Pro Tip: Avoid waiting in line and use NoWait. We didn't use the NoWait option and put our name down and after 45 minutes we were finally seated. Right after we put our name down we headed to the bar to get 2 Bloody Marys which took about 10 minutes to order because there was a long line and only 1 bartender for the entire restaurant. But what was frustrating was that after we ordered, people that came after us were getting their drinks and we were completely skipped over. After bringing it to their attention they made our drinks but no apology or attempt to make things better. 25 minutes after placing the order we got our Bloody Marys - absolutely absurd! HOUSE BACON-INFUSED VODKA BLOODY MARY $10 *The Bloody Mary was very bacon-y and garnished with some delicious crispy briny green beans and extra crispy bacon. BBQ SHRIMP & GRITS $15 Sauteed Gulf shrimp with beer & rosemary butter reduction, over creamy stone ground grits served with a buttermilk biscuit *tiny tasteless shrimp with gummy grits THE TRIFECTA $20 Taste of the Ruby Slipper Cafe featuring one serving each of Eggs Cochon, Chicken St. Charles & Shrimp Boogaloo Benedicts *biscuits were dense, gummy and disgusting and I barely picked at the toppings on each benedict After waiting 25 minutes to get Bloody Marys and 1 hour to eat brunch, to say I was underwhelmed would be an understatement. There was too much hype and not enough bite. read more

Ruby Slipper Marigny - I would show y'all my food but.... Lol sorry - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - New Orleans, Louisiana

Been anticipating my visit to The Ruby Sipper for MONTHS now so you can only imagine how happy I was to finally come! I HIGHLY suggest using the Yelp app for the waitlist feature because it helps a lot. I added my table of 6 to the list at 11:30am on a Monday and there was 45 parties ahead of us. Since our Airbnb wasn't too far from the location we arrived at 12pm. The app said to check in with the host at 1:04pm so we were super early. They have a small waiting area inside as well as seats outside. You can order drinks at the bar and bring them outside while waiting. Our table was ready exactly at 1pm so we were seated pretty quick. This location use to be a bank back in the day so it was nice that they kept the bars of where the cashiers were. There were too many options for me to choose from but of course I started with a morning margarita; super tasty but which they laid off the ice a little. For brunch I ordered the "migas" which is nachos, eggs, cheese with a creamy sauce on the side, sliced avocado and pico. The portion was somewhat small so I ordered a biscuit and grits on the side. The biscuit with the honey butter is LIFE! The grits weren't my favorite; there was no flavor. Our waitress accommodated our table by doing separate checks. The service but fast but didn't feel rushed. Food was amazing! Again, use the waitlist option y'all! read more

Forgot to review this amazing gem!!! Omg this was probably by far the best breakfast we had while in New Orleans!! We tried to be spontaneous and try other places but we really wish we would have just gone this place every morning and tried everything on the menu. Super cool location because it used to be a bank that Bonnie and Clyde robbed! Our server Tim (I think was his name from Pennsylvania) was an absolute riot!! Love the food and people here! read more

Fantastic food! Got the trifecta eggs benny and fried chicken and french toast bites. Perfect amount for 4 ppl! Our waiter Jack was an absolute darling and gave GREAT recommendations. Thank you so much! read more

This is a local chain, and it doesn't quite have the charm of the funkier, more independent eateries you can find in NOLA. That said, it's cute, and the waiter was very friendly. Agree with other reviewers that it's a little slow -- don't go if you're in a hurry. We went first thing in the morning, and they weren't quite ready for us -- luckily, we didn't really want anything they were out of, but still... The food we did have was really good. I had the Eggs Blackstone bennie, which was delicious. My husband had the bread pudding pancakes, which were really good, but VERY sweet -- I would have needed more balance, but he definitely enjoyed them. The coffee at a place like this should be great, and it wasn't; it was fine, but not memorable. Good food, but not a place that is going to sear itself into my dining-out memories, especially in New Orleans. read more

If you don't eat the fried green tomato app, you have not lived! I was happy just eatting that because it was so perfect and impressive! Everything is delicious and the staff are amazing. Especially Leisha! She was so kind and I feel like we are friends now lol. That's how sweet she is! Service was quick and food was good as always. Scratch that, food was phenomenal. This is absolutely my favorite brunch place. read more

Everyone we ran into told us to try Ruby Slipper Cafe. So we decided to give it a try. We put ourselves on the waiting list but still ended up waiting past the 30 minutes. The hostess was super nice and friendly and made sure we got seated. The location we went to was originally an old bank. They have a few tables outside and the inside seating area has a few seats within. Our waitress was super nice and friendly. She answered all of our questions and made sure our drinks and food was brought out promptly. She was also really talkative and gave us some things to do while we were there. The menu options were limited to myself and one of my other friends because we don't eat pork and about 85% of the menu is pork based. The food was decent. Nothing to rave about like everyone said but again we don't eat pork so the dishes that ppl may consider some of the best dishes we didn't order. We got fried green tomatoes which were fantastic and an appetizer of French toast bites which were also good especially that cream cheese drizzle. We all ended up getting some form of chicken. The chicken sandwich was decent and it was huge. Again it was just okay. The service was the best part. If ever in Nola again I'm not sure if I would come back I would probably try some other brunch or breakfast options. read more

Cute little place off the beaten path and worth seeking it out! Good old fashioned New Orleans hospitality. Broad menu so there is something for everyone. The service was excellent. The food arrived hot and quickly. A full bar provides for the morning after blues, however I do recommend the bacon Bloody Mary. The prices are very reasonable, and considering that everyone is really overpriced post pandemic, it was nice to not feel fleeced while on vacation. Great all around experience. I highly recommend it. read more

Great spot for a quick breakfast. Food was amazing and service was also good. I recommend the breakfast tacos and the migas. The Bloody Mary with bacon infused vodka was also amazing!! Prices are reasonable and affordable too. We will definitely return next time we visit New Orleans read more

I ordered the Costa Rican and the Chicken St. Charles and thought that both were just alright. They were served lukewarm and not hot, which means that you can eat it once you get it, but isn't my preference. The Costa Rican includes plantain slices which were more tough than crispy, though they tasted fine. The avocado was good, ripe but not overly so, and the rest of the food was relatively good with my main disappointment being the temperature. We got the eggs scrambled. They were "meh," is how my friend described it. They weren't fluffy, creamy, or with the sort of larger curds in an American-style omelette. The Chicken St. Charles was poached eggs on a tough, room-temperature biscuit. The eggs were poached well, with the yolks being gooey, and the sauce was unmemorable. The fried chicken breast also just was alright. The service was somewhat slow, though to be fair they were very busy when we went on Saturday. I think the food and service was just alright, but our server was very friendly and I did really like the venue. They had cute decorations on the walls and many of their menu items painted onto blackboards in different colors and fonts. I came here tired after a red-eye flight, and it was warm and filling, even if I wouldn't recommend the place. read more

the food was great and herman took amazing care of us! the surrounding neighborhood is so cute it's definitely a good place to walk around!

We'd enjoyed a meal at the Magazine location several years ago, but didn't realize their were other locations. Visited the Marigny location and had a wonderful lunch, including the best friend green tomatoes we've had in a long while. Our server, Tony, was attentive, friendly, and offered some great suggestions including the Lavender Paloma, which I would never have ordered on my own, but truly was delightful as he promised. read more

Ruby slipper is doing both take out and dine in right now! Normally I've not been a big dine in person during coronavirus, but my roommates and I had been feeling very stir crazy - so we went someplace without paper menus and with occupancy limits. Right out of the gate, the floors and table were a little sticky and the drinks seemed really pricey (mimosas? For 10 dollars each?) I got the bananas foster french toast which was absolutely delicious. I also got a side of breakfast potatoes which were super oily and not really seasoned, so those were just meh. My roommates and partner all got various eggs benedicts which seems to be their special. All of the eggs benedicts looked and smelled delicious! The couple bites I stole were also fantastic. All in all will definitely come back to try something from the savory side of the menu, but not in my 5 star range. read more

Such an incredible team at this location. My husband had the Southern Breakfast. The eggs were scrambled to perfection, the applewood smoked bacon was crispy, the stoned ground grits were buttery and creamy and the added treat, aside from the fluffy cathead biscuit, was a fried green tomato. Yummy. I had the breakfast tacos, filled with soft scrambled eggs, pepperjack cheese, pico de gallo, chipotle sour cream and avocado. Delicious. And the coffee...French Truck Coffee was awesome. We purchased a bag to take home. We have been Community Coffee folks for years, but French Truck is a step above. Topped off by incredible service from Veronica. Wow. Definitely my new go to Breakfast place in NOLA. Thanks Veronica for taking such superb care of us and Charles for inviting us back as your guest. Update to previous review. We returned for brunch the following morning and once again were just as delighted as the day before. This time, we were greeted by Charles and our super servers were Tony and Brittany. I had the most incredible dish today. The Salmon Avocado Toast was spectacular. Perfectly prepared smoked salmon, avocado, pico de gallo with flash-fried capers served over sourdough toast points smeared with the most delicious herbed garlic goat cheese topped with a delicately poached egg, all setting on a bed of fresh spinach. This is a dish so heavenly. I could eat it everyday. I can't wait for our next visit to NOLA. We came here because we heard raving reviews! The one in the FQ was packed, so we had to wait about an hour, this one was a 2 minute wait. The dishes were good and uniquely flavored; I don't think many places offer what they do. I got the St. Charles chicken and it was delicious. I recommend getting the trifecta if you want to try their top dishes. The prices are on the expensive side, so it was a treat. Their pancakes looked amazing, but we didn't try them. This is a great brunch spot, with friends, family, kids, or a casual date. Located in a quaint neighborhood, it was a cute place to eat and conversate with my friends. read more

We stumbled into the Ruby Slipper cafe in the middle of our quick trip to the city, and we're greeted quickly with big smiles, an abundance of hospitality, and a delicious cup of coffee! Upon ordering, our waitress, Esther, suggested a few options to try off the menu, so we all quickly switched our orders. I'm so glad she suggested that because the peacemaker and Benedicts were absolutely incredible! We've got two more mornings in NOLA and I think we'll be back 2-3 more times to this charming little brunch spot. read more

We love Ruby Slipper! We went to the other location last year and did want to pass up another opportunity to eat here during this trip. This location was in walking distance frome our air b and b. We got right in and had a huge table right in the middle of the restaurant. I wish I'd taken some interior pictures. Service was amazing just like at the other location. We got drinks right away. I had a great gin drink called Hello Sunshine, just like Last year. Great for early alcohol consumption. Food came out quickly. It was hot and delicious. I had the biscuits and gravy. HUGE! Almost too much. I loved it. Wife and daughter had their favorite avocado toast. My son had the Gulf shrimp omelet. Everything was perfect. I really want to try other breakfast spots in New Orleans but we can't resist going back to Ruby Slipper. read more

The food was delicious. Minimal wait. The staff moved things around to accommodate my grotto of 6. Outstanding service

I found a Ruby Slipper t-shirt on the bottom of my dresser drawer the other day and thought wow I totally remember that place I went to in 2017 and it was really good and why not write a review. And since I'm stuck in California I can reminisce about how good their food was. The Corned beef hash was homemade and delicious. The shrimp omelette also extremely good loaded with cheese and shrimp and topped with Crystal hot sauce. Finally I'm all about bloody Mary's and New Orleans has some of the best, and this place did not disappoint. Great customer service and cool ambiance. Can't wait to someday travel back to NOLA and make a stop here. read more

I had been trying to decide what review #2200 would be and I had a spot in mind, but decided that it should be Ruby Slipper instead. This is the last place I dined before the "stay at home" order from the mayor due to the covid-19 panic. We were already on edge when we ate here, but the bartender was AMAZING. He was funny and light-hearted and kept us laughing throughout our visit. He really took our minds of our worries, all while sanitizing everything and handling multiple customers at once with kindness. I'm kicking myself for not getting his name, but he had brown hair and a beard. He was wonderful. For my meal I got my regular- Chicken St. Charles, which is a fried chicken Benedict on top of a biscuit. I also got a side of grits and bacon. It was all delicious and, considering the circumstances, it was perfectly cooked and served with a smile. This experience is one of the reasons I love Ruby Slipper and I'll always return. They really make you feel like family. Please give that bartender a raise- he went above and beyond. read more

Eh. So, my group of friends and I hear me a lot about Ruby Slipper, but it was not all that great in my opinion (and theirs). We put our name down on the waitlist and arrived two minutes after the check in, yet the table still wasn't ready. We waited an additional ten minutes for our table. We already knew what we wanted. I got the catfish and grits. The catfish came in a few strips and was a tiny portion. The shrimp and grits was soupy. The french toast was enough for two people but had too much sugar. However, I loved the biscuits (that honey butter was yum!) but the rest of my group said they were pretty dry. Overall, pretty average dining experience, and I'm not likely to go back if I'm in town again. read more

Ruby Slipper is always packed on the weekends and for good reason. I will say I was a little let down this last trip but maybe it's because of what I ordered. We started off with the fried green tomatoes and they were delicious. Good start. We were disappointed by our mimosa flight, felt they didn't taste good and were overpriced. The cochon Benedict didn't "meat" the mark for us. It didn't have enough flavor. What brought up the whole experience was our server who was really nice and accommodating of our party of 8. read more

I came to NOLA a few years ago and we didn't end up making it to the Ruby Slipper because of the waitlist being too long and my fiancé needing to eat with their morning medication. On my return trip, we finally had a chance to come here and the food was seriously some of the best I've ever had anywhere. The service was incredible, the food was so so so good, and the atmosphere was perfect. I will be dining here again one day, hopefully in the near future. We had the shrimp and grits which is one of Terrys favorite and now I see why! The hot honey chicken and French toast bites... amazing, and the cinnamon pancakes with the crispy edges! Needless to say we ended up going back the next day and requesting to be placed in Terrys section! Love me some her! read more

Last day in NOLA and this place was a block from our Airbnb. Of course the siren call of bennies for breakfast lured us in. The interior is really cute and colorful. It's hard to be groggy or grumpy if you're sitting there and sipping a morning cup of coffee. I went the two bennies route, with the Peacemaker, where you can pick one of each. I got the fried chicken benedict and the smoked salmon benedict. Food took slightly long to arrive but it was worth it. The biscuit was fresh and flaky, and nothing beats a poached egg yolk running over fried chicken or smoked salmon, while topped with a delicious hollandaise sauce. I pretty much wiped my plate clean. Thankful to our server Jack for recommending the fried chicken benedict, because I hadn't tried that ever before. He was great and had a wonderful attitude for someone working this early on a Monday morning. Ruby Slippers has a few locations and if all the others was as great as this one, definitely get breakfast or brunch at one of them! read more

I eat at this ruby slipper every week and, for the most part, the food is fine.. Several times, around six months ago, I got poached eggs that were wrong, cooked solid one time then severely undercooked the next. I stopped ordering poached and just settled for sunny side up when I wanted eggs. I thought the problem had been resolved and ordered three poached eggs today. They came out solid., I sent them back and got back eggs floating in water, cooked maybe 90 seconds, egg drop soup more or less.. Now this is coming from a regular customer, someone they know is a regular customer. God help the random tourist if they treat their regulars this way!! So the moral of my review is, this brunch restaurant hires cooks that don't know how to cook eggs, and don't care at all about what they serve. My advice is, if you get stuck eating here order something without eggs. read more

I've dined at Ruby Slipper multiple times and had great meals but I'm not sure what possessed me to try the Breakfast Tacos today... worst decision. I added chorizo and there was barely any. It was way too cheesy and tasted like a bad American take on such a simple dish. I would recommended more traditionally American/Louisianan dishes instead. We ended up going to a couple Ruby Slipper's while in NOLA. This location had fairly good food and service. When we headed out they ended up offering the honey a coffee to-go, with a fresh cup to take with him. I wasn't a fan (thus the one star loss) that it was really cold in the restaurant. Our other Ruby Slipper location didn't have the same problem, so it seems that it was only an issue with this location - it was cold outside as well, so I don't really understand why the meat locker vibe. All in all, probably not my first choice to go back, but if you don't mind the cold - definitely an A-Ok location to be sure. read more
