Yummy!! We went in on a Friday morning and made a reservation on YELP for the four of us, but we definitely didn't need it. We shared our breakfast and we had the biscuits and gravy with the honey crispy chicken bread pudding pancakes and steak and eggs!! Everything was delicious but honestly, the honey crispy chicken was the best thing I've ever tasted!! I was dreaming about it all weekend!! the flakes of the chicken mixed with the sausage and gravy was delicious! Our server was great. We took all of his recommendations on food and we all enjoyed a nice iced coffee. So happy we stopped into this iconic place when visiting New Orleans and definitely would recommend it to Anyone who's traveling it read more

Delicious as always. Bananas foster French toast was soooo amazing. Don't forget the fried green tomatoes on the apps. The flight was also super fun to try 4 signature drinks. Boozy coffee, bacon bloody, a special marg, and the ruby mimosa. Jack was truly the highlight of the meal. He clearly loves his job and loves people. He was happy and laughing. Easy to talk to. Jack doesn't just have "southern charm" he has his own sense of charm! He was what made this experience fantastic. Thank you Jack! read more

Came in and was able to have a seat at the bar. The service was impeccable ofc! I loved the attention to detail that the bartender had! She was making all drinks for the whole restaurant! The place was welcoming and I can tell that everyone was happy to be there. There's street parking which is free. The prices are reasonable, and duhhh the food is good. Will I be back...? Of course! read more

I was really looking forward to this place because I had heard great things. My food was pretty good overall, but some of my friends didn't have the best experience. One friend didn't like her meal and it came out cold. They also forgot her tea and then just brought her a packet with hot water instead of making it. I ordered the gulf shrimp omelet, which tasted good but was on the smaller side. The grits and biscuit were both good, and my coffee was solid. The French toast bites we shared were probably the best thing we had. Our server seemed friendly at first, but when we tried to wave her down multiple times, it felt like we were being ignored. I've honestly never experienced that before at a restaurant. The atmosphere itself was clean and welcoming, which I appreciated. read more

This brunch spot was within walking distance of my Airbnb. It's a fast paced, casual restaurant and overall affordable. On this visit I ordered a B.Y.O Omelet with bacon and cheddar cheese, with a side of potatoes and a buttermilk biscuit. The omelet was nice in size, fresh, salted and tasty! As for the potatoes my batch wasn't supper fresh and I could tell they were sitting for a while but I did like the seasoning on them. The buttermilk biscuit was homemade and came with a honey butter and jam, also pretty tasty as well, but could've been slightly less dense for my liking! I'd definitely come back again when visiting to try more items! I also have to mention that my server was such a sweetheart and was very welcoming. It definitely made my experience much better!! read more

Ruby Slipper Marigny - B.Y.O. Omelet (bacon & cheddar), with Potatoes and a Buttermilk Biscuit - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - New Orleans, Louisiana

This was my first time at this location. It wasn't busy, so our party of eight was able to get seated immediately. Lots of food options to choose from with plenty of drink options to include alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. Historic building is decorated very nicely, the ambience is casual. Food was very good, to include the biscuits that were cooked perfectly. I always seem to find myself at a Ruby Slipper for breakfast/brunch. I'm sure I will be back! read more

Would come back here just for the biscuit! 1 of the best biscuits I've ever had. The rest of the food was pretty good, the coffee was ok, service was decent. While I didn't have any, they had some pretty fun-looking drink flights. read more

When I lived here this used to be my go to spot. Today was either a bad day or service has slipped. I arrived approximately 10:05am and stood at the door waiting to be greeted. After about 5 minutes (or what felt like it) I was finally greeted begrudgingly by a woman in pink who brought me to a table. I sat there for a good solid 5-10 minutes before someone brought me a water and said that Brandy would be taking care of me. After the water I continued to sit at the table for 5-10 Minutes until Brandy arrived with a water. She noticed I had a water and asked if I wanted anything to drink besides two waters. I told her what coffee I wanted and gave her my order. She asked if I wanted to keep the menu so I said sure. After she brought my coffee I waited for the order. A table of five or six arrived about ten minutes after I arrived. After about 30 minutes Brandy approached my table and asked if I was ready to put in my order. I told her I had put it in with her about 30 minutes ago. She asked what I had ordered and I told her Gulf Shrimp Omelette. I then watched her walk from my table to behind the bar, and submit my order. I noticed the table of 5 or 6 behind me had their entire order on their table and were enjoying their meal. After about 20 more minutes Brandy passed my table, went into the kitchen, came out and said "it's almost ready!". I called her over and asked what the wait was. She informed me that some other table received my order. I told her that the table behind me had more people and arrived after me and still got their food way before I did. She apologized for this. I ended up cancelling my order, paying for my coffee (which honestly should have been complimentary considering Brandy forgot my order and then lied about it) and left. Again, service was absolutely terrible and I'm unsure if it's totally Brandys fault or if service truly has slipped. I would post pics of my food but... I didn't get any. read more

Best breakfast we've had in ages! We're staying across the street, and this super-friendly Ruby Slipper employee named Bryan called up to our balcony and told us to come over for breakfast. So glad he did! At the suggestion of our fabulously efficient server, Mary, we shared the beignets with dipping sauces and the fried green tomato appetizer. SO good. We ordered the Trifecta, the Costa Rican breakfast, the Southern Breakfast, and the Shrimp and Grits. Everyone LOVED what we ordered. Plus the bloody Marys and boozy coffee. We had to go home and take a nap. read more

I got the classic biscuits and gravy as I usually do at breakfast or brunch. The meal was kind of cold when it arrived, and the service was a bit unorganized since it was busy on the Sunday we went. The biscuits and gravy did not stand out to me either flavor wise. Overall the restaurant had a nice vibe and decor. read more

Went with 3 of my girlfriends and we had a great time - Herman, our server, was super attentive and funny. His service was a 10/10, 100%! The space is casual and had cute summer-themed decor. The food was solid breakfast food - we got the bacon (4/5) and fried green tomato (3/5) starters and the florentine omelet (4/5), bayou shrimp benedict (3.5/5), migas (3/5) and catfish+grits (3.5/5) entrees. Certain parts of the entrees were colder than we would have liked (e.g., the sauce on the benedict and the biscuits that came with the entrees). We also got the mimosa flight and enjoyed all of them except one. If you come, ask for Herman and enjoy the vibe! read more

Amazing place to stumble upon. Staff was warm and friendly and very welcoming. Menu was packed with options and their drink menu is creative and fun. Pricing was incredibly fair for really great homemade meals. Kids meal option was perfect for the kiddo. Wish we were closer to go every day we are here. Loved the Costa Rica special and the sisters breakfast. Best bacon I have probably ever had. Didn't see any merch? Do they sell any items with the name and logo? read more

Love the new location, and the food remains spectacular! Great service from Nana too!

It was just ok. Nothing to rave about at all. We ordered cranberry juice but the server decided to give us cranberry with orange juice. We ordered a mimosa flight (the price was good but the flavors were just ok), I had fish and grits. The grits were cool or room temperature in some parts and kind of hot under the fish and they gave me three little pieces of fish with a big crusty and dry biscuit. My friend had the Tex mex an he said it was decent. For almost $70 on breakfast I was not impressed at all. read more

We were only in LA for about 24 hours, so not a lot of time or a a lot of places to visit. We were greeted and sat as soon as we walked in. Our waitress was great. I'm glad we came here. We got the breakfast tacos, it was different, but that's what I liked about it. I think for me, it was the tortillas that made it taste different, not in a bad way. But the desert......That set it off. It was more than the just bread with powdered sugar on it. It was peach, and it had cream around it! It wasn't Ice cream, but it was like Ice cream, but not cold. I know, I know it's hard to explain I would recommend checking Ruby Slipper out. read more

Only took off one star because of our last visit. October.1 Had such a great experience from start to end. 5 star experience. Jack is a delight! Attention and service 10/10. He even gave us a little history about the place and town. We definitely decided to come back on our last day which was Friday October.3. It was much busier but still not too packed inside. We were told to wait to be called for a table for 3. I wanted to ask to have jack again but it was too late we got called. We had a different server. And this time around it wasn't such a good experience. He had a bit of a standoffish attitude from the start. The small talk seemed fake as he was just with a straight face no smile so we didn't know if we should smile laugh or stay serious. This was a complete 180 from our first experience. At one point one of the cooks came out and started a convo with us while the server was there and his attitude was 1000x better and good energy. He made a joke we laughed and the server was still straight face looked annoyed. At that point we wanted to leave. We paid cabs and he just stared the whole time while my sister was counting the cash making sure we got it right. We also didn't get a receipt. (Jack gave us a receipt to go box and a bag) With this server we asked for a to go bag and it was a huge box no bag we didn't even want to ask for one because he would have said something smart back to us. If we're ever back in town we will 100% be there Tuesday-Fridays and ask specifically for jack. It was such a pleasure meeting you jack!!! Hope to see you again. read more

Good quality with a wide choice of breakfast options. Clean and orderly. Service was attentive,?but seemed surprised st first when we arrived. I suspect host was new. Our service was terrible. The food was decent. What was received from our order anyway. Quite disappointing. They did discount our bill.

This review won't apply to you if: 1. you're not vegan 2. you don't mind that a "side" of breakfast potatoes is a half-filled ramekin of cool potato cubes C'mon Ruby Slipper. Catch up to the practices of most breakfast/brunch places that recognize that many people might start their day out with vegetarian intentions. Even Cracker Barrel has Impossible meat at this point. Or, like serve some fruit? It's impossible for me to eat here. I suffered through a breakfast with my family in town and I ordered what they consider a side of potatoes. I almost laughed when they put it in front of me because I thought it was a condiment (also, it was served to me the morning after my amuse bouche dinner at Muriel's). I did see that they have avocado toast but I'm not paying full price for them to leave off the salmon and egg. And I spied very brown avocado on my brother's breakfast tacos which is unacceptable. I'm giving an extra star for the well-meaning staff. I suppose the brunch drinks are vegan at least? Oh and they have oat milk for your coffee. Clearly they hate vegans so why should I spend my money here? read more

We booked a VRBO right up the street, and one of the reasons was the close proximity to this breakfast/brunch restaurant. At that time, we knew nothing about it, and nothing about what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. It was less than a block, and, so, an easy walk. There were still two other places nearby, but this is the one we chose, and the one we stuck with. I love the various history of New Orleans, and this restaurant is located in an old, historic building that used to be a bank. It's even rumored that Bonnie and Clyde once robbed the bank there, but that's not likely true, and there's no evidence to support the claim. Still, "stories" like that are part of New Orleans' charm. You'll find similar stories all over town, and if there aren't stories, someone will make one up, or add a ghost. It makes it fun. Right away, and almost immediately upon entering, we noticed the entire place was pretty clean. That's a good start. Of course, it was fairly early in the morning, but always a plus. We immediately noticed as well that the staff were very friendly, inviting, and accommodating. When you're still tired in the morning, it's nice to go into a clean, quiet place for a bite to eat, and be treated well, and with respect. The quiet was especially nice, and that's partly because this place is in a neighborhood, and not in any crowded business district. The food is good, too. They offer a very good variety and selection of breakfast/brunch fare, and they serve "French Truck" coffee. There's a lot of good coffee in New Orleans, but I like French Truck, and the fact that it is a local business. As for the food itself, I've already mentioned the good variety, including Southern treats you don't find just anywhere, but it also good to note that the portions are good, the presentation nice, and the flavors satisfying. All of the staff were very, very nice, but, as it often does in New Orleans, the service was not really quick. It was quick enough, though, and offered us all the time to enjoy our coffee, and our conversation while making mutual plans for the day ahead. When we were there, we went several times, and we tried several other places. Ruby Slipper stood out as a favorite. Of all the things it is, or isn't, it is definitely "very" New Orleans. read more

Came on a Monday morning at 8am and we were the 3rd party there haha. Probably to be expected but at first we thought we were at the wrong place! The restaurant is cute and quaint with booth seating and regular seating and decorations all around the walls. Trifecta: we loved the trifecta Benedict, especially the shrimp one! It was so flavorful and the combination of different flavors was amazing. Would highly recommend this trifecta so you can try all their classic Benedict's. Fried Catfish with Grits: also a solid order! The flavor was a little bland after eating the Benedict but having the grits was a nice comfort food in the morning. It was kind of like having Chinese porridge! I would've ordered the Shrimp & Grits instead, as others did. Berry Chantilly Pancakes: nice and fluffy! The berries were lightly sweetened in syrup and there was a generous amount of cream. A lovely way to end the meal. Service was good. Our waitress refilled our coffees and milks twice and helped to explain the menu. Overall, a good experience and would love to come back on another visit to NOLA read more

Great place that's a hidden GEM and the food is great ! We will be back for sure. The food was very tasty and portions were generous!

Been to many Ruby Slipper cafes in states along the Gulf Coast. It's always been a pretty reliable place to go for a well-rounded breakfast, good coffee and good service. This French Quarter location had a much shorter wait than the one closer to our FQ hotel so was worth the extra walk. Everything was good except I'd never get the 'Costa Rican' breakfast again as the 'chorizo' lacked flavor intensity compared to what I'm used to and the listed plantains were not added as specified but after having to wait for 15-20 min for my cappuccino and nearly 30 min for our food, I just dug in, then realized there were no plantains after I'd finished and by the time our bill was delivered, we had to scram due to being late somewhere because of the unexpected delay here, so didn't bother complaining, didn't have even a minute for that. There weren't many other people there that morning (it was a Friday) so they must've had a kitchen staff shortage but that's just an assumption. read more

Service was a little slow but worth the wait. It is New Orleans after all and they were down a few people being out sick. Food... so start with Fried Green tomatoes which I got as my meal. It was pretty good even though they were out of the sweet stuff for the top. No I can't remember the name. Two of my friends got the Trifecta. It was a LOT of food. Other than some of the biscuits being overcooked it was just fantastic. My other friend got the biscuits and gravy with some sweet heat chicken on the side. Everything was worth the wait and we would definitely come back again. Next trip of course. We have too many places we want to try this trip. Jack was our server and he was helpful and nice. read more

Ruby Slipper was really good. The food was fresh, the portions were generous, and the drinks were great. The staff was friendly and the service was quick even though it was busy. Nice servers but the food was totally subpar. Grits were lumpy with dried out bits from the top of the pot. Eggs scrambled hard on a dirty grill or pan. Very slow service. Not sure what the issue was. It was on a weekday and I heard they were busy on the weekend. It took over 25 mins to get my black coffee.
