Before even entering Ruby Slipper we were greeted by Bryan. He's warm, funny and so helpful. He made sure we were seated in space we were comfortable with. Our server was Mary, she knew the menu in and out and was extremely pleasant. Mary and Bryan are who you should have front and center!!! The food was great!!! I had the fish and grits!!!
Came in and was able to have a seat at the bar. The service was impeccable ofc! I loved the attention to detail that the bartender had! She was making all drinks for the whole restaurant! The place was welcoming and I can tell that everyone was happy to be there. There's street parking which is free. The prices are reasonable, and duhhh the food is good. Will I be back...? Of course!
I was really looking forward to this place because I had heard great things. My food was pretty good overall, but some of my friends didn't have the best experience. One friend didn't like her meal and it came out cold. They also forgot her tea and then just brought her a packet with hot water instead of making it. I ordered the gulf shrimp omelet, which tasted good but was on the smaller side. The grits and biscuit were both good, and my coffee was solid. The French toast bites we shared were probably the best thing we had. Our server seemed friendly at first, but when we tried to wave her down multiple times, it felt like we were being ignored. I've honestly never experienced that before at a restaurant. The atmosphere itself was clean and welcoming, which I appreciated.
This brunch spot was within walking distance of my Airbnb. It's a fast paced, casual restaurant and overall affordable. On this visit I ordered a B.Y.O Omelet with bacon and cheddar cheese, with a side of potatoes and a buttermilk biscuit. The omelet was nice in size, fresh, salted and tasty! As for the potatoes my batch wasn't supper fresh and I could tell they were sitting for a while but I did like the seasoning on them. The buttermilk biscuit was homemade and came with a honey butter and jam, also pretty tasty as well, but could've been slightly less dense for my liking! I'd definitely come back again when visiting to try more items! I also have to mention that my server was such a sweetheart and was very welcoming. It definitely made my experience much better!!
This was my first time at this location. It wasn't busy, so our party of eight was able to get seated immediately. Lots of food options to choose from with plenty of drink options to include alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. Historic building is decorated very nicely, the ambience is casual. Food was very good, to include the biscuits that were cooked perfectly. I always seem to find myself at a Ruby Slipper for breakfast/brunch. I'm sure I will be back!
I got the classic biscuits and gravy as I usually do at breakfast or brunch. The meal was kind of cold when it arrived, and the service was a bit unorganized since it was busy on the Sunday we went. The biscuits and gravy did not stand out to me either flavor wise. Overall the restaurant had a nice vibe and decor.
It was just ok. Nothing to rave about at all. We ordered cranberry juice but the server decided to give us cranberry with orange juice. We ordered a mimosa flight (the price was good but the flavors were just ok), I had fish and grits. The grits were cool or room temperature in some parts and kind of hot under the fish and they gave me three little pieces of fish with a big crusty and dry biscuit. My friend had the Tex mex an he said it was decent. For almost $70 on breakfast I was not impressed at all.
We were only in LA for about 24 hours, so not a lot of time or a a lot of places to visit. We were greeted and sat as soon as we walked in. Our waitress was great. I'm glad we came here. We got the breakfast tacos, it was different, but that's what I liked about it. I think for me, it was the tortillas that made it taste different, not in a bad way. But the desert......That set it off. It was more than the just bread with powdered sugar on it. It was peach, and it had cream around it! It wasn't Ice cream, but it was like Ice cream, but not cold. I know, I know it's hard to explain I would recommend checking Ruby Slipper out.
Only took off one star because of our last visit. October.1 Had such a great experience from start to end. 5 star experience. Jack is a delight! Attention and service 10/10. He even gave us a little history about the place and town. We definitely decided to come back on our last day which was Friday October.3. It was much busier but still not too packed inside. We were told to wait to be called for a table for 3. I wanted to ask to have jack again but it was too late we got called. We had a different server. And this time around it wasn't such a good experience. He had a bit of a standoffish attitude from the start. The small talk seemed fake as he was just with a straight face no smile so we didn't know if we should smile laugh or stay serious. This was a complete 180 from our first experience. At one point one of the cooks came out and started a convo with us while the server was there and his attitude was 1000x better and good energy. He made a joke we laughed and the server was still straight face looked annoyed. At that point we wanted to leave. We paid cabs and he just stared the whole time while my sister was counting the cash making sure we got it right. We also didn't get a receipt. (Jack gave us a receipt to go box and a bag) With this server we asked for a to go bag and it was a huge box no bag we didn't even want to ask for one because he would have said something smart back to us. If we're ever back in town we will 100% be there Tuesday-Fridays and ask specifically for jack. It was such a pleasure meeting you jack!!! Hope to see you again.

Let me start by saying the host/server/bartender Sean is amazing. I love coming into an establishment and the first thing you experience is a phenomenal person. For my meal I ordered the brioche French toast that comes with bacon and I ordered an extra scrambled egg for an additional $2. As far as the French toast goes it is basic as ever. We had to add cream cheese, powdered sugar, and butter for it to taste good. I actually switched my meal for the cinnamon swirl because I couldn't do all that work (my sister loved her French toast with all the additions) The cinnamon swirl pancake is fantastic. Just the right amount of sweet. I would give it a 9/10. The egg is an egg. Nothing special. The bacon though!!! Omg!!!!! The best applewood bacon ever!! 10/10!! I would come back and get the bacon by itself. I don't even like bacon. But this. This is different. read more

We dropped in here because it was close to a shop we wanted to go to and it ended up being a great stop! They have this really cool option to mix and match some of their items like the different kind of pancakes, which I ended up doing, getting the crème brûlée and the white chocolate bread pudding pancakes. I ended up loving the crème brûlée one, and the other was just fine, so I was glad to have both to compare. If we were staying in New Orleans longer I'm sure we would have gone back since there were so many delicious looking options! They have a few locations here in the city too, although apparently one is closed temporarily due to the Hard Rock accident. Wish they had one in our hometown, it was yummy with lots of fun things to choose from! read more

We were so impressed by the Ruby Slipper yesterday, we decided to eat in another location this morning in Marigny. The neighborhood was very cool and the wait time much less than in the French Quarter. My wife and I split a Trifecta (pictured) as it looked to be way more than either of us could eat by ourselves. Very impressive! The Eggs Cochon was our favorite featuring Apple-braised pork debris served over a buttermilk biscuit, topped with a poached egg, finished with hollandaise. read more

This was our first brunch destination during our trip to New Orleans and I have to say, the food and service was amazing. We had the fried green tomatoes, crawfish and grit cake, and biscuit with gravy. The fried green tomato was one of the best we've had. The batter was fried perfectly and the tanginess of the green tomatoes created a nice balance between the savouriness of the rest of our meal. The crawfish and grit cake was also very delicious. The crawfish sauce was super creamy and the spices added to it gave it a nice southern flare. Our server Tiff was so friendly and attentive during our visit, we'll definitely be coming back. read more

Great brunch spot! Walked in with one other friend at 9:15am with no wait to be seated. The dining space is fairly large with lots of natural lighting and cute signs with the signature dishes and a timeline of the building's history. Our waitress was very kind and attentive to the right extent (came by to check up on us but wasn't overbearing). My friend ordered hot tea that came with 2 Tazo tea bags and a metal tea pot of hot water. We ordered the Bananas Foster Pain Perdu and the Peacemakers (Eggs Cochon and Chicken St. Charles). The Chicken St. Charles was my favorite, it was super flavorful and satisfying smothered in the Tasso cream sauce. The Egg Cochon was also delicious but I just personally preferred the chicken. It would have been perfect if our plate didn't come out a bit lukewarm. The Bananas Foster French Toast is perfect for those with a sweet tooth. I personally felt it was a little too sweet/soggy from the caramel sauce and wished we had that on the side. But the caramelized bananas were delicious and the side of Candied Bacon was just the right touch of saltiness. All their other dishes sounded amazing and if I wasn't in NOLA for just the weekend, I would definitely come back to try the other dishes that caught my eye. read more

Hi, Michelle! Thanks so much for this detailed review! I'm happy to…
YES! YES! YES! This small, quant little restaurant tucked in between the back streets is a must try. I'm from NY and was in NOLA for a girls trip. I visited this place on our last day before we head to the airport. 2 of the girls already went home so it was just myself and another. I ordered a spinach and shrimp omelet (in an attempt to start my NOLA detox) and the biscuit that came on the side was hands down the largest and best taste biscuit I've ever had. It was almost the size of my hand and prob 6 inches tall. It was so fluffy and delicious. It came with a side of this homemade maple (I think) butter, whatever it was it for 5aure gets my vote!! My girl and I also split a stack of cinnamon swirl pancakes with a vanilla cream cheese icing. They were perfect! Not too sweet and over powering, but far from your blain basic pancake. The staff was super friendly. There was a bit of a wait. Well worth it!! read more

I asked my waiter to bring this establishment to Iowa, this could be a huge chain and everyone would love it. The food is amazing and wish I had some again tomorrow for breakfast. I had the banana fosters french toast and the chicken biscuit, it was so delicious and really stands out when you compare them against other places. They do such a great job here and I'm sure those reading this will love it as well. They have quite the menu and you should find a few new favorites. read more

Welp had to see what all the hype was about. A few friends told us about this place and that we had to have breakfast here when in New Orleans. We opted to come to this location rather than a more crowded one, good move! We found a parking spot tight in front walked in and was seated immediately. I went for the gusto Catfish and grits, fried green tomatoes , breakfast potatoes and a big ole biscuit. The catfish was hot and with the creamy grits it was a tasty treat. The tomatoes were seasoned very well and the sauce that came with them had a tiny kick to it. The disappointment of the potatoes cost this place a five star rating along with the BBQ shrimp and grits that Tesha ordered only having 4 pieces of shrimp. All in all the decor was groovy our waitress nice and informative. Wouldn't rule out coming here again. read more

SUMMARY (for those short on time) Ruby Slipper Cafe is a cafe, specializing in breakfast, brunch and lunch menu items. While they have multiple locations, this one is very charming, as it's located in an old bank building (if you look around you can envision what it must've been like back in the day as a bank). It's located within walking distance of the Royal Frenchman hotel, where I stayed. We had brunch on a Monday morning, and were seated around 10:30 am without a wait. As we dined, I noticed they eventually had a waitlist for tables. The menu offerings all looked delicious, and the service was very friendly. PRE-DINING The cafe is walkable from some of the well known hotels in the area. I do not recall seeing a parking lot, but I would call ahead if you are concerned about parking a car, as there may only be street parking. I was seated right away, but it looks like you can add yourself to a waitlist from their website. AMBIANCE The cafe has a casual vibe, so you'll fit right in should you just be climbing out of bed after a fun night out in New Orleans. This location used to be a bank, so look around and read the fun facts on the blackboard above the bar. SERVICE Our server was very friendly, and enthusiastic about the menu. She was able to make recommendations which both my husband and I enjoyed! F & B To start, I had the infused vodka Bloody Mary. The mix was very good, with just a little spice. For my meal, I had one of the Blackstone Benedicts and one of the Sausage Gravy Benedicts. If you ask, they will let you combine them like this! I would definitely recommend Ruby Slipper for their delicious brunch options and friendly service! read more

The staff was amazing! Michelle is the #1 server to have for your dining pleasure! If she isn't available- her number two is Jack, who is pretty "ok'ish" Jamal was beyond welcoming and sang for me for my 50th birthday breakfast. I can't say enough good things about this place. It's unassuming and has the perfect vibe. You would be cheating yourself if you did not visit this establishment. Every city should be so lucky to have a place like this to enjoy a fantastic meal! read more

This was a wonderful experience and great place to come for brunch. Definitely recommend joining the waitlist to minimize your wait. After joining it, we waited about 30 minutes which wasn't terrible considering it was estimated to be about 50! Everything tasted great. Very busy so we did have to try to flag down our waitress sometimes, but all in all, a must-try in NOLA! read more
Came here based on a recommendation and I was NOT disappointed. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. I had the Chicken St. Charles and OMG! It was amazing! The Tasso sauce on it is evvverrrything. The portion size is good. You may even have leftovers. The French toast sticks were very sweet. Toasty and crunchy on the outside but fluffy on the inside. Their portion is pretty big for French toast. Their cranberry mimosas are good. This is def. going to be my to go brunch place when I visit New Orleans. read more

My experience here didnt start off well due to technical errors. The restaurant has a feature on yelp to get in line because this place always has a wait. I watched the app as the people listed in front of me dwindled down. It wasn't clear that you have you to check in and some people where sat in front of us so when the app went from 3 ppl in front of us to 7 I went inside. They said the system didnt alert them and so once they knew I was there I felt like they should have seated us next but we waited longer and it defeated the purpose of the feature. The food was great though and worth the wait. I got the Salmon Bennie which comes on two biscuits and is sooo filling! Definitely a plate you can share. My daughter got the Cinnamon swirl pancake which was yummy and my friend really enjoyed the Grilled St Peter, the grit cake was sooooo good. Their Mimosas are huge and they a great options! Idalis was a great waitress and turned my experience around! read more

There was a wait, but thanks to Yelp's waitlist, we reserved a spot in line. There were 14 parties ahead of us, so by the time we actually arrived at the restaurant, there were only 3 parties ahead of us, and we only waited for around 10 minutes in person. I've never been big on eggs, meaning I never had any sort of poached eggs before visiting The Ruby Slipper. I saw a lot of hype regarding their Chicken St. Charles, and my love for fried chicken and biscuits led me to order it. God, I was not disappointed in any way. It was MAGNIFICENT. I wish I could order it from all the way over here in Texas. Honestly, I don't think anyone can simply just describe how good it is -- you've got to try it for yourself! Oh, and the creamy vanilla iced coffee is delicious as well; I should've asked for a refill or second order. The service was also insanely sweet and hilarious. I can't recommend this restaurant enough for brunch; just make sure you reserve a spot in line ;-) read more

This is a pretty famous New Orleans chain. They have a handful of locations throughout town. The Marigny location was easy to get to, and had ample booth and table seating. They had some outside tables as well on the front sidewalk. The menu was sizable and had sandwiches, pancakes, French toast, poached eggs, and "lighter fare." The portions are huge! I ordered the croque madam and it came with a sandwich made of two large pieces of challah bread plus a generous side of fries. It could easily have fed two people! It was so rich tasting, making it a little hard to eat quickly. This is the place if you want a hearty and heavy breakfast. read more

I see No Wait app sends me here. Am I still able to get into line?
If there's no wait, there's no line...it seems to update in real time because I kept refreshing it when it said no wait, and then it popped up there was a 5 minute wait. That was when I was able to "get in line" on the app.
Hi. Is there a separate gluten-free menu. Can menu items be made gluten free?
