Spotted this place across the street from our Air b&b while in town for business and decided to swing in for a late breakfast. I was very impressed with the service and friendliness of the staff and the food was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend and will return again when back in NOLA next. read more

Today was our first visit to Ruby Slipper and it will not be our last. When you walk in you first see a beautifully decorated space and are greeted by the friendly staff and the tantalizing aromas of the deliciousness that will soon make its way to your table. Our server, Teri, was wonderful. She was friendly, engaging, and was very helpful with finalizing our choices from all the options between the menu and the specials. We had the Southern BLT (a BLT with Fried Green Tomatos) and the Biscuits & Gravy. Both were delicious! We're already looking forward to our next visit. read more

Sick good Benedicts and mighty fine, fluffy biscuits. Sorry we couldn't make it back before we left.

Sunday means BRUNCH! While Dorothy may tell you there's no place like home, I highly suggest clicking your heels three times and heading to Ruby Slipper Cafe for what may be the best brunch in all of Louisiana. I will say that I might be a tad biased toward Ruby Slipper Cafe thanks to my dear friends and former Baton Rouge CM set up a pandemic-era virtual event with one of the chefs of this amazing group of restaurants. We virtually learned how to make their marquee cinnamon swirl pancakes. Obviously we knew if the chef could help us make them taste so good in our own home, that the real deal must be mind blowing. And they were! The food at Ruby Slipper Cafe is what brunch dreams are made of. The cinnamon swirl pancakes were a sugary dance of flavor. Crispy and flavorful throughout the meal. A perfect way to start your day. We also ordered the trifecta, which is three of their most popular benies. It was a great way to be able to sample a few different flavors. There was a shrimp eggs benedict that was so good. The fried chicken benie was tender on the inside with a satrisfingly crisp crust. Then the true standout, the pulled beef benie. Wow so flavorfully moist with a deep smokiness that had me flying out of their like a monkey with wings. And you can't properly brunch without some boozie bevvies! We started with a Pride Month flight of mimosas. The colors really popped like a bottle of champagne. The most tasty offering in this collection of drinks was the strawberry basil mimosa. Bold flavor profile for sure, but don't know if I could drink a full sized one. We also got a morning margarita and a milky beverage that I didn't try because it wouldn't have mixed well with the rest of my acidic drinks. The coffee at Ruby Slipper was also really great! It was coffee roasted by French Truck which is another local chain. It was a great way to balance out the brunch drinks. The price was right too. It was a little high as we were just outside a very touristy zone, but we also had several drinks. I loved that you could scan a unique QR code on the check to pay using Apple Pay on your phone. Gotta love technology making it easier to spend your hard earned cash. Don't be intimidated by lines to get into Ruby Slipper, they hustle and get you in and out in a fair amount of time. (Not saying they rush you though!) This particular location is a slightly farther walk, but felt more set up for locals than folx in town for a brief visit. read more

Great chicken! Awesome service! Definitely packed. You have to try the chicken! Great atmosphere, definitely recommend.

We love this breakfast place. Customer service is top notch. Food is delicious! Exactly what you are looking for in a brunch spot. Jessica was a great server! But the man here is Q, he is the ambassador for this restaurant! Get the biscuits and gravy!' Only reason not 5 star is sometimes it is a bit slow. read more

We have been to some of the other Ruby Slippers and they have been fine. This one was markedly better all the way around. Megen was our server and she was outstanding. She helped us pick out brunch choices. I had the Breakfast Tacos and my wife had the One Tomato, Two Tomato. Their fried green tomatoes maybe the best I have ever had and that's saying something in the south. My tacos were delicious even though the potatoes were a little average compared to all the other food. We also had the mimosa flight which was a lot of fun and yummy. We can't wait to come back and hopefully Megen will be out server again. See you soon! read more

Was looking for brunch closeby to our Airbnb and this spot was a welcome sight. Even in pouring rain, it had folks lined up outside waiting for a table. We finally got our table and then service was friendly and quick. We had the eggs cochon and the peacemaker. This place was amazing! Parking was super easy and staff very welcoming. Once inside there was no wait, vaccination card or negative Covid test required to enter. We were escorted to our seats instantly. Waiter came over and was super friendly and welcoming. He suggested drinks and menu items. I ended up ordering the big easy mimosa, fried green tomatoes and the sweet heat chicken and French toast bites. The mimosas were warm, but delicious. I ended up adding some ice from my water to it and all was well (if you prefer your mimosa cold). The fried green tomatoes came out next. They were hot, tasty and soul snatching. Seasoned well. Dressed well. Down right delicious! The chicken and French toast was next. Chicken was on the spicy side, which I love but beware if you don't. Super tasty, juicy, and seasoned well. Perfectly crispy! The French toast was in cubes which was different but they definitely didn't disappoint. Crispy, sweet, just the right amount of syrup. I didn't have to add anything to any of the meal. Perfectly crafted!! Overall, service was excellent, food was excellent. I'd definitely return again!!! read more

Where do I start...where do I start!? If there is one word that I can sum up about this place I would say "perfection." Southern hospitality is a real thing and the customer service at this location is unmatched. Michelle, our waitress was very accommodating and for that she earned a great tip from my group. Everyone in my group said this was the best breakfast ever! The prices were very reasonable and the wait time was only 20 mins at 9am. The pictures that I uploaded speak for themselves. You won't be disappointed with this place! read more

Great southern brunch. Great value for the food and the size of the entrees. It is by reservation only so make sure to reserve. They have a waitlist but it does take time. We waited for at least 30 more minutes after the initial 20 minutes we were told our table is ready. Make sure to hydrate and you can buy drinks at the bar while you are waiting for your table or stand in the shade across the street. The flights are very affordable and it's nice to try different drinks without buying a regular size drinks. We enjoy everything we ordered and the favorite is the watermelon drink. read more

The breakfast here was fantastic. I had the Banana Foster Pain Perdu. My sister had the shrimp and grits. We shared an order of fried green tomatoes. I saw one of the servers walk by with the fried green tomatoes and had to get some! Everything was delicious. Our server Johnathan was awesome. It was a super hot day and they were very busy but he was patient and kind the entire time. One tip make sure you get on the waiting list before you arrive. read more

How did I go to school in New Orleans and didn't know about this Gem? Or should I say Ruby?! For starters, I love any establishment that allows you to "join the waitlist" before coming. It makes planning and being efficient so easy! We were sat less than 5 minutes from checking in and were greeted by our server immediately. The atmosphere is your typical NOLA dive, with great people and even better vibes. The decorations fit the Ruby Slipper theme and seemed like classic paintings and art. The food was ON point! It came out hot and fresh within 30min and I was beyond full! read more

We came here and the service was great! We got here right at 12 on a Thursday and there were plenty of seats. We ordered the eggs cochon, the blue crab cakes and the seasonal peaches and cream beignets. The eggs cochon were pretty good although the hollandaise was on the salty side. The crab cakes were good but once again the hollandaise was salty and they were pretty small for $12.50. The peaches and cream beignets were amazing though! So warm, creamy and just the right amount of sweetness! I highly recommend them! read more

Food and service is always great and so are the mimosas! The candied bacon , the pancakes, shrimp and grits are some of my favorites!

I find it rare when an establishment can find a way to open satellite locations that are as good as the original. In the case of this location, Ruby Slipper has successfully done so. The food is as good. The drinks are as good. The service is as good, or better. The atmosphere is definitely better. It's hard to beat an historic bank building! We walked over for breakfast this morning. Due to ridiculously cold weather, we had to sit inside, which we've been avoiding, in general, during the pandemic. We felt perfectly safe due to the cleanliness of the restaurant, spacing of the tables, the masking of staff and availability of hand sanitizer. The hostess was pleasant and professional. The server was awesome. Wonderful eggs benedict. The biscuits and gravy, while not the very best in the city, are easily in the top 5. Great mimosas. The candied bacon appetizer was pretty good, but doesn't quite compare to the praline bacon at Elizabeth's. read more

I've been here 3 times and after the first time was really happy and had a good experience. Went the last 2 weekends in a row and waited for our food order for over an hour each time. The first time they were very apologetic. The second time the manager stopped by and checked on our food that "was being plated" but still took another 10 minutes before it came out so that didn't real feel true. No apology or anything. Yes, the place is busy but an hour for an omelet and French toast should not take that long. Will definitely give it some time before we try it again. read more

Ruby Slipper Marigny - Shrimp Benedict (left) & Crawfish & Grits Benedict (right) - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - New Orleans, Louisiana

Biked over to this place for our first breakfast in New Orleans. This location appears to have been set up in a former bank. The bar was clearly once a teller's booth, and the windows are high near the ceiling. We were served quicker than the girls could decide their orders. I ended up getting the Peacemaker, which allows you to choose two of their Eggs Benedict dishes. I chose the cochon pork and fried chicken. Both were served on a deliciously dense southern buttermilk biscuit. The eggs were perfectly poached, with a nice runny yolk. The service was quick and consistent with the southern hospitality I've been seeing everywhere else. read more

Great service, all the servers were super nice and employees checked in with us frequently. The food...I could truly eat here every single day. It's filling, and very reasonably priced for the amount and quality. The split plate Benedict option is awesome because it was impossible to choose between all of the amazing options. French toast bites were soooo crispy and perfectly sweet. Coffee beverages are a win, hoping to try a cocktail next time. Just an all around great brunch spot! read more

We didn't even know this Ruby Slipper was here! We were so surprised to stumble upon the big red slipper. It was somewhat busy, but we were greeted right away by what appeared to be the manager. She was walking past with a clipboard, talking to everyone, when she noticed us by the door. She asked if we had been helped (which is rare nowadays). She proceeded to walk us to a booth, giving us some suggestions and sharing her favorite meals. The ambiance was familiar, the staff was hustling, so we were excited to be there since we often eat at the other locations, but with a much longer wait. I decided on the Eggs Benedict, and my friend had the smashburger, which looked AMAZING. The store manager came around with some samples, which we didn't end up purchasing, but we did enjoy the flights like she suggested. I normally don't leave reviews, but I wanted to share since the visit was so pleasant, not to mention it was 20 minutes until closing. This staff still provided great service. Oh, the best part, the ladies' room was so darn clean and smelled so nice. We did want to give extra kudos to Mr. Jack and the nice manager (don't remember her name, but she was an older, lighter-skinned lady with the biggest smile and braces). They definitely made this visit an afternoon of warmth and gained some new loyal customers. Keep up the good work. GIVE THESE GUYS A RAISE!!! WE WILL BE BACK..... read more

I never felt so strongly the struggle between caving into a very touristy seeming establishment vs joining the many positive reviewers in trying an amazing brunch. Sometimes you're on vacation and you just crave some good breakfast foods! The waiting system is terrible though. You have to get on the online waitlist and then they give you an estimated time. You have to then walk into the restaurant at your own initiative to check in if a table is ready for you then get possibly another estimated wait time. I only say that because I walked in and they told me that I could probably just sit at the bar, and it almost sounded like I probably could've been seated much earlier, but it was an excuse to pre-work off the calories by walking around the French Quarter and going back. The fried green tomatoes were surprisingly good, you really can't go wrong with breaded foods, but the bacon onion jam added a nice sweetness to each bite. I had the entire thing myself, on top of the Peacemaker (Cochon and St. Charles) dish. The benedicts I found pretty standard. Generous amount of protein on top, and I love benedicts on top of biscuits especially. Nothing wow, but I'm also used to fancy brunch spots in San Francisco. If anyone has been, I think Brenda's are better. I don't think it's a must-go, but if you must. Go. read more

We spent over a week in town and this is THE SPOT. We ate here several mornings, including the morning of our flight. Q and Charmaine - thank you for the hospitality, your kindness and for making us feel like we're at home and with family. We couldn't have asked to meet better people here in New Orleans. This place is a must visit. The food is AMAZING and well worth any wait they may have. The building itself has some history and be sure to ask your server about it if you're not familiar with it. My girlfriend LOVES the bennies - they poached each egg perfectly every time we ordered including on a busy weekend morning. You'll feel right at home here - just be sure to take care of the staff on your way out. Thank you to everyone at the Ruby Slipper. read more

** COVID INDOOR DINING REVIEW ** During our second visit to New Orleans (Nov. 2020) leaving without eating at Ruby Slipper Cafe was NOT AN OPTION! Our friends were in town and we told them to prepare for the most indulgent, delicious brunch ever! --They were not disappointing. I can admit that I was absolutely eating with my eyes a bit while ordering but every single morsel was worth it. We ordered the salmon and goat cheese omelet with cheese grits, stuffed French toast, and chicken eggs Benedict. I'm not even exaggerating when I say that my salmon omelet was rich, creamy, and truly an out-of-body experience! I got it last time and was impressed to see that it still tasted SO DAMN GOOD. In addition to all of the delicious eeeeats, we all had brunch cocktails to wash it all down. I had the Brandy Milk Punch and my BF had the Irish Cream Coffee. 5/5! Finally, the staff - from the host to our waiter - were all amazingly pleasant and awesome, despite the busy brunch rush. As we all know, this hospitality has a way of elevating the dining experience even more. We felt so at home, and there is truly no better feeling. With the uncertainty of COVID, there is one thing I am certain about: Ruby Slipper Cafe will *always* be on my list when I am in town. read more

Pro Tip: Avoid waiting in line and use NoWait. We didn't use the NoWait option and put our name down and after 45 minutes we were finally seated. Right after we put our name down we headed to the bar to get 2 Bloody Marys which took about 10 minutes to order because there was a long line and only 1 bartender for the entire restaurant. But what was frustrating was that after we ordered, people that came after us were getting their drinks and we were completely skipped over. After bringing it to their attention they made our drinks but no apology or attempt to make things better. 25 minutes after placing the order we got our Bloody Marys - absolutely absurd! HOUSE BACON-INFUSED VODKA BLOODY MARY $10 *The Bloody Mary was very bacon-y and garnished with some delicious crispy briny green beans and extra crispy bacon. BBQ SHRIMP & GRITS $15 Sauteed Gulf shrimp with beer & rosemary butter reduction, over creamy stone ground grits served with a buttermilk biscuit *tiny tasteless shrimp with gummy grits THE TRIFECTA $20 Taste of the Ruby Slipper Cafe featuring one serving each of Eggs Cochon, Chicken St. Charles & Shrimp Boogaloo Benedicts *biscuits were dense, gummy and disgusting and I barely picked at the toppings on each benedict After waiting 25 minutes to get Bloody Marys and 1 hour to eat brunch, to say I was underwhelmed would be an understatement.
