I have eaten at a Ruby Slipper in New Orleans, So was excited to see the one open up in Destin Fl. I live in Panama city, and traveled over just for breakfast this am, The service was amazing, very friendly staff, The coffee was good and hot and cup was kept full. I ordered the peach stuffed french toast and it was amazing. I posted about it on facebook when I was there and a friend and her mother from Niceville said the food looked so good they were on there way to have brunch. They enjoyed it as well. After making reservations at Soleil in Destin and being ignored for 25 minutes.........we left and went to Ruby Slipper. We put our names on the waitlist while in transit, our wait was 10-15 minutes, but-no problem - the bar provided us with a drink to get started! Food was VERY good. Reasonably priced. The only good thing about this restaurant was the waitress. Food was subbpar/gross. Given the rating I had higher expectations. I ordered the crab omelet but there was so much goat cheese and the texture of the omelet was dry that it tasted like rubbery puke. The best was the appetizer of candied bacon and French toast bites. Second time we come and food was great. Service was pleasant too. The only thing was that we had 13 people in our party and they could not accommodate parties larger than 9 so we had to break into 7 and 6. The first 7 were seated but the other 6 waited 20-30 min while parties of 6 and 8 kept being seated. A party of 8 were sat in two tables and after the guy bribe the hostess they made arrangements to sit them together. I could not believe it. Wife and I went here for breakfast and must say service was just poor. Waiter's name was Jerry and he seem uninterested in working that day. We told our waiter that the coffee was cold. He took both cups and quickly returned with coffee at the same temperature of the first cups. We called the waiter again and told him there was no change to the coffee temperature and asked him if someone could reheat the coffee. It was then that Jerry told us they did not have a microwave. This confirms what we already knew; the waiter did nothing to address our concern about the cold coffee and thought we would not find out. We were in Ft Walton Beach for a long weekend. A friend highly recommended the Ruby Slipper Cafe. This location had only been open a few weeks. Our server, Jillian was attentive and very nice. Answered any questions we had. Overall great service. The food was very tasty. However, it was warm not hot. My wife had the build your own omelette. I had the Trifecta.
