Fried green tomato was the thickness of a piece of cardboard, absolutely horrible. Drinks were ok, even though a mimosa should be made with cold champagne... On Mother's Day our wait was only 20 minutes. What a great experience! The food was really good. I had the Southern BLT and it was delicious. The service was impeccable. Starting this review before the food arrives...if it ever does. Not a busy or crowded day - steady occupancy. We got seated in the bar section and bartender took our order quickly. No water offered. Ordered after about five minutes. That's good. Bartender goes about bussing and cleaning completely ignoring that I ordered a cocktail from her. When she comes to refill coffee 15 minutes after ordering, I ask about the drink and the look of embarrassment tells me everything. Drink was brought a few minutes later by a different server without even a polite, "enjoy." Just bruskly put on the table. Thirty minutes later, different server brings food. Cold food. Sad. I never leave negative reviews except for sanitation or obnoxious service. I understand things happen. Hoping the food will make up for the service. Food was tasty when it came out hot. I'm not much of a biscuit person but enjoyed the Bayou Shrimp in a red sauce on thick biscuits. Hubby's order was wrong but he enjoyed it anyway (ordered Bread pudding pancakes and got bacon praline). Manager and original server came by to apologize and that goes a long way to making us feel valued. We will try again another time. One star for initial service and food temp; three star for food once it came out; five star for management response to initial service. read more

Nice little place in a strip mall. Very wide ranging NOLA inspired menu that is broken down into smaller, clean groups of specialties. I have found that restaurants that have phone books for a menu, do nothing well. That isn't the case for the Ruby Slipper. Clean and concise front, back menu that is full of amazing options. All of which that I have tried great. Service when we visited was a little slow, but I suspect that was due to the employee shortage that so many restaurants today are having to deal with. That being the case, I do cut them some slack so long as the server is respectful and ours was great. I had the Trifecta. It comes with 3 bennies. One is a tomato based sauce with shrimp and eggs over a grit cake, all on top of a biscuit. The second is pulled pork with egg and a cheese sauce over a biscuit.
