My husband and I ate here for the 3rd time and was very disappointed. When the waitress brought my coffee I advised her that it tasted "old" and was lukewarm. She advised me she just made it and did not offer me another cup. We both ordered an omelet and both were burnt. Mine was so bad I could not eat it. When I told the waitress it was burnt she apologized and that was it. When she came back later and offered refill on my coffee she brought me a cup that was fresh and steaming hot which told me she was not completely honest on the first cup. The "potatoes" were greasy but was the only thing somewhat edible. So bottom line... food was horrible and wait staff did not care to try to make it right. Would not recommend this location. Came here for brunch on a Wednesday afternoon at around noon. The restaurant was fairly empty with a few tables of diners. Now I've been to the locations in New Orleans so I know what to expect from here as far as the menu goes. I've read some bad reviews about this location since it was fairly new and the people were not trained adequately. But it's been over 6 months since grand opening so I thought it should be better by now. But nope. We probably waited about 10 mins before the waitress came and took our drink orders and another 15 mins before we had to flag the manager to come take our orders. It wasn't busy and our server was just walking around and outside. As far as the food, it was decent. We ordered the trifecta and catfish and grits. 2 of the 3 poached eggs were overcooked and for me that ruined the whole Benedict dish. My husband is not too picky so he just ate them. The catfish and grits was good. Overall it was a below average experience. The workers just needed to be trained better? The ones in Nola are always crowded and the servers are always on point. I have been to the one in Marigny, Orange Beach and now Baton Rouge and I have NEVER been disappointed with any aspect of the overall experience. We wanted to try a new place. My husband loves egg benedicts and corned beef hash. When it arrived, we were surprised to see a pink hollandaise sauce, that tasted different. My husband doesnt eat biscuit and the other option was toast for his eggs, that is it! He didnt like the corned beef hash ( not really corned beef hash, more like potatoes and bacon). We called the waitress and told her he didn't like it. He asked for an omelet instead. It took 30 min to get the omelet, and at the end, we were charge for everything, even the dish he didnt eat. Went there for lunch around 1 PM. No line and was told we would have to have a high seat or the patio. Opted for patio. Numerous empty tables inside and when I asked why we couldnt sit at one of these, I was told the tables were dirty (I guess they couldnt clean them) or they were for someone (no one in line). Took 10 minutes for someone to take drink order so we ordered the special thinking it would be quick as we only had an hour. Approximately 20 to 30 minutes later the food arrived. We each left at least half of it. The biscuits were brought out with no butter and there was none on the table. Didnt see the waitress again until she came to collect my $24 for the special, a soft drink, and a tip. The sauce for the grits left an aftertaste, the catfish was mostly batter and bland. Saw them sit two ladies on the patio and sat them in the sun because the other table was dirty. They finally asked to be moved out of the sun and were accomodated to the table on the patio they originally asked for. Someone had to clean it. People like to smoke on the sidewalk, near the open patio. Smoke blows back into the patio and diners. read more

Attended Baton Rouge location for second time since they opened. First time was a pleasant experience with timely seating, attentive hostess and wait staff. Food came out on time and was delicious. However, the Aug 13 visit was a disaster. The only thing consistent was pleasant hostess and decent food. Our party of two was told to expect an hour to hour and a half wait. We told a waiter standing by the hostess stand that we'd accept bar seating as an earlier alternative. He said he'd go check and let us know. After not returning for 15 minutes, I found him waiting on other tables and asked him what the bar answer was. He said he forgot and walked off-- no apology no nothing. At this point my wife and I went into the bar area to escape the heat. No seats of course. However, in the area next to the bar, we observed three empty high top chairs and an empty corner booth which holds three. I asked the bar tender if we could sit in any of those. She said "no--those seats were all scheduled with hostess." We stood there 30 minutes with wait staff walking around and dirty plates piled up at those spaces. Eventually, patrons were seated. There are no signs posted in bar area on what seating is "open" or not. Finally, we were seated after an hour 45 min wait. Waitress took order fine and brought me a Bloody Mary. I asked her to find out why the traditional spicy green beans were missing. She returned in 10 min saying they had run out--no excuse since there's a Trader Joe's 3 doors away. A different waiter brought out the food for us and another family next to us on a high top table. For both families, he threw down the plates and took off--not noticing that none of us had silverware. We were able to find our own at an adjoining open table (now available since restaurant had closed). Food was adequate but uninspiring after all the previous drama. We love the New Orleans Magazine St location and have never had any problems there--Baton Rouge store better wise up or they'll be gone just like their predecessor who occupied that same space. read more

So I glanced over at this other table n whoa a lady was vaping at her table n she had the same server which he was talking to her while she vaped! The hostesses are idiots! We were a party of six and they told us it was a 30 minute wait. The rest of our party was not there and the hostess argued with me that our party wasn't complete. I said by the time 30 minutes is here that our party will be here so please mark us down as complete, they're on their way so we are complete. I've been here twice, and am unlikely to go again. I was very excited to see this restaurant open up in BR as I've been to the Nola locations several times and loved it. The service here has been terrible both times. The first time I went with a group of about 10 people and it was shortly after they opened, so I wasn't expecting the best experience. But the second time it was just my boyfriend and I on a Saturday morning. We weren't in a rush and wanted to have a drink before we ordered our food. Apparently it was a mistake to let our waitress know we weren't in a hurry, because we ended up sitting around waiting for her to come back to our table with empty cups for quite some time... The food is good, however my boyfriend ordered the Grilled Fish St. Peter, and was very disappointed to find that the grits were deep fried when the menu does not give any indication of that whatsoever. read more

I got on the Yelp waitlist and arrived 13 minutes before closing. I planned to eat quickly and not hold up the staff too long, but there was a table of 4-6 waiting on their order, and I was by myself. The bartender greeted me with a smile, instead of dreading a late customer. The hostess was pleasant and told me I could sit anywhere I wanted, even though the side I wanted had just been cleaned and could have been "closed" for the day. I knew what I wanted and the order came out right before 3. One of my requests was missed, but they quickly and cheerfully corrected it. I could hear the kitchen staff, and no one complained about fixing my order. I heard Justin L. affirming what I requested. Add to that, a perfectly made omelet and biscuits, and it was a great late meal. Justin L. was attentive and apologetic when there was no more unsweetened iced tea for a refill. He offered another beverage. Since I only drink tea and water, I requested hot English Breakfast tea, but they were out. I requested the tea to be taken off my bill--no problem. To Justin L's credit, he offered to make more tea, but it would take 10 minutes. I didn't want to do that to them. I was out by 3:24, and another table was still finishing. There was no rush to leave, even though I'm sure they were tired. Delicious food--so good, I came back today when I'd had it for breakfast the day before. Both times, whether at a busy 9 AM or a sleepy 2:45 PM, the service and food was excellent! My only suggestion would be to maybe try to have some tea on hand for late arrivals, if possible. A group of 8 came to this location at 8AM on a weekday. We were promptly greeted and seated and waited for about 5 minutes until our waitress came and said good morning and took our drink orders. She started taking our food orders, stopped after taking 3 of them and then left. She returned with half of our drinks, placed them down then left. While we were waiting for her to return to take the rest of our orders and bring the rest of our drinks, the 3 of us that ordered food received our food but we still didn't have drinks or silverware to eat our food. My bacon was super dry so I asked the lady who brought us our food out if I could get some that wasn't so overcooked which she happily did for me and she also brought us silverware. We waited for a while but never saw our waitress so we asked for a manager. She quickly came out and asked what she could help with and sure enough, our waitress popped right up and apologized and took the rest of our orders. Our food came out pretty quickly but two of the egg white omelets that were ordered came out as regular eggs. They apologized and promptly fixed it. The food was average but my biscuit was very dry and wasn't warm. The butter it came with was delicious which helped. The manager came and told us that she would comp the two tickets that had the messed up omelets which was very kind! Our waitress never returned while we were eating to check on us and we had to flag her down to get our tickets. She came out with all of our tickets but one of the tickets with the comped omelet wasn't correct so she reprinted it and it was still wrong. On the fourth try she finally got it right and after 2 long hours we were able to leave. Please retrain your staff- we certainly won't be returning to this poorly serviced restaurant. read more

Finally decided to try it. The Bloody Mary and mimosas are good, not extraordinary as the price tag would imply. Design layout leaves so much to be desired, you feel as though you're in a cattle chute coming through the front door, in times of inclement weather, such as today, this is most distressing. We waited an hour (the app telling you your place in line is great) to be seated in a booth by the back door, finally had a waitress show up who couldn't tell me the white wine choice (there is only one). The constant parade of people exiting the rear door was finally punctuated by the screaming of a uncontrolled child next to us. Perhaps it is the best brunch menu in town, I don't know, we cancelled our order and left. I could've waited for the food to make my final decision, but there is nothing in this world someone could fix and bring out that would have justified staying in that environment another five minutes. read more

This breakfast spot was highly recommended to me and I was excited to try it. My initial dish I ordered was prepared wrong, no big deal so I ordered something else. When it came out, it was undercooked and didn't look right (I decided to try the same dish my friend had and there was a noticeable difference in how it was prepared). I think they may have been trying to rush my order out since the first one was wrong. My server called the manager over and he seemed as if he couldn't comprehend the problem. I explained to him what happened and everyone, including the tables next to us, could see that there was something wrong with my dish. He tried to blame my server and I kept telling him it wasn't her fault because she's not in the kitchen cooking the food. After about 10 minutes of going back and forth, he finally agreed and remove both dishes off my ticket. I ended up leaving hungry and disappointed. read more

Went to the Ruby Slipper today with two friends. One friend was at the restaurant another was running late and lost. I requested we be seated and that another person may or may not make it. The girls doing the seating pointed to a no join sign and stated no one would be seated until the entire party arrived. The two of us could be seated but In the event our friend did join us she was not allowed to order food only something to drink. I thought she was kidding . I returned to tell my friend the news and we asked to speak with the manager. Who reinforced the policy. We chose to wait and eventually our other friend arrived. The restaurant was small and very noisy. The server was friendly and our food was good but pricey at $15.00 for the Eggs Blackstone which I ordered. It was good but the policy the noise and the size of the restaurant were not enough to make me revisit this restaurant. read more
