We decided to try this place because we trust Yelp! We sat for over 20 minutes without acknowledgment from anyone, not even a "good morning, someone will be with you soon" and that's that the waitress came to the table next to us a couple of times and made sure not to even look at us. Never got to try the food at this location we have in other locations and it was good that's why we decided to try this one. Place looked nice and clean, and for December 24 not overly crowded. The whip cream adds the perfect cooling taste to it all. I personally had their Biscuits and Gravy and absolutely delicious, the gravy was creamy, the sausage was perfectly cooked and seasoned! My friend and I were in town for the UF vs LSU game and we decided to grab brunch before venturing around the city. Although Ruby Slipper Cafe didn't have the highest reviews, the ambiance looked nice and so we decided to chance it. When we arrived, there were lots of people waiting outside - turns out the wait was a true hour for a table for two on this particular Saturday. Luckily, Ruby Slipper Cafe is located in a busy shopping center so we killed some time at Lululemon and Trader Joe's. When our table was called, there was still a long line inside, but we walked right up and were seated right away. The ambiance of the restaurant is busy and bustling but not loud. There's the typical brunch energy in the air, with excited patrons enjoying cups of coffee ready to dig in to their meals. Curious, I ordered the MIMOSA FLIGHT: sparkling wine paired with Blueberry Lavender, Watermelon Pomegranate, Pineapple Peach Bellini, and Blue Orange. Due to some accident at the bar, this didn't arrive until after our meals were delivered, but y'all. This is AWFUL. Hands down and easily the worst mimosas I've ever had in my life. My first taste was the blood orange and turns out, that was the only decent one. I forced down most of the pineapple peach bellini and could not even drink the blueberry lavender or watermelon pomegranate holding my nose. I hate wasting alcohol but I simply could not drink these. I'm not sure what made these drinks so awful, but omgosh, bad bad bad. On to the food! I wanted to experience some Louisiana influence, so I had the GULF FISH CREOLE: grilled gulf fish, corn maque choux, flash-fried capers, gulf shrimp and creole sauce. This dish was very delicious! The fish was cooked well and I liked the combination of the corn with the creole sauce. No complaints here. My friend had the SWEET HEAT CHICKEN & FRENCH TOAST BITES: Fried chicken and fresh strawberries tossed in Mike's Hot Honey glaze over French toast bites. He was intrigued by the Mike's Hot Honey glaze versus having the entire dish drenched in maple syrup. He ended up finishing every bite so I think he'd recommend the dish! I had a bite of the fried chicken and it was juicy and delicious. Service was great and attentive. Overall not too many complaints about this place, however, I wouldn't say the food (and definitely not the drinks) are worth the hour wait if that's what it takes to dine here. read more

I was really excited to return to a RS location as I have been to ones in New Orleans and Charlotte. Today's visit felt like a betrayal of everything I know about RS. I knew the wait times got a little crazy and got on the list via their website. No problems with getting sat after checking in and short wait. Got sat behind the bar in the corner booth and didn't get service for 15 minutes. Ordered the migas and breakfast sandwich with potatoes. Cheese on sandwich was so cold like it was an after thought. Potatoes were burnt and looked like they came from the bottom of the bag. Eggs on migas were so wet I thought they were undercooked. Everything was so bad. The waiter removed the migas from the bill and brought a new cup of potatoes that didn't look much better than the original order. I would go back in New Orleans and maybe another city but this place is off my Baton Rouge list. read more

Great traditional breakfast spot in Baton Rouge! I came here on a Saturday morning and it was definitely busy! I was able to get in right away because I was willing to sit at the bar however it was about 20-30 min wait for people who preferred a table. Apparently you can go online and reserve a waiting time but you still have to checkin once you get there, which seemed to be the same wait time as just walking in without checking in online. Food was very delicious and their hot coffee really hit the spot for me on a cold morning that it was. Ambiance was like a traditional brunch spot, it was clean, busy , and the smell of bacon filling the air ! I highly recommend coming here for you breakfast/brunch mornings and don't be surprised if there's a little bit of a wait on a weekend morning, but it'll be worth the wait! read more

Had a great brunch while visiting LSU with my son and friends. This place may have been busier because of game day (Geaux Tigers!) but we didn't mind sitting at the small bar but otherwise a 15 minute wait for 3 at 10 am isn't too bad for a brunch spot in college town. Clean space with bar seating for few solo or twosomes for quick seating and they have a great list of cocktails for those interested. I am an eggs Benedict fanatic... The 1/2 and 1/2 eggs Benedict "Peacemaker" with the Cochon and Blackstone was a match made in belly heaven for me! Great poached egg and I added some breakfast potatoes to complete. My son ordered French toast which my dad tax verified as tasty. Also the French toast sampler allowed everyone to try a bite or two. The food came out without delay. The staff was attentive to our needs. Highly recommend for brunch and hopefully my son gets accepted and this gives me a spot to visit in the future! read more

I got here at 9am and had a 20 min wait. I ordered beignets and the beignets were coated in (possibly) sour cream and walnuts, which was really weird. Not exactly Louisiana style beignets. They were small and had a cake like texture. Definitely save your beignets money for coffee call instead. The Gulf shrimp benedict was good. I recognized the shrimp as frozen wild caught Gulf shrimp. I was told Ruby Slipper was an institution in Baton Rouge so we visited for brunch. Made reservations and had to wait to get seated when it was time but the biscuits made it all worth it. The place gets really busy and spacing is a little tight but the service was great and the food was delicious. Visiting Baton Rouge for USBC tournament and staff at our hotel recommended this place naming the St Charles biscuit (?) thing. We decided to try it and we loved it! I got a ham and cheese omelet, and the other two ordered sweet heat chicken French toast bites and other got classic breakfast sandwich. We all ordered coffee. The food was excellent, we all cleaned out plates in short order. The coffee was great as well, worth the price. Service was great, our server came by plenty of times for us to get refills and was very pleasant. Ambiance was pretty much on par with most breakfast places, fancier than a Waffle House but not as fancy as what you would find in a 5 star hotel. Would definitely recommend, especially because of how good the coffee is. Cost was $75 for 3 people (that includes the tip and a less than one dollar donation). The portion sizes won't wow bigger eaters, BUT...I am one of those bigger eaters and I definitely walked out plenty full. read more

Fantastic southern style food. I had the southern breakfast. My husband got the trifecta and absolutely loved the fried green tomato that was part of the meal. He said that was his favorite! Highly recommend doing this. I started off with the iced coffee, and it was delicious. I really like how they top with whipped cream and nutmeg.. different and I really like it. For my meal, I got the florentine omelet, which had goat cheese, mushrooms and spinach (I think). The omelet was perfect, not too buttery and just the right amount of 'fluff' lol. It also came with a side salad and a biscuit. Biscuit was so big and delicious! My friends got the fried tomatoe Benedict and the Migas. I had a bite of both, and so good! They also got the Bloody Mary with bacon, and it was huge! Will of course be back for another brunch! read more
