Walked in on a Monday afternoon at 5pm and there were maybe 2 other customers. From the outside you wouldn't think this place is as serene and gorgeous as it is on the inside. Black tiling on the floors, cream walls, beautiful chandelier, lots of drying stations and a large selction of nail polishes too. I was welcomed by the owner and let him know I was interested in a pedicure. I picked my color and was seated in their huge pedicure chairs that also have amazing massage capabilities. I was given a relaxing pedicure that started with a brand new set of tools (nail clip, file etc Yess!!). Also included was a hot stone leg/foot massage, parrafin wax and no cuts! Awesome!!! The nail technician did such a great job at buffing my heels without being too rough, and oooo that foot massage...it was more than needed. They would have received five stars but what they did to my friend on my last visit was rude. I am extremely picky about my nails salons. I was a huge fan of flawless until they moved locations a little over a year ago. I have been coming here for aprx 10 months and they have pleased me every time. Ruby the owner is a sweetheart always keeping an eye on her workers and assuring they do a good job. There pedicures are the BEST in the area hands down. My gel manicure usually last 2-3 weeks with no issues. Some ladies do french better then others. Stone massage with mani & pedi. Extremely clean! you can always find parking What they did to my friend our last visit was: we arrived 6:30 for pedi/mani ( i do gel she was doing a fill in) They took her for a pedicure and did my nails first. We then decided to do a spa pedicure. It was awesome as always. Super relaxing, great way to end the work week and start the weekend. We she was done about (7:30) they told her they wouldn't do her nails because they close at 8pm. That was appalling. Considering its a costumer service industry that is very rude and not professional. I get it they want to go home but so does the waiter at the restaurant when you walk in 30 mins to closing. So I'm sitting here getting a pedi as I type. The woman next to me hasn't shut up since I sat down. Just as an aside, why do women chat so much to their pedicurists? They (the pedicurists) don't give a shit about what Muffy wore to Blaine's party. The only thing these chatterboxes do is disturb everyone around them! STFU! This one got all excited when she found out her pedicurist is Korean and started raving about the delicious Korean food served at Erawan on Bell Blvd. Except Erawan is a THAI restaurant. We don't all looksame, you dumb bitch. Anyway, I adore Ruby Everyday Nail Salon. They're always so pleasant and really try to be accommodating without being sickeningly sycophantic. Their polish selection may seem a bit limited if you're into lots of different colors. I'm pretty conservative with my color choices so the relative lack of options doesn't bother me. Can I say... the Danny Meyers of nail salons? A long overdue review. I appreciate the little details that owners of any establishment put into their place and take pride in it. I love the salon decor, it is very organized, clean and like reviewers mentioned zen like. From the homemade scrubs, to the heated stones that the workers use to massage you, the baskets that are used to hold your purse to the little voltives at the drying station to hold the drying polish. Overheard a conversation with another customer and Ruby herself, she said her workers say she's tough. Although she may be, the workers all seem very happy to work there and I believe this does maintain a certain standard that is nothing less than a perfect experience for customers. Although this place a little bit more pricy than other salons. I think its worth it, for all the extra attention and care given to their customers. Nice and clean with spa like feel to the salon. Got a pedicure for $18 which included exfoliation, a short stone massage and paraffin for the heels. The owners are Chinese/Korean, but most of the nail techs are non-Asian. Not as experienced and fast as the Korean manicurists in the neighborhood. ***So I added another star to the salon because I have decided that this will be my go to salon. It's less than 5 blocks from my house and I found a nail tech that I really like. Honestly there is no other salon as nice and relaxing as Ruby's in the Bayside/Whitestone area. I have gotten different spa pedicures and all are heavenly. Got a gel manicure today and she even apply sunscreen to your hands to protect from UV light. But more importantly, she spent a good amount of time prepping my nails before the gel mani. $25 for gel mani (incl. taking off previous gel) Some places charge additional $5-$7! I don't know if it's because of the pandemic or because they bought the store next door in February and turned it into a coffee shop that they now have to cover the cost for.. probably a combination of both. I wanted to give 5 stars for the technicians who are super sweet (and the place is clean) but when you spend $60 on a gel mani and regular pedi and your color chips the next day- that's not 5 star worthy. I gave this place a try 3 times thinking the next would be better and twice they chipped the next day. The 3rd time I came back, I was on a work call and the owner came up to me and asked me to hang up the phone in exactly those words. There were other conversations going on amongst the customers and staff. Not quite sure why my call bothered her but instead of saying so when I apologized she blamed it on the other customers and said they complained. The woman next to me shrug her shoulders and said "it wasn't bothering her and that I was talking pretty low". The owner gave me major attitude, didn't say thank you or anything when I paid. There was no confrontation what so ever. When she approached me, I quickly ended the call. Not very nice to treat customers this way. Came here with a bunch of girlfriends for our mani and pedi a week ago. Had an appointment booked and all but once we entered they told us we had to wait. because they over booked themselves. And when it was our turned we didn't even get to do it at the same time.. it was more like when ever there is an open seat they directed one of us to go. When I finally got someone to do my pedi she did everything so fast .. All of the girls got a heel treatment and hot stone, and the lady I had totally skipped all those. When she brought me over to the mani side of the store. I see people getting there hands massage and everything she didn't do any of that .. not to mentioned she even over cut my cuticles where it started bleeding! Somehow one of my nail polish smudged and I asked for a retouch. So the boss asked another employee to help. Instead of being nice about it.. The guy named summer totally made a huge sigh with a gesture as if he was annoyed having to help retouch someone's nail. My cuticle still hurt from being over cut since yesterday. SUPER clean. The staff clearly puts in a lot of effort into maintaining their salon which speaks volumes to their commitment to service. They pay attention to small offerings such as a nice scrub instead of regular hand soap prior to manicure or a mini hot stone massage while receiving a pedicure. While great service, cleanliness, and great decor/ambiance are important- I had to knock a star off for getting a knick while having my cuticles cut and I will admit that I have had better polishes. I am unsure whether it is the manicurist or the actual polish to blame but my manicure was a bit streaky. I generally get gel-manicures but opted for a regular mani/pedi to try this salon out. I will have to report back post gel-mani. Perhaps I'll have better luck with a gel-manicure. :) read more

Disappointed, when I come up to visit family, I get my nails done. Have been here before and really liked it. This time not so much. The prices were higher and the service not worth it. The specialty pedicure prices were way overpriced, starting at $55. A gel polish manicure was $30. So it would've been $100 out he door with tip. Nope...I'm glad I didn't spend the money and got the regular pedicure, the lady could care less about what she was doing, not personable, and cold. I felt ignored during the service. Got a chair massage and the lady was nice, so that was worth it. If they are going to charge what a spa charges for a specialty pedicure the service needs to be upgraded. So upset! It is now 8:30a, the day of my vaca and I'm at the airport waiting on a security line when I look down and gasp! My right thumb is chipped! If I had gotten a regular manicure days ago, I wouldn't be as upset but considering that I got a gel manicure at 730p last night, I cannot believe the luck. Ivy flew through my pedi (I was done in less than 15 mins) and I had to correct her quite a few times when she was sloppy with the gel mani (ie nail edges missed). It wasn't my first choice to go to Ruby's but I had received a gift card and used it purposedly for my vaca. Also before I presented the gift card, I was told the treatment cost $52. Okay. So let me start off by saying this USE to be my favorite place. They are capable of good work, don't get me wrong.. however the experience i had yesterday was really bad. I got a spa pedi and gel mani. It all started okay, i asked the lady if she could cut the edges of my nails because I'm prone to ingrown toe nails. She cut so deep she made a huge chunk of my nail pop off. I screamed because she scared and hurt me. Im afraid now that I'm going to get an infection.. i let her proceed and she gave me an amateur pedicure. Next was my nails. Horrible. She cut my cuticles, made me bleed on not 1 but 3 fingers.. i was visibly upset no one did anything to fix what was happening. The owner just walked back and forth ignoring me. I then went up to the owner and told her that this was unacceptable and she told me " oh yea, next time ask for someone else"... why is that the solution?! You should be making sure you hire better and more qualified employees. I'll be taking my business elsewhere from now on.. This owner needs a reality check. After moving to the area recently, I figured I would try a new nail place instead of having to drive to my old one. I made the appointment for 10am on a Saturday morning by calling the day before with ease. The morning of my appointment I had difficulty getting there on time so called and asked if it was okay that I come at 11 and they said it wasn't a problem. Unfortunately even after moving my appointment I was still running late and 5 minutes after 11 they actually called me to make sure I was coming, which I found to be kind of interesting. Walking in they greeted me and told me to pick my color and the chair was waiting for me. I didn't get a chance to look at the prices before sitting but figured they would be standard and in keeping with the area. I never usually pay more than $25 for manicure, pedicure and eye brows. Once they started my pedicure I got the feeling it would be more. She used hot stones on me, a leg scrub and a heel softener. It was a very in depth and lengthy pedicure but I did enjoy it. The chair was a great massage chair as well. My manicure was similar and took just as much time. Overall, the place is very clean (everything gets wrapped in plastic before use, even the sinks!). The service was very in depth but took a very long time. I was there for almost 2 hours. My manicure instantly had air bubbles in it and began chipping just a couple days later. Although I did enjoy all the extras, I think I will stick with my other go-to nail places which are half the price, half the time and with the polish lasting twice as long. read more

Just went there this past weekend after I received a flyer in the mail. I must admit that I had some misgivings, esp after the prior review, and I am a freak for sanitary practices (I am a physician, usually bring my own instruments, and I don't understand how nail/waxing places are not held to higher standards by the NYC dept of health, especially given possibility of contact with body fluids that can and does happen). The salon decor was very nice, clean, zen-like, on par with some of the mid-upper level boutique-like places that I've been in Manhattan and Park Slope/Brooklyn Heights which I usually/preferably go to. I know, new places tend to look cleaner, but this one didn't have all of the crap/clutter that's a dust/dirt magnet. I was most pleased by the hygienic practices I observed in the salon, not only for the mani/pedi, but for my waxing as well. [In my opinion, a place that advertises instrument sanitation and shows off their sterilizer unit, but has no problem re-using their orange sticks (fungus!) or wax applicators (did you just use that on someone's pubes/Brazilian before you did my lip wax?) has bad sanitary practices and can't be that clean, no matter what they claim]. This is the first place that I can say impressed me in the local area, and I've tried about 12. The only reason I'm rating them a 4 is that the pedicurist scraped more of my right foot's normal skin than my callus (ouch!) and some of my nails are already chipped/peeling. I spoke with the pedicure guy about that, and the latter problem can be solved with a better base/top coat combo. I used to go to an all-you can eat sushi place when I was a college student. I've outgrown that. I'd also rather pay a couple of extra bucks for a mani/pedi and not get another fungus infection (thank you, not-so-clean places in Whitestone Village!). I have been coming here for a few years now. A gift certificate is my families go to present for me on all occasions (as Ruby is more expensive than other local salons). I had so many gift cards and never checked the dates, I just take one and go. They would not accept my gift card because it expired. I explaind that I have so many and didn't check but still no. Not really happy about this spot. I got seated pretty quick which is nice. The owner I'm assuming came over and was nice. She set the tools down and as I waited for my technician, and out of curiosity I picked up the sterilized tools pouch and was checking them out casually to see how clean it is. The owner briskly walked over and goes "what are you looking at?" I told her I was checking to make sure it's clean, as I've had a bad experience with getting an infection from another salon before. She goes "but never from my salon right so why are you looking?" "If you don't trust my tools get your own tools" "all my girls are very clean" "you went to a bad salon" "this doesn't happen here I'm the best salon". All because I was checking to see how clean the tools are and I never insinuated they weren't clean. She leaves me alone and the technician starts to work on my nails. She cut them way too short but it was fine. When she started filing them down that's when I let out a little cry. She rolled her eyes at me! Like you are hurting me and you act like it's an inconvenience to you! This nail salon is right down the block from my house so I thought I would give it a try. I walked in with my boyfriend and they offered us the couples room. It was really nice two chairs in a small room very relaxing. Kevin did my mani pedi and did a fabulous job. He took his time and made sure everything was perfect. The salon itself is relaxing quiet and very very clean. The prices are a little bit more expensive compared to the millions of nail salons on Francis Lewis blvd. but it is worth the few extra dollars. I will definitely be returning. read more

I called and asked how much a gel mani and regular pedi would be. They tell me $45 and I'm thinking, thats great. Long story short they charged me $66 and lied to me over the phone and in person. Let it be known that I would never pay $75 dollars (with tip) for a literal mani/pedi that was mediocre. So thats that. I get to the place, have my nails done, and the gel lamp they used just did not work so they had to half file off the gel on my nails and then RE-PAINT over the half filed gel, and then use a different lamp. So now I have like 3.5 coats of polish on. When I confronted them about the nail situation and my bill, I was dismissed and the woman in the front was flat out arguing with me. After I paid I went to tip and she MADE SURE that I knew that two different people did my mani/pedi and was pushing me to direct me on where to go when I was capable of walking myself.
