I've been seeing Sky for the past year, and unfortunately this was my worst experience so far. I showed her a picture of the nails I wanted, and she said she could do it. She started by painting the nails that didn't require a design, but when it was time for the base color for the design, the polish ran out and there was no backup. At that point, I had no choice but to make all my nails the same color since some were already painted. She also applied a tip on one of my nails. I specifically reminded her beforehand to make sure it wasn't raised because this has happened before. When I left, I noticed the tip was raised again, so I went back to have it fixed. While she was repairing it, she told me, "You should start seeing another technician next time, not me." I was honestly shocked. She spoke to me as if these nails were done for free. I ended up with nails I didn't like and a technician who had an attitude. I spoke with the manager, Karina, who even mentioned herself that a couple of technicians have spoken to clients this way in the past. And didn't do anything to the situation she just agreed and nodded when I was informing her what happened. Just a heads up to anyone thinking of going be careful. read more

I've been here before to get my eyelashes done and I was very pleased with how they came out that I decided to come back and this time get a mani and pedi. They did excellent with timing.. I was impressed especially for it being a Saturday afternoon. The lady who did my pedi and nails did an awesome job. Took her time and was precise. Loved that the pedi chairs are couches and covered for every guest with sanitary paper. Someone came over with a drink menu and I ordered a mimosa served in a nice disposable cup. I loved the overall cleanliness and precaution taken here. I got my lashes done with Casey-she was also amazing! However, when I went to pay I looked at my receipt and they charged me $30 for chrome!!! $30?!? For you to rub powder on my nail? I was beside myself. That is absolutely ridiculous. I used to go to Johnny's years ago before I moved. I've been so unhappy with every other nail salon I've tried that I've decided to just make the trip to Johnny's (now on Northern instead of Francis Lewis). And I've been so happy ever since. The staff is always nice and accommodating. Annie usually does my nails and she really does a great job. My acrylics stay on for over a month sometimes (they'd probably stay on longer if I let them), they've never broken and the polish still looks fantastic. The place is really nice inside and it's very clean. The prices are fair and the work is always beautiful. Happy I decided to come back! read more

Ladies working there were nice, it was a bit hectic, and also hot when I went last week on Tuesday. I got a standard gel mani and gel pedi, the colors came out very nicely. The lady I had, I believe her name is Jessica, was super sweet and did a pretty good job but she nipped the skin of my pinky nail and it started bleeding. Which is OK I guess. Secondly, after a week into the treatment the skin around my nails are frayed (I'm not sure if that's normal but it's quite worrisome). Nonetheless she did help me get my money out of my wallet and also helped me buckle my sandals as to not ruin her work. It's a bit pricey here, I paid a total of $72 for the gel mani and gel pedi. $12 for tip! Breaking down the pedicure, I wish she scrubbed my foot a bit more? I know it's asking a lot, to do that on someone's feet's but you are paying for it right- and that should come with the treatment. The pedicure consisted of a very brief lavender powder foot soak, a sugar scrub, and lotion which is total lasted 5 minutes. From there they do your toe nails. It also seemed like the place wasn't as organized and there were many ladies waiting for a esthetician to free up (some were in the middle of their treatment) read more

I had an appointment at 2PM for today called at 130 and let them know I would be late due to traffic. I live in NJ so the traffic was ridiculous and I felt really bad but I apologized for being late and they were very accommodating. I'm giving them an extra star because of their customer service. They're very nice here and this review has nothing to do with their manners. I think they are quite nice. This review is due to the sloppiness of work. I paid $70 for a french dip powder which I already thought was expensive but I believed they would give me top quality. I had Susan and she had very good reviews on yelp but idk what happened today. Maybe she was tired but my nails look lumpy, thick, sloppy, and uneven. When she finished the dip, my french lines looked like sprinkled dust so she put regular gel on top so the French line was clean and straight.. but adding the French only made my nails more bulky and lopsided. The pictures are self explanatory. This was just plain sloppy work. She did not cut my cuticles at all and for $70, there wasn't some basic manicure stuff included like a tiny massage with lotion. I'm just kind of.. idk lost lol.. Unhappy. It was just very disappointing and I didn't feel like being there any longer.. I paid $125 total for both dip nails with Susan and gel pedicure with Sophia. I still gave each technician 20% tip but it just wasn't worth my time or money. This wasn't the quality of work I expected and I'm just really let down I'm also not sure how sanitary it is there. Best nails and service!! I was looking for a new nail spot close to home. Johnny's had amazing reviews and they did not disappoint. I made an appointment and when I walked in I was taken care of immediately, no wait. Pedicure was quick and though there is no massage chair, it was extremely comfortable. They use the bag to cover the foot bath which I appreciate. I got acrylic tips with gel polish. I showed them a picture of what design I would like and they switched me to Susan who would be able to accomplish it. She did an outstanding job!!! I would say she is an artist and will be back for some more of her intricate art work. Plus: as a new customer they give you a pumice and foot scrub to take home. read more

Came here for mother's day with my bf and his mom. The place was crazy busy!! I was a little worried they wouldn't be able to accomodate our appointments but we did get taken after a few minutes. No problems whatsoever with their regular mani pedis. I got a gel mani pedi with some nail art. I was bummed because I had been growing out my nails for some nice nail art, but broke one of my nails literally two days before my appointment. Still, I went with short nails to see what they could do with a simpler inspo pic. Overall - good. They were nice and I like the salon itself. I do think I could've been more proactive in saying I wanted a different overall color for my mani than my pedi (I thought just showing my inspo pic would indicate that the base color of my manicure should've been different, but that's kinda my fault!) I asked for a simple design so they switched me to someone who could do it - it came out pretty good, and I'm happy they made it work with my shorter nails. I'm not very picky as long as it resembles the inspo. The bad: I feel like my manicure overall was lacking? My tech didn't really cut my cuticles, hands were dry, etc. They did all the things I expected for a pedi so it was weird that my mani was so lacking. I think it was just due to being so busy. The other con is that my thumbnails are kinda messily done, one just looks a little off and the other is a little streaky. I will say though I LOVE how my pedicure came out. Perfect nail shape and coloring and I noticed the tech put a lot of care into it. Overall I will come back when my nails are long for a more complex nail design to see what they do with it. read more

8-30-2020 I really wanted to like this place, I mean I did a week ago. I originally went to this salon one week ago & got a fill in by Annie. The whole time, staff is conversing about how the last nail tech (different salon) did the application of acrylic & it's thin. Okay, so I'm thinking stop complaining & put on more acrylic how your salon does it. Moving along, Carina (owner?) does my little flower design, bill is $70 for a fill-in with a basic design. I tipped Annie $8 & Carina $5. 9-6-2020 Called the salon, because the night before, two acrylic tips snap off. I go in at 3PM, Annie fixes both nails as she talks about it in her language. She tells me it's because the acrylic was thin, okay like I said before, so put more? That's the point of a fill in, you fill in ACRYLIC. I inquired about policy if it happens to other nails, she's giggling & saying come back in & they'll fix it but starts chatting about how the nail was thin. I'm not even laughing, your customer service skills suck. today? my thumb nail tip broke off & not even worth calling back. I'll just take my money else where. My last technician did acrylic differently, but my nails never broke & a fill in never costed me $70 that wasn't worth it. You can delete my customer card because I'll never be back. DESPITE the owner's comment, I went into the salon ASKING both last week & yesterday for their suggestion. I obviously didn't have an issue spending money so once again, stop lying because I was never TOLD i needed a new set I was suggested to get one upon my return. Which would've been two weeks from LAST Sunday. However, my response still stands due to the fact that customer service would've explained that I needed a new set & that's what I would've gotten. read more

This place is amazing, very professional very clean and super friendly, it was really relaxing with nice music playing in the background... everyone had masks on and they had me wash my hands when I first came in even though I was only having a pedicure. I felt very safe and comfortable .... I had my pedicure with Jessica she is my favorite she pays attention to details and is very gentle and so nice. She gave me a book to pick a nail color from and used a small one use package of scrub for my feet and a scrubber for me that also came out of a new package each pedicure bin is lined with a new plastic liner before every client and the chairs are super comfortable!! They also offer eyelash extensions... oh and I almost forgot they have a parking lot!!! Yay free parking in queens that's a huge plus lol don't pass up this gem of a place !! read more

I got to Johnny's nails without appointment and I waited a slightly long amount of time, but I felt safe, Covid measures were taken, you have to wash your hands immediately after arriving. They use masks and try to keep social distancing, because sometimes you just can't, people need to circulate through the business to get to one service to another. I had a gel manicure, it was really nice, Ping was really good at doing my nails, she was quick and efficient. Grace did my pedi, she was really nice and the little massage was really nice and much needed I also got my eyebrows tinted and waxed, they looked very nice! I really liked all my services. The atmosphere here feels almost like they are all family and know each other, it was friendly, warm, the music was perfect, relaxing and welcoming! 8 hours agoNEW Ill start this off by saying that the very 1st time i went here i absolutely loved my nails, the pedicure only lasted about 3 days but essentially i decided i would get my nails done here and my pedicure elsewhere. 12 days ago i returned for a 2nd visit and again was in love with the finished product (which i paid $80 and tipped the guy who did them $10), 3 days ago a nail pops off, not doing anything crazy i was simply scratching my head, so i was bummed but i just told myself okay ill just get it fixed, 2 days ago 2 more nails pop off, again im not doing any major activity, i was washing dishes, so now I'm aggravated and a bit annoyed, last night i see 2 more are lifting at the base and ive totally had it at this point and decide to go address them directly, i spoke to the desk person who informed me that she'd talk to her boss since she wasnt there in person, but initially i was told it would be fixed without charge, i say okay and step back out to let my ride know they could leave since I'd be there for a while, when i come back in the desk lady informs me she spoke to her boss and said since it was almost time for a fill in what they could do was give me a new set for the fill in price which was $40 (new set is $50), i told her maam, this started 3 days ago, i also offered to show pictures that are dated to prove that which she declined to see, so at that point i just left so basically i paid almost $100 for a 9 day set. Love this place. Jessica is my nail tech. I have gone to other techs for pedicures and they were all good but I try to stick with Jessica for manicures. I usually always get the dip powder. I love it it's not as harsh on the nail and much thinner than acrylic. The prices have gone up a few times since I started going there but hopefully won't go up anymore. The owner is hilarious. I made an appointment for gel manicure for Susan. When she was done filing my nails she said I had to get gel refill but I only wanted gel polish. That she does not do gel manicure when it is busy. Which does not make sense. Then the manager also insisted that I have to get a gel refill which cost way more. I am very disappointed After paying $75 my nails came out super thick and made my hands look so fat. They kept saying that it will look better because of the gel. read more

I stumbled upon this nail salon on a Sunday since my regular nail salon was closed. I was pleasantly surprised upon walking in and happy to have stumbled upon it. I requested to soak off my sns powder nails and get a regular manicure. I was able to be serviced by Grace right away. She was efficient and quick. When it was time to pay i was charged $35 for a soak off and regular polish manicure to which I added $10 as a tip for a total of $49 with CC tax. The next day I woke up to a chipped nail. And by Wednesday I had to remove all the nail polish since multiple nails were now chipped within the last 3 days. I told myself fine since it was regular polish but to my surprise I realized there was still sns powder left on them which now I have to figure out how to take off without spending more money on a simple soak off. I really really wanted to become a regular here once I learned about their VIP special but being a new customer and having this experience really changed my mind I hope this was a one off experience and others have a better experience at Johnny's!! read more

Second time here. First time I came with my husband and we both got manicures and pedicures. Both times I came in as a walk in client. They are pretty accommodating as long as it isn't crazy busy. I would just call beforehand to make sure it's okay to walk in. Today I had a spa pedicure with Amy. She was really tentative and communicated with me the whole time. She was so kind to ask how I was feeling throughout the whole pedicure. She asked if she was being rough and if she wanted me to be more gentle and vice versa. I went with the Spa Pedicure that include callus removal, paraffin and 15 minute leg massage. She gave the best massage I had in a while so I walked out so relaxed. My sister and i have been going to this salon for quite some time, on and off.. I agree with everything the bad reviews say but i keep coming back because i know this salon has about 3 nail techs who are really good but somehow i always end up with a bad tech so of course we make appointments and ofc i still end up with a crappy tech who while she is very nice can't do nails to save her life. My last experience here was so frustrating i literally walked off. I walked in wanting long French ombré nails and left with crappy differently shaped, short unfinished nails which i now have to go get fixed elsewhere. You shouldn't put a tech who needs clarification on the fact that French ombré involves acrylic to do a French ombré. I'm just saying.. You've lost two customers for good. read more
