Love the food, hate the plastic. When eating in Rubio's used to have real silverware, plates and bowls. Now it's just plastic regardless of if you're eating in or taking it out. This is a real disappointment. Regardless this is one of the few remaining Rubio's still around. I wish the management would consider the environment with their offerings. Service was great and the store is very comfortable to eat in!

Smells sour dishcloths inside. Takes forever to get food. Order is wrong, portions are small. Staff is friendly and salsa bar is the best. That's is it! Doubt this place will last much longer.

The Hotel del Coronado is a fabulous venue for seaside, ice skating over the holidays and enjoying the scenic Christmas with shopping!

Here's to holiday greetings from the staff at Rubio's in Encinitas, CA, and my server, Cambria.

I've never been more disgusted by a meal. I was enjoying my burrito when I bit into something hard--only to discover it was a rock. It completely ruined the experience, and I couldn't continue eating. I get that mistakes happen, but this is beyond unacceptable. A rock/ pebble in my food is a serious health hazard.

We come here from time to time as my husband loves their fish tacos. Last time we ordered... Fish taco combo plate with rice and beans Shrimp bowl over rice and lettuce Everything was fresh and delicious. They're a little stingy about salsas but when you ask for more, they will give it.

My husband made an online order. When I walked into the store I was greeted very kindly by a woman who asked if I was picking up. When I said yes and gave my name another woman that was with her (Cindy) blurted out that she would let me know when the order was ready. I sat and waited even though my order was already supposed to be ready according to my online receipt. There were 2 bags sitting under the "order online pick up here" section with ready to go food. Now having waited 20 minutes she says my order name out loud and grabs the 2 bags that had been sitting there. I responded with "so my food has been sitting there the whole time?" She quickly said, "yes sorry about that ma'am " with no remorse. When I confronted her about it she said "it was only there for a few minutes, with attitude and a demeaning smirk, and that there was a lot going on. I was offered something for next purchase but at this point I was in disbelief that she seemed to have an attitude with me. And to top off my interaction with her my steak nachos had zero to little steak. Not sure how this locations runs with someone so rude and incapable of just acknowledging you let my order sit there the entire time I was waiting.

There was a long line - this place is so popular - but thankfully the line didn't take very long. The wait in the line was a good amount of time to give me the chance to take a look at the menu before ordering so I didn't mind it at all! It was easy to order at the restaurant. Grab our order number and find a seat and just wait for the food to come out. I was worried the food would take a while because so many people were there. The food came quickly, so there was no issue. I got a bivuoac berry cider which was delicious and very drinkable. I opted for some clam chowder, rocket salad, and the seafood curry as well. The clam chowder was delicious and creamy. Not TOO rich and not too salty. The rocket salad was pretty standard. I don't order any fish with it since I was ordering so many items already and I didn't want to be too full! Just wanted to add some veggies to my meal. The seafood curry had some great flavor. I was a bit surprised that the curry was more of a soup consistency. I was expecting a thicker and more saucy consistency but it was still good. I think it could've been a bit more flavorful. I liked the fish, shrimp, and veggies in the curry and I loved that they cooked the fish perfectly. It was nice and soft and had a delicious char on it. Overall, great meal and I thought the meal was decent value. Expected to come back and try more menu items.

It's light and perfectly cooked, and the fries were a really nice contrast without feeling too heavy. The IPA was also excellent and paired well with the food. Fresh, flavorful, and satisfying without feeling overly indulgent. Casual, consistently good, and clearly a local favorite for a reason. We'll absolutely be back next time we're in the area.

My favorite stop on my recent trip to the San Diego area…read more Encinitas Fish Shop was recommended by one of my local SD work colleagues. I grabbed an Uber after work on a Thursday and headed north 11 miles. As I arrived at the Fish Shop, I could smell the goodness inside and saw the line waiting to order. The restaurant is on one side, with an open bar on the other. Ordering is as simple as 1, 2, 3. Pick your fish, pick how you want to consume it (plate, sandwich, salad), and pick your sides and drink. I went with my work colleagues recommendation of a blackened sea bass sandwich with onion rings and a Marg. That choice was FANTASTIC!!! You seat yourself once you order and place the buzzer given to you by the counter person on the unit on your table. Although busy, there were still tables available (bar and restaurant, plus out front). As the NBA playoffs were on, I sat inside. Everyone working here was friendly and as I already stated... my meal was the best I had on this San Diego visit. A bonus was a gorgeous sunset just 3 blocks down from the shop. I moved to North County and a few years later they opened Encinitas fish shop. I have been for the oysters in the past but it had been a long time. I looked it up to make sure they still had oyster night and sure enough they do. The price is now $1.25 but that still feels like a good deal. They had 4 different types to choose from. There was only about 7 people in front of me when I got in line including a family. There was an older couple ordering and it took about 20 minutes for them to complete their transaction. The rest of the line moved ok after they were done, but I probably waited about 40 minutes just to order. I ordered 3 of each kind, a dozen. Then I went to get water. They were out of ice. I sat in the window seating and waited. It took a bit, but it was a nice day so I didn't mind too much. A girl came out calling names but it was very difficult to hear her. I finally heard my name and she dropped off my oysters. I asked for more cocktail sauce and she left to get it. She brought it back but immediately left and never told me which oysters were which. I had to flag down another employee and he told me which oysters were which. In the past, I haven't liked some of the choices, but this time they had a whole different selection and I liked all of them! They were so good and fresh. I don't know why I waited so long to return. I'll definitely be back for more soon!

Unfortunately there is no seating or anywhereto really go (except to stand outside) if your table isn't ready and the bar is full. When our table was ready, we were seated outside facing the water, and it was beautiful, and so peaceful. This is what made the restaurant experience for me. I'd go back just for the view. We ordered the sushi to start, and since i love coconut shrimp, I went for the sunshine roll. It was very good and not too sweet, even though it had mango, macadamia and sweet chilli. This was my favorite part of the meal, although the price was steep at $27 for the one roll! We also ordered a half order of the sourdough bread, but the gave us a whole one since they were busy and we had to wait a bit. The bread was very good and chewy, but the outside edges were a bit tougher. I had leftovers and it toasted very well the next day. Fur my entree I decided on the plum ginger braised shortrib. It was very tender and had a nice mild flavor. Not the best I've had but still good. It came with shredded Brussels which were fine. The potatoes kind of the me for a loop and the were supposed to be augratin with jalapeno and cheddar, but i didn't taste any of that. I probably wouldn't order this again. As noted by its name, this place served a fusion of Chinese and Korean cuisines. Their Encinitas location took over what used to be a roadside diner along N Coast Hwy 101. The seating capacity was less than 40 people which included a few high-top counter spots. At my last visit, I came for a late dinner before their closing time. A large menu was posted on the wall behind the service counter that listed about two dozen food offerings. The items seemed to be comfort food like pot stickers, spring rolls, fried rice, and chicken wings but flavored with unique combinations of seasonings and spices. I started my meal with the Marinated Beef Tri-Tip Skewers which came as a set of three and a Chinese mustard for dipping. The meat was very tender and well-seasoned. I also ordered the Cumin Lamb Stir Fry which the cashier said was medium spicy. After tasting a couple of bites of the noodles from the serving bowl, I agreed that the heat level was moderate, even for my palate. I thought the portion size should have been more for the price. That was my main criticism for both items, otherwise the food was solid for an Asian fusion eatery.
