Been ordering Ruben's for a few months now that I live pretty close to the location and they have really opened things up for me a little bit. I usually get taco and burrito cravings at all hours of the day/night and my first thought each time if I want something close is Ruben's. I love the way their meals come prepped, and the different options and tweaks you can make to your burritos and tacos. I also love the fact that the ingredients are pretty fresh and seem like something you'd get at a more mid-range restaurant as opposed to something that is fast food. Was out in fed for the night for a friend's birthday, around midnight he said we should try Rubens and that it won't disappoint. We all split a burrito and I was hooked. 2am rolled around and I had to have another, this time we all got our own. Woke up on Saturday, got a ride back to my car outside the city and decided I had to have more and I drove back into the city (granted only 15 minutes) and bought 2 more chicken burritos for lunch and dinner. Just got a savory crepe from their stand at the UMMC Farmer's Market and it was pretty tasty. The ingredients were fresh (mushrooms, spinach, red peppers, cheese) and the batter for the crepe is great - light and just a little sweet. No complaints about the food, but I'm taking off a few stars for, for lack of a better word, poor community values. There was an event today outside the hospital where professionals from the different schools of UMB were taking elementary school kids out to the Farmer's Market to help them understand how to make smart choices about food. They had "play money" that would be reimbursed later. Long story short, one of the organizers of the event had just come to the stand to ask if they would accept the play money, and the workers said yes. Just a few minutes later, a kid comes by asking for $3 lemonade with the play money and was just flat-out rejected and dismissed. Like...really? Shame on you for being just a terrible human being! So yeah, you might have good crepes, but, as a Baltimorean, I was just appalled by what I saw. I'm sure these two workers might not reflect the entire company, but if I'm ever in Fed Hill, I will think twice before spending my real money here. read more

The meat is uber flavorful and the rest of the filling complements it like a sexy puzzle piece. They also panini press it which gives the tortilla a sensually firm bite. I hope you can tell how wet my.... mouth is right now. The reason for the missing star is that the sweet crepe I got (Strawberry Nutella, I think) was a little too light for me. It could use another slabbering of Nutella and a few more strawberries because there were a few nooks that were plain. This hole in the wall is a gem. Ordered takeout for dinner last night and got a Chorizo Burrito. I've also had the breakfast crepe with eggs and chorizo. The portions are generous and the flavor is wonderful. What really steals the show is the sauce. Their hot sauce is fantastic, as is the salsa verde. Even better when you mix the two. Perfect place for a quick bite to eat sober or drunk! I got the chicken taco and it was fabulous! The chicken was so moist and flavorful. It came with two sauces and sour cream but I only liked the sour cream. You definitely need at least two tacos to fill you up as they are on corn tortillas. Ruben's is back after a several year long hiatus. I can't tell you what the food was like before, but I can certainly tell you that it's delicious now! I had a carnitas burrito, which was fantastic. The meat was tender and flavorful. The tortilla was soft on the inside and crispy on the outside where it had been grilled. The real star of the show is their spicy red salsa. It's one of the best salsas I've ever had. I'm hoping they'll tell me what's in it when I go back (or maybe sell me a bottle of it). Bottom line: great Mexican food. I really liked this place. They had great food, good prices and open late. I would come here for taco tuesdays and one or two more days each week for the chorizo tacos. Recently they changed the hours and are only open like half the time they were before and they got rid of the tuesday special. I understand inflation and prices are going up and the food is good enough to pay a little more. Except they no longer serve chorizo which was the best items that they have. The chorizo and sauces were the reason to come here. The steak and chicken both are very dry and lack flavor. I give them 3 stars because it was a 5 star place and now they turned it into a 0. Everything good about this place they took away except the sauces, but even those good sauces can't make the dry bland proteins taste good. I go to the FED HILL location often b/c I live across the street and idk what happens early in the day but the girl who took my order put the wrong protein inside of my super simple burrito and all of a sudden the churro has some mystery filling inside. I called to inquire and she hung up b/c she seen my number call again. So I called once more and she proceeded to lie and tell me the churros has been like that for a minute. I disputed that claim as I order from there at least once a week and it's always been a standard plain churro. Therefore, I wasted my money on two items; not to mention my burrito was falling apart when I picked it up. It's a bit of a walk from the Inner Harbor - maybe 2/3 of a mile - but it was worth it. I ended up with a massive (one-pound, they claim) and very tasty burrito after just a short wait. The hot sauce - offered on the side - was a bit much for me, but is probably welcome who like their Mexican food with a kick to it. If you want a quick bite to eat in the area, this is a great place to get one. Biggest downside is that it's just a little hole-in-the-wall pickup place. We ordered delivery at work through Uber eats. Food came extremely fast. I had steak tacos that were delicious. The red sauce was hot but I like hot. The verde sauce looked more like green water. I also ordered guacamole and chips. The guacamole was very fresh and good. The chips tasted like they came straight from a bag. Crunchy but not light and crispy which I expect at a Mexican restaurant. I also wanted some salsa but couldn't order it because it wasn't on menu to order although it was on several items on menu. Ruben's food is always delicious, always come out quickly, and you always get service with a smile. It can get pretty crowded quickly, bc it's a very small shop. Even though it takes a very little time for food to be ready, I like to order on grubhub first, so I can walk in and walk out. The other day, I ordered and grubhub told me 15 mins - they had my order ready in 10. :) I'm also a condiment-aholic, and I love the salsa and spicy sauce, and appreciate that there is sour cream on the side for good measure too.
