This is our local go-to restraint for good food, cold beer and great service. You are treated like family when you come here to eat. They recently did some remodeling and we love how the front window has a table there now. The food...oh my, the food. Absolutely every time the best quality and freshness. Went here to get a taco meal. 3 tacos "meal" $13.99 & comes out to $16.42 with tax. Tacos are dry and small with NO toppings for $16. I asked before purchasing is it a meal does it come with sides she said yes only to find out it came with a scoop of lettuce and two tomatoes side salad with taco dinner...? Left a review on google owner responds the prices are on the menu check it first. So I now will make sure all my friends leave there review as well since my opinion on my purchase was not valid. I came here again 2 years after my first impression, which was fire pupusas and mid Honduran food. I intentionally did not order pollo con tajadas this time, and instead found the baleadas con carne to have everything I needed it to have. The pupusas were amazing, of course, as they were almost 2 years ago. This place is still a great hidden gem, with bachata playing low in the background and workers favoring spanish (though they are bilingual), but definitely adds to the ambience if you can appreciate the spanish language. read more

Restaurant was recommended by my son, a Baltimore resident, for us to take his son whom we were babysitting. Music from upstairs was a bit loud, but it was entertaining. Son recommended the Yucca y Chicharrones appetizer which was best eaten hot. We had the Pollo Guisano and the Pollo a la Plata, both very good! When I went here, my small party of three ordered a lot to get a taste of the menu: yuca frita con chicharrón, pupusas, baleadas, tamales de elote, horchata, and some jugos. The service was good, the restaurant was clean, but the food tasted like the oil could have been fresher, and there seemed to be a lot more excess oil than I'm used to. This was especially evident in the yuca frita. Sad to have to lower my 5 star review! We always got excellent food from Mi Comalito, but after having to deal with their customer service, I can't give them 5 stars in good conscience. There was an issue that caused a delivery order we placed to cancel, so we re-ordered. Not long after, the second order was also cancelled, this time by the restaurant. We called in to see what was up & if there was any way we could get the order/place another. They told us that they weren't going to take any more orders for the day. This was at 6:30 on a day their hours on the delivery app & Google were posted for 9 pm or later. It's a pretty dishonorable practice to lie about hours & offer no sympathy to regular customers, so we'll be taking our business elsewhere. read more

I have been here twice now, and though it was a long wait for our food the first time, this time was a different story. It's a busy little spot with staff weaving through the tight spaces, but that actually makes for an energetic atmosphere. We went primarily for the pupusas, which are hot and tasty. My husband and I visited Mi Comalito for lunch recently and had a great meal! We shared the baleadas de pollo and the Plato Tipico Salvadoreno. I had never had baleadas before, but I would describe them as kind of a large Honduran take on a taco? It was simple and delicious and HUGE. And the plato I got was great even though I think it was missing a few things (the corn tamal and the avocado). The steak, pupusa, fried plantains, beans, etc. were all great. (Seriously that pupusa - I want it again now just thinking of it!) Mi Comalito serves Mexican, Salvadoran, and Honduran cuisines, so it has something for everyone! I am definitely more familiar with Mexican and Salvadoran food so I was excited to try baleadas. The service was great. I'd happily return to try more of their dishes! The staff was very nice but I can't recommend the food. I ordered shrimp enchiladas after asking what Type of salsa they were served with (verde). When the enchiladas came they were completely dry with melted shredded cheese and top and also were stuffed with shrimp and rice. I asked for green salsa and was charged $2 for it. All of the prices on the bill were also higher than what was posted on the menu. read more

This is sad for me to write. After frequenting Mi Comalito since they opened, I don't know if I can go back. Their prices have risen dramatically, and currently, their own website doesn't reflect the changes. The menu on Yelp does but unfortunately I looked at Mi Comalito's website when placing my order this evening. I was charged $13.99 for a baleada with no meat. Their website still has it listed as being $9.99 (which is reasonable-you can get a simple baleada from $7 to $9 in the Baltimore area). Totally not worth it for me anymore especially as they skimped on the fillings. Their pupusas have gone up to $3.95 a piece. Looks like I'll be heading to Highlandtown for my Salvadoran food cravings in the future where you can get a baleada for nearly half the price of Mi Comalito and pupusas in the $2.25 range. read more

I have never been so angry after waiting 30mins for $30 worth of food which was enchiladas and an order of Carnitas tacos. The woman kept checking in saying it was almost done yet another 10mins went by and then another. Then to my surprise she didn't put the extra salsa I asked for and turns around to ask me for $2. No Sir! No mam! After 30 mins of waiting I think you can give me a salsa or consider taking it from your tip (I always tip even if it's subpar service) if it's that serious. She got the manager and he gave one small 1oz watery tomato sauce. That can hardly qualify as salsa! There is nothing fresh about their salsa. Literally taste like spaghetti-o's. On top of all this, that $3 side of beans was so thin as if they are trying to use one cup of beans for the whole day. Stop it! Y'all playing yourselves. Have some integrity! Commit to making excellent food everyday, pandemic or not! Now the Carnitas ... What is happening here?!? I've never seen Carnitas like that, and it's supposed to be fried. I understand it's Salvadorian food and not mexican, as a Mexican I know the difference, but this is Not It! Quality ingredients, homemade salsas, assess your prices per quantity/quality and gain customer retention. What you're doing is not going to keep people coming back. So please! Stop charging $2 for that small ass cup of tomato water and stop charging $3 for 3oz of watery beans in cardboard containers. That's a start. The bright side is your tortillas a mano are pretty good so shout out to the woman behind the recipe! Also, my lady said the chicken enchiladas were 4/5 so there's that. Otherwise... I stopped in between bands during a concert at the Metro Gallery, and I was quite impressed. This is a small restaurant but the kitchen can cook fantastic food. On the recommendation of other Yelp reviewers, I ordered the plato tipico Salvadoreño with a pupusa revuelta. This is a perfect meal. The steak was nicely seasoned and wonderfully chewy. The tamale was well fried, crispy on the outside but succulent within. The pupusa was a lovely disk that spoke volumes with each bite. In addition to these delicacies, this combination plate also features a small salad, rice, avocado, cheese and tortillas. Washing it all down with a bottle of Gallo cerveza made the meal complete. The staff is lovely and the menu deserves repeat visits. This is a good restaurant. read more

While waiting to order my lunch I caught myself drooling over all of the dishes they bought out. On this particular occassion I had the Tacos de Carnitas. For 9.50, you received 3 nicely packed juicy tacos. Along with, you get a small side salad. The meat was savory and deelish. I've seen a lot of reviews from people who came here and were disappointed by the Mexican food on the menu, and I just want to say: you're doing it wrong! You don't come here for Mexican food, you come here for the dope-ass pupusas and Salvadoran/Central American food! When you have the pupusas fresh off the comal, it's a wonderful experience. Honestly, that's the only thing I get here because I see no reason to mess with a good thing. The baleadas (Honduran-style quesadillas with beans, eggs, and sometimes meat) are also very savory and filling. Their yuca and chicharrón is also very good. I can't give a full 5-star review because I haven't tried too many other things, but you will not be disappointed by the pupusas. read more

Oh, man... I was really craving a tamal and I remember having a good one here so I ordered during coronavirus lockdown. Unfortunately this place isn't consistent at all, and the tamal I got (if you could call it that) was deep fried -- I've never seen this before -- and extremely heavy & greasy. I couldn't take more than a few bites. Also ordered pastelito con carne as a backup and received pollo instead. Plato mixto was pretty good in terms of flavor but the meat and shrimp were all extremely overcooked and tough. Rice and beans, as others have noted, are definitely instant and lack flavor. To me the best part of latin american cuisine comes from the quality of the ingredients and the cleanness of the food but the food quality on this order was more reminiscent of an American fast food experience. I was pretty disappointed but I've had food I loved here before so maybe the quality has just gone down during lockdown? I'll probably come back to give them another shot. read more

Such authentic pupusas you'd swear you're in El Salvador. These pupusas are also very comfortably priced. You have to come in and at least try one of each. I appreciated their COVID service methods. You get your food handed to you through the locked door's pick up window. The employees are all in PPE and conscientious of social distancing. read more

I used to live down the block from Mi Comalito so they were a convenient place for dinner. Unfortunately they raised the prices and I stopped going because the quality of food hasn't been great either. The papusas are fine, but the shrimp burritos and enchiladas were greasy and relied heavily on salt. I may give it another chance again if I'm really hungry. read more

Mi Comalito is a local hole in the wall place that I've come back to again and again because of one thing. Their pupusas. You can't come here and not get them because they're so dang cheap, tasty, and filling. That's not to say their other stuff is bad though. Their tamales are also big for their price and their tacos are quite tasty, although their tortillas may be a bit thicker than most people are used to. On this visit I got their steak burrito, which was a little pricey at $12. This was partly negated by the huge portion size, as the burrito was filled steak, beans, rice, cheese and smothered with sour cream salsa and lettuce. This monstrosity was served with even more rice and beans on the side. So if you're looking for somewhere to eat and in the mood for some authentic, homemade style food then definitely check this place out. read more

Everything arrived well packaged and presented but I knew things were amiss the minute I took a bite of a chorizo taco and it had the taste and consistency of a well seasoned frank. All of the food (from the tamales to the pupusas) approached pretty bad but isn't the the worst I've ever had or paid. It was totally inedible. However, I was very disappointed with the quality of the food and the portions for the price I paid. The Lengua tacos were tasteless.
