TLDR: delicious casual Salvadoran food! This spot deserves more love in Baltimore. FOOD I've never had any major complaints about the food. Honestly, not sure about the authenticity but to me, it tastes pretty legit. My go tos: -Yucca con chicharron: honestly, sometimes the chicharron is slightly dry but I still get it every single time. I just love it that much (plus, where else will you get it in Baltimore). This dish is definitely better fresh in store though as the yucca can get soggy when taken out. -Platos Tipicos: The steak is also sometimes slightly dry but I usually expect that from places. Overall, great way to sample the different foods and I usually leave with leftovers. The corn tamale is my absolute favorite as a fellow corn lover. PARKING: usually plenty of street parking. The outside might look a little rundown to some, but I've never had any problems. SERVICE: Everyone's always so nice! Most staff are definitely more comfortable in Spanish but you'll have no problems if you can't speak Spanish. They also basically let you sit anywhere. read more

So I dined and last week and again, I am happy. I did only order appetizers because that is what I love and I wasn't being very adventurous but they filled me up. Two horchatas later and the excitement from seeing others order the stuff lobster and disappointment I hadn't, left me extremely satisfied. The other ladies who joined me were happy with their meals as well and couldn't believe how such a small place on the outside had such amazing flavor and great food on the inside. The best Latino food in Baltimore City without a doubt. Very homey and comfortable atmosphere and services, awesome delicious food at large amount with good (almost on the cheap side) price. Salsa that came with the complimentary chip sets the right start to what's coming up. Chicken soup is hearty and has large amount of vegetables and meat (1 whole breast & 1 whole wing). Plate combo has greatness of everything: perfectly fried plantain and corn bread, soft chewy steamed tamale fully stuffed with bean and pork, super tasty aide rice and beans, warm and fluffy tortilla, and the most tasty beef. Rice pudding is just the right finish to all the great flavors. The Plato Tipico is my go-to comfort food when I don't feel well and don't feel like cooking. The rice, papusa, and sweet corn tamale are so delicious. The carne asada portion has varied every time I have gotten it and it also varies about 50/50 from being absolutely delicious and crispy to good and a little limp, but always good none the less. The refried beans are a little watery, but have a great taste and the plantains are generally good, but sometimes taste a little unripe. I've always wanted to try their enchiladas and chile rellenos, but it's always so hard when there is the Plato Tipico but since I live right around the corner, I will hopefully try it eventually. read more

Came here for real authentic food and that's what we got. We ordered a variety of the appetizers and some drinks and were happily content with our third lunch of the day. We got the pupusas both mixed and cheese. They came with a nice dipping sauce. We also got the pastelitos de carne, chicken tamales, yuca fries, and a couple of mojitos. My favorite we're definitely the pupusas and the yuca fries. The bits of crispy meat paired with the starchy yuca were so delicious! I do not know how this place got 4 stars. We went there around 6:30pm, and were seated in the back room area, where there was one other group of people. It was FRREZING COLD back there! The waiter came and took our order, and was nice. I got two corn tamales, and my lovely dining partner got a chicken burrito. I will let her review her experience with that. The food took a LONG time to come out to us, for the amount of people that were in the restaurant. My corn tamales were good. I only ate one, because there was nothing else on the plate to offset the soft texture of the tamales. They had a soccer game on the WHOLE time we ate, and I GET that soccer is a staple in Mexico, but when you have guests, at least turn the volume down enough so the guests who actually want to have a conversation....can. No one said hello to us (other than the waiter who sat us)., or goodbye to us when we left. As we left, we walked through the WARM part of the restaurant where there was soft ambiance lighting...and HEAT. There are WAY too many restaurants to choose from here in Bmore. Seriously....we will not be back there. We love to eat out, and try the diverse richness in culture that we love about Bmore. Sad to say, this place is not a great impression of our city. read more

Pleasant surprise. Being new in Charmcity, was to do yet another search for great restaurants. Authenticity is key..and one of my fave for breakfast is the Latin cochin of their huervo con chorizo. Well, found it. Yes, I know, can't get any easier with this dish, but trust me, I've had it bad. This clean and friendly place had a great atmosphere and the dish was great. Had a hangover, so I also ordered a small size of their sopa de rez. Highly recommended! I'm so glad sometimes that alot people don't appreciate authentic foods and keep places like this a hidden gem and uncrowded. :) The rest of you can enjoy your tex mex. read more

Stopped in for an early dinner with my family on a very warm Friday afternoon in February, and I'm very glad we did. My wife and I both enjoyed the margaritas and the service was very friendly and attentive, which I hoped would be the case as we were the only diners in the front/main room. We ordered ceviche to start, and thought the shrimp were delicious. The complimentary chips were good, but salsa a bit disappointing. We also ordered pupusas that were fine, and we were happy with the entrees - whole fish and a large, tasty burrito. We had plenty of food, so leftovers took care of the next day's lunch. It was nice to take two young kids somewhere and not have to worry about it being too formal, or the music too loud. I have been to several Salvadorian and Honduran restaurants across the east coast and I think this one takes the lowest rating. Way over priced. I will say the Baleadas were delicious and filling (I ordered two and had to save the other one). The Pupusas on the other hand were dry and it was more corn masa than filling, so the ratio there was off. The tomato sauce that comes with the pupusas was nasty tasting, super watery. My boyfriend and I come here for pupusas and they are so good! We haven't really tried much else on the menu- we were just thrilled to find a good pupusa place in the city. The restaurant is popular on weekends, but even then we have never had to wait for a table. It can get pretty loud at peak times, so if you want quiet then go at an off-peak time. I only gave this 4 stars because the booths are always dirty and that really bothers me. The restaurant isn't in the best area, but there is metered street parking and parking is free on sundays. You should definitely check it out if you're looking for some awesome pupusas! read more

Usually when I order food from this restaurant it is good. Don't know what has happened in the recent weeks. Management or staff must have changed. The platano maduro were somewhat hard and they forgot to give me the crema that comes with it, after I reminded the person on the phone about 5 times about it. When I got it, I didn't recognize what it was. The sauce wasn't lemony and it was chunky as it seemed like it was defrosted. Yuck. The pupusas were still great.
