We hired Salvador to build an Accessory Dwelling Unit and picked him because he was by far the cheapest quote we received. If we know now what we knew then, we would have paid more to have the job done correctly. We learned our lesson the hard way; you get what you pay for. You can expect Salvador to be MIA for the entire project. Salvador does not actually do any of the physical work. This would probably not be such a problem if he were a good communicator. Unfortunately he is horrible at getting back to text messages, does not answer your questions and we had to tell him what we wanted multiple times which was either forgotten or ignored. He just doesn't care if an issue arises. The only time we saw him was when he would come by to pick up payments. The work he completed was shoddy. Pipes were left exposed and dangerously protruding from the ground, wiring was mickey mouse and he clearly uses the cheapest materials available. We have already spent over a thousand dollars fixing his mistakes. I anticipate having to spend much more. Save yourself the frustration and headache and go with someone more professional, organized and knows what they are doing. You will save money in the long run. read more

I hired Sal to do a complete 1st floor remodel (kitchen, living room, family room, etc.), staircase flooring, and 2nd floor hallway flooring. Sal is great to work with and always tried to do the best for the customer. Took care of everything from A-Z. With construction there is always things that come up, so the issues we did have, Sal took care of it by being upfront about it and was fair with the price regarding any change orders. Overall, Sal is outstanding as the general contractor directing his workers what needs to be done (so I didn't expect Sal to be there 24/7). When needed, he showed up to the job site and got his hands dirty with doing the quartz countertop and backsplash. His workers are the reason for the 4/5 stars. Communication was a little difficult with the workers and required a little more hands-on direction (but remember, this is your home and if you want it to look like what you dreamed of then you need to put a little effort into it as well). So the attention to detail on our part was extremely helpful for the overall outcome because the workers knew how to do it, but they can't read your mind on exactly how YOU want it to be done. So over communicate is my suggestion, so that your project goes as smooth as possible. At the end of the day, RS Construction performed well, completed the job in a timely manner, fair in pricing, and now I have a beautiful home. If I need more work to be done or friends/family needs a referral, I wouldn't hesitate to let them know to go to Sal. Also, Sal took care of us even after the project was done with minor improvements due to some faucet issues. He didn't have to, but wanted us as the customer to be completely satisfied. Update: 2020: We had RS construction come back & remodel our girl's bathroom. We knew there was a great chance for them to find issues with the plumbing since it's a 1950s home. Sal & his crew were great at explaining all the issues they found & gave us options & estimates right away. Sal stopped by every morning to check the progress from the day before & make sure I knew everything that would be taking place that day. This all took place at the beginning of the COVID-19 shutdown & Sal & his crew cleaned up everyday & made sure not to touch anything they absolutely didn't need to touch for their safety & my family's safety. 2019:We used RS Construction to do a 300 sq ft master suite addition & convert an old bedroom into usable space (laundry room & an office). Sal's quote was very reasonable compared to all the other quotes we got & it included the fees for the architect & plans. His team worked hard & some days they even worked in the rain. If I had questions Sal would get back to me by the end of the day or if I asked his team questions they were always very polite & helpful. sal was great and able to tackle a bathroom/ laundry room reno that was on a tight schedule. he was a bit higher than some other estimates but given our timeline, it was worth. that project was ultimately completed on time and budget, which i appreciated, but Sal was largely mia throughout the process which left me managing it day-to-day. luckily i was on site anyhow working on other aspects of the project, but in hindsight i would have gladly paid a higher price to have someone else manage it. the final piece that left me with a bad impression was calling them back for about a days worth of work finishing our kitchen install. granted it wasn't a full reno job, but i specifically laid out my needs with Sal and he had two guys available to tackle it right away- he could have said no! i ended up being overcharged by hundreds of dollars for installing a p-trap that leaked, an "installed" dishwasher that wasn't attached to anything, and a garbage disposal that wasn't fully connected to the drain- all the while i was fielding questions and telling them what to do, and somehow it still wasn't finished properly. when i complained to sal, his response was that "I don't want a headache for something we don't [have] to do"! He refused to apologize or even acknowledge that it was a waste of time and money, instead behaving as though somehow i had forced them to come and work for me. it would be bad enough to treat any customer that way, but i was particularly frustrated after having spent a significant amount of money just a couple of weeks earlier. a couple of months LATER i used another contractor, my original backup for RS, and had a much better experience and spent less money. happy to recommend THEM any time! read more

Agree w the other reviewer that Sal was largely MIA and I had to manage things. I had to fire him from the job before it was done due shoddy, below professional level work. I regret paying him so much. For my bathroom remodel,the fixtures were not centered in the tub and I had to pay an extra 1000 for a plumber to come fix, including tile repairs in the new tile that had gone in already. The tile was not grouted properly and holes had to be filled in in multiple places. The walls were supposed to be coated over and not properly smoothed down. What a disaster. It was always easy to communicate with the owner, Salvador, by phone, text, or email, and he got the job done in a timely manner. By far the biggest mistake we have ever made. DONT HIRE SAL OR HIS COMPANY. IGNORE THE POSITIVE REVIEWS. Find yourself another contractor. I could give you an entire list of problems we encountered. However, I will just leave here a warning- DO NOT DO IT! I truly wish we could go back. After spending almost 90k on our project- we have had to hire several people to fix their shoddy work (costing us several thousands of repairs within 3 months of him finishing our project). RS Construction did a great job renovating our bathroom. They were thorough and did additional work as well that we requested (removed our popcorn ceiling and painted the walls). My wife and I were very pleased with the workers Sal hired as well. They completed the job slightly ahead of schedule and that included the extra work we added. I read some of the other reviews that mentioned Sal was not around very much. Sal was not around all the time but we did not expect him to be around as he was the primary contractor and he hired several men to do the work. The workers were great and very respectful. We agreed that I would buy the materials and he would provide all of the labor. Sal did end up doing some of the work himself and he was always very responsive to all of our needs.
