If I could recommend a bar not to go to at all costs it would be this one. I went recently for the first time with a group of friends to watch the patriots game. We were seated for about an hour, ordered drinks and food, then without warning everyone seated in the back room had to leave because the manager failed to notify the staff that a group party reserved the dining area for the game. On top of that, they overcharged us over $100 on our bill while reviewing my credit card statement and I had to file a claim against them. Get it together Roza Lyons, you will never last in South Boston with that kind of service. read more

Saw that a new place was opening in Southie and after looking at menu online thought it would be a really cute spot to try. Went in for lunch and was very disappointed. We started off with the watermelon margarita which was overly sweet and tasted like Kool Aid with a slash of tequila. We ordered the charcuterie board and it was basically an unpackaged Lunchable on a cutting board. We also ordered the lettuce wraps that were so soggy we couldn't even lift them off the plate but had to eat with a fork and knife. Not to mention the "chicken" on the lettuce wraps tasted like canned chicken mixed with a pre packaged Asian sauce. AND were topped with pre package Chinese noodles. Not sure how this place advertises as a "Farm to Table" when everything we had tasted pre packaged. I have been to LOTS of restaurants in Boston and this was BY FAR the worst meal I've ever had. I came for dinner last week and it's a nice cozy location in Southie. The service is great and I love the ambiance. I felt that our meals were good, but not amazing. We had the buffalo empanadas and they were honestly a bit dry. We also split one of the turkey sandwiches. It was good, no complaints. I will come back but will try different items on the menu. read more

The food here is mediocre at best. I was honestly embarrassed for them when they brought out the "charcuterie plate." As others have pointed out, it looks like everything on the plate was purchased next door at the Stop-N-Shop. They either don't know what a proper charcuterie plate is, don't think their customers know what a proper charcuterie plate is, and/or don't care enough to put one together for their customers. The pretzel was bland and completely forgettable. I also had their pork tacos which were inconsistent. 2 out of the 3 tacos had the tortillas grilled slightly to add some crispy texture (which I enjoyed) but was disappointed to find the last tortilla had not been grilled which made for a soggy mess of a taco. My dining companions were far from impressed with their meals. It seems like they put some good thought into the menu but the execution was fairly poor. This place isn't worth going out of your way for if you're looking for good food. However, if you live in the area and are looking to grab a beer after work in a relaxed environment, it may be a good option then. read more

I worked in the service industry for years, so I know the difference between good and bad service/management. What's very important to me as a paying customer is how well run an establishment is, in addition to good communication between the staff. So unfortunately, my review is a negative one. I've been to Roza Lyons multiple times before and enjoy the food. However, the last time I was there a large row broke out between some customers who were obviously very intoxicated; punches were thrown. The customers were not asked to leave as one of that bar staff knew them and so I and my friend felt very uncomfortable. We therefore left - the food was still nice but we didnt feel comfortable. This was at about 4pm on a Tuesday. About a week ago from today, I rang Roza Lyons and asked could I reserve a table for 2 for today the 17th March to watch the rugby match- not many places show it so that is why I rang in advance. I was told a party of 20 were coming in at 1 but I could have a table for 2 at 12. I said great, gave her my details. This morning we drove down to South Boston and arrived in to be told that there is no table for us. She also said the party of 20 were coming in before 1. So I was misinformed and originally told I could have a table only to arrive and be told we can't sit down anywhere for food as tables not booked for the party of 20 were taken. The waitress gave me a blank look saying there was nothing she could do. My husband and I stood there waiting for something further from her because it's unacceptable for returning customers to book a table, travel down and be told there is no table. She said after walking by us twice she could go get the manager that he was just in the bar. Yet she came back then telling me he left!! I don't know whether to believe her or think he just didn't want to deal with the issue at hand. Our whole morning and early afternoon was derailed. No where else to eat nearby that was open, and we haven't gotten to watch the rugby match we initially wanted to. Now while this is not a life or death matter, it's a disgraceful way to run a business . Allowing bar fights and taking reservations while not actually following through with them is not really acceptable . It wouldn't be so bad if we lived nearby but we don't, we knew we had the table booked and got up early to go down and eat brunch and enjoy the match. Somehow, I don't think management will even care that they've lost paying customers. We had friends over from Ireland at Christmas, brought them to this pub for an evening. Safe to say we won't ever be bringing more custom their way. read more

Went for dinner last night. They made a small place very cute with some unique decor. The menu is all over the place which I guess is good, something for everyone. We started with the charcuterie and it looked like they picked up the presliced cheese platter from stop n shop. They should either remove this from the menu or put some actual thought into making a nice board. We also got the tuna tartare. Tuna quality was good, lacked flavor. We shared the smoked salmon salad which was a nice combination of things and they graciously split it for us. The food was fine but the price is good so can't complain too much. I would again if I was looking for a quick night out that won't break the bank. read more

I have been going to Roza Lyons for about a year now, and over the past year it has gone downhill. My husband and I loved it at first. It's quiet, you can have a conversation without screaming, the drinks and the food were both fabulous. The past four times we have gone it has been awful. Twice we were rushed through tour meal, and then asked to leave the dining area, because they were having a party. I feel this should have been communicated before we sat to have dinner. The wait service has been really bad. We were once still sitting waiting for someone to take our order 30 minutes into sitting down. The waitress was standing around talking rather than working. Finally, the food has been extremely salty, and not very fresh. We were there last night, and the pork poutine was horrible. It was smothered in gravy( poutine does not get smothered) and the pork was extremely dry. I had the steak and cheese panini wrap which was so salty I couldn't finish it, and the tater tots were only partially cooked. Our waiter was nice though, and was on point. We really want to keep going to RL, but they need to up their game to what it once was. read more

Absolutely amazing food! I was with two friends and we all ordered something and each was absolutely amazing. We all agreed we would be back very soon. I had the tuna tarrtare which had avocado, crunchy noodles and also comes with toasted bread. The other plates ordered were the crab cakes and chicken lettuce wraps!! We were all blown away! This is literally the most pedestrian food humanly possible. It is the very definition of generic bar food. If "farm to table" is used as a descriptor then Denny's, Applebee's and IHOP fall under the same category. I am flabbergasted that someone would open a restaurant serving such a low quality fare with all of the new food options popping up all over Southie. read more

I was so excited to go to a new place in Southie. The bar is cute (that's why it gets two stars) but the food is horrible. The waitress suggested the shared plates so we went off her recommendation. When the food came out it was obvious that this was a microwave special. We could even hear the beep of the microwave timer. The food is mediocre at best and I'm not paying $10 for an appetizer that is microwaved. I'll go home and do that myself. Also, we were here in mid-January - why is there pumpkin beer still on the list? Unfortunately, this is a pass. read more

Great addition to Southie! We tried a couple of the small plates and everything was fresh and flavorful. The lettuce wraps - lobster avocado salad and pork tacos.... All had distinctive flavor and the tacos had a nice little kick. Our server (I am forgetting her name) was excellent - she checked in on us several times to make sure we liked all of the food and to make sure that we had everything we needed. All of the staff were attentive and truly wanted to make sure we enjoyed the restaurant. Cute bar area with excellent beer selection! I'll definitely be going back! read more

My new favorite place in Southie. I went to dinner last night at Roza Lyons. The atmosphere is great. We are in our 40s and I really appreciated the fact that it did not have that loud bar atmosphere some of the other restaurants in Southie have. We ordered the pretzel sticks, lettuce wraps, rico wrap and salad. All of the food was fresh and delicious. I liked the menu which has plenty of healthy options. Came here last night for the first time. It's a cozy space with a decent amount of bar seats and tables. We sat in the back and found there was a decent crowd for a Tuesday night. We started with two glass of wine, both decent sized pours, followed by the shared plate of brunette. There were 4 pieces of bread with the tomatoes on top. It was very good and the perfect starter to share. I had the apple and goat cheese salad, with added chicken. I found the salad very nice, I wish the dressing wasn't Italian but I never checked if they had others. My friend had the avocado BLT and it looked so good and fresh. Overall I would definitely come back. It was a great alternative to other Southie spots, a little toned down (which was what we wanted). I suggest trying out this local spot for casual drinks and food. I'd like to see what it is like on the weekend. I could see it being a good place to actually watch the game. read more
