Great service! Discovered that the shower wasn't draining one night and tried to fix it over night with "green gobbler." The next morning the shower still wasn't draining. I called a little before 8 AM and was set up with an appointment anywhere between 9:30 AM and 11 AM. Got a call around 9:15 AM that the plumbers were on their way. I thought I would need two plumbers because I thought the toilet was gurgling, but nope, I only needed one. It turned out to be just a shower clog and not a sewer problem.YAY! I was only charged for one plumber, which was so awesome and incredibly fair. Both plumbers were professional and hard-working and explained everything to me. Be careful. This company is very specifically not a plumber's service. This is an important distinction because I would not have hired them if I knew they couldn't do the work I needed. They definitely didn't tell me they couldn't, even after the job! They were hired to fix a slow draining sink and tub for a rental property. They came and put in 1.5 hours of billable work(close to $300), and left, with the sink drain still dripping underneath(it was dripping before). No notice from them that it wasn't fixed, or that they couldn't fix it because they aren't plumbers. After I was told by the tenant about the ongoing problem, I called them back to have them fix it, to be told, rudely, they wouldn't and they didn't have to tell me that the drain was still leaking, because they don't know how many times the tenant had already told me about it. It was unprofessional. Save yourself the hassle and just call a real plumber, unless you have a very specific problem! I'm definitely not using them ever again. read more

I have never posted a 1-star review. However, this case merits just that. I've been a long-time Roy's customer - over 20 years in fact. In general, the service was decent. Sometimes they showed up late, but that is to be expected. However, this time I just needed someone to come out and snake a drain that was backed up with sewage. Roy's had done this in the past, and had accepted my request for emergency service. However, when I called to clarify that there was an inch of sewage in the shower that had backed up and spilled into the bathroom floor, I was told that I need to have this cleaned prior to Roy's providing service. So, I cleaned it up myself and called them back to confirm we were all set and I was told that Roy's would no longer honor the scheduled appointment given that I did not get it professionally cleaned. When I asked who they recommend I have come out to clean the bathroom, I was told to look that up on the internet. Wow! I've been a homeowner now for 20+ years and never had someone refuse to honor a scheduled appointment. I even offered to pay the service fee if the service person decided the bathroom needed additional cleaning before they could snake the drain. read more

First off I take writing a negative review very, very seriously. And only do so if I feel the situation was extreme enough to warrant one. Which I do in this case. Wow, they just blew me off! I own a small real estate company, Roy's came highly recommended from Someone I respect. I give their name out all the time. I've been loyal to them. I even waited a day with my backed up sewer system out of loyalty. An hour and a half after their scheduled arrival time, after I already confirmed multiple times they were coming out, they called and said they couldn't make it out. They also couldn't even get me on the schedule the next day until the end of the day. Business must be good at Roy's to blow off a customer so blatantly. Anyway, everyone has bad days, I will assume that's what today was, but I will not be able to use or refer them again. read more

Called Roy's to get help with a commercial property plumbing issue. All our toilets were backing up. They came out promptly, cleared the line, charged $300 for 1 hour of work, which seemed high, but they said it was because they needed two guys to come out. A week later, the same issue happened again. I call them back- the woman on the phone said "We can come back out, but you'll be charged." To spend $300 then have the exact same problem happen again within a week, and be told that I'm welcome to spend more money is unacceptable. A company that stands behind their work would come out and fix the problem once and for all. If it happens again, come out and attempt to make it right. If I'm a paying customer, you do the job right the first time. If I've paid you, and it happens again immediately, then I've thrown money away if you don't do the right thing and complete the job that I've paid hundreds of dollars for. If it turns out to be a much bigger problem, then I'll pay more, but I expect my initial payment to mean something- as in not being charged to diagnose what has caused the problem to reoccur. I will never use Roy's Sewer Service again. A compete waste of money, effort, and time. Take your business somewhere else. read more

I don't often write Yelp reviews, but because of the terrific job Roy's did for us this morning, I feel compelled to write this. Overnight, our downstairs bathtub filled up with sewage back-up, which was obviously upsetting to us. We searched through Yelp and NextDoor and Roy's got really good ratings and it appeared that they specialize in sewers and drain repairs. I called this morning and the woman on the phone said they could get someone out today. About ten minutes later she called back and informed us that she had someone on the way. John showed up and immediately went to work to diagnose the problem. He got his rooter/snake machine out of his truck and proceeded to go to our clean-out and start working his way through the pipes. Within about ten minutes he found the problem, removed the blockage and our toilets and tub were back in working order. All was done within 45 minutes. He was fast, efficient and very professional. We're very pleased and will be happy to recommend Roy's in the future. read more

I have used Roy's for some time now. In the past 3 months I have had 2 sink clogs in different parts of the house. I had a plumber in and he could not fix one and only temporally fixed another that replugged. Both times I called Roy's and they showed up the same day and fixed the problem quickly. We had 2 guys in on one call- but one was in training and no extra charge. The young men were polite, outgoing and left no mess. The $150 was less than a plumber wanted including the one who could not fix the problem as his snake was too short. read more

Roy's answered the phone and had a tech on the way in the first 3 minutes. Tim arrived about 20 minutes later! and assessed the main drain blockage and how to attack it. He had all the equipment and while that's always a good thing, Tim knew exactly how to deal with our almost 100 year old twisting, curving, oddly installed pipes. It probably took him an extra 5 minutes to figure out how to make the final bend in the pipe before he cleared it all the way to the street. He even showed me the location of our exterior main drain and pointed out areas we should consider in the future. We were very happy with the work and Tim is simply the best (we had tried to do it ourselves, called another plumber over - and no one else could diagnose and fix the problem) Thanks Tim, and Roy's for having a great team member available. read more

Roy's was recommended by my contractor. Called and they were able to come out same day to clear two access drains. Curtis cleared out one end of the house, but then we were having a hard time locating the second clean out. After some snooping we found it hiding under a irrigation lid. Very personable, and made recommendations for updating the septic line to prevent future issues. Will be using them to clear the septic tank in the near future. read more

We had Roy's crew come out and empty our septic tank. The work was fine, but I have a problem with their billing/business practices. When I booked the work I was told that they had to send a technician at $170 an hour along with the truck and driver which was $650. The two of them were here for 2.5 hours and when the technician handed me his bill he told me that he had added an additional half hour of his time so that he could accompany the driver to go to dump the truck. I misunderstood and thought he was telling me that he was adding a half hour to the first two hours he was there for a total of 2.5 hours. Not being clear on it I went ahead and paid him for what turned out to be 3 hours of his time. He had written on the invoice that he was on site for 3 hours, which was not true. When I called the company to ask that they refund the extra half hour I was billed for their technician to go with the driver to dump the truck the lady on the phone just wanted to argue with me. She was quite rude and refused to refund the 1/2 hour of time. In fact, she suggested they should have charged me more for the distance they had to travel for the job. They did good work, but avoid them for their shady business practices. read more

I've been a customer of Roy's for many years and frequently recommend them to friends but today I experienced one of the most frustrating interactions with one of their customer service staff who answers the phone and schedules for them. I first called and spoke to Megan, who was helpful and efficient in scheduling a clean out same day as I've come to expect from Roy's but when I called back to request that the driver give me a heads up when they were on the way another woman answered the phone and said I hadn't called to schedule an appointment and that she was the only one in the office. She put me on hold and came back and said oh Megan is here and answering the phone, what is it you need? So I started again. The next hurdle was she asked if there are tenants in the house and I confirmed that there are so she wanted their phone number, she then went on to say that if they don't answer when the driver calls they won't come out. I told her that the tenant would be home all day and works from home but if they are in a meeting they may not be able to answer the phone and she snapped back, " then we won't come" I said please just have the driver call me and I'll meet them there and she said we need the tenants number because if no one is home we won't come. She never offered any other way to help she just kept saying, "if they don't answer the phone we won't come." Really frustrating call. So disappointing. read more

I am beyond disappointed in this company. They used to be reliable and I used them for years. All I needed was a drain clean out and I started trying to get them out last Thursday. It is now Monday afternoon and they now tell me they can not do this today. I ended up calling someone else - they will be out tomorrow morning. I will NEVER call Roy's again. I am now in far worse shape, plumbing wise, and I do not appreciate being strung along. Especially if you are in Novato, I would use Reggie's Reliable Plumbing or John Gleason Plumbing. read more

Called Roy's Sewer Service to resolve a slow kitchen and garage drain issue. Justin shows up within a couple of hours and was able to clear the drain shortly. This guy was GREAT. The line from the kitchen was blocked all the way to the sewer; this happens around once per year. Usually a plumber just comes, power snakes it out, and splits. This guy, Tim, also: 1. Explained why it happens every year, and how to prevent it from happening again. 2. Told me why it probably was that it's clogged again after only 4 months since it was last cleared (most likely the last plumber snaked until it drained, then stopped, instead of continuing to snake until the entire line was cleared). 3. Had time left on his hour, so went into the bathroom, checked everything in there, pulled out the sink drain/stopper mechanism and cleaned all the gunk out of there, and cleaned out the holes in the toilet where the water comes out, because some of them were clogged. The lady on the phone was kind of abrupt and snotty, but the plumber came as promised, the same day, and didn't try to upsell me on anything. I highly recommend this firm, and this employee Tim in particular. read more

Having a clogged sewer line is not a pleasant experience, but Roy's people helped minimize the stress. Called and got someone in 40 minutes after first plumber could not unclog line. First plumber had come out and could not unclog line because his snake was not long enough (100 feet), and recommended getting someone with a longer snake. Turns out only Roy's and Roto Rooter have 200' snakes. Recommendation was to use Roy's because it was cheaper. Dispatch said that to have longer snake, would need their big machine and a two-man crew, $349/hr. Crew came out, set up machine quickly, and within minutes had located manhole where drain came out, and set up snake. Operated and blockage was gone within minutes. Friendly people, quick, good service. Who could ask for more? read more

absolute crap. no pun intended. i live in a oddly-built and designed studio with akward plumbing setup. all of the pipes were running into eachother, and it was a joke. the shower wouldn't drain for no explainable reason, so we resorted to calling a plumber. first mistake. a sweaty, smelly, dirty unprofessional man came out to my house to check it out. the vibe i got from him was immediately recognizable as creepy. a few minutes after he arrived, i got a call on my cell phone asking if he had arrived. i told them he had, and their response was 'uhh ok well can you put him on the phone then..' oh, geeze i'm SORRY i didn't know i was your business phone service! after fiddling around with who-knows-what in the bathroom, i started to wonder what the HELL he was doing. sitting at my desk, i saw thru the space between the hinges and the door thru the mirror.. this creeper. he had the water running while he stood the unproductively. a few seconds later, he started going thru my personals. seriously! going thru lady products, ya know? reading them, playing with them. OMG get the hell out of my house! so, i told him i had to leave. i was so disturbed by this disgusting person, i couldn't be around it. and, quite frankly, didn't feel comfortable. so i called the company to let them know the situation. their main concerns: now, they can't get ahold of him. not my problem! my age. what is it your business how old i am? old enough to live on my own! now, the creeper is there alone. again, YOUR problem. your insurance can deal with his creepy ass if he does anything.. STRONGLY recommend NOT using this service! the managers are completely unhelpful, the staff is rude, disgusting and unsettling.. and they obviously are not very good. they had to send two more guys out a few days later to fix what the other guy didn't do. and broke my water purifier. jerks. read more

These guys are like proctologists for buildings. They have bailed me out many times. I have called them for help over the years at my job. They work long hard hours and its a dirty job. I am very disappointed in Roy's. I have used them in the past and had a good experience but today they dropped the ball big time and wasted my day waiting around for a call from the "expert" who never bothered to call back to inform me that my issue was a "plumbing" issue not a sewer issue. That may or may not be the issue with my sink, but we won't know now until we can get an actual "plumber" out here. Miscommunication, no follow-up, and ill-trained dispatchers. Be sure you stay on top of these guys or run the risk of them wasting your day too! If they had been professional I would have had time to get someone out today who may have been able to help me.....sadly, I will now have to take another day off work to deal with this. Had a storm drain that was clogged. Called Roy's. Was difficult to get scheduled. After three calls I succeed. They sent out two guys, both were wonderful. They cleaned about a 70 foot drain pipe, right up to the last two feet. Yes, two feet. Home office called and pulled them off the job for another. Guys said they would come back. Charged me $750. But, drain still clogged at the clean out, the last two feet, so no better off than before they started. Home office said last two feet is too difficult to do and no time to send anyone back. So, drain still clogged, and I wasted $750. Worst experience I have had in a very long time. Companies that provide service like this just should not be allowed to stay in business. Maybe this is the one off, put, the fact is, they left me high and dry, took my money and left. Have never written a negative review before, but this company so deserves not to be in business. read more

I was hesitant to call Roy's after some of these reviews, even though some seem pretty ridiculous and they are old. I needed help with my sewer and out of the 3 places I called locally, Roy's was the only one who could help within 24 hours. Seriously had other companies tell me 4-5 days at double and triple the price that Roy's quoted me. Kevin from Roy's came out, he looked like a normal blue collar working man, not a "stalkarazzi" like some "elite yelper" complained about. As a new homeowner and not knowing much about sewers, I told him what I thought the issues were, and what might be wrong. He listened to me, but said he thought the problem was somewhere else on my line. To make me happy, he used his camera tool to check where I thought the problem was, and he was right, the area I thought was giving me trouble was totally fine. He then televised the rest of my line and located the problem, but before all of that, Kevin asked if I had a digital camera memory card, so he could record the footage onto it. I did, and was able to keep the video for my records. My house was built in the '70s, and I was worried the pipes might be fragile so he used a small "snake" (the device that cleans the line) then proceed to use 2 additional sizes to loosen the gunk up slowly because the issue was bad (previous owner apparently poured grease down the lines.) All of this took around an hour, he explained everything he was doing, educating me in the process, we told jokes, exchanged stories and had some good laughs. I would recommend Roy's to any of my friends and family. I had a great experience using them. Maybe these other reviews are from people who don't interact well with others? read more

Any company that pulls off a job before starting because they forgot to brings tarps (a request made at time of scheduling - which was a 3 week wait - and this client was not told that the request for tarps was too demanding at time of scheduling) simply defies description and should not even receive one star.
