We had to replace the sewer lateral after moving to a new home, and we talked to several companies before deciding to go with Alpha Trenchless. What made the difference for us was their clear understanding of our property's unique challenges (slope with minimal clearance underground.). We were told right away that this particular job could not be done in a trenchless way, so we fully understood the limitations and the process. The best part was when I asked Javier, who came to give the estimate, how our new garden landscape would be handled during the job. Javier told me that his crew would do it's best to make the yard look exactly how it was before the job. And that they did! This company has a very professional and friendly staff, from Amanda in the office who kept us appraised about the scheduling, timeline and permits, to the technicians who always kept the area safe and clean while undergoing a massive structural improvement. The patch of concrete in our front patio looks like it was there all along, as does the street patch of asphalt along our residential drive. Javier came out today and instead of giving me a quote for pipe bursting which I told him I thought I needed, told me my system could hold up for years as long as we aren't abusing it with non-bio-degradable things down the drains. This review is definitely overdue. After three to four other quotes, calls and lots of time, I found Alpha. Professional, responsive, reasonable priced (compared to all the heavy hitters out there) and got the job done when they said they would. We were in a tight timeline with a renovation and needed a new sewer line, new clean out etc. Alpha had the guys come out do the work and the owner was onsite inspecting what his guys had done. I'm shocked by the unresponsiveness of this company. Based on the stellar reviews I read here, I had someone come out to quote us a price on a drainage project. The person who came over had some good ideas about what needed to be done and promised someone would be by to do some further measurement so they could propose a bid. A week went by. I reached out to the ownership on Yelp. Got a canned response. Another week went by. Said they'd send me the proposal when it was ready. Then.... ghosted? My last message to them was "if you are too busy to quote or do this project, I would appreciate the courtesy of a response." Crickets. Reminds me of a saying I learned in business: "How someone sells you indicates how they will decide you." Guess I got my answer. ** Update: I was further disturbed by the response to this review. It suggests I asked for free work. Not true, as evidenced by my multiple messages asking for an estimate for the repairs. I highly recommend Alpha Trenchless. I got five estimates to have my sewer lateral replaced. I researched and asked lots of questions, which Alpha (Esperanza) promptly answered. Some companies insisted they would have to do four excavations, including in my driveway. But Alpha Trenchless did just two, one at the house and one at the street. Their estimate was written with clear language. They coordinated with all utility companies and scheduled all inspections. During the job, they attended to every detail and left my property exactly how it was before they'd arrived. Plus, everyone was extremely nice. One factor that I didn't fully appreciate was the unpredictable costs to patch the street. It turns out that the city public works department determines this cost, which can't be determined until the end of the job. In my case, it was pricy. That being said, the final costs from Alpha Trenchless were still the lowest of my five estimates. Of Note: Three different Novato inspectors told me that they do great work, so I'm confident that the final product is high quality. read more

We were in a dilemma with sewer lateral that broke on a shared driveway over 300'. We had several local companies come out and hand us huge quotes for complete lateral replacement. We found Alpha Trenchless out on San Pedro Rd doing a huge job. My husband stopped the car and went to ask them about our situation. Javi came out that same afternoon and we had a quote the next morning. They came out and worked for us quickly and methodically. We were so grateful as with a shared driveway where laterals were practically on top of each other not to mention all the utility cables to deal with. We had everything accomplished in two days to our relief. They restored the ground to better than it looked before they started. A joy to work with! Warning: this will be a bit long and detailed :), but I think it's a particularly insightful story, so here goes... We had an issue with our sewer ejector pump backing up and running, even when nothing was flushing. Javier from Alpha Trenchless (and his little helper one day :) diagnosed and fixed it quickly at *very* reasonable cost. He was also very honest and explained everything to us patiently in earnest detail. And we know this is definitely true because he was the *third* team to come out, so we inadvertently got detailed comparisons of Alpha Trenchless vs. two other 4.5+ star, rigorously-reviewed plumbing companies. Not to knock them, but just to be fair in telling the whole story: The first company we called has 4.5 stars and lots of reviews on Yelp. It charged us ~$400 across two trips just to video inspect the pump, basin, and pipe all the way out to the street. Then they misdiagnosed the issue and quoted us $15-20k to do a full project to "fix everything". When you're being asked to pay the price of a midsize Japanese sedan to fix a plumbing issue, you get additional opinions. The second company we called has 5 stars and lots of reviews on Yelp. A couple of nice gentlemen came out, took a look (literally a look), and quoted us $2k to come back the next day to take apart the pump and evaluate it. If that came back OK, *then* they said they'd come back again at (unknowable!) separate cost with video snake thing to inspect the pipe out to the street. On a whim, I called a third company also highly-rated: Zaragoza Plumbing. They were booked that day, but mentioned that since there might be a pipe or larger trenchless project (per first company's $20k mention), I should talk with Alpha Trenchless who they knew well and recommended. I called them, a nice contact on the phone was very responsive. Javier came out a couple hours later and was almost apologetic about charging just a couple hundred bucks to immediately inspect the pump and basin, and video inspect the pipe out to the street. He then patiently explained with video everything he was seeing, taking care not to obscure any detail behind hand-wavy expertise. Within that, he didn't trash the first company, but did explain using the in-pipe video where he disagreed with the assessment that we would need to do a huge project. I felt so much more confident in my understanding of what was happening in that short conversation than all of the chats leading up to it, that I actually immediately went and wrote down all the detail in an email to myself for future knowledge. He went over 2-3 potential routes, but recommended trying the least costly fix that would be a couple more hundred dollars. He was back a couple days later with parts in-hand as his schedule allowed to fix it. And he fixed it. My only regret is that it's taken me several weeks to remember to sit down and right this review. Best experience with a local service provider I've ever had. read more

This review is overdue since we had our main line replaced by Alpha over a year ago - but I want to give credit where credit is due! We had a broken, galvanized main line that was gushing water in front of our house....in the height of the pandemic. We called out various plumbers who gave us ridiculous quotes and could not stop the water gushing from our house until we agreed to a big project. We then called Alpha! They came out on a Saturday, immediately stopped the gushing water and promptly put in a trenchless main line with no need to rip up our driveway and landscaping. It was truly a lifesaver. A bit long but content and context are important...Our sewer lateral started having issues in March of this year. We had it cleared by a great company, American Sewer and Drain (Efrain). Unfortunately we had to have Efrain come out 3 more times over the next 6 months. On the last visit (Sept.) he brought his camera and showed us that the lateral line was crushed to about 1/3 it's normal size. He tried to connect us with a plumber to fix it but it didn't work out. After a deep-dive into 'Qualified' lateral repair companies Alpha Trenchless was the best choice. The owner, Esperanza, returned my call the same day and that is when 'the magic' began to happen. She schedule Javier to come and provide a quote the next day. He spent several hours at our house analyzing the issue, including using his camera in a secondary cleanout and inspecting the lateral in the crawlspace in order to provide an accurate no-cost quote. It looked like a one day job but they were booked out 3 weeks. I told him my wife was having surgery next week and that it would be a nightmare dealing with the lateral every few days. When he left he promised to try and do it sooner if at all possible. We received a quote and a call from Esperanza that they could do the job in one day the following week. We accepted what was a fair price. I can't say enough about Esperanza, Javier and the crew that came to our home early in the morning and worked all day. They were all very friendly, professional and hard working. They dug out the area around the cleanout and a bit under a section of our front porch, carefully moving several plants and shrubs, and proceeded to do what they do best...replace a 10' section of lateral that had been crushed by a 6-8" tree root. I periodically checked progress and they always explained the process and the stage they were at. When they said they were finished I checked the area and jokingly asked: 'when are you going to start?' The area that had been a 3 foot square hole in front of our home was gone; it looked exactly the same as it did before they started the work. Amazing. Great company, great job and great people. If you are in need of this type of work, Alpha Trenchless is your company. There are a lot of plumbing companies with good ratings but if you read the reviews in full, you will see issues that should cause you to think twice. After reading all of Alpha's reviews I was convinced that they were the only choice. I was right, they are an exceptional company that did a great job and provided exceptional service. I engaged Alpha Trenchless to repair and replace my sewer lateral. They were, for the most part accommodating at the outset and did replace the pipe, which seems to now be draining properly. However, I cannot give them a good review because we had some disagreements, and their behavior in response was rude, bullying, and offensive. My situation was perhaps a bit unique because the damage to my pipe was near the main in the street, and it was agreed that perhaps this was not my fault, and perhaps it was the fault of a utility company that had recently done work in the area. The City of Novato had agreed to consider compensation if they could see photographs of the damage. I thus spoke to the owner of Alpha Trenchless, and we agreed verbally that he (the owner) would take photographs of the damage for my use. This did not seem to be a problem, but upon doing the work, they chose to take an alternate route to the main, which meant they could not take the photos. Rather than calling me and informing me of this decision or asking what I might want to do, they just did their work and covered the hole, completing the project. The problem is that now I did not have photos. When I mentioned this, the owner was defensive and aggressive. He did not seem concerned at all about our previous agreement, nor did he seem to care that I would not have the opportunity to address compensation with the City of Novato. On the contrary, he was, as I said, defensive and threatening, if not abusive. read more

A long overdue review. I can't say how impressed I am with Xavier and his entire team. Getting a kick out of some reviews who complain about delays and non response ... hey folks this is plumbing and escavation - shite happens - literally! My sewer lateral was no exception. A beast of job - 300 ft. run down a steep driveway with 4 new cleanouts needed. Line was collapsed and in such bad shape Xavier couldn't even get a camera down to verify for public works permit. Xavier spent an entire morning just trying to clean out and get a clear run - most would have run from the job and Xavier stuck it out knee deep muck. Staff worked dilligently with public works department to jump hurdles and get permissioning (street had just recently been repaved) and final certificate of completion. Efficient, reliable, communicative AND extremely fair. Best contracting experience I have had in 40 years of building projects. FYI - I would skip the $50 rebates that arrive in the mail from Best of Marin and 5 star rated large plumbing firms. You will pay dearly. I needed to replace sewer lateral line for my house in Mill Valley. I contacted Alpha Trenchless. Alpha Trenchless had done an excellent job from the beginning to the end of the project. So impressed by this company. Javier responded very quickly to my call and assessed my plumbing problem in minutes. I was all set to have my water line replaced because none of the other plumbers I called could tell me why I wasn't getting water. I felt desperate and didn't want my whole yard dug up and thought a trenchless company was my best bet. I had previously worked with another plumber to install a pressure valve on my lines and it seems that he put everything on backwards! Javier spent the time to investigate and found that all that was needed was an inexpensive repair to correct all the mistakes made by the previous plumber. It speaks to his honesty and integrity that he did not take advantage of the situation and tell me I needed a new line.
