    Salmon salad
    Sonya H.

Solid Mediterranean bowls, salads, and pitas topped with a variety of fresh ingredients and perfect for a relatively tasty, quick, and affordable meal. The concept is pretty similar to CAVA -- you can either build your own by choosing a base, main, and toppings, or you can pick from one of their chef-curated options. I usually opt to build my own with their salmon fillet or roasted butternut squash over kale, and topped with all the veggies and hummus. All of their veggies are super fresh, and their sauces all pack a ton of flavor (watch out for the spicy ones -- they actually are quite spicy). Their salmon fillets tend to be very small and a touch dry, as I assume they've been sitting under the heat lamp for a while, but they still pack a good flavor. Although the food is solid, it's generally not my first choice for fast-casual Mediterranean fare, as (1) they're not always aware of which allergens are in their food, and (2) despite being a fast-casual spot, service can often be quite delayed. Starting with the first -- the staff is wonderful at handling dietary restrictions; they'll put on new gloves, make sure your order is on a clean service (i.e., new foil or bowl), and avoid working on other orders at the same time as yours. However, I'm worried they haven't been told what all the allergens are in all of their ingredients. For example, I've received their gluten-free falafel pita box at several catered office lunches, and, unfortunately, ended up feeling pretty sick afterwards. Although I appreciate that they have a gluten-free pita (although it does taste pretty dismal) and that they have gluten-free options for desserts and sides, I don't believe their falafel is gluten-free (or maybe it's something in the rice or one of the toppings...I'm not entirely sure what it is or if there's just some cross-contamination, but something in those boxes definitely isn't sitting right with me). Beyond dietary restrictions, the only other drawback to Roti is that it's not always as speedy as advertised, which is not at all the fault of the employees. Every time I go in, there are usually only 1-2 people working the entire restaurant, fielding a slew of both in-person and mobile orders. This naturally creates a delay in getting out all orders; for example, I'll sometimes wait upwards of 30+ min. for a line of five or so in-person customers because the staff is so swamped with mobile orders. On the flip side, if you get a mobile order, definitely go to pick it up instead of using their delivery service (which includes third-party apps like UberEats, as Roti opts to use their own drivers for those services). I usually have to wait over 45 min. for a delivery order, despite the quoted wait time of 15 min. and that my apartment is less than 2 miles away from the restaurant. All in all, I think Roti is a solid place for fresh, flavor-packed Mediterranean bowls, salads, and pitas. However, I would recommend caution if you have dietary restrictions or if you're in a huge rush.

I ordered a custom bowl based on recommendations from the young man preparing the food - who was both knowledgeable and friendly / polite. Every part of it was excellent, including the price! For for any major city, especially DC, their prices are incredible for the amount and quality of food your receive. I enjoyed it so much that I returned the next day & ordered the same combination! I did order after 7PM both days, so the restaurant was not busy & I was greeted and helped immediately.

For the price, it was ok. The saffron rice was good but I felt like the portion size was way too small in regards to the meat. Like that they give you 1 free pita though.

Delicious fast casual Mediterranean food bursting with flavor, better than Cava! While Cava is good, Roti has higher quality and better ingredients with more manageable portions. The turmeric rice is very flavorful and love to the fire roasted veggies. It's nice to not have to choose my protein between falafel or veggies. I can get both at Roti with a scoop of veggies without getting skimped on the falafel. At Cava, I would always have to choose between the two or get skimped on something! The fluffy cous cous and crispy falafel are quite tasty. All the sides and hummus, garlic lemon and spicy roasted red pepper dressings are flavorful. It's hard to go wrong! The chocolate chip cookies are a hit/miss depending on the location and time of day. If you can catch a freshly baked cookie out of the oven, they are hands-down the best cookies in DC with a a crispy shell and soft and goey inside. However if they've been packaged for hours, they taste stale and need to warm them up - not a fan. These sadly were stale! Sad to see many Roti locations temporarily closed including the one in my area in Vienna. Please reopen them soon! Worth a trip into DC for some Roti!

I go to roti often, the food is always fresh & flavorful. Samir offers outstanding customer service & is always a pleasure to chat with. If you're ever in the NOMA area I highly recommend!

I came into Roti today for the first time for a quick lunch and was pleasantly impressed with my meal. I honestly expected it to not be as good, since it's sort of a faster-food option. I was wrong, it was delicious . I ordered a rice bowl with the roti chicken, then added both types of cabbage, carrots, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, feta, the classic hummus and vinaigrette on top. I think the deciding factor for me was the hummus, it added a great flavor to my bowl, and when I tried my partners bowl with the yogurt, it didn't stand out to me. I definitely would recommend the classic hummus to tie your dish together! They also included a medium sized pita on the side, which I really appreciated. The workers were also very nice and helped us choose what we wanted to eat by giving recommendations. My only complaint is that I wish they added more meat in the bowls for the amount that we are paying. Other than that, I'll definitely be back for a quick lunch another day!

It had been years since I last ate Roti. I had it again yesterday and was quite happy with it, I went in and ordered the cauliflower and added salmon to it and paid $15.95 total. Today I went in again and ordered the exact same thing and was charged a total of $18.15. I told the cashier about the change in price and she said that since I got double protein I was charged double. Very confusing because the chili tahini cauliflower is included in the base price for the bowl. I paid for it and when I got back to the office I went to the online ordering to see if the price would be the same. I added the saffron rice first, then I selected my main protein and added the chili tahini cauliflower, next it asked if I wanted to add another protein and I selected the salmon, the total price came to be the same I had paid yesterday! That means that today I was overcharged which I am pretty upset about! I probably won't be having it again for a while!

Chicken Roti. Wish they didn't put the dressing capsules in the bowl- kinda not hygienic.

When my order looks exactly like the yelp photo submitted by the business owner-- Roti did that!! I have gone sparingly to Roti in downtown DC and have always left satisfied. They serve chipotle style Mediterranean food, evidenced in their name, though "Roti" is questionably masala vibes lol. I was ambivalent with this NoMa location due to poor ratings but after one order experience (ubereats, weekday lunch time) I'm pleased. The chicken roti is my go-to! At just $10 Roti offers such a wide array of frills to accompany your protein choice; red cabbage, feta, olives, hummas etc... 13 condiments at your behest! All of my Roti bowls have been fresh and the taste is consistent throughout the chain. They even have alcohol!! I would have given them a 5 but they placed the dressing capsules inside the salad bowl. That's unhygienic- see photo.

The Spanish cheese (Mahón) along with the crackers and mustard sauce was superb. All the meats had their own characteristics and unique flavors but the jamón stood out to us the most. It even went well with the sauce that came for our cauliflower dish. It was fun piecing the components together to make unique tasty bites. I would come back just for the charcuterie alone. The drinks we got were Angelli's Ferrari along with the espresso martini-ish. My favorite was definitely the Ferrari one, but the espresso martini was super mild and had a slight coffee flavor. Good for people who like very light coffee. The Ferrari one was very bright and had lots of fruity notes to hide the alcohol. For entrées, we had the shakshouka, crispy, cauliflower, and brunch pork belly. Out of all these the cauliflower was definitely my favorite; super light with good earthy flavors and nuttiness and acidity from the lemon. The brunch pork belly was good too. The meat was perfectly cooked, but I found the beans to be a little bit overwhelming. I'm not a fan of baked beans personally so that might've been my fault for picking the dish, but I still did enjoy it and the pork that was well cooked made up for it; definitely for someone who likes beans. Shakshouka was very hearty with a lot of tomatoes and red vegetables in general. If you like lasagna or any sort of tomato spaghetti dish, you will like this one. I found this to be a bit much though. I was slightly tired of the flavor at the end. Just be aware it is a bit spicy. We had a pear tart for dessert. Honestly, it reminded me of an apple pie and it was good, but I think that some of the other desserts would've been a bit better. Had a lot of sweet cinnamon notes along some crispy flaky dough from the outside. It was an interesting take but it was still good. The atmosphere is great here; we had seating on the second floor, so it was different from the busy first floor. Very relaxed and there's a lot of natural light coming around which made everything feel very welcoming. Our server was also super friendly. I will definitely be back at this place

Our water glasses were rarely empty. Service was kind. Food wise if I were to stack rank I would say the hummus is the best of what we ordered. The pita bread is thick and garlicky and oily and massive. The croquettes would be at the bottom of my list simply because they're dissimilar from any I've had before and a little bit underwhelming. The tuna was fresh but it's a small dish and not much to write home about. The lamb skewers have a subtle kick to them and they're pretty substantial. I'll definitely be back to try more! Highly recommend on a warm summer day as you're covered by the canopy above, if you're looking for a rooftop vibe.

It's one of those places where it just feels good to be out for the evening. As to the food: the vegetable dishes are outstanding. I am not big on dips, usually, but I was won over by the mutabal, made with squash tahini, mushrooms, and shallots. It is served with a delicious sesame crusted bread, that could be addictive if you are not careful. The star of the evening was the crispy brussels, with black garlic caesar and hot honey. My word! This was like no other brussels I've ever tasted. Even the steamed spinach, tucked away on the menu in the "sides" section, was really tasty. The proteins, by contrast, were disappointing. The calamari was ok but nothing special. It came breaded rather than lightly battered - not my preference. The torsh shish - tenderloin shishkebab - was under-seasoned and a bit fatty. I was surprised it didn't have more of a grilled, smoky flavor. But the real disappointment was what was supposed to be the star of the show: the short rib tagine, with apricot, bulgur wheat, and labne. With that description, I was expecting the meat to arrive on a bed of the other delicious ingredients, but instead we got a brick-shaped piece of meat with a dab of something else. It was tender enough, and tasted ok, but really...just ok. For the price I was expecting something a little more special. The desert aficionados among us had praise for the chocolate pot, but the Persian Love Cake did not get a lot of love. For the drinks: for a Turkish/Greek restaurant I was surprised that wines from those countries were not available by the glass. Alas, there was no Greek wine to be had, and the Turkish wine could be had only if you were prepared to cough up $90 for a bottle. As I was the only wine drinker in the group, that was not going to happen. Next time I might go for a mocktail. The fermented carrot juice was funky and mystical and perhaps the best thing we had all night, beating out even those brussels sprouts.

The meal itself with veggies, rice, salad and dressing is a really good meal. And I always get hummus on the side. Their hummus-as a middle easterner I find it weird they have hummus and a hummus dip on the menu. Keep it traditional with the hummus - one of them is super soupy like which is disappointing and when I order I can never remember which one I like. Hummus shouldn't be thin it's not tahini (although made with tahini) :) Also what I dislike is that I always ask for no bread or no sauce and they always give me 3-6 pieces of huge bread when I specify no bread and it just goes to waste EVERY time.
