man these were good. The sour cream draped all over both chimichangas was just perfect - I loved every bite that included it the guacamole / salsa combination when it came time to get to that also hit the spot as well the jack cheese was so soft and so well melted - it was some really fantastic cheese normally - i'm not a huge fan of black beans - i prefer meat or pinto beans over it - but i did enjoy these. It could've been better with a different protein source The tortilla outside really tied all of this together. It was crispy - not like an enchilada - but slightly more like a tostada. Each bite of it had a slight crunchiness and an overall great texture to eat. I do think there is a missed opportunity though - it could've been fried more - if you could generate a perfect golden brown texture this would've been amazing - the coloring here was similar to a normal tortilla - indicating some frying but not fully i didn't eat much of the mexican rice or refried beans since that wasn't the focus of my meal - but i thought the refried beans were kinda meh from the little i had - they weren't as good as sal y limon's finishing both chimichangas left me in the perfect place where i was incredibly satisfied but not excessively full - so that worked great in total, i thought this was an excellent meal that didn't quite fully live up to the hype but was absolute top tier mexican food read more

Overall, a solid spot for food! Ordered takeout on a Saturday after they opened. Online ordering was easy! Pick up was about 20 minutes after order was placed. My husband and I got the acapulco scallop and shrimp wet burrito. The chipotle sauce was delicious but the burrito was kind of empty for the price. I only had about 3 shrimps in mine, a few scallops and lots of onions and peppers. It also came with rice and beans in a separate container. For a $27 burrito, I expected a little bit more protein. We also ordered the guac and chips - pretty solid. And the churros but they forgot to give us caramel sauce so for $10 this also felt expensive and lacking. I love Mexican/Latin food so when my buddy suggested this place, I was all in! Rosita's apparently has been around a long time according to my buddy who's lived here for over 20 years. Right off the bat, the chips and salsa were really good, usually it's nice simple complimentary appetizer but I found myself asking our server to bring more of it. For entree I got the enchiladas mole poblano. Not the best enchilada's I've had, but pretty good. The chicken and mole sauce went well together had great flavor. It was a decent amount, I feel I've had bigger enchiladas and for a bit cheaper too. This the downside to an otherwise decent visit, it's a bit on the high side overall. My Jarritos was like $5, talk about a markup. This is another one of my friend's favorite spots so I'm sure I'll find myself here again and the food is good, but again a bit high for comparatively to similar spots. read more

I don't know why I keep doing this to myself. I am going to start calling Mexican food in this city, "Seattle style" because the cuisine here is truly it's own thing. I had a hankering for Mexican food and Rosita's came up on my phone as I was in Green Lake. Rosita's is a really cute spot located in a quaint and trendy little commercial area of Green Lake. I really liked the area. I wish I could say the same for the food here. I want to point out that I respect how long Rosita's has been serving this community and I'm sure many people have some great memories here. The staff were also really nice. Unfortunately, my food was reflective of the on-going issues with Mexican food in Seattle. Is is being whitewashed. So many times, the food is watered down, seasonings are downplayed, traditional preparation, specifically with the chile relleno here, is lost. The best thing here were the chips and salsa, particularly the green one. I could just much on those and get a drink and be perfectly happy. For my meal, I had the chicken enchilada and chile relleno with a Cadillac margarita. The margarita was overly sweet, but very strong. The bartender does not play here. I was not able to finish the whole thing since I had to drive. The enchilada was very basic and boring, but the chile relleno was atrocious. This is the second place in Seattle where it was prepared in this manner. Instead of a traditional style chile relleno, you are getting a poblano pepper wrapped in a thin layer of egg. And that's it. It was more like an omelet. I was very disappointed when I saw this. To me this is a quick way to push out this dish, as chile rellenos are a bit time consuming, but totally worth the work. The sauce tasted like it came out of a can and there were peas and carrots on top of my food. WHY??? Why are those there??? Like WTF. I've had a better meal at Azteca. For me if I ever return, it will be just for the chips and salsa. read more

I haven't been to Rosita's in probably 10 years and this place still slaps. My family and I were in Greenlake last weekend and were really craving mexican food when I remembered Rosita's. It was a Saturday night so the place was slammed, but the three of us managed to squeeze into a table for 2 quickly. The tortilla lady was slinging fresh flour tortillas for us to munch on while we waited for our food. Chips and salsa are still complimentary and damn, that salsa still packs some heat. Our server messed up our order, but rectified it quickly. Our steak fajitas and carne asada came out blazing hot and everything was so delicious. We demolished it and everyone left happy. read more

A green lake establishment! We came for lunch on a Saturday and there was pretty good business. It's a huge space, so even though there were many parties it didn't seem crowded at all. We ordered the carnitas plate and enchiladas verdes with chicken. The carnitas plate comes with homemade tortillas from their tortillaria and with all the fixings, including a generous amount of guac! I also liked that the carnitas were extra crispy. We came here on a Friday night after looking for any food in the area. It was pretty lively, and there were a good number of customers inside. We were able to get seated right away as a party of 6 though, which was great. The complementary chips and salsa are unlimited and great - the chips are a good thickness and crunchiness, and the salsas are really fresh as well. They kept coming back and refilling it for us which was super nice. I got the chicken tortilla soup as my main entree, which was good but nothing special. The atmosphere inside Rosita's on Friday night was so welcoming, charming, and warm. Placed my order to go and enjoyed looking at the beautiful decorations on the wall. I ordered shredded beef enchiladas and they did not disappoint! Crispy on the outside and super flavorful on the inside-served with all the fixings that I could wish for, sour cream, guacamole, green tomatilla sauce and chopped scallions. Rosita's is a true neighborhood gem. Family-run, and the owner and his family obviously take great pride in their business. The food is delicious, from the house-made chips and salsa to the complimentary corn tortillas being made in the middle of the dining room, with butter and salsa if you wish. The ingredients are always top-notch, and portions generous. I often get the chicken salad, and the lettuce is always super fresh with plentiful toppings. The enchilada sauce tastes like watered town tomato juice and I KNOW they know that because they tried to hide the flavor under a glob of gelatinous cheese. Same with the chimichanga. Rosita's has amazing Mexican food. This is the first restaurant I've ever been to where the chips were house made. Fresh corn tortillas made at the stand, free if you request one from the cook but don't forget to add to her tip jar. Ordered a tamal and the waitress wanted to argue that it was tamales - and it was very delicious. Came slathered in sauce which I could have done without. Main entree I had was the carnitas with corn tortillas. The star of the meal were the tortillas. The pork was cut into large chunks, tasted all right. Rice and beans were fresh. Friends with me enjoyed their arroz con pollo, burrito and more. The only cons were that the bartender didn't acknowledge my friends trying to order, waitress didn't check on us and the acoustics means we were almost shouting to hear each other along with the server actually being shouted at so she knew who to serve what food to. Would definitely come back and try other dishes. read more

Used to love this place and ate in restaurant and did pick up orders all the time. Got my usual today to-go and it was almost $40 for enchiladas and guac. Totally fine on that, but the weird chip skimping was definitely unappreciated. They told me I couldn't get chips that I literally paid for with the $9 guac I ordered....I was told the bag of chips I got with my enchiladas was also the guacamole chips (it isn't), and I would need to pay for more (but didn't tell me how much or offer to let me pay for more lol. There's no option to order more chips on the app). They used to give a bag of chips for any entree and then another for if you ordered salsa or guac because they're literally a part of the side order. For reasons that remain a mystery to me, I will forget about Rosita's for weeks, months or even years, and when I go back, I'm completely stunned by how good the food is. How can I possibly forget this place? The most important must-do when you go is get some fresh homemade tortillas. It is not to be missed! And after you've had one, go back and ask for another. They're made while you watch, and are piping hot when handed to you. Worth every penny (which is free, if you're eating a meal). I ordered Enchiladas Mole Poblano with chicken, and it was delicious. Nice mole. My friends and I all ordered margaritas, which we were really happy with. Biggest complaint is that they close too darn early (8 p.m. during the week, 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday). We weren't ready to call it a night at 8 p.m.--did I mention they close way too early!!--so we headed over to the nearby Tapas Lab for dessert and dessert drinks. read more

My go-to is the carnitas plate and it never disappoints - the taste is exquisite and the portion is big! Service is always good - plenty of attentiveness and food comes out quick. I've gone to Rosita's often since we came to Seattle eight years ago. Loved the neighborhood vibe, friendly staff, and food. But last night was the last time, sadly. Paid roughly $30 to take out one order of chicken fajitas. The portion was tiny, the food was less flavorful, and they forgot to put tortillas in. I called not because I wanted anything except to let them know I had no tortillas, and the host who answered said she didn't know how to give me a credit but would have a manager call me back. We came in yesterday for lunch. Saturday at noon was great-we were seated right away and enjoyed their chips and salsa. I was impressed by how quickly we were served-we had our entrees within 10 minutes of ordering. I enjoyed my avocado tostado with chicken (I asked for no cheese). My friend enjoyed her enchilada. The portion sizes were perfect-we had just enough to feel satisfied and their flavor was on point. The Avocado Tostada tasted very fresh.
