One of chicago's all time classic restaurants . This is our go to for family occasions as well as just for a satisfying meal through the week . They don't offer a kids menu BUT you simply ask for a 1/2 portion of any of the menu items . ALL of the desserts are made to share (see photos )... so don't make the mistake of over ordering and wasting so much yummy food . We love to sit out side and take in the sites . My boyfriend and I went here for my birthday dinner!!! We didn't want to wait the 2 hour wait, so we chose to eat at the bar downstairs. We got our food in under 10 minutes, the portion sizes are HUGE, and the bartender's service was great! Food was amazing!! The Cesar salad was on point! Meatballs were perfectly cooked with great sweet and tangy sauce. The fettuccine Alfredo was perfectly rich and delicious. Great service and ambiance. Only wish we could have sat on the patio; however host getting us in without with a resy was solid! Wine was spectacular! Def a must go for some great Italian food. I can't say enough about the staff and service of this restaurant! We walked in 10 minutes before the kitchen closed and were seated immediately. We apologized for our timing but to a person they all told us to take our time and enjoy ourselves. They were all friendly and the atmosphere was as well. My husband made a reservation a month in advance for a special night. He specified that he is in a wheelchair. We did not get a call until the day of our reservation that they cannot accommodate a wheelchair and do not have an accessible bathroom, leaving us no time to make another reservation. I've been to rosebud on rush twice now - once for dinner and once for brunch. Overall, it's fine - there are much better quality Italian places in Chicago, but this place is a good value and very easy to get a last minute reservation for a large group or just walk in. Food - portions are HUGE. When I came for dinner I was carting leftovers home I never finished. I got the vodka rigatoni for brunch - no regrets, it wasn't amazing but it was solid. The other brunch fare was very typical and looked just OK. That said we walked out with $33 bill each for entees and drinks - so it's a very good deal. And I definitely appreciate the over the top bread basket! Ambiance - it's fine, not a white tablecloth fancy experience, not cute or particularly interesting. It's just fine. read more

At the recommendation of a friend, my wife and I decided to try Roaebuds. It was busy, yet intimate and and quaint. We shared a salad as well as the lasagna. Both were fantastic! Delicious! Bread basket was tasty with olive oil. Every serving size is HUGe! Spaghetti and meatballs were massive and delicious. The chicken parmigiana took up an entire plate and had a nice thin crunch. I'd recommend sharing this entree. The staff are great and treat you like family. Be sure to make a reservation. read more

Delicious meal in a cozy atmosphere! Went with my mom on a Sunday night with a reservation. It probably was not needed as there was ample seating. They brought warm bread with olive oil and parm for dipping. We each had a house salad which was huge and very fresh. My mom had the rigatoni with vodka sauce and I ordered white fish but they were unfortunately out. I opted for the sea bass oreganato which was amazing! We were sitting outside and it was cold so we asked a gentleman if we could move inside. He told us to ask the hostess at the front - i was confused because most restaurants will do that for you. Excellent server and chef who was able to work around my food allergies: Filet with linguini Ans added two large shrimp ($5 per shrimp) side of roasted cauliflower ate like a meal. Ample portions which I took home for dinner. Great olive oil. Pricey end of the spectrum, but well executed. I would like to see a business-friendly price fix luncheon option under $35 pp with more modest portions. TIP: bring your appetite and your wallet. Patio seating is a bit cramped and loud due to the proximity to the street. My tab with no alcohol was $79.17 plus tip for lunch I scored a four out of five because the service was very good and the quality was excellent. But I don't think I'd return again anytime soon as it blew my entire expense account budget. read more

Walked in, sat down in their basement level seating... atmosphere was pleasant and my group and I were excited to try the food. Sadly, it wasn't great. Our waitress would show up every 15 or so minutes and say "just checking in" and it was coming off rude or as though she was agitated; whether it be with us for some reason or that day in general... We sat on the patio and enjoyed the sights and the ambience. Have to say -had such a disappointing experience yesterday for brunch. We sat on the enclosed patio. We ordered mimosas. 2 came -1 glass had lipstick. Ordered sparking rose. They brought still. Drink order father in law ordered a Heineken and instead of telling us that all that was available was non-alcoholic she brought it and pretended not to know until something was said. Appetizers ordered three where brought out the fourth one didn't come until we asked where it was almost 30 minutes later. Dishes on table never cleaned up never offer if we wanted refill on soda drinks. She was too busy flirting with another table. We stopped for breakfast because of their BIG breakfast sign. Suprise, only on the weekends. We also didn't realize the restaurant wasn't open yet. No big deal, we were seated in an instant and served water and coffee. My husband and I ordered a cup of crab bisque planning to split a sandwich. It must have been a 20 ounce cup! Delicious doesn't come close. And we were so full, no sandwich was ordered. Next trip to Chicago we will return for sure. read more

We were visiting Chicago for my daughters 21st birthday. We asked our Omni concierge for dinner recommendations on the day of our arrival, December 20, and one was Rosebud. It was a block or so from the hotel so after freshening up off we went. Arrived and got seated for 4 upstairs. Upon entering check out the photos - son is a big Sinatra fan and noticed him right away. Victoria Ann C was our waitress and she was fantastic. On our travels over the years names stick with the kids and Victoria is one we will remember. She was fantastic- wonderful personality and made you feel special. I told her what I like in wine and she said I got you and brought an exact match! The other three in the party got cocktails and were equally pleased. The dinner was wonderful and huge portions. Victoria brought out a special dessert for my daughters birthday. Highly recommend and ask for Victoria! We will when we return! read more

Our party of 5 had reservations for the 4th of July. The service was fine, and the server was accommodating when making adjustments to the different dishes. The food, however, has gone downhill. The waiter brought out a serving tray filled with our plates and set them at the table in front of us and left. He came back a good 5-7 minutes later and delivered our meals. They didn't offer to grate any parmesan, and the food wasn't terribly warm. All and all an ok experience, but definitely not up to the standards it once was. read more

Delicious!! We used to frequent this restaurant all the time back in early 2000's and it was our special place to go. It has not changed much but the food is delicious, service great, and ambiance nice and romantic. We had Mamas Meatball Salad and shared that- I am still wanting more of this, so good but huge!! My husband had a Chilean Sea Bass special with fettuccine Alfredo, I had the Rigatoni Vodka. We were going to have brunch (Saturday) here but there was an hour wait so we went shopping and placed a carry out order later to take back to our hotel. Staff was very nice and helpful. This place is always consistent with great service and food. Centrally located to great shopping on the avenue and can often seat walkups also. In town for the IHA convention and we always try to find something new each time we visit Chicago. Wondering downtown we came across the eye catching sign and despite the wait we sat at the bar while we waited. I'll never get accustomed to 15 mixed drinks but the service from the bartender was great despite zero seats being open. Once seated started with some wine and bread/oil. Bread was fantastic! Appetizers we had king crab and the roasted peppers and sausage. Both were cooked to perfection. I had the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and holy portions! Not to mention the sauce and noodles with perfect chicken. Overall I was highly impressed! After a day on your feet all day this place although moderately noisy it is a bit darker and peaceful. I ordered the eggplant salad and it was delicious - eggplant was perfectly breaded and complemented so well with the arugula, beefsteak tomatoes, mozzarella, and balsamic vinegar. My husband ordered the linguini with clams and again, the dish tasted so fresh. My daughter ordered the cheese ravioli (she is 10yo so it was a good dish for her; she wasn't able to finish the dish, but I tried and they were light and pillowy. We also ordered the tiramisu (after reading reviews); it was light and airy and delectable. So glad we ordered it! All of our offerings were perfect for a late spring dinner. Only wish we had made reservations so we could sit outside. By the time we left the restaurant, the interior had gotten quite loud with guests. read more

We love Italian food; several people referred me to this restaurant and I read the reviews, so my hopes were high, but it was a disappointing experience for my husband and me. We read things about the wonderful ambiance; we had a reservation and were sat outside in the enclosed, temporary patio where the ambiance was not great. Lots of traffic and street noise and harsh lighting. Then, our service was not great at all. I don't know if our waitress was new or just not good, but that was disappointing as well. We were sat and then not acknowledged for about 15 minutes. We were not given a drink menu; had to ask for one. We were given bread without anything to put on it; butter, oil, anything. About 30 minutes after we were sat, our waitress realized that and brought us some oil for the bread. She asked if we wanted some freshly grated Parmesan (I guess for our bread/oil?) and we said sure but she had the hardest time grating the Parmesan and ended up leaving most of it on our table instead of our plates. It was so strange. My husband got the chicken fettucine alfredo and did not like it. He thought it was very bland & said Olive Garden's is better. I got the chicken Parmesan and that was the one redeeming part of this meal; it was outstanding! It is the only reason I'm giving 3 stars. So if you're going to go here (I would not recommend it based on my experience), get the chicken parm. read more

Just went for drinks and appetizers. We sat outside and it was a decent breeze even though it was very hot. It took a good 15-20 mins for the server to actually greet us. The drinks were good and strong, but the fried calamari was somewhat bland. The calamari was a good size, but it just needed a little seasoning. Overall I would come back for dinner. read more

Rosebud is a tradition for my kids when we come to Chicago. They LOVE the giant, delicious desserts and who wouldn't? We recently came into town to celebrate my daughter's birthday. With Covid, I had made my reservation online months in advance to ensure we could dine in while we were in town for the weekend. Well, lo and behold, we show up and this dummy had made the reservation at Carmines down the road. Despite Covid, despite it being reservations only, despite it being a Saturday night, the lovely gentleman running the show fit us in as a party of 5. Amazing customer service, and it made my daughters night! Food was amazing as always. We will be back soon. read more
