Just your average restaurant - cold food and pricey The atmosphere is cool, the decor really sets the tone for the beach. The drinks are good but waters came in these big pitchers, seems like a waste. Great location right in town but overall just average. We did have a big group (10) which they had ample seating for and the place was mostly empty. Our server was really nice and attentive. Most of our food came out cold or room temp which for the price was really disappointing. As someone with a degree in food micro that really scared me with the fish and scallops served not hot. Contrary to other reviews I really enjoyed dining here. We were seated at the open upper deck, beautiful views. Waitress was very nice, had an enjoyable and fun attitude! My visit here ended with the manager giving us 50% off our bill and the waiter saying, "it's not always this bad, please come back." The food was cold, overcooked, and flavorless. They messed up our drinks, three times. They messed up our food order, twice. I orders plain noodles for my son, 2. They brought them out with sauce all over them. I ordered wings, which were bare of meat and flavor. They were hard and crunchy. On the side was dirty celery. My brother got a burger charred. He ordered it medium rare. I had to ask the waiter three times where our drinks were and twice where our food was. The place looks cool with fish hanging everywhere. But so does every place at the beach. "Please come back." It's good! Safe. Not anything crazy special but good for families, kids, groups of adults, etc. The covered rooftop is kind of hard to eat in because the wind is so strong up there even if it's not a windy day but it was nice to have a view of the ocean while we ate. There is an elevator to get upstairs if needed. Not pictured were the fried green tomatoes which we had two years ago when we came for the first time and they're probably the best thing on the menu in my opinion (but also I'm not a huge seafood person). Another time we came this trip someone got rockfish tacos (also not pictured) which they thought was good and the seafood Cobb (not pictured) which the person LOVED and thought they were pretty generous with the helping of seafood. We have been here a couple of times but it does seem like they have a lot of political paraphernalia which is a little strange for a family a restaurant, but it's not anything current so it didn't bother us but still kind of strange. Went by on a sleepy Saturday recently and chose to sit at the bar. Alex introduced himself and served us our beers of choice and complimentary waters. Ordered their Victory style hickory smoked chicken wings and a bowl of Crab Bisque soup. The wings are the bomb and the soup was delish! Next we got their crab tacos. Wow! Food has always been good. Steamed shrimp was perfectly cooked, fried green tomatoes were excellent. Drinks are yummy. Pineapple crush was delish n our server Avery was the best. He talked us into a 2nd drink n we were so happy. His attitude is so friendly n he was perfect. He checked on us plenty n made us want to adopt him. We had thick gooey crab bisque and shared a hummus starter. Neither had much flavor and the hummus was thin and granular but served with nice flatbread crackers and fresh carrots and celery. Stopped in here for lunch. Friends had recommended the Ocean City location. There was some outdoor seating, but the indoor area was open to the outside at the front so we felt safe. Staff were wearing masks correctly. We started with a soft drink and an ice tea, which arrived in small pitchers. I joked with the server about not needing to inquire about free refills given how sizable the drinks were and he assured me refills were free. (We didn't need them and in fact got to-go cups with the remainder of our drinks when we left. We ordered the fried pickle chips as an appetizer. They came in a generous sized bowl. The batter was crispy and not too greasy. Easily among the better fried pickles I've had. My wife got their burger and upgraded to the seasoned waffle fries. I tried a few and they were tasty. She really enjoyed the burger. I got the pulled pork tacos. They were delicious. The pork was tender and not heavily sauced. Underneath the pork was some cole slaw, just enough for a little crunch and not watery at all. There were no dribbles of slaw juice running down as I ate my tacos! Pineapple salsa topped each taco. I really should have read the reviews. Crab soup bland and weired not crap meat. Bada Bing shrimp...bada yuk! It was greasy and texture of the shrimp was weired. It like the shrimp was frozen and defrosted and it got mush!!! Whipsicle was weak and flavorless. So disappointed the aroma that pulled me in was better then the food!!!! It's a touristy family style restaurant set-up to move people in and out so set expectations. We had a large party and they could seat us in under 15min, which was great. However the food - not one person at the table was satisfied with their meal (besides the kids). It's costal style fast food, burgers were thin with one strip of lettuce, and tomato. The corn was soggy with no flavor, lobster was soggy rubber. The crab dip and crab dip burger had no crabmeat. The shrimp were low quality and small. Jerk Chicken got mixed reviews from OK to good (not great). We did like the fred green tomatoes and the kids liked their meal. It took around 30min for our food to arrive after we ordered and the waitress didn't come back to check on us until the end, but we also didn't really need anything besides Ketchup (our bottle was empty), but the neighbor helped us out. My review matches up mostly with what other people have said about this place. We were scrambling to find somewhere to eat on a Saturday night, and everything was booked. We finally stumbled upon this place and got right in. I ordered the seafood bucket. It was pretty good, not the best I've ever had and it was pricey for the little amount of food you got. But.....do not order the crab and shrimp Mac and cheese or the blackened chicken Alfredo. The description for Mac and cheese says smothered in creamy cheddar cheese sauce and the chicken Alfredo says it's in a creamy Alfredo sauce. There is nothing creamy or smothered about either of them. There was literally no cheese sauce on either. The portion size was great but we only ate some of it and threw the rest out. When we told the bartender about how dry both dishes were we were told that it is the way it's supposed to be and that was it. I wouldn't waste my money here again and neither should you! This is one of our favorite spots to visit. - It's Family friendly - Staff is easy to work with - lots to pick from on the menu - Several choices of crushes - Turn around is quick - Access to the beach Just everything is great. By no means, is the food a 10, but it's a great restaurant with the family right by the beach so you can just walk. We usually leave the beach, throw our junk in the car and have lunch here, or a good spot while you're waiting on check in. I'm veg and the lady told me all about the veg pasta. She told me how she's not veg but it's great. I got it, it was different but good. I am noticing how at the beach, there's seafood or meat. They are not targeted at all for veg or people with allegies. So it's nice when a business actually realizes that in this day and age. They were giving out wicky sticks to the kids. Despite the low Yelp ratings, our party of seven decided to give this restaurant a try because of it's proximity to our location. The outdoor play area makes it feel kid friendly, but the overall atmosphere was more of a bar/pub. The upstairs interior dining room felt overwhelmed by the enormous TVs, all of which were tuned to some type of sporting event. If you enjoy watching athletes sweat while you drink a draft, then you'll like it here. Not being a sports fan myself, I could have done without the TVs which only added to the noise pollution. However, any negatives were overshadowed by the positives. The restrooms were clean and stocked with soap, TP, etc. Our server was efficient and friendly. He anticipated our needs and checked back often. The food was delicious. In general, I don't like waffle fries and I don't like seasoned fries. However, Ropewalk's seasoned waffle fries were fabulous! A little crunch on the outside with a soft potato-y center. I had to force myself to stop eating them, and they give you a large portion. The MD crab soup had plenty of crabmeat in it, and one of my dining partners said the crabcake sandwich was very yummy. The burger was declared to be "very good." The kids' pasta serving could have been a little larger considering it was just noodles and marinara. A few more noodles would have made it seem worth the money. I didn't love the crab dip (too thick, not enough crab, lukewarm) nor the crab bisque (too thick, not enough crab, too many veggies), but the shrimp salad sandwich was just what I'd been craving. I give the food AND service a 10/10! Our waiter was so sweet and when I mentioned I wanted a oyster shooter with no vodka just because I've never had one before and just wanted 1 just in case I didn't like it, he took it upon himself to give me 1 singular oyster and red sauce with lemon just for me and I really appreciated it and it reflected on the tip. He did not have to do that and a lot of other places would not just give someone 1 oyster just to try so that's why I would recommend this restaurant because they do care about the customers experience! We had a crab boil to share and it was DELICIOUS!!! Cheese cake was delicious and good for sweet tooth, raspberry sauce was super sweet. We ordered one meal and shared it and was stuffed! I have a sensitive stomach and had no problem here! Prices were reasonable, and to be honest we would've payed more for how good the service and food was. Our experience at the Ropewalk Bethany was TERRIBLE! First to say, I never write reviews. We usually eat at the Ropewalk in Ocean City and it is usually above average. The Bethany Beach location is somewhere I would NOT recommend. To start, our plates were wet and menus were dirty! Our waiter, got multiple orders wrong and disappeared from the table for 20 minutes at a time. We then got our appetizers, we asked ourselves, "Why does the crab dip look like throw up?" and "Why are the chips so stale?". We also got a watery crab soup with rubbery crab meat. We then, sat for another 15 minutes waiting for our food, STILL no server. There is nowhere to put our food because our dirty dishes are still there! We then asked the floor manager if she could take the dirty dishes away so we didn't have to hold our food in our hands and she ROLLED HER EYES!!! The rockfish tacos looked like they had been cooked in a microwave, the chicken tenders were on a bed of soggy limp lettuce, the seafood Mac and cheese was a joke. 28 dollars for "seafood", 4 shrimp and some tiny bits of crab meat. A joke. To top it off, our waiter brought us coke that was clearly out of syrup and they said "oh yeah, I noticed it was a weird color but" To say we will not be coming back is obvious. read more

We were planning on going to Rehobeth but with everybody out and about since They didn't get to do anything last year, it was way too congested; we decided to drive down to Bethany on our quest to get fishers popcorn we also needed lunch. The ropewalk l, I had heard of and seemed inviting so we tried it out knowing that the Ocean City location has very good reviews. Not sure if they are actually a chain of sort but never-the-less we still tried it. Their menu was pretty good we did order the crab eggrolls which were very good and we split a pulled pork and something else. Started off with the crab artichoke and tuna apps for a party of 7. Good food I'd recommend the dip over the tuna. For my entree I got the seafood salad and overall it was strong. My nephew loved the kids pasta. The wife got the Caesar salad topped w a crab cake. This is in no way fine dining but definitely a good spot . We then had the pulled pork and burger for our meals. Both were just average and nothing special that made them stand out. The burger was very basic, only coming with lettuce and tomato. A slice of cheese was $2 which I added. The entrees came with a side of chips, but they just seemed to be cape cod chips, not thing fresh or homemade. The Ropewalk is easy to find. There is table seating close to the sidewalk. The front tables are set in sand and there were families with small children and those kids were digging at the parents' feet. Very cute. We found parking in a nearby Citizens bank lot (kiosk parking). There is metered street parking. Get the ParkMobile App and save yourself time and stress . Kiosks can be difficult to work with. The App is effortless. Bethany Beach was quite crowded with tourists in this area. We went there on a Sunday night. The place was crowded but we were seated right away. (6PM) no reservations. There is dining on the 1st and 2nd floors. The restaurant was open to the sea breezes and not air conditioned. There is an elevator for HDA to the 2nd floor. The menu fare was what you would expect at a family beach restaurant. I had Ahi Tuna, my friends had a bucket of shrimp, a bucket of snow crab legs, stuffed flounder. While we were strolling down Garfield Parkway we noticed a huge boat shaped children's play area surrounded by sand in front of Ropewalk. Of course it was the ideal form of entertainment for our toddler, so we let her go wild while we bellied up to the bar for a beer. The play area was a bit crowded, but there was plenty there to keep her occupied for at least a half an hour while we waited for our table. The food seems to be seafood boil centric here offering boiled shrimp, crab, and crawfish. Unfortunately on the day we visited their boiler broke. Instead we opted for the seared ahi tuna on seaweed salad and the snapper filet with tropical rice. The food was surprisingly good. The seared ahi appetizer was a bit on the small side, but the fish tasted fresh and was only seared very slightly. It came with a bit of aioli on the side which complimented the dish well. The snapper was excellent. It was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. I thought the seasoning was a bit on the salty side, but no complaints as the fish was very enjoyable. They offer quite a few beers on tap and while the Dogfish Head Flesh & Blood IPA wasn't available, I enjoyed the Big Oyster Hammerhead IPA. I had the crab cake and it was Asian crab with lots of filler that tasted like cornmeal. It wasn't any good. My boyfriend had the hamburger which was average at best. Our friend enjoyed the fried crab roll. For the price they should serve an authentic maryland blue crab lump meat crab cake and a decent hamburger.
