Went here for our anniversary dinner. Great little place in Maricopa. The steak was SO delicious it literally melts in your mouth. The crispy potatoes I wasn't a fan of, but my husband's smashed potatoes... I could lick his plate clean. Food was good for me. My wife and mom didn't care too much for it though. Service was okay and ambience was okay.

First the 'cons'. A restaurant of this caliber could stand better napkins and silverware. (I know, petty, right?!) But it was hard to scoop up that delicious sauce with a flat fork. Also, the tea was on the bitter side and I diluted it twice. A place with good food deserves nothing less than a high quality tea like a China Mist. Now for the food, our meals (chicken pot pie & francese) were both very good. Fresh out of the kitchen and very flavorful. The Caesar side salad was one of the best I've ever had. Came here with friends to try it out. It is a little hole in the wall but parking was ok. My wife had the chicken salad and I had the Reuben sandwich. Our friends tried the crispy chicken sandwich with onion rings. Her hubby tried the steak sandwich with fries. Food was ok and service ok. Wife thought salad was a little skimpy. My reuben had the meat cut in cubes instead of shaved slices which I found a little weird. I don't know if we will try it again. read more

Dined here yesterday. The gluten-free bruschetta with ricotta was very good. My vegetarian option, jack fruit tacos was surprisingly delicious and hearty. My husband ordered the beef filet and he mentioned that it was cooked just as he requested. This food was big bun little meat. First time attendance was today at lunch. I'll start with the good. The service was friendly and the staff was efficient. The layout of the restaurant is appropriate for the size building they operate in, felt small but you could move around if needed to with other patrons in there. Now on to the not so good. The prices had me taken back at first glance. They seemed high for what was offered and when the food was served, the prices felt way too high! We ordered three different items to get a feel of the place, you know typical lunch time items that should be easy to cook and serve. We ordered the Steak Sandwich, the Philly and a Bacon Cheeseburger. The steak sandwich steak was cooked right but the portions were tiny. Each side of the sandwich was only half full, leaving half a sandwich of just bread. The Philly is served on a hotdog bun which is a huge bummer and it even appeared small on the little plate it was served on. The bun was half full of shaved beef and veggies, topped with sriracha mayo. I enjoyed the addition of the spicy mayo but without it this Philly would have been extremely boring and bland. The cheeseburger was probably the most disappointing meal. We left with only two bites taken out of the burger. The meat was really thin, had an odd chew to it and served on a very large bun. If someone asks how was our food at Roots I'd say "It was Meh" read more

The only real downside was it's not a huge place and definitely more of a breakfast/lunch feel vs a dinner place. The grilled cheese and the burger were both good, fries were tasty and the spicy ranch went well with the fries. This place is a disorganized hipster hell. First they gave us a table that was sticky. So--no worries--we figured we'd just make our order to go. We ordered an omelette, the chefs creative Benny and the Nutella French toast. The French toast was soggy. The omelette was too salty and overcooked. The Benny was ok. My main problem is that several people who ordered after us, all received their food before us. All of them but one finished their food and left before we got our food. From what I could discern, the people that came in were regulars or friends. Either way, they made a conscientious decision to make four parties breakfast before ours. read more

I am sad that I'm moving out of Maricopa and I just found out about ROOTS. This place is sooo good and they have menu items for us vegetarians. I am picky with food and this place blew me away. I would def come back to try their other items. The jackfruit tacos with jicama are genuinely the best jackfruit tacos I've ever had. You get a nice kick from the jicama with a little spice. Sweet potato tots were made by Jesus himself! It's like he took a break from his job at chic fil a to help out at the Roots kitchen. Oh don't forget the flourless cake! Took me for a ride. Fantastic food, best meal in Maricopa by far. Everything was very good and the quality is just great, we are lucky to have this quality of food in our little city that is primarily fast food venues. I only wish the dining atmosphere was as high end as the food, although it is very nice and clean this type of food warrants white tablecloths and fine dinnerware for sure. We ordered our food pickup so we could enjoy at home for our anniversary. The ordering and pickup process was a breeze! But oh my goodness!!! The food was absolutely incredible, every single piece of food was full of flavor and perfectly cooked! My toddler ate everything on his plate and then some off mine! I know he's never going to eat my cooking again after this ‍ There's been decent and ok restaurant experiences/food her in Maricopa since we moved here but nothing amazing, I always find myself wanting to go out of town for good food.
