I've been craving and looking for good Mexican food ever since my favorite local place closed up shop. The lemonade absolutely pops. The rim is covered in tajin and a lime, and it pairs really well with the effervescent lemonade. Did I mention hand-made? This hit the spot with my craving for sure. The enchiladas with red sauce and birria were good as expected. I do wish the cheese was a bit more traditional- they use mozzarella. But overall, a refreshing modern take on Mexican American cuisine. A great many options to choose from. Very friendly service- the husband ordered mole for his enchiladas and they corrected a small issue quickly without us having to ask. The dining room is comfy, and they have a bar area. Other stops nearby have been somewhat disappointing as of late, but this is a place you definitely should not sleep on. We will certainly be back! read more

Came for breakfast. First of all - the staff was excellent, super friendly and accommodating. This visit was at best mediocre for me. We came here for happy hour previously . Had the nachos with the chicken tinga and was delicious. Had margaritas too and they were also really good. So decided to try breakfast. I'm really disappointed that the experience was not as great this time. First of all ordered coffee and it was lukewarm at best. Told the server and asked about a coffee that comes in the clay cups when she said it was a cinnamon coffee, that sounded good, so I ordered it instead and it came out piping hot, much better. But then my breakfast, the big papa, which looked and tasted good, but it also came out just barely warm. My husband said his was hot and we got them at the same time. Place was pretty busy, regardless though there should be check of the plate to make sure it's plated correctly and it's going out hot. I told the server and they did discount the ticket but honestly I would've rather paid full price and had the food hot, it ruined the experience of going out for breakfast. Really good food ruined by music that's waaaaaay too loud. A live band at dinner is bad enough but there's no reason for such loud piped in music st lunchtime. When will they figure out that people don't want to yell a conversation with their dining companions? Service was ok. We ordered food and cocktails at the same time, but we were halfway through our meals before the drinks arrived. The ice in my margarita was very thawed which told me it was sitting for a long time. I decided to try CMK a try. I went for brunch with my daughter. They have great outdoor seating. When the weather is cooler, I would definitely like to sit outside. Today it's a little toasty, so we decided to sit at the bar inside. They have a DJ today playing a great mix of music from cumbias to 90's hip hop. I just wish the volume was down a hair so you could actually hear the servers. We were greeted immediately by our server/bartender. Our drink orders were taken and we were given menus. We ordered shots, lots of shots.. celebrating my upcoming birthday. The food was amazing. I ordered their avocado toast beef birria tacos... chef's kiss. The shells were perfectly cooked. The meat was flavorful. I honestly was never going to come here, because of how rudely my son were treated at their location on Southern. I wanted to see what Maricopa was getting. The steak was very flavorful and juicy. Stay away from the hot sauce. You will not get free chips and salsa. Get your margaritas from Plaza Bonito. $12 and not a hint of tequila, downed it like water, waste of money on that. We might go back, we haven't decided. What a great addition to Maricopa! I always said if another Mexican restaurant ever opened up in Maricopa, it has to stand out. It has to showcase food not normally prepared here or at the very least prepare typical Mexican dishes in a way that stands out and separates them from their competition. I think this place does this very well! Their menu offerings are indeed different with a twist. They offer menu items not found in the other Mexican restaurants in town like concha's, cafe de Olla, churro French Toast, amazing pancake builds just to name a few. We arrived on a weekend morning; so only the Brunch menu was available. We ordered a Cafe de Olla, Chilaquiles Trio, Dorado Tacos. and a Churro Sundae! Everything was delicious. The Cafe de Olla was a bit too sweet for me. The hot churros and ice cream was the perfect ending to our meal. We enjoyed our meal so much, we came for dinner. We ordered the Molcajete Cielo, Mar y Tiera. It had chorizo, shrimp, Carne asada, grilled chicken, grilled cactus, queso fresco, and salsa ranchera served in a molcajete. The order came with choice of tortillas, rice, and beans. It cost $35.00 and can feed two people easily. This is my favorite menu item so far. It was so good! I can't wait to try their other menu items. They serve Breakfast & Brunch every morning and they also offer Early Bird breakfast items at reduced costs! I came for breakfast and I was met by a very sweet hostess. I was sat quickly and served the best cafecito I've ever had in my life. Cafe de olla with the concha was delectable and disappeared before I knew it. The breakfast molcajete was served piping hot and had a great balance of spicy and savory flavors between the eggs, chorizo, paps, & steak. If my rating was just based on the food, I would have given 5 stars. However, customer service was lacking. We asked for an extra plate since we were sharing the food amongst the 3 of us. The first extra plate was brought over right away, but when we realized we needed another extra plate, we asked another staff member, who didn't bring it until we were almost done with our breakfast. My sister had to go to the bar and ask for the plate since the staff member we had asked hadn't brought it. Coffee was not refilled until we asked. No one had checked on us before then. It appeared that staff were more focused on other customers. It it wasn't for the lack of customer service, I would have given 5 stars. read more

We ordered and as we were waiting for our food when the music got very very loud. We asked could the volume be lowered a little. They said that on Sat. & Sun. mornings a DJ starts playing music at 10:00 a.m. Sorry but we had to leave. We just wanted to have a nice quiet breakfast. Disappointing First Visit We were really excited to try Chilaquiles, the new restaurant that just opened in town. The place looked great when we walked in with the entire family-- clean, modern, nice vibe, and not too busy at all. So we were a little surprised when the host told us there would be a 10-minute wait. We thought, "No problem," and waited inside. Meanwhile, there were at least 5 or 6 open booths inside and maybe 1 couple seated outside. After about 12 minutes, no one came to check in, and we couldn't help but notice the lack of energy or urgency from the staff. Everyone seemed laxed or unhappy to be there, which set a pretty negative tone. In that short time, we watched four other groups leave after their meals (not one person came in). Eventually, we decided to leave. We ended up going to IHOP down the street -- they were busier, had less staff, and still seated us immediately. Here's a little advice for the owner or manager: Be present! A brand-new restaurant can't afford to turn away guests for no reason. It's frustrating to see a non-busy dining room with no leadership or direction. Unfortunately, we probably won't be back -- which is a shame because we live just 3 minutes away. Hopefully, they figure things out soon, but for now, I can't recommend this place. read more

Outtstanding Experience at in Maricopa! We stopped in for breakfast and had an absolutely fantastic experience. Our server and bartender, Liz, went above and beyond--her service was friendly, attentive, and spot-on. From the Bloody Mary to the mimosa flight, every drink was perfectly balanced and beautifully presented. My husband ordered the Chilaquiles Trio, and I had the taquitos--both dishes were outstanding. The food was flavorful, fresh, and clearly made with care. The music, vibe, and ambience were all five-star quality. It was decent. I didn't like my tortillas. Had the molcajete. It wasn't bad but I don't see myself craving their food.

This is a shame. I was astounded by how they took the space they were in and turned it from a dive into a beautiful restaurant. Bravo!! And I'll say up front that the food was very good. They should have refused to "make" iced coffee by pouring coffee over ice, but the food was tasty and enjoyable when we finally got to eat it. The wait staff is the problem. At any restaurant, the experience is what you really go for and the incompetence of the wait staff was truly extraordinary. Our waiter didn't seem to understand much of what we were asking. We had to ask three different people to bring us utensils to eat with. Obtaining butter for the toast was another adventure. My wife and cousin ordered two dishes and specifically asked that one be brought out before the other. The second dish was brought out first. The waiter blamed it on the kitchen. I found that pretty disgusting. He should have taken blame for not conveying our request properly. A "good" waiter would have. While our waiter was taking our order a server elbowed him to ask a question. Rather than remain focused on taking our order he interrupted my wife mid-request. That's not how I'd train a waiter to handle that situation. I grew up understanding that the customer comes first. By the time we harassed the wait staff enough to bring us utensils and condiments the food was less than warm. A very, very disappointing first experience at a new restaurant in a town starved for good restaurants. I guess we'll have to keep waiting. Hopefully, Chilaquiles will eventually get their act together and either train their wait staff better or get better wait staff. Bravo to the kitchen again! read more
