First I'd like to apologize for the late reviews, I got a little behind. We've been here now about 4 or 5 times and I really wanted to like this place because it had awesome reviews and is always recommended on the Facebook groups in town. The reason we keep going back is because they change their menus around periodically and we always see something that sounds good and hope that it will be better than the last time. This is going to be 2 reviews in one. This is just a little place where you order at the counter. I'm not really fond of places that do that because when I go out to eat I like to be waited on. There are not many tables here so it's first come first served. Get there early so you don't have to wait on a table. My first review will be based on the Chicken Marsala. It was 4 of us that trip, my husband and in law's. We all ordered the Chicken Marsala. Each of us thought it was just eh. Ive actually had better chicken Marsala from Brooklyn Boys. I was the only one to order dessert as I love crème brûlée and can never pass it up. Neither my husband nor I really cared for it, it was just ok. I would never get it again from here. The last time we went it was just my husband and I and we went the Friday after Christmas I believe it was. We went this time because my husband saw they had Beef Wellington and that's his favorite. He said it was really good and he liked it better than the one he had at Gordon Ramsey Steak house. I took a small bite and immediately had to spit it out, I thought it was awful. I guess you just have to have a taste for it ‍. I have had Beef Wellington before but it's been awhile and I liked it. I had the chicken pot pie. The flavor was just ok. I'm really embarrassed to say I like Marie Calendar's frozen pot pies better. The top crust was good but there was no bottom or side crust like you'd find in regular pot pies. That was a downfall in my opinion. (But it's just my opinion). I'm sure we'll go back again if something else sparks our interest. I just hope it will be better than the other times we've went. read more

I have been to Roots in Maricopa 3 times now since it was discovered by my wife and I. She had butternut squash ravioli, and I am not a ravioli or squash appreciator, but that was so yummy. We are not appetizer people lovers either, I can count on one hand how many times I have ordered appetizers, and 3 of them are here, we had the crab cakes each time amazing. I had the Mahi mahi the fish so good they named it twice with delicious smashed potatoes and asparagus, and it was so delicious I loved the flavor. The next time I got the filet with smashed potatoes and sauteed mushrooms, again it did not disappoint. My wife had the chicken marsala with asparagus and smashed potatoes, and again was amazing. Needless to say we have yet to be disappointed at this place, Tyler is an amazing server. read more

Loved this place! Cozy, cute and the food was awesome! The person who took my order over the phone was super attentive and even remembered that I was just popping in to get my burger and needed to get back to my Open House! He even asked me how it was going when I get to the restaurant and had everything ready! Highly recommend Roots when you're in The Copa! read more

Damn good side of fries. Solid burger. They asked me if I wanted it cooked medium and by golly true to their word it came out medium- that's more than what I can say about some "high-end" steakhouses. I'll be back to Eat at Roots. read more

Doesn't look like much from the outside, but when you walk in, there is welcoming modern farmhouse style vibe and friendly workers. I had the French toast and my significant other had the burger. Both were very tasty and the burger came with the best fries in Copa. Definitely worth checking this place out, if you live here. read more

Stopped by Roots Eatery and was thoroughly impressed. Inside was very nice. Staff and service were great. I tried the special of the day, which was a braised beef grilled cheese with bacon and green chiles. It was served with fries. The outside of the sandwich also had a layer of fried cheese. Very good experience. I suspect these guys will expand to a larger space once their lease is up. Congrats to the ownership and staff. Roots Eatery is a gem to the town of Maricopa. Very limited menu, I was served rare pork ( I verified I wanted it well done) and sent it back to cook longer. It came back again and was still rare. The Manager did give us a coupon for a return visit but only for the cost of my dinner. A refund would have been the right thing to do. There is always some issue when I have been there. I just ate the best meal I've had in awhile in Maricopa maybe ever! I ordered the 6 oz filet med well. It was so tender I cut it with a plastic knife. The mustard sauce was so good I actually drank a little. The asparagus and smashed potatoes everything you want with an amazing steak. I also got the crab cakes which were so good with crispy bacon on top. Trust me you want this. And to end it all I had the banana pudding. All I'm going to say to yes order it all. Absolutely love Roots, this restaurant is a staple of the Maricopa community. The staff treats you as if you are family, the food is down home goodness. I am never disappointed when we eat here. Went here for our anniversary dinner. Great little place in Maricopa. The steak was SO delicious it literally melts in your mouth. The crispy potatoes I wasn't a fan of, but my husband's smashed potatoes... I could lick his plate clean. Came here with friends to try it out. It is a little hole in the wall but parking was ok. My wife had the chicken salad and I had the Reuben sandwich. Our friends tried the crispy chicken sandwich with onion rings. Her hubby tried the steak sandwich with fries. Food was ok and service ok. Wife thought salad was a little skimpy. My reuben had the meat cut in cubes instead of shaved slices which I found a little weird. I don't know if we will try it again. read more

First the 'cons'. A restaurant of this caliber could stand better napkins and silverware. (I know, petty, right?!) But it was hard to scoop up that delicious sauce with a flat fork. Also, the tea was on the bitter side and I diluted it twice. A place with good food deserves nothing less than a high quality tea like a China Mist. Now for the food, our meals (chicken pot pie & francese) were both very good. Fresh out of the kitchen and very flavorful. The Caesar side salad was one of the best I've ever had. This place is too small! It's so good, the service is terrific. It should be a large venue. Everyone go there and we'll make it so!
