I went in for brunch on a tuesday morning and this place was packed! The gentleman that helped us was the owner I believe, even though it was busy and he was helping all the tables he kept on top of it. Food was really good, my iced caramel latte was delicious too. Food, service and ambience were excellent. We were in town for a few days and tried this restaurant as they had great reviews. I now see why. My husband had the crab cakes and they were delicious. I ordered the Jose jalapeño sandwich with fries which were the best I have had they do not skimp on the beef. The flavor of both our meals were top notch. I highly recommend Roots eatery. We arrived just at the precise time as it got packed within 15 minutes of our arrival. I wish I had taken pictures of our meal. I will visit this establishment every time I visit Maricopa. read more

First I'd like to apologize for the late reviews, I got a little behind. We've been here now about 4 or 5 times and I really wanted to like this place because it had awesome reviews and is always recommended on the Facebook groups in town. The reason we keep going back is because they change their menus around periodically and we always see something that sounds good and hope that it will be better than the last time. This is going to be 2 reviews in one. This is just a little place where you order at the counter. I'm not really fond of places that do that because when I go out to eat I like to be waited on. There are not many tables here so it's first come first served. Get there early so you don't have to wait on a table. My first review will be based on the Chicken Marsala. It was 4 of us that trip, my husband and in law's. We all ordered the Chicken Marsala. Each of us thought it was just eh. Ive actually had better chicken Marsala from Brooklyn Boys. I was the only one to order dessert as I love crème brûlée and can never pass it up. Neither my husband nor I really cared for it, it was just ok. I would never get it again from here. The last time we went it was just my husband and I and we went the Friday after Christmas I believe it was. We went this time because my husband saw they had Beef Wellington and that's his favorite. He said it was really good and he liked it better than the one he had at Gordon Ramsey Steak house. I took a small bite and immediately had to spit it out, I thought it was awful. I guess you just have to have a taste for it ‍. I have had Beef Wellington before but it's been awhile and I liked it. I had the chicken pot pie. The flavor was just ok. I'm really embarrassed to say I like Marie Calendar's frozen pot pies better. The top crust was good but there was no bottom or side crust like you'd find in regular pot pies. That was a downfall in my opinion. (But it's just my opinion). I'm sure we'll go back again if something else sparks our interest. I just hope it will be better than the other times we've went. read more

This is by far the best restaurant in Maricopa. Prices are reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. Brunch is excellent, although I wish they had more well rounded options. I have never been disappointed in anything I've ordered here. Everything that is cooked tastes high quality with good ingredients, even the "basic" selections like Philly cheesesteak or chicken parmesan has small thoughtful ingredients that make it stand out from any other Philly or chicken you've had. I feel like they try to impress their customers with everything they serve, excellent work by the chef and staff here. Hopefully they'll expand one day. read more

Feb 6th 2025, 8am, My visit to Roots Restaurant here in the city of Maricopa, Az. Chef / Owner Chris Spear continues to think out of the box with new and exciting new offerings. I popped in for a quick breakfast and had the French Toast, of course with fresh strawberries, whipped cream and some of his blended coffee, with a tableside coffee press, so very good. But one of the wonderful things is this Chef/Owner comes by the table for a chat and shares coming attractions like, his Valentines specials. The atmosphere and offerings continue to remind me of comfort food, family, and friends. If I could give it no stars I would. The food was disgusting. The mac n cheese tasted like it was made with nacho cheese. I was given a raw oily cookie and when we questioned it they said that's how their cookies are. We were told our food would be ready for pick up in 15 minutes. Showed up after 20 minutes and still had to sit and wait for another 20 minutes. The inside reeked of cigarettes. Do not waste your money or time. read more

Damn good side of fries. Solid burger. They asked me if I wanted it cooked medium and by golly true to their word it came out medium- that's more than what I can say about some "high-end" steakhouses. I'll be back to Eat at Roots. read more

I have been to Roots in Maricopa 3 times now since it was discovered by my wife and I. She had butternut squash ravioli, and I am not a ravioli or squash appreciator, but that was so yummy. We are not appetizer people lovers either, I can count on one hand how many times I have ordered appetizers, and 3 of them are here, we had the crab cakes each time amazing. I had the Mahi mahi the fish so good they named it twice with delicious smashed potatoes and asparagus, and it was so delicious I loved the flavor. The next time I got the filet with smashed potatoes and sauteed mushrooms, again it did not disappoint. My wife had the chicken marsala with asparagus and smashed potatoes, and again was amazing. Needless to say we have yet to be disappointed at this place, Tyler is an amazing server. read more

Doesn't look like much from the outside, but when you walk in, there is welcoming modern farmhouse style vibe and friendly workers. I had the French toast and my significant other had the burger. Both were very tasty and the burger came with the best fries in Copa. Definitely worth checking this place out, if you live here. read more

Stopped by Roots Eatery and was thoroughly impressed. Inside was very nice. Staff and service were great. I tried the special of the day, which was a braised beef grilled cheese with bacon and green chiles. It was served with fries. The outside of the sandwich also had a layer of fried cheese. Very good experience. I suspect these guys will expand to a larger space once their lease is up. Congrats to the ownership and staff. Roots Eatery is a gem to the town of Maricopa. I just ate the best meal I've had in awhile in Maricopa maybe ever! I ordered the 6 oz filet med well. It was so tender I cut it with a plastic knife. The mustard sauce was so good I actually drank a little. The asparagus and smashed potatoes everything you want with an amazing steak. I also got the crab cakes which were so good with crispy bacon on top. Trust me you want this. And to end it all I had the banana pudding. All I'm going to say to yes order it all. Very limited menu, I was served rare pork ( I verified I wanted it well done) and sent it back to cook longer. It came back again and was still rare. The Manager did give us a coupon for a return visit but only for the cost of my dinner. A refund would have been the right thing to do. There is always some issue when I have been there.
