Good evening Scott. Long time patron of you last venture and many of its locations. First and second time visiting a Roots Burger Bar. I was in this location for its first Monday open last week for lunch and came in tonight the 2nd Monday for dinner. I have never been one to pull punches when it comes to reviews so I'll give my honest feedback. Let's start with hours. It is great to see this location open on Mondays now for the wing special. That being said, Yelp still lists it as closed, I sent an update request to them. As I mentioned I came in last week for lunch and was seated rapidly and served with the same expedience. This can be said for tonight as well. A friendly greeting and seated within one minute due to no wait, and given that fresh popcorn to start the meal off with was a nice touch. But the first time we tried coming in was a Friday evening around 7pm. I bet you can guess, we didn't stick around with a crowd packed in and a wait outside the door. This is a good thing for you and hopefully you can keep the doors open having a smaller square footage than some of the massive buildings of years ago, but as soon as a neighboring business moves or closes, we gotta take a wall down to expand, lol. The servers I have had were both friendly, quick with suggestions and refills and attentive. When I find a place I like to frequent I typically find a usual for my server and ask for them by name. I'm hoping this becomes true for Roots as well. I still talk to our Southport previous business waitress. Hannah was the best, knew our drink order and food orders typically. You have some good servers and staff. This brings us to the food. Each visit we did the wing special. The first visit was boneless wings for me with sauce on the side and boneless with sauce on them for the wife as well as a side of onion rings. The boneless were about the same quality as B-dubs but overcooked a bit. Need to bring in hand dipped fresh not frozen to really make these great. The saucing skills as mentioned by someone in a previous review was lacking quite a bit. Thankfully as the server was placing it to the table, he saw how little sauce was on my wife's wings and brought her more sauce right away. The onion rings could be better as well, perhaps fresh hand battered would do wonders, but ok for bar food. Tonight I chose to go the bone-in route, sauce on the side. The wings were cooked perfectly and having BOGO was nice especially with how wing prices had been lately. These are not the type of wings I enjoy though. I prefer a battered wing like the old place used to have. So much better in my opinion. But again this is an opinion, I'm sure many prefer the quick fried like this in some good sauce just not me. They were good quality just not my taste so no fault to the food. It would be great to see a few more sauces come to town, perhaps a Garlic Parmesan and a Sriracha Honey would be wonderful additions. Tonight I chose the tots, which were cooked perfectly came out hot and tasty. I will be back to enjoy this establishment more, perhaps for taco night or hot dog night. I hope to enjoy a burger next time. I sure miss a certain peanut butter jalapeño burger. read more

First time here and I had the best burger! The sloppy jalopy was amazing with so many good flavors! They offer a good selection of sides to accompany your meal-my tomato cucumber choice was overwhelmed by the onion chunks in it. Hubs loved his burger with mushrooms, horseradish sauce and carmelized onions. The kids meal was a generous portion. Another devoured the peanut butter and jalapeño burger. All the burger buns were branded with an R. Fun touch. Really enjoyed this place as did many other soccer families we noticed! Close to fields. read more

4 of us stopped in after a round of golf We found it to be very busy - yet service was timely, accurate and friendly provided by Abigayle. I had the October monthly special - the BOM Double. It was juicy and satisfying- maybe too big for me. I also had excellent fries and an Octoberfest pint. A bit noisy for conversation but satisfactory food and drink. read more

Went to lunch with my mom and aunt and we had such a great time. Diona was our server. She was so kind, personable, and very informed on the menu. THE BEST BURGERS!! I am sad I have never actually been inside this restaurant we have only ordered it via delivery. The burgers are so good and fresh even being delivered I can only imagine how good it would be in the restaurant. The jalapeño popper burger is amazing. Arrived at the business to see a sign on the door stating they would close early about an hour and a half early. Staff was not welcoming and seemed annoyed we walked in. Not one person greeted and acknowledged us with a smile. The food was good but the customer service was terrible! I'm sure the owner would not approve. You all should know better and be ashamed of your piss poor attitudes towards customers. Is it because we were black? In this current climate of things you should be aware how you make customers especially people of color feel. You are in the service industry! The last time I went here I ordered fish and fries. The fries were good but the cod was worse than any I ever had. The manager contacted me on here but when I went back to him he did not reply. Today we decided to try again. Sad to see the atmosphere was not good, though the burger was great, however the fries must have been made at lunch time and it's now 2.30pm for they were so stale! It's a great local pub for good food and drinks. Service is excellent. The place is pretty small so if you going with a large crowd (more than 6) think twice but they will do what they can to accommodate. It's our go to when we want a burger. read more

I used to go here ounce a week because of the service and food, the last 3 times I visited were not good, I was sat at a table for 10 minutes with no approach, they were blaring country music, so I left and will not be coming back, shame really. read more

Who knew such a place could exist in a strip mall? My boyfriend and I came on a Saturday and this place was busy! Upon walking in we immediately loved the vibe. They have multiple big screen TVs for sports and a popcorn machine. How cool is that? Both their food and bar menus are extensive. They have a great list of local craft draft beer as well as 4 frose slushies on tap. We didn't try any slushies but they looked delicious! We opted for 2 local craft beers instead. For food, I'm vegetarian so I ordered the cauliflower wings. They're breaded, deep fried, and deliciously drenched in Buffalo. I'd definitely get them again. My boyfriend got the southern pride burger with tots. Their burgers can be made with 1, 2, or 3 patties. He said the burger was messy as expected but good. However, the tots were just alright. Overall, great spot to grab a drink and enjoy a game. read more

Okay okay okay I agree with some of the negative comments about them missing the minor details of orders. It literally just happened to me as well. In saying that I thought the burger and other food I received were great! The woman behind the bar was amazing and very friendly. The burger was cooked to my liking as well as the sides and everything else. The minor details that were forgotten was cheese on a coney dog and that was it. I can easily sacrifice that for an amazing meal overall! I would recommend hands down to anyone to give this place a shot read more

Disappointing to say but the roots in Muncie has much better service. This roots location is slow and still don't have their things together. My family dined in and spent over 45 min waiting for an update on their food. Recently we went back for takeout and they were late by over 20 min. We only got 1 thing too.... It's a shame because the one in Muncie is pretty damn good. read more

Smash burgers and tots are great. Head over at lunchtime on a weekday and grab a sandwich, side, and drink for just $9.99. Highly recommend.

Three visits now. Unfortunately, the food has been lackluster... I sincerely hoped this location might be a return to the glory days of Scotty's Brewhouse (same owner I believe) but that's not the case. The good news is it seems to be well attended in certain evenings. I'm guessing it's because this particular area is a "food desert" in Carmel (relatively speaking). I just can't justify the prices for the quality and I'm less than a mile away. I hope it works out for the sake of the ownership and the surrounding community but my taste buds are telling me the opposite. read more

Let's go with 3 stars... mainly because we were seated but we're never served. It wasn't very busy (rainy and closer to 8) but I made eye contact with 3 of the servers, looked at the bartender, who didn't want to serve us either. If someone would acknowledge that we were sitting there, and they'd be right with us, it would've made such a difference. Unfortunately, when you watch multiple servers walk by and have nothing to say, no waters brought, and literally seated in the middle of the room, I guess an average rating is generous. We waited for about 15 minutes with absolutely no one interested in serving us. I rarely write negative reviews and a lot of friends recommended this for kids and families, so it was pretty disappointing and noticeable that they were not interested in serving our family of 4. My husband was pretty bummed, but unsure if we will return. If I want to be ignored, maybe. read more
