Finally made the drive out to Rancho del Oro to try out Roostr Yard. I had the Southwest Quinoa Bowl which comes with the Herb Lemon sauce by default. It was delicious and hearty. Definitely plenty of food. I also ordered the Brussel Sprout Croutons and I gotta say that they were exceptional. Pricing is a bit on the higher side but when you're getting fresh and delicious food, it's worth it. I'd like to go back and try one of their chicken meals.

When it comes to chicken, Oceanside has been lacking in a solid establishment dedicated to the art of poultry. Now we have Roostr Yard! Roostr Yard is Oceanside's premier restaurant that offers a safe haven for chicken lovers in the city. Even more, their preparation process is healthier than other chicken establishments. To be clear, Roostr Yard is NOT your typical trendy "hot chicken" establishment. Instead, their preparation involves a 24-hour brining process and then the chicken is grilled to perfection. This process leaves the inside tender & juicy, with the outside crispy & flavorful. Their location is centrally located off of Oceanside Blvd & they're across from the new Frontwave Arena. They have a spacious interior, with plenty of seating for families & groups and they also have covered patio seating outside. I also appreciate that they have mural artwork & decor that honors the landmarks of Oceanside. Although they have parking spaces up front, they share the lot with neighboring businesses, which can sometimes mean parking further down from them. I love their dark meat chicken cuts and also a side plate coconut curry lime rice, and I recommend their wraps, salads or sandwiches that come on a ciabatta. They also now offer protein bowls, which are perfect for my weightlifting goals. Overall, I truly feel that Roostr Yard is a breath of fresh air from the typical trendy chicken spots and I love that I now have an healthier option in them.

Fast, efficient and timely. The coconut lime rice is a good sized portion. There were 3 of us and we probably would've been good with the one order that comes with the Whole Chicken Platter. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. From what I understand this is a fairly new restaurant. Wishing them much success as it would be nice to have one closer to our home. Still worth the 30 min drive to try it. Hopefully they'll later have one closer to UTC. Next visit may be a detour from an LA drive. Otherwise, if you're in the Camp Pendleton/North County area, it's worth checking out

The chicken itself was incredibly well cooked. Some of the sauces were a little oily for my preference, my favorite was the mango lime. The coconut curry rice was a little sweeter than I expected but goes really well with some of the spicier sauces. We actually got the half chicken plate and it was more than enough for two people. It also came with rice and garlic bread. The staff was polite and we went around early dinner time, the seating is not huge but we were not there during a rush so there were a lot of options. They are in a fairly new shopping center and I had seen them a few times and finally decided to try it, definitely worth it!

The flavors were dynamic and that is what gains the stars in this place. I loved the chicken sandwich with the mango dressing as it gave both a tangy and sweet taste to the chicken. The chicken was not dry as many places give sandwiches that are grilled and just a dry chicken breast. Overall the other dishes seemed flavorful as my co-workers got coconut chicken and rice and also a salad. The one thing I really wanted to try was the elote Mac n cheese and that was heavy. It was more thicker than I thought and the elote seasoning was there but I was left wanting a more lighter and not as thick cheese. We ordered to food as delivery and I will say that the food came hot and ready despite the travel.

We took the team to Oceanside for a soccer tournament, and with a squad of ravenous players to feed, we hit the jackpot at the new shopping center near the Soccer Park, brimming with diverse dining options. After some debate, we chose Roostr Yard--because who doesn't love chicken? It was a golden find! The kids' menu Coconut Rice with shredded chicken was an absolute delight, bursting with flavors so sweet it felt like indulging in candy. They need to make this a full-sized adult dish! The chicken sandwich came on a perfectly proportioned bun, packed with juicy, expertly grilled chicken slices. And the Mango Chicken Salad? A vibrant throwback to a beloved salad from Los Angeles' Jack N Jill's, now sadly closed. My only gripe was the lack of Coke--stuck with Pepsi (not my favorite)! Still, Roostr Yard is a must-visit for chicken enthusiasts in Oceanside. Highly recommend!

We came here for dinner on a Saturday evening. There was plenty of parking at the Arroyo Verde Shopping Center (new area). We ordered the boneless place which has two chicken breast plate (no sauce since they marinate it in their own brine and I wanted to try other sauces and not just one) for $14.50, Yard fries (seasoned fries) $4, and a chicken sandwich $14.50. The boneless plate was a bit burnt and dry around the ended, yet it had pretty good flavor inside of it. I was able to try out their various sauces. A plate with two pieces of chicken for $14.50 didn't feel like it was worth it. The fries were flavorful yet served on a small plate. I tasted my husband's chicken sandwich and it was pretty good. Good flavor and the sandwich was evenly balanced, but $14.50 is a bit pricey for a sandwich. If we were to return, I think I would try the 1/4 chicken plate to see if the chicken thigh would be less dry or a salad. The place is a nice quick serve dining with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

Roostr Yard is finally open!! They have everything chicken. Chicken plates, salads with chicken, sandwiches & wraps with chicken, sides and chicken platters. Their take to chicken is a fresh, healthy concept - so you won't find anything fried here! Their chicken is fresh and brined overnight, so any piece you have is super moist and juicy (yes, even the chicken breast - which we all know can sometimes be dry).. We tried: * Coconut curry lime rice. This is my favorite! It's made with sticky rice and so fresh! We heard they sold out on Day 2, and we can clearly see why. I could have it everyday! * Garlic bread is on ciabatta bread and delicious! The garlic is spot on. Subtle and just enough. * Fries are always a good option with kids * 1/2 chicken. Super moist and so fresh. It's good the way it is, but if you want the sauce to compliment it, you have a few options. The staff here is friendly and all smiles. They helped answer all of our questions, and are so personable. An area of opportunity for dining in, is with the sauces on the tables. The sauces are thick and the spout for the containers make it hard to pour out so it gets clogged. We could see everyone, ourselves included - constantly shaking the bottles to get the sauce out. The containers are suitable for oils. We shared this with one of the managers (i think who may have been one of the owners), and he was really open minded about looking into it - which is great! We also couldn't figure out what their hours are, so it'd be a great idea to post that outside the store and (of course) update your yelp profile to include that. Hours. 11AM - 9PM Everyday It's so lovely to see all these healthy options open up in O'side! We'll be back Roostr Yard!! Ps - LOVE that they're open til 9PM on Sundays, when most places around here tend to close much earlier.

This place just opened up not too long ago and I wanted to try it out! I got the 1/4 chicken plate with the thigh/leg and coconut curry lime rice. The chicken was nice and moist. Oh, and I chose the mango lime sauce! Yum Not dry at all! It was tasty. If you want to try other sauces, they had them on the table! The coconut curry lime rice, though, was not what I hoped it would be. It was too mushy for my liking, so the manager gave me fries. ;-) I will definitely be back to try their other items!

I've been wanting to try Roostr Yard for a while now, but I'm old and have a bad memory. I always seem to remember on Fridays when I order from Door Dash and of course I remember during Lent. Chicken on a Friday.... Out. Well I finally remembered this past Friday! I ordered the wings with the herb lemon sauce and some black bean hummus. The wings.... I mean what kind of wings are these? Turkey wings... because they are huge! Not that I'm complaining because really.... Who complains about getting too much food when you order? They were grilled and delicious! The sauce was a little strong and I know this sounds dumb to say, but a little TOO lemon'ish. Not complaining about that either because I know it's a matter of taste. The black bean hummus was also very lemon'ish but was really good! Nice texture and the little buttered bread tips was perfect! I think next time I will try the wings without sauce because the grilled flavor alone was really tasty.

We've tried a variety of entrees here but always go back to the 1/2 chicken (sauce on the side) & Asian Chicken salad (no sauce on the chicken) as a combo for two. We are light eaters so that's more than enough. If you are hungry then add their unique Mac& cheese, it's got a little spice to it. Please note that the menu photos prices have risen a bit. Asian chicken salad is $15 now; 1/2 chicken is $14.50. You can use Local/Toast to place a mobile order & review their menu. Service is friendly and food is serve fairly quickly but it's not fast food as it's freshly prepared. The restaurant is casual with booths & tables and a nice covered, fenced-in patio if you want to bring a four-legged pal.

Very good bowl and food. Service was quick and friendly. They were also not super busy when I went around 1pm. I ordered my bowl without and dressings or sauces and the woman who took my order was very polite and kind and accommodated my requests. Most importantly, the chicken breast in my bowl was beautifully seasoned, juicy, warm, and delicious. Overall, great lunch spot!

One of our "eat-out nights," I decided to use Yelp to help us find a local restaurant. We picked Roostr Yard in Oceanside, located in an area with several chain restaurants. We ordered the mango chicken salad, which looked healthy to us. The chicken (I'm not sure if it was antibiotic-free, organic, or free-range) and the greens were fresh, though again, I'm not sure if they were organic. That's something I'll need to follow up on if we go there again. The place offers a wide variety of sauces, but we don't use them since they're generally not too healthy. We may go back if we confirm that the food items are indeed healthy and safe to eat. The ambiance you will find just like McDonald's. It is definitely not a romantic place to eat. read more

Huge thank you to the owner for responding to my first review and sending me a gift card with suggestions of things to try. That gesture alone made me want to give this place another shot, and I'm so glad I did. This time everything hit the mark. The fries were perfectly crispy and seasoned, the wings with red pepper sauce were packed with flavor, and my husband devoured the half chicken plate even though I ordered it a little too spicy. This place has potential! What follows is largely feedback for improving the customer experience. 1) sauces: The olive oil bottles don't work well for the thick sauces, consider swapping them for something that flows better. Get a ketchup pump and ditch the packets, we felt so wasteful ripping open so many little plastic satchels. 2) chicken kale salad, this somehow felt like a bowl of ingredients instead of a salad. It needs more ingredients, maybe quinoa? And maybe toss the dressing instead of on the side unless requested like that. 3) patio is lovely, thank for having outdoor dining! read more

If you are not going to eat it right away recommend getting the sauce on the side to keep the skin crispy. Mac n Cheese and Coconut Curry were great but cold upon arrival after 5 minute drive. Fries were crispy, but ordinary, so 4/5 - solid choice. Will be back. Good option for meal prep without the sides and sauce on the side. Service was polite and attentive. Arrived early but they came out to nicely let me know they open at 11 which was in a few minutes. Ordered the chicken sandwich on ciabatta. I got it without sauce so I could try the 4 at the table but I missed the Mango lime. I enjoyed that sandwich as it was unique and fresh and delicious. The breast was cooked perfectly and the toppings complimented it. Coconut curry rice was delicious albeit a little sweet. I will return to try some other things on the menu. I typically love garlic and garlic sauce but glad I didn't drench my sandwich with this one as it was a bit tangy. read more

We got the two breast plate. The chicken was dry and bland. We tried the sauces. They were salty & overpowering, not complimentary to the chicken. The rice was sweet & different. Really amazing very unique flavor. I have already been back with two times every time I am pleasantly surprised by a new side or a different way to have chicken. The sandwiches are amazing. The bone in chicken is the best. The grilled chicken is the healthier option. still really good and the mac & cheese is really good. The staff is generous and kind and the atmosphere is a place that I would never be disappointed. I have yet to try the carrot cake. Sounds like I'm coming back soon. read more

This was SO SO SO delicious! We came on opening day for lunch around noon and ordered to go. It only took maybe 7-10 minutes to get our food (not long at all!) and the person who brought our food out apologized for the wait (even though I don't think there was a need to at all). Everything was packaged neatly! We ordered the chipotle crunch chicken and the lake chicken Cesar wrap and a side of the elote Mac and cheese. Everything was incredibly flavorful, textures all correct. The wrap and sandwich is some of the best we've had and we'll definitely be back (and the elote Mac was also flavorful with a kick but not too much spice in our opinion - maybe spicy for others- and something we thoroughly enjoyed). Can't wait to eat another meal here soon! read more

We have been anticipating for this spot to open, and it was so worth the wait. Loved the vibe as soon as you walked in, you were greeted with a smile and welcomed. There was plenty of seating indoors and outside on their patio and we liked the space. The bottles of their house made sauces was a nice touch to each table. We tried a little bit of everything on their menu. The chicken we were skeptical from past experiences at other spots but NO, they did this justice! 10/10 on their grilled 1/2 chicken plate. It was juicy, succulent and packed with flavor. We added their herbed lemon sauce that paired to good with it. The chicken came with a side if their Coconut Curry Lime Rice that was flavorful and fluffy. 10/10 on their Elote Mac - we devoured it. It was creamy, cheesy and the pasta was cooked perfectly! Loaded Fries was another favorite, my son loved the big chunks of their pulled grilled chicken and the yard sauce on top of their addicting fries. Finally their enormous Chipotle Crunch Chicken Sandwich. This was loaded with flavors and textures we enjoyed. It was big enough to split between 2 people. Loved the bits of tortilla strips for the added crunch and the greens for freshness. They were very generous on the pulled chicken that rested on their toasted chiabatta garlic bread. We added a side of the fries, and those alone were so good! Loved their seasoning on it. Overall a great experience and service. Its a nice addition to the other businesses in the plaza and you won't be disappointed with anything you get on their menu. read more

I ordered from here for the first time tonight after seeing the good reviews. I got the quarter chicken (dark meat) with mango lime sauce (mild) and a small side of coconut curry rice. Omg, it was so good. The chicken was perfectly cooked with crispy skin and moist meat. The coconut curry rice was so very tasty! I ate most of it but am looking forward to a few bites of leftovers tomorrow. read more

Got the half chicken plate with the herb lemon sauce and the coconut curry lime rice. The chicken was moist and cooked well, sauce wasn't bad either! Next time I'd ask for it on the side. Coconut rice was ok... a little too sweet for my liking. Missing the lime flavor... and some salt. In my opinion! To get more sauces on the side.... It's impossible and just annoying. Please put them in a squeeze bottles and get rid of the oil dispensers. read more

History

Established in 2025.

A few summers ago, in a backyard far far away… there were three friends ready to grill some food and sink some cold beverages, and one says to the other “how do you want to cook the chicken?”. This sounds like the setup to a cheesy joke, except instead of a punchline, what followed was a several-hour long debate that went into the night about how to perfectly grill chicken, and what sauce goes best with it. The next morning, there was still no clear answer. After several weeks of tasting, chopping, sauteing, seasoning, simmering, and of course grilling, all three friends finally agreed on one thing: they agreed on one method of cooking but could not settle on the sauce. So, they decided to make a grilled chicken kitchen where they could offer all three condiments! Thus was born Roostr Yard. Our aim is simple – to give you summer vibes on a plate, all year long!

Tried out our new local chicken spot recently Roost Yard, and I'm seriously impressed. Their grilled chicken is top-notch, juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. They offer five different flavor options, so there's something for everyone. I sampled the Herb Lemon and Garlic flavors. The Herb Lemon was mild but had a really fresh, zesty flavor that stood out. The Garlic, though, stole the show with just the right amount of kick and packed with savory goodness. It quickly became my favorite. I ordered a platter and brought it to share with my team at work and everyone loved it. The chicken didn't last long, and there were lots of compliments flying around. Service was good, price was reasonable but not cheap. But I enjoyed the food that I got. I had the classic chicken bites with french fries. The selection of dipping sauces was fantastic. All in all a good experience and I will return anytime I'm in the area
