    Very bland, little to no lamb meat in it compared to the portion of pasta. I had a high hope but got very disappointed.

    I liked the atmosphere at Roost! There was a comfortable vibe and I loved the hand wipes given. However, the food was subpar. The porkchop was hard to cut through but the glaze had a nice touch to it. I think the bread service is unique and the pretzel itself was good! The pasta was nothing special, it did not taste like much and tasted like a mix of ingredients that didn't fit in well. Our server was lovely and took care of all our needs! Overall, 5/10.

    Roost is such a special space. I joined the girls for our recurring girl date, and I'm so glad we chose this spot. Cozy, unpretentious, and boasting dim warm light, this spot feels incredibly intimate! The menu is revised every few weeks, inspired by local availability of farm fresh seasonal ingredients. We noticed influences from India and Asia throughout the menu, and amongst other things, it was a refreshing change for those who struggle in choosing an entree (ie. me) From the Eat Drink HTX menu, we indulged in a handful of offerings (and added others). Starting with bread service, we knew we were in for a treat. While I've never received a pretzel for bread service, we were given a forewarning, and the pretzel was delicious! Among the butter options was a delicious pimento, honey miso, and sun dried tomato. The pimento was ample and delicious. Maybe it's because I'm a beer cheese pretzel girl, but this one was by far the favorite. We followed bread service with their famous cauliflower and the calamari salad. The calamari salad was the popular option at my table, but I appreciate the cauliflower. It was neither battered nor hard fried, but treated tenderly and sauced well. The yogurt fish was grouper. A thicker cut, this is for a fish lover, not a first time seafood enthusiast! We tried both the Dubai chocolate cake and coffee and donuts. The donuts were dense but warm and flavorful. The coffee ice cream was a great compliment. The Dubai chocolate cake was not what we expected. The slice of chocolate cake was lovely, but I really can't comment any further than that since a member of our party had a tree nut allergy (so we enjoyed the pistachio creme on the side). Speaking of, they were great with accommodating our allergies and answering all of our questions about the menu. Overall, I love neighborhood joints like this! I love that this one's been around for so long, and hope it's here for years to come! There is a new merchant credit card fee (up to 3.99%) charged on all credit card transactions, but all and all its a win.

    Since I moved back to Houston from NYC in late 2023, Roost has cemented itself as probably one of my favorite (if not THE favorite) restaurants. That is not a statement I take lightly, given the wonderful eateries in this city. What makes Roost unique is that it is very clear in its identity, and is not trying to be a derivative or copy cat of some other trend or style of dining (which I often find these days). What you will get here is an always delicious meal - an ingredient driven menu that is always rotating seasonally, a cozy atmosphere, and the friendliest service. It is hard to review the food specifically since the menu is always rotating, but I can tell you I have NEVER had a bad meal here. Roost is really an all purpose place - it's casual enough that you can come for a quick weeknight dinner, a date night spot, or even use it as a special occasion. There is zero pretension here - it is very much a neighborhood restaurant through and through. Recently I attended a dinner and wine pairing where owner/chef Kevin Naderi spent a few moments sharing the ethos behind Roost - it was amazing to listen to the way he articulated all the reasons my girlfriend and I had always said why we love this place so much. Cannot recommend Roost enough!

    The good: ambience was homey and our server was nice The meh: the food. The supposedly standout bread service and fried cauliflower were nothing special. The octopus main was tiny and also nothing special. The burger was the best entree among the ones we ordered but was a pretty standard burger.

    We went to Roost for a mid week date night to check out their rotating menu and we were not disappointed. Roost is located in the Montrose area tucked away in a neighborhood setting. Roost was offering their Mediterranean inspired menu but some of their standard favorites this time around. Food: we ordered food for two people and were very satisfied at the end of the night. We started with the prosciutto e pera salad which had a good serving of prosciutto and pears topped with burrata and mustard frills. It was very refreshing and hearty. For our main courses we ordered the Patagonian salmon persillade which came with some cooked down cabbage and toasted garlic. The salmon was cooked nice but the star of that dish was the sauce that the cabbage was served in. We could have eaten just the cabbage on its own it was so good. We also had the truffled ricotta gnudi which was described as a pasta dish. It came more as a dumpling like texture but the flavor in this dish was also on point. It was paired with some baby mushrooms and Gruyère cheese. For a side we got the jerk spiced and grilled carrots and it came with a side of lime yogurt that was amazing. Our server recommended we get an extra side of just the yogurt and we ate all of it up. The carrots were tender and well seasoned and paired very well with the yogurt sauce. Our server offered us a complimentary dessert of tart lemon mousse parfait which was just as it sounds. It was tart and light but we were looking for something more filling for dessert and got the chai spiced sticky toffee pudding too. We expected the sticky toffee pudding to be a little more dense. It came more as a spiced chai cake than a sticky toffee pudding but the Chantilly crème on top was light and airy and paired well with the rose petal. We would probably pass on both of these desserts and try something like their coffee donuts next time. The portions for all of the food were a good serving for two people to share. If you are looking for large portions, this isn't the place for you. The ingredients they use in each dish are very fresh and you can taste that in each dish. Service: the service here is a bit slow because it has more of a neighborhood restaurant vibe. There was one main server and one runner who would come around and refill our drinks. We ordered a bottle of wine with dinner and the server kept it in the fridge in the back and would bring it out each time we needed our wine glasses refilled. They were both working very hard. Do not come here if you are in a rush. This place is more of a hangout spot with great food in an intimate setting. Our server was running around all night and doing her best to take care of 8 tables. She even came out to sing happy birthday to one of the tables in the middle of her service. Props to her for going all night. We spent 2 and half hours at Roost and had a great time just hanging out and enjoying the food. The food is top notch and you can tell they cook each dish with care. Each dish has its own unique flavor and we appreciated the variety of flavors we got try. We will be coming back when their menu rotates again. I would highly recommend coming out to Roost to try their food!

    Overall, was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant and will definitely be back to try more. The food was different in a good way, they have a menu that rotates about every two months I believe. The calamari we had was Chinese fusion and was my moms favorite dish of the night. I appreciate that they didn't try to call it something like "Szechuan calamari", and the black bean flavor really stood out. We also tried the fish (it may be a recurring menu item) which I didn't realize was with mole sauce until the server gave a brief explanation that it would be a Persian take on the mole sauce since the chef was Persian. Even though I really do not like mole I still decided to give it a try. It was much better than mole I've had and I thought it was well done, but we just weren't used to the flavors so I'm not sure it's something I'd order again. I was a little disappointed in the dessert as it seemed so basic compared to the other dishes we had, but I hope to come back for the famous donuts and coffee! They also have a tasting menu which I would consider next time. Service was great. There's a row of parking spots right in front of the restaurant, but i can't comment on whether it's easy to park during busy hours. We came at around 6pm on a Sunday and we were the one of the only 2 parties there. It started to pick up as we left.

    I saw a giant pretzel with 3 homemade spreads on my Instagram feed, and I immediately made a reservation. The bread service is a must. Their spreads are seasonal, so when I went I had a pimento cheese spread, artichoke lemon butter, and salted passionfruit butter. I honestly can't say which was my favorite, as I ate them all on rotation! For my entree, I ordered the cajun fried chicken livers on a biscuit. The pickled jalapeños were not only a great touch of color to the plate, but they were also bursting with flavor. The chicken livers were fried to perfection. My only qualm would be that the biscuit was rock solid. I was hoping for something softer and doughier. This restaurant has a fun and friendly montrose vibe to it with a menu that changes every 2-3 months. It's rustic, old-fashioned, and very homey ...but make an early reservation if you want to find parking!

    I guess I just don't get the appeal of this place. I came by with a group of nine on a Monday night. Given the location, the small dining area and the lack of parking were expected, but being crammed in a corner at a table that wasn't nearly big enough was a disappointment since we'd made the reservation over two weeks prior. All of us partook of the EatDrinkHTX menu for the campaign the restaurant was participating in. My wife opted for the fried cauliflower, which was nice but soft and unimpressive. For the main course, we went with the Roost Burger, a signature dish of the restaurant topped with goat cheese and garlic aoli. My burger came out underdone for how I ordered it, which wasn't a surprise. It seemed like those bringing out the food weren't aware of the ways we'd ordered our burgers and I got someone else's by mistake. The flavor of the burger was solid, but the fries were a complete let down. There was a decent portion, but not well seasoned and served with a side of way too little ketchup. I noticed that the collective reaction from everyone at our table was basically "I wouldn't order this again." The chicken milanesa was overcooked and dry according to both people who got it, while the falafel was lacking according to the one person who ordered it. Things only went downhill from there. Between the main course and dessert, the poor quality seating really began to take its toll. I don't know if it's a technique to turn over tables faster but your back hurting while waiting for food is hardly a pleasant experience. Those of us who ordered dessert opted for the salted chocolate budding. Salt was pretty much the only stand out flavor. They could have cut the salt in half and it still would have been the most prominent flavor in the dish. The more you ate, the more overpowering the salt flavor got. A complete miss and easily the worst desserts I've received at a restaurant in years. Service was attentive but the food came out very slowly. They were good about keeping our drinks refilled or replaced, though. The service and burger were the main reasons I didn't opt for a one star review. Regardless, like the majority of my group, I wouldn't come back here again.

    I think I may have found one of my new favorite places in Houston! Roost is a local business that boasts a "farm-to-table" philosophy and changes its menu every 6-8 weeks to always keep things fresh. The atmosphere is super warm and homey, as well as romantic (though not overwhelmingly so--still perfectly acceptable to come with friends or family!). The prices are also very reasonable and the service is quick and friendly. I'll try not to spend too much time recommending specific dishes (since, like I mentioned, their menu is always changing), but I will say that the quality of the food is top-notch, and they are able to concoct unconventional food combinations that just work so well. One such example is the Melon n' Prosciutto! The Mahi Mahi we had was also great, cooked to a perfect crisp. And their famous cauliflower (which is actually always on their menu) is a must-try. Overall, highly recommend! It would also be in your best interest to make a reservation, since the restaurant is fairly small.

    The cauliflower was delicious, it was accompanied with a nice sauce. Definitely will have it again, it's permanent staple in their monthly changing menu. The braised rib was a little to saucy for me so not one of my favorites. The ambiance is a nice little cozy spot, that's low key, the staff was warm and friendly. Will be coming back.

    Came here for a romantic date night and it was everything we wanted and more! I had had this place bookmarked for a while, but hadn't yet had a reason to check it out. We had a reservation for 2 on a Saturday night - reservations recommended, as the place is small and I can see it easily filling up. Between the two of us, we generally like sharing a variety of dishes, so we ordered mix of appetizers, which only left room for one entree and one dessert. Our appetizers were the Bread Service, Fried Cauliflower, and Panipuri. The Bread Service is a homemade pretzel served alongside pimento cheese spread, truffle honey butter, and strawberry balsamic butter. Each spread was so good, but my favorite was the pimiento cheese spread - this one was the most abundant in serving size too. The Fried Cauliflower was absolutely delicious. Reminiscent of fried cauliflower served at other restaurants, this one had a good savory to it with a sweet miso dressing as a contrast. It was also topped with flakes that are similar to those you see served in takoyaki. The Panipuri was also very tasty. It's pretty similar to panipuri I've had at other Indian restaurants, so bonus points for featuring this amidst other American dishes, but also with a hearty serving of chickpeas in each little cup. Onto the entree. We shared the Teres Steak, which ended up being plenty for two of us after the appetizer "sampler" we got earlier. This steak was served in a red wine sauce with a side of mushrooms and homemade gnocchi. Solid 5/5. The steak was tender and melted in our mouths. I don't think I've ever had steak & gnocchi, but their homemade gnocchi was the perfect carb to go with the meat, and had a nice sear on the outside to give it an extra crisp. The mushrooms made for a delicious vegetable serving. And as if we still had room, we ended up ordering the Coffee n' Donut Holes for dessert, as this is apparently a Roost staple. This was the perfect way to end the night. The donut holes were just that, but way better that what you typically think of when it comes to donut holes. These were a little denser, though not too cakey, and the nutmeg flavor was in no way overpowering. These were served alongside coffee-flavored ice cream and dulce de leche, and topped with pistachios. Everything blended together so well. The coffee ice cream was not bitter at all, and complimented the donut holes perfectly. The dulce de leche added a touch of sweetness, and the pistachios gave the right amount of crunch. We were so full that while we finished the perishable ice cream, we ended up having to pack the donut holes home for future enjoyment. Our waitress for the night was fantastic (can't remember her name, dang it). She made an excellent wine recommendation, an Argentinian Malbec bottle, and gave us the best suggestions on food. We learned that the menu is constantly rotating, and the menu we had at the time in early July 2023 was going to change over the next few weeks. Our server came by often and made sure our waters and wine glasses were always full. Even when we finished our bottle, she asked if we cared for an additional glass of another wine, to which we gladly accepted. While delivering our food to the table, she explained everything in great detail and would often come back to ask for our opinion on her recommendations. I honestly didn't have anything negative to say then and now, as everything was just excellent. We will definitely be returning to Roost! I'm just drooling thinking of that coffee and donut holes. I believe their menu has changed ever since we visited (yes, this review is way overdue), so I'm totally down to return soon.

Dry and bitter, nothing like the saucy, flavorful version I've had before--maybe just the late hour catching up with the kitchen. But even so, that pork chop... it lingered in the best way. And sometimes, that's all you need.

He ended up being one of the best aspects of our experience that evening. Our waitress wasn't nearly as good. We started by asking for ice in the water from the waitress since they just give you room temp water. After 10 mins of seeing her serve other tables and ignoring our request, we then figured the water boy would make it happen...and sure enough he did. We then ordered the grilled oysters, which are very lightly cooked, almost seemingly steamed more than anything, but they were very good regardless of the cooking method with the sauces and garnishes and pickle juice added. Next up was ordering the entrees. The menu here is a little strange with numerous vegan choices with strange titles and only a few items with protein. To top it off, there are not many choices period. The waitress explained that the left side is basically the apps, and the right side is basically the entrees. I knew I wanted to try the wagyu flat iron steak which is priced pretty high here, compared to other wagyu flat irons I've had at other restaurants across the US. We immediately told the waitress the next time she stopped by....and she just said okay, and walked away. I figured she would go get the manager....but nope...she just kept on serving other tables. At this point we thought to ourselves only the oyster app was decent.....and no reason to look at the dessert menu since we had already spent over $100 on food we could hardly eat. Sure enough, the waitress stops by a 2nd time and asks if we'd like to see the dessert menu. I couldn't leave fast enough and told her we'll skip. Needless to say we both left hungry as the portions were not only not edible, but also fairly small. The water boy also stopped by and offered to turn on the heater if we get cold. Boy, I wish he was our waiter instead. For a supposedly Michelin-starred restaurant, I feel they really got this one wrong.

Ultimately 93' Til is staying on my brunch list as a top tier choice, I can't wait to come back!

Bottom line is that Milton's should be your go to place for just good old Italian fare but in an upscale but not stuffy atmosphere. Mark Sayre - the restaurant groups beverage director hosted the charity dinner for my wife and I and 4 other guests. We were served 9 courses family style including a couple of cold plates, a couple of salads, a couple of pastas and a couple of entrees along with a dessert. Everything was fantastic and Mark did a great job of hosting and explaining the wine pairings. The best of the apps was the Sicilian Tar tar. Tuna, scallop and salmon perfectly marinated on crostinis. The Hearts of Palm Salad was excellent, and they are definitely sharable, probably made for 3 - 4 guests to share. Of the two pastas the Cresta De Gallo stood out the most, but the Bolognese was also virtually perfect. Of the two entrees we enjoyed the Chicken Piccata slightly more than the Hanger Steak. On our second visit, Ryan was our server. He had been our server at Underbelly, One Fifth and Georgia James in the past and remembered us immediately and was a wonderful host for the meal. This time the table enjoyed the Chargrilled Oysters and the Parsley Salad to start. We also sampled 4 pastas - The Cresta De Gallo again, the Chitarra with Scallops and Uni, the Lumache with Vodka Sauce and the Sourdough Tagliatelle. All were fantastic. My personal favorite was the Chitarra. In the end we finished off all 4 so no leftovers. We then shared the Chicken Piccata as our only entree. This dish is so good. Juicy Chicken, flavorful sauce, and the Sourdough Tagliatelle was the perfect accompaniment. We also enjoyed two desserts - The Budino (which is more like a chocolate tort than a pudding) and the Tiramisu. Both wonderful. If Milton's wasn't over an hour from our house, it would become a regular on the rotation. But it is definitely good enough to warrant many return visits.

The mango was a nice plate cleanser in between bites. The ambience was really nice , definitely upscale compared to their Travis's Carr location and something that you should dress up for. One was enough for me to feel just right. Since we had just ate, we decided to share the World Famous Cheeseburger. This was a great burger. I don't know if they were going for the smash effect, but it had smash burger characteristics. It had all my favorite things that are musts on a burger like American cheese and red onions. It also had a very nice chili aioli that added great flavor to the burger. I came on another stop for a drink visit shortly after and tried the pork dumplings and popcorn chicken.
