Had a Thursday night dinner at Chroma during their soft open and loved it. We loved Shade, Canopy and Alice Blue and are thrilled to have this spot in the neighborhood. Even better that they serve breakfast lunch and dinner 7 days a week. For dinner I had the gazpacho and the roast chicken breast. Both were delicious and dishes that I would for sure order again. The chicken breast was incredibly juicy and the gnocchi was pillowy and perfect. Can't wait to come back and try the breakfast/lunch menu.

Came to chrôma for brunch during their soft opening. Our group had the breakfast tartine, green egg frittata, crispy polenta & ratatouille, and fried green tomatoes. Everything was delicious and the service was great. Can't wait to come back! A great addition to the neighborhood around the Menil.

Food was amazing! Found they had an interesting and unique spin on what would normally be considered standard menu options. Ambiance was fun and cozy.

He asked our food order first. We had to ask him if we could get drinks first. 3) When we did order we watched our drinks sit at the end of the bar for 10 min until I had to go retrieve them myself. 4) The food was INCREDIBLY mid for it being that expensive. Undercooked potatoes, overcooked chicken, not a single person at the table of 4 adults had a good thing to say about their meal 5) It took 2 FREAKING HOURS with no one there. When I say no one I mean completely empty 6) Trying to check out and leave. Our server who was looking for an upsell told us he saw a cookie in the back that was ready to go. Thanks for telling our 3 small children that at 9:30. Reluctantly after telling him no several times it was awkward enough to cave. Cookie took about 20 minutes to come out. We had been there for over 2 hours at that point and we had to just get up and leave. If you go to this restaurant after reading this, you deserve the horrible experience you will certainly have.

good times has excellent service !…read more when i came in i was a little skeptical of their selections, because they were not researched prior to visiting. i was warmly welcomed and directed to a booth. the server expeditiously brought out the water, and i'm grateful because it's been million degrees outside. of course prior to consuming anything, a lady must wash her hands ! once i discovered the bathroom, i also discovered that there is only one single restroom... for the size of the establishment, i think there should be at least two restrooms !! but alas, you get what you get, and you don't get upset. c'est la vie. after sorting through my emotional state because of the lack of amenities-- i proceeded to go over the menu. after reading through the menu, i was appalled to find out that they are selling pancakes for 17$ !!!!!!! just plain simple buttermilk pancakes w/ berries on the side. i promised myself i would not gon i landed on the breakfast tacos w/ avocado and a side of home fries + a cappuccino. the cappuccino was more of a tiny latte, but still great and the tacos were surprisingly great!! the service was great would absolutely recommend! bonné appétit

We were told it would take a while for the food to come out, which was fine because we were prepared to sit down and eat. However, another staff member then told us they would not be able to serve us because most of the workers were leaving at 2:00 p.m., leaving only one person in the kitchen. When I asked what time the restaurant closed, I was told 4:00 p.m. If the restaurant closes at 4:00 p.m. and reservations are being accepted, customers should still be served, especially when the reservation was already on the schedule. We ended up leaving without being seated or served. This was a very poor experience and extremely unprofessional. I would not recommend this restaurant and will not be returning.

We came on a Friday after work and it was packed! Parking lot full (they do valet as well) but we found street parking. Walking in, it was lively and fun and we were luckily sat at the bar. Our bartender, Robert, was awesome and really took care of us. He gave us a rundown on drinks, food, etc. We essentially ordered one of every item on the HH food menu except the plantain and dip (which we'll have to do next time). Their happy hour food menu is essentially a tasting menu, smaller bowls of their main dishes with some apps and test items. There wasn't an item I didn't like but the golden and the fried chicken bites were 2 standouts for me. The golden has perfectly seasoned and grilled chicken with a curry sauce, rice, and plantains. The mixture of textures and flavors is just great on the palate and each bite can be a little different keeping it interesting. Drink-wise, I tried the musa mule, redbush sidecar, and OGA palmer (NA). I really enjoyed the redbush sidecar, it was bright but still had the earthiness of a darker liquor. The musa mule was alright, I thought it was refreshing but not my favorite drink. The OGA palmer was also super refreshing and great if you don't want any alcohol. Overall, I really enjoyed ChopnBlok and am so glad its so close to me now. Happy hour or not, it seems like a great spot to eat, drink, and chill.

Despite how packed and busy it was, the bartenders were super attentive throughout our entire visit. I ordered the following: 1. Coconut Chicken Bites: There was barely any coconut flavor. I would say this appetizer can be skipped as there was nothing particularly special about it. 2. Golden Bowl: Super delicious and easily the best dish I had here. Every bite was packed with so much flavor. I would definitely order this again! 3. Greens & Tings: This had a very smoky flavor, and the chicken was incredibly soft, tender, and tasty. Overall, I'm glad I got to try this restaurant, especially since it was my first time having West African cuisine.

It came out rather quickly and I thought it was delicious! The grits were nice, creamy, and flavorful, and the shrimp was very tender.

My first happy hour visit I tried their Mississippi-style chicken on a stick (good, but I prefer San Antonio's milanesa version dipped in pickled jalapeno juice). Make it an entree. :: And of course, their oysters. I'm an oyster happy hour girlie! Check out my Yelp list of oyster happy hours: https://www.yelp.com/collection/ZhuQbFKQfzO2TR6QFYMc0w/Oyster-Happy-Hour :: The beau loves their pea salad; said it's just like his grandma used to make. I don't fully rec the the jerk fish collars, as this dish has a lot of bones and it's hard to eat. They have indoor and outdoor seating, a great cocktail list--they've got frozen margs and frozen sidecar.

Ordered: - Laissez Faire - King Ora Salmon Tartare - Exactly what I expected. Salmon was good and flavors complimented each other well. - Ravioli - We did the large order and it came with 8 ravioli. It gave me the vibes of Texas BBQ meets ravioli. I wish we had a few more fig pieces, I liked it better when the ravioli bite had a piece of fig with it. - Dry Aged Duck - We did a half order and I think that was the perfect amount without being too flavor fatigue (some pieces of the pieces were a bit fattier). I didn't eat it with the liver moouse since I felt like it was already pretty rich on its own. I did like the foie gras jus with the duck. - Roasted Brassicas - The broccolini and cauliflower helps bring a little bit of freshness between each bite to the duck.
