The food was 10/10. We came for their breakfast hours at 9 am, which a lot of people don't seem to know about, and it was so worth it. I got the migas - and it's probably some of the best breakfast I've had at a restaurant. The green sauce with the eggs was to die for, and the tortillas they gave on the side tasted really fresh. Also, shout out for having cholula on standby. The coffee was also really good for just having it with some creamer and sugar. The cappuccinos also looked really good. Next time, I want to try their rolls with the strawberry jam. I would definitely come here again. The weather was really humid and gloomy, but this is such a cute and quaint place, and the outdoor seating is amazing - would love to sit outside when the weather is nicer. All the staff were super cheerful and nice and brought everything out so efficiently.

I heard of Tiny Boxwoods years ago since a friend actually worked here when she returned to Texas. She didn't last long but I remembered the name being so unique. By accident, I was at a different Milk & Cookies (where Tiny No. 5 is) so I drove the 10 minutes or so. For someone not from the area, this was in a very unexpected area at the corner of Alabama and Saint St., hidden from the street. I was lucky to find a spot right by the door, but as soon as I got out of my car, the rain started to fall. I made my way quickly to the hostess stand (who were in the process of moving indoors) and they said the bar was open/seat yourself. Found a perfect spot right inside, and was given a menu by the nice bar staff. I had a few things in mind, but I decided on the lunch risotto. This arrived quickly, and I dug right in, especially enjoying the roasted carrots with the lemon parmesan risotto. There were other vegetables-some I couldn't even identify-but the ones I did try all blended together nicely. Being a lunch dish, the size was smaller which was perfect for me. Bar area became much busier since some parties from outside came in due to the downpour, so the establishment went from somewhat quiet to much louder, but everything still seemed to be running smoothly. Service was nice, and I'm glad I was able to visit this location after years of following them! I look forward to trying other restaurants under their name-

Tiny boxwood has a country club feel, good food, and relaxing atmosphere in their "pool-party"-feel garden area. Disclaimer: we went in spring, so the weather was perfect. This review probably wouldn't stand the test of a Houston summer. FOOD: very good. I had a simple salad but it was enjoyable. And the avocado toast looked great. The bread though was the item that stood out-- thick, clearly homemade, and just elevated the dishes. (I had a side of toast with the salad and the avocado toast of course had toast). AMBIANCE: awesome garden area. We dined outside. Highly recommend if weather permits. Country-club feel. SERVICE: friendly but a little slow, though this made the vibes relaxed so no complaints. We did also go around 2-3 so an off-time.

Incredible outdoor space filled with loads of greenery, seating, and all around great vibes for yapping. Came here with a larger party, and we didn't have an issue getting some seats in the nursery area. 100% this place will be a staple everytime we are in Houston. Highlights: -The butter croissant was flaky, the butter flavorful, and the jam was perfectly sweet -The cookies were out of this world. Perfectly gooey, crispy, and the right amount of sweetness. -the bacon scones were dense, flavorful, and sizable. They also were not dry like typical scones, it was a fan favorite -great wine list. We ordered a few bottles of their Sancerre and it hit the spot on a warm march day Tips: -they don't take reservations for brunch, but you can grab a drink and walk around the nursery -a few doors down they have a sister restaurant that serves ice cream, cookies, and some yummy dessert. If you can't get a reservation, put your name down and walk over there for sweets first

Tiny Boxwoods was absolutely fabulous. From the service to the ambiance, everything felt thoughtful and well done. The food came out quickly, portions were generous, and it was perfectly sized so we still had room to enjoy some of their cookies afterward. Definitely make a reservation ahead of time because it's a very popular spot and not a lot of seating (very cozy). If the weather is nice, I highly recommend sitting outside! Overall, a fantastic Houston spot with great service, atmosphere, and food.

On Saturday we went to brunch at this spot in Houston that everyone talks about. The place is absolutely beautiful gorgeous garden and great ambiance. But when we sat down, we were told they had run out of fresh juice, cinnabuns, croissants... and honestly the list kept going. This was a little disappointing. We ordered migas, burrata with bread, and a pastry basket. * Chocolate croissant -- very greasy, a bit too much for me. * Jalapeño scone -- really good. * Blueberry muffin -- didn't love it. * Migas -- eggs were good, tortillas greasy but tasty. The tomatillo green sauce was decent. * Burrata -- bread was great, but overall felt like it was missing something. Coffee was good, drinks were good (the paloma was nice). Service was okay . I know they were packed, but it took a while just to get water. I had high hopes, and while it wasn't bad, I did leave a little disappointed.

Ok this is a gem This restaurant is famous for their cookies and now has several locations, but this one just steals my heart because it has a beautiful garden and it has a nursery too! The garden has scattered tables for 2 for romantic dates and also a gazebo for larger groups or gatherings. They also have a covered patio in case you want to be outside but not be bothered by the sun. Inside has a charming touch, feminine , elegant, just beautiful! Their menu is not too big but not too small either, you will find something to eat here. Their bread and butter is literally heaven! Don't forget to get it. I got the Watercolor, a delicious combination of shrimp and crab meat over a bead or coconut rice with a spicy butter, very delicious but I'd order next time with less butter. My friend got the crab cakes and the grilled veggies, for me. The crab cakes had a strong horseradish flavor, but still very good. They have a wide selection of wine and cocktails which I appreciate, and the one I got was so tasty! Love that they offer brunch because in the nice weather days this is the perfect location for an amazing brunch. Coming back soon! Note:they have parking My only complaint: No WIFI

Yes. Tiny Boxwoods is exactly who she thinks she is. It's taken me way too long to come here as a foodie, but I made it for my anniversary dinner tonight and was relived to get what I expected. Hot off a disaster of a dining experience, Tinys ushered me right back into the quality I've come to know here in Houston. Ambiance: lovely patio for an al fresco experience. Menu had more the one option for me to consider. Honey's steak was cooked to the right temp (!!) and fries were addictive. (Were they fried in duck fat?! They were special. Couldn't have been canola). Wherever there was a hem about to show, someone else from the team came and picked up the slack. It was nice to see a team working well together. Only drawback was that chaotic bathroom area. I told Opentable the occasion ahead of time and a woman from mgmt came over to congratulate us and offer us Prosecco on the house- a lovely gesture. Overall, very pleased and looking forward to returning. Two word review: get fries

One of my favorite restaurants in Houston! The waitstaff is so kind and helpful. The food is always yummy. It's a bit expensive so be prepared for that. However, it's worth your money because of the ambiance of the restaurant and outdoor area.

While in Houston, I found Tiny Boxwoods. It was a quaint and charming breakfast and brunch spot. Though there was outdoor seating, we opted to sit inside. Hubby and I both had coffee while Dad had hot chocolate. Dad had the Mother's breakfast, which included scrambled eggs, white cheddar jalapeno grits, homemade biscuits, jam, whipped butter, and bacon. I had the Fruit & Yogurt Parfait, which included berries, labne, Tiny's house granola, and honey. Hubby had sides of sunny-side-up eggs, bacon, and a fruit bowl. Everything came out quickly and we enjoyed it all. Highly recommend this for a gathering spot!

Loved everything about this place! To start, the land and restaurants is so cute! Despite it being in August, we were able to sit outside for breakfast as it wasn't too hot yet. The service was fast and the waitress was kind. I had the Mother's Breakfast and was not disappointed at all. The food was great, their white cheddar jalapeño grits were so delicious and paired perfectly with their eggs. The biscuit and jam were so good. My friend has the lox bagel and the portion looked very generous. I love their cocktail menu, it has great options that pair well with breakfast. Despite their breakfast menu being small, I feel like the options are great and it seems like you can't go wrong with anything. As a bonus, the nursery opens at 9am, so you can take a stroll after breakfast and find a plant to take home!

I've been wanting to try Tiny Boxwoods for a long time, so I went with my siblings for brunch. When we arrived, we were told there would be a 30-40 minute wait, which we expected and were fine with. The host checked us in, took my phone number, and said we'd get a text when our table was ready. I even confirmed my number because I thought it was strange that I didn't receive a confirmation text for the waitlist, but he assured me he had it correctly. After about 40 minutes, we went back to check on our wait time. A different hostess was at the front and couldn't find our name on the list. The man who had checked us in was avoiding the front, which made the situation even more frustrating. We had waited all that time, and it honestly felt like we had been forgotten. Thankfully, a manager or team lead stepped in and was kind enough to seat us inside. Unfortunately, the interaction with the hostess already ruined the vibe, and our server was also very short with us. Overall, the experience was disappointing. I wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend this place. (10/04/2025)

I feel really rushed. Im sat at the bar. My food came out way too quickly which makes me think it was microwaved. I barely got my coffee and the food arrived. It is a shame as my migas eggs are good ish. Bit flavor less. The coffee is good. But I feel rushed and not relaxed.

    Are reservations required?

Not really, it's recommended if you don't want to wait. Last time me and my friend went we just waited 15 minutes.

Do you offer brunch every morning or only on weekends?

Brunch is open on the weekends. Saturday they'll be open for brunch from 8 am to 3 pm, and on Sunday's they'll be open for brunch from 9 am to 2 pm. They're open during the day as well during the week but it's for lunch from 11 am to 3 pm. :)

On Sunday , what time do they stop taking customers?

Sundays are only open during brunch hours from 9 am to 2 pm. Normally around 1:50 is when the line to order your food at the counter will start to close. I recommend to come at the latest 1:30 to still give ample time to get seated and enjoy your… Read more

Anyone know what kind of white wine they use in the White Wine Mojito?

Not really. I've only tried their mimosas and I was just happy to see something to drink because the only vegetarian brunch to eat was salad.

Do they have waitstaff or do you order and sit down?

There is a waitstaff and they r so nice

Do they have tables for a party of 8?

They can attend a party of 8.

    How is their dinner food?

The ambiance on the patio is wonderful at night and the food is overall pretty good. The wood fired artichokes were amazing, the watercolor entree was good for the most part, and dessert was underwhelming. I don't understand the hype over the… Read more

First, we got there pretty early for our reservation. We sat almost immediately upon check in. Our waiter was in training but did a really good job. Ordered a whiskey sour. Was seated at the bar so I got to watch it be made. The bartender- man that guy never stopped. He was organized and just did his thing. So many pretty drinks were made while I was there watching. The pink one, whatever it was, was really pretty! On to the food. We got two apps, two meals, and two desserts. Husband ordered the Brussels, Steak Frites, and the Devil's Affogato. I got the Bacon covered Dates, the Pizza, and the Sticky Toffee Cake. The Brussels were good - husband liked them more than me. They were good. Had cashews in them. Little spicy. The bacon covered dates. Think this was my favorite bite. Sweet, salty, creamy. Came we three & I had two. The pizza was sweet and salty as well. The crust was so good and fresh. The arugula set it off so well. Def a buy again! The Steak Frites was so good. The chimichurri sauce was perfect. Just the right mount of citrus. Steak was tender and the fries seasoned well. The desserts - don't skip them! The Devils Affogato we had the first time we ate at Sixty Vines. Had to have it again. If you like coffee, chocolate and vanilla ice cream just get it. Restaurant vibe is relaxed and clean. There were several large parties and what looked like a lot of date night guests. Just try it. No regrets!!

Unfortunately, just like my first visit, they were not fully met. We had reservations for brunch, and our party of six was seated immediately on the beautiful second floor. Service was efficient throughout the meal, with our waiter taking our orders promptly and the food arriving quickly. To start, we ordered the Brussels and the hummus. The Brussels were cooked very well and had an excellent crispy texture, but I felt the kung pao vinaigrette lacked the bold flavor I was expecting. A little more sweetness and acidity would have helped brighten the dish and make it more memorable. The hummus, on the other hand, pleasantly surprised me. Both the red beet hummus and edamame hummus were flavorful and enjoyable. They paired well with the crisp flatbread and even served as a nice accompaniment to some of our less exciting entrées. For my meal, I ordered the marinated artichoke pizza, which unfortunately did not stand out. I had the same issue that I experienced during my previous visit: the crust was simply too thick and chewy. After a few slices, my jaw was genuinely getting tired from all the chewing. The pizza also could have benefited from more bacon and a more generous amount of sauce, as it came across a bit dry overall. The campanelle suffered from a similar problem. While I understand that simplicity was likely the goal, the dish was so understated that it ended up feeling bland. It tasted like a slightly elevated version of buttered pasta with just a hint of white wine. There was nothing particularly wrong with it, but it lacked the depth of flavor needed to make it memorable. On a much more positive note, the carrot cake pancakes were easily the star of the meal. I tend to gravitate toward savory breakfasts, but my sister was eager to try them, and I am so glad she did. These were not your typical pancakes. They were thick, fluffy, and incredibly soft in the center. With toppings like maple butter, maple cream, mascarpone whip, candied walnuts, and cardamom sugar, I expected the dish to be overwhelmingly sweet. Surprisingly, everything was balanced quite well. While I cannot imagine finishing an entire plate by myself, anyone with a sweet tooth would absolutely love them. Overall, this restaurant continues to impress me with its atmosphere, service, and a few standout dishes, but the entrées I have tried have not lived up to the hype. If I were to return, I would happily order the hummus and carrot cake pancakes again, but I would probably skip the pizza and pasta in favor of trying something new.

I might have just found one of my new favorite restaurants in Houston. What a great experience!…read more Recently, a good friend dined here and immediately called me to tell me how great it was. She then text our friends group and said we all had to come together and we did just that. She made reservations in advance as this place is popular thanks to recent Michelin Bib Gourmand awards as well as many other accolades. Walk ins are welcome as well. Our reservation was later in the evening so after a night of bar hopping, we ride shared in which I think is one of the best options as parking is limited here or you have to find street parking in the neighborhood. This place is literally a house turned into a restaurant. Inside is just multiple rooms with a couple of tables. It makes for a unique, intimate dining experience, perfect for a date night. In our case, we were a group of nine so we got patio seating. The patio is spacious and well kept, and if the weather cooperates, a great place to hang. One thing that really stood out to me is the amazing ambience of this place. I was told that the bartenders pick the music for the night from the owners extensive vinyl collection. Once the album is in, they play it in it's entirety. The sound system was systeming and on top of the great company and food, we were totally vibing with the music. Customer service was amazing. Every staff member we came across was so friendly, especially our server. The menu here changes. There are some mainstays, but they like to change things up. Their website shows current menus daily. We were told that family style is the best way to experience this restaurant. I am one of those people that will always listen to the staff and go with their suggestions. Our group went through quite a bit of their menu from apps, entrees and desserts. I loved that our server and staff brought our food out one by one in what they thought was the best progression so we could take a culinary journey. We started off light with their popular Dilly Bread. Best bread I've had in awhile. Next was the Texas Tartare. It was my first ever tartare and it was delicious. We then moved on to Fingerlingin Good which was a crispy potato dish with chili crisp and mascarpone. It was potatoes elevated to the highest level and so so good. Next up was Beer Battered Sweet Tots. I didn't think sweet potatoes could be that good. Our first entree was a vegan dish called the Carroty Kid. I could seriously become a vegan if all dishes tasted like this. It was curried. A bowl of jasmine rice would've made it a complete meal. Next we tried another famous Nobie's dish called Nonno's Pasta. Handmade, perfectly cooked tagliatelle with a delicious bolognese. I wouldn't share this next time. Ok, I will, but it was that good. On to the heavier dishes. First up was the Jamon With Your Bad Self. This came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. It was favorite heavy entree. It was high quality, iberico pork steak with shaved brussels and all kinds of other tasty ingredients that when combined made such a tasty bite. We then went to the sea with the Drops of Grouperter. It was good, but not something I would order again. It was a little too smoky for my liking. Our biggest dish that came market priced was the Kick His Ass Seabass. This was a whole fish that was presented beautifully on a platter with all the accouterments to make your own elevated fish tacos. We left no morsel of fish behind. It was absolutely delicious. One of the things this place is really known for is their pies. This was the part I was most excited about. Just like their menu, their pies change up. We got all their offerings that night which they presented on one big platter of goodness. Their main stay and I believe always on the menu is the famous Olive Oil Cake. It's not a pie, but I can see why this is such a popular dessert. I can't even describe it, you just have to try it to understand. The pies we had were the Black Bottom Strawberry Pie, Banana Rum, and the Peanut Butter Pie. I would order all of them again. We all had a difference of opinion on which was the best, but my fave was the Banana Rum. Overall, I was highly impressed with this place and kind of mad at myself for waiting so long to make it here. It had made it's way to the top of my list of favorite restaurants in Houston. I will be back.

The standout for me was the charbroiled oysters. I usually don't enjoy charbroiled oysters, but these were excellent and completely changed my expectations. Great dessert selection. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something a little different with bold flavors and a well-rounded menu.

The staff were also pleasant and attentive, checking in on us and making sure we knew what dishes were new and popular. Each bite was balanced and flavorful, going well with both of the sauces. The chicken parm was also elevated in flavor, giving a home-like and rich feeling to each bite. For dessert I got the chocolate mousse and it was rich heavenly bliss. The meringue and mousse went perfectly together in both flavors and textures. A wonderful experience!

Bottom line is that Milton's should be your go to place for just good old Italian fare but in an upscale but not stuffy atmosphere. Mark Sayre - the restaurant groups beverage director hosted the charity dinner for my wife and I and 4 other guests. We were served 9 courses family style including a couple of cold plates, a couple of salads, a couple of pastas and a couple of entrees along with a dessert. Everything was fantastic and Mark did a great job of hosting and explaining the wine pairings. The best of the apps was the Sicilian Tar tar. Tuna, scallop and salmon perfectly marinated on crostinis. The Hearts of Palm Salad was excellent, and they are definitely sharable, probably made for 3 - 4 guests to share. Of the two pastas the Cresta De Gallo stood out the most, but the Bolognese was also virtually perfect. Of the two entrees we enjoyed the Chicken Piccata slightly more than the Hanger Steak. On our second visit, Ryan was our server. He had been our server at Underbelly, One Fifth and Georgia James in the past and remembered us immediately and was a wonderful host for the meal. This time the table enjoyed the Chargrilled Oysters and the Parsley Salad to start. We also sampled 4 pastas - The Cresta De Gallo again, the Chitarra with Scallops and Uni, the Lumache with Vodka Sauce and the Sourdough Tagliatelle. All were fantastic. My personal favorite was the Chitarra. In the end we finished off all 4 so no leftovers. We then shared the Chicken Piccata as our only entree. This dish is so good. Juicy Chicken, flavorful sauce, and the Sourdough Tagliatelle was the perfect accompaniment. We also enjoyed two desserts - The Budino (which is more like a chocolate tort than a pudding) and the Tiramisu. Both wonderful. If Milton's wasn't over an hour from our house, it would become a regular on the rotation. But it is definitely good enough to warrant many return visits.

The team behind the popular restaurant Nobie's opened up this tiki inspired restaurant. Tiki bars happen to be one of my favorite varieties of bars so I was more than excited to finally check it off my list. I had recently seen them on the Food Network as well. They share a lot with another popular dining spot so parking can be a little difficult in their lot. You can find street parking or park across the street in an overflow lot. Customer service was great from start to finish. We had just ate next door and our intentions were to come in here just for cocktails, but I couldn't leave without trying some of the popular items. I wanted the most tropical drink I could find on the menu so I started off with the Blue Hawaiian. I saw fire on the description so my extra self needed to have it. I'm a big rum guy so this drink was right up my alley and very boozy with two types of rum. It was very coconut forward with pineapple being the secondary flavor. One was enough for me to feel just right. Since we had just ate, we decided to share the World Famous Cheeseburger. This was a great burger. I don't know if they were going for the smash effect, but it had smash burger characteristics. It had all my favorite things that are musts on a burger like American cheese and red onions. It also had a very nice chili aioli that added great flavor to the burger. I came on another stop for a drink visit shortly after and tried the pork dumplings and popcorn chicken. These were also very good. If I lived in the area, this place would easily be a place I would frequent often. I will most definitely be back!

Is this the most overrated restaurant in Houston?…read more After being on my "To Try" list for an unacceptable amount of time, I finally made my way over to Nancy's Hustle. I was lucky enough to snag a seat at the bar with no reservation. I arrived about 30 minutes into open and there was already a wait list. I suggest getting there early or making a reservation if you're not a solo diner. The interior is nice and intimate, with low lighting that doesn't work well for photos but definitely for a cozy dinner. The set up and music reminded me a little bit of 93 Til due to the decor. I started with the duck dumplings and the Nancy cakes. I wasn't expecting it but they offer half orders which is great for a solo diner who wants to try multiple things. Both items were delicious. The dumplings had a nice savory sauce with some texture from the peanuts. These were great but probably my bottom of the list which is saying something. I would only say this because they reminded me a lot of the hot oil wontons from duck and bao so at that price point, you might as well get more. The Nancy cakes were pillowy and savory and made a great vessel for honey butter and roe. I even used a bit to dunk into the leftover dumpling sauce. I suggest eating these as soon as they hit your table. I was trying to savor my bites but the cakes benefit a lot from being nice and hot. It's not the most ground breaking dish in the world but it's done well and I would definitely call it a must order. I could have eating a full order of it alone. My main dishes is where my mind was blown. I went with the roast chicken and half order of the gem lettuce salad and fries. This might be the best roast chicken I've ever had in Houston. Chicken can be a hit or a miss because sometimes, there just isn't much flavor. This was absolutely not the case here. The chicken was juicy and seasoned to the core. It even heated up well as left overs without being dry. The chili sauce on the bottom was flavor intensified and as I swiped my chicken through the pools of sauce, I thought to myself "overrated where?!". The gem salad caught me by surprise. I'm not one to stay away from a salad at a restaurant because they typically do them better than you can make at home . Nancy's Hustle solidified this opinion. The salad was wonderfully briney and savory. The lettuce was crisp and covered in the herby shallot dressing that grabbed my taste buds. Topped with anchovies and pancetta for a nice salty touch. So so good. The fries were the perfect side, crisp and not too potatoey (yes this is a thing). I traded in the aoli for some ketchup because that's just my thing. I concluded this wonderful dining experience with a dessert. Buttermilk ice cream with cornflakes, black berries and honey butter cookie. This dessert was a lesson in balance. Every component was present , sweet, salty, crunchy, cool. Each bite had something new to offer and combined into a perfectly executed dessert. As a cocktail, I tried their tropical drink. I don't remember what it was called but I know I could have drank about 7 of those. This was a great dining experience. I think when things get popular, sometimes we feel the need to be contrarians with our experiences. That wasn't the case for me. Nancy's Hustle has earned its popularity and I'll definitely be back

We got seated out in the patio and they have fans they can bring to the table if it gets too hot in this Houston heat but, the vibes were perfect for date night once the sun went down and the small table lamp turned on.

The front hostess, Annabella, was incredibly welcoming and helpful, making us feel valued from the start. Our waiter was equally amazing and attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely dedicated to ensuring we had a wonderful evening. We started with the deviled eggs and crab beignets, both of which were absolutely delicious. Their French onion soup was hearty. Drinks were fabulous too. For our meal, we ordered the mashed potatoes, cacio e pepe, pork schnitzel, blackened fish, miso fish, and burger, and every dish was perfectly prepared and packed with flavor. The restaurant went above and beyond by surprising my mother-in-law with a birthday dessert (upon my request when I had originally booked it), which was such a thoughtful touch and made the celebration even more memorable. We also enjoyed the pecan ball and chocolate soufflé, and both were outstanding. Between the incredible food, impeccable service, and special attention to our celebration, State of Grace exceeded all expectations. Annabella, our waiter, and the entire staff made the evening feel truly special. Easily one of the best dining experiences we've had in Houston, and we can't wait to return! I will be planning a girls night there soon!

Maybe my expectations were too high, but one of my pancakes was under cooked. The others were still just average to me in terms of flavor AND texture. But, I'm a "crispy edges" pancake kinda of person, and these definitely don't hit that mark. Now my eggs and bacon were fantastic, but those are two breakfast staples that are kind of hard to mess up. Now the service?! Oh my, the service was amazinggggggg. I sat at the bar and I felt like I had the entire bar staff catering to me. They definitely excel in that regard!!! Constantly checking in, glass always stayed full, and anything I requested came with a quickness. My griddle cakes, bacon, eggs, and a glass of bubbles came to $47, which is super expensive for breakfast. The price tag just isn't worth it for me to try again, honestly. But I'm glad I came! Their menu is very, VERY limited, so if you're a picky eater you may want to check their offerings first before venturing here.
