What a neat place! I've never been to a bar by myself before but I'm glad I choose Roosevelt for my first time! Did a little solo trip to Denver and wanted to explore the area before dinner. Saw this was a block away from my reservation and came in. It wasn't super packed yet, which was great. The vibe here is top notch. If you're like me and love all things old school, then this is the place for you haha. The upper level has couches for seating with bookshelves built into the wall as their displays. The bottom level has the bar and high table seating and tables. The bottom is also where the full wall of typewriters is!!! So cool. What I probably liked best was that the menu itself was also a book. The first few pages were devoted to the actual menu and the rest of the books were pages of different prompts -- what was your favorite vacation? most embarrassing moments? song recommendations? etc etc. and people actually had filled them out, so it was fun to read those while drinking. To top it off, when I went the bar was playing a lot of old school hip hop so that was another win in my ...book (hehe). Also as everyone else has mentioned, the bathroom is accessible by pushing the bookshelf doors near the bar. It felt real speakeasy-like, even if it was just to go to the bathroom haha. It was between this and the Front Porch; this was the better decision. The bartender, Issac, attended to us quickly with waters and got our drinks quickly. We then asked for a drink off menu and he didn't disappoint. All drinks were made with such creativity. It was very mesmerizing to watch the bartenders work. I think I would like to try this place again on a night that isn't NYE. The atmosphere and eclectic-ness of the whole bar is great - 5 stars for the decor and space. We only had 1 drink and of course since it was NYE it was PACKED - but the drinks were good and we got them within 5 minutes of walking in, which is pretty dang good for a packed out holiday night. The music was overly loud, like club level, but again, it was NYE so this may not be the norm - but I dig the menu and vibe enough to come back and find out! As some of the reviewers have mentioned, some of the staff here are exceptionally rude. Came in for a few drinks and the waiter was very rude and short. He didnt seem like he even wanted to be there and this was on a Friday night. If you dont wanna do customer service you're in the wrong profession. I confronted him about his rudeness and he responded with "whatever, I dont know". We left right away and I talked to main bartender who then defended his worker by saying "oh we try to cater to what are customers" which has nothing to do with I was explaining to him showing he doesn't even care. Unless what he meant was they like to be rude to their customers who were polite. Def don't recommend and not not coming back here read more

Rightfully so I didn't tip our server because we were on a time crunch. But she tipped herself when she ran my card later on - my drink was $9 and she tipped herself $3 according to my bank account. Call me a nerd, or an alcohol hipster, but I love me some chartreuse! We came here because the fiancé wanted to go to a speakeasy, and while I wouldn't call The Roosevelt a speakeasy, it is for sure a mixologist heaven. I like my local Boulder spot (Bitter Bar), but when out in Denver I feel like you're at a LoDo frat bar, or some fancy Larimer spot with overpriced cheap wine. But, alas, a friend suggested that we try this place out, so we somehow found a spot on Larimer on a Saturday night, then crossed the street and found this open-air jem. I knew it was going to be a hit when the bartender (I'd say mixologist) told me they had both VEP Chatreuese liquors. It does help that they will pretty much make you anything if you're picky. Gosh I just love the Roosevelt room; it's one of my go-to pregame spots before a night out on the town. I love the dim lighting, the old-time decor, and just overall trendy (but not in an over-the-top way) vibe that you feel by just walking in. I also love the music mix, and the slightly older crowd--it's a nice and low-key escape from the frat boy craziness on Market St. The bartenders are always attentive and great; they sure know how to keep a cup full--be warned however, the drinks are a little pricey, but its expected for the location & overall good time. Also, the bathrooms are hidden behind a fake bookcase--totally adds to the cool vibe of this bar and makes for a great backdrop for pictures (duh!). Sorry Roosevelt, I have to update my review. So the Roosevelt is one of those places that I think has a TON of potential. The concept is fantastic, the vintage typewriters the library theme, along with the really neat secret entrances to the bathrooms, and a really neat newspaper style menu. However, they manage to mess the whole thing up. First off, change the music. Last time I checked the Roosevelt's weren't rapping to Jay Z. The music does not at all fit your décor, if you want to be just another trashy club that's fine, but I know I won't be going to a vintage style bar so that I can listen to crappy pop music. If I'm sitting down to order a "To Kill a Bull Moose", I'd like to feel like I'm actually sitting in an era specific drinking establishment. My other complaint is the service. If you want to attract guests, especially in the late evenings, you need two bartenders on at night, or at least someone that can swing between bartending and something like cleaning duties so that when it gets busy they can come in and assist. I came in on a weeknight with a group, and it took at least 20 min for some of us to even order a drink, and another 15 for it to come. I have no problem waiting for a well-made drink, however it shouldn't take 20 min for someone to ask one of us what we would like especially when we're standing at the bar the whole time. Overall the Roosevelt is a great idea conceptually, they just need to not ruin it with trashy pop/rap music (and the crowd that brings) and by making sure the service is up to par. The market is definitely there for the vintage bars, they just need to execute on it. read more

Hi volume bar that offers pretty decently crafted cocktail. It's definitely one of the better places in Lodo. You can get a real cocktail a beer and a shot. The bartenders aren't the typical bros with tribal arm bands or female flashing her princess parts in your face for more tips. I work over at 17th an Wynkoop. I had the most terrifying experience of my life. My good friend wanted to come; I loved this place (took fam and friends from out of town). We went and after about 45 mins, my friend wanted to dance and she had been told to chill so I told her to chill. Next thing I know I'm GRABBED by BOTH arms to a back hallway and THROWN outside.
