Just hosted a birthday party here for a group of middle schoolers and it was a huge success! They did the Lost Ship (I think this might have been called Pirate's Booty at some point or maybe it's called that on their website now?) and it was perfect for 13yos who've never done an escape room before. Mostly that was due to the fun but not criminal theme (so many escape rooms are murder themed) and Eddie, the incredible game master. Thanks to Yelp for the great reviews that led us to pick this company and room, we used the website to make the reservation and talk to someone beforehand to make sure it was the right fit for the kids. We also wanted to make sure it wouldn't include other people registering for the same time. We reserved for 7 kids but ended up only have 6. It is easier to do the room with even more people, FYI, but Eddie gave some well-times clues so the kids beat the room with a minute to spare. This is ideal if you're going for an entry-level escape room for kids where you're hoping, like we are, to convince your teenage daughter to escape rooms with the fam in the future. It is wise to pay attention to how many people you need to succeed because I've been to other escape rooms I've beaten with 4 people. This one is amendable to a bigger crowd, so great for a birthday party. The cost is reasonable and parking is validated. Also awesome because this is a pricey location and a little tricky when Haymarket is running. The location was a little hard to find- just a door on the street with no indication of how to get in, but then the intercom came on and we were buzzed in and sent to the basement. FYI, if you're over 6' you're going to feel claustrophobic because the ceiling in this place is lowwww. There is a clean, spacious bathroom and the quest seemed really fun. We planned to sit outside and wait, but another FYI, there isn't a waiting area with seats. Eddie was a delight and gave a thorough run through of instructions and what to expect, including jump scares and loud noises, and was super accommodating with our daughter's hypersensitivity to loud noises. The fact that he warned them in advance and gave options for this stuff was super. It went over an hour, not sure if that was planned or to give the kids a chance to finish. Either way, it was so nice for them to beat the room, and they all loved it! read more

My team went to Room Escapers as a team building activity and I was thrilled that everyone enjoyed themselves. We were a group of about 12 people so we did Organized Chaos. The scenario was set up so that everyone was able to help and no one felt like they were left out. When setting up our reservation, the process could not have been easier. I hate doing large group reservations because there always seems to be some kind of hassle, but this was easy peasy. I would love to go back and try some of the other rooms. I would also recommend this for anyone in need of a team building activity! read more

The owner Jeff, is friendly and awesome. Came here for my brother's birthday in a group of 10 and Jeff was very accommodating with us. We had a great time and even though it's not mandatory, my brother tipped him $20 because of his overall great service, friendliness and providing us with a wonderful experience. Recommended for small/big groups searching for an indoor team bonding. Time to use those brain cells on math problems, finding clues, and riddles! P.S. Very nice ! The owner is fantastic and super nice! The venue itself had everything you needed... Bathroom, some brain teasers to get you going, and very nice owner with great ability to tell the story. The place isn't huge, and it isn't a place you would stumble upon but if your plan is to do an escape room thing, this was does the trick. The activity itself is fun... Definitely takes some mental power and is super fun with a group of friends. The area is fantastic obviously, aside from being busy... And sometimes touristy... We had a great time. Our group has done escapade rooms all over the country and this one was quite good. We did the Organized Chaos and it was not a traditional escape room, it was more solve multiple crimes/puzzles which was a great spin on the whole idea. We loved it. My only comment is a couple of things did not open when we did things correctly, which held us up from completely solving it, but we are able to complete 90% of everything and had a great score when finished. I would highly recommend these guys! read more

I have been to a few escape rooms before and this one is AMAZING. Not only were the puzzles difficult (but solvable), but the theme was fun and the rooms were all well put together and decorated. My favorite part is the beginning (no spoilers, but it was a unique twist to the escape room genre). Jeff was fantastic! This escape room was well balanced, the theme was consistent and entertaining, and Jeff was an ideal host! I took a few friends here for a birthday, and we had a group of 4 to run through the Pirate's Booty II. Jeff was excited, committed, and super invested in making the experience here great. He really made a huge difference in setting the mood for the adventure and answering all of our questions after the escape, and was exceptionally tactful and appropriate in providing advice at the right points during our hour. The pirate theme, props, and atmosphere was exceptional here. You get hand lanterns, a clipboard and paper, and a bag with which to carry around any objects you need. The first puzzle was a bit challenging, but other than that, the clues were appropriately leading, and I loved the incorporation of the high quality "reference" book throughout the Adventure. I was really impressed with the commitment to the theme, and even with only 4 people, we had a great balance of enough different activities and collaboration to make every member of our group constantly engrossed. Jeff's enthusiasm, though, really tops the experience off, and I highly recommend it to see what a fervent enthusiast can offer to you. read more

I'm very happy that I booked this Escape Room for my sister's bachelorette party. I've done two escape rooms in Portland, ME but none of my sister's friends had ever done one. They LOVED it. At one point, my sister said "I don't want this to end!". The puzzles were challenging and Jeff, the host, gave us good hints when we weren't making any progress. Jeff was awesome. This was a BLAST! 5 of us ranging from age 12 to 59. Staff was incredibly helpful; they described the game clearly and gave clues when we needed help. Not gonna lie, the puzzles were difficult so we needed the clues. Once we figured things out, we enjoyed how clever they were designed. The pirate feel was a super cool twist. Time length of the game was perfect 1.5 hrs. (You can probably beat our time!) Others we've tried were simply too long. Overall such a fun time and we highly recommend!!!! read more

I wasn't sure what to accept when a group of friends and I headed to RoomEscapers last night , but it sounded fun, so decided to give it a shot. I'm so glad we did! We had a great time, and it is something fun and different to do. Your group has an hour to work together to solve riddles and puzzles to advance into the next room, then eventually "escape". The clues were well thought out and challenging, but not too hard that it becomes frustrating. The business owner, Jeff, is friendly and helpful. It's in a great location near the T, and Parcel 7 garage, which they validate for. I'd recommend this for all ages, and for locals and tourists. Great place! read more

We had the best time at RoomEscapers tonight! Eight of us got together for a 26th birthday and had a blast. The clues were very well done and we loved the pirate theme. It was also special that the theme was localized to New England, making it an even more unique experience. Jeff is personable, friendly, and completely accommodating. My friends and I had to change times, and when we emailed him, he responded promptly and said it was no problem. He was a great facilitator, and we were all happy to have met him. There's a good mix of puzzles, searching, and a little bit of math; for the most part, the game mechanics are pretty solid, and this is one of the only rooms I've done that has enough to keep a group of 5 or more occupied - so bring friends. Jeff, the owner and operator, is an awesome guy. We did the Naughty and Nice puzzle room with 10 family members from age 12 to 55. Everyone had a terrific time and were all able to contribute to the puzzle solving. The puzzles had a wide variety, and were related to each other so that one person solving a puzzle often helped someone else solve theirs. This was our first puzzle room, so we needed some hints to succeed, but it will not be our last. We loved the twist on this room that you had to break in to solve the puzzle. read more

Really solid escape room! Fun theme, a creative story, and a lot of satisfying puzzles (some of which involved technical gizmos that worked exactly as intended, at least one of which was a cool effect I'd never seen before). Our group of three teamed up with a family of five, and we finished with about 6 minutes left on the clock. Jeff's hinting was spot on, giving us nudges just when we were on the verge of getting frustrated, but not giving away answers before we had a chance to think for ourselves. Without giving too much away, I can confidently and enthusiastically recommend RoomEscapers. Whether is a friend's surprise party (as was my group's case) or a family outing or corporate team-buildling, Room Escapers will impress. Very much looking forward to returning in the winter as Jeff mentioned he was working on a Christmas-themed RoomEscape! It's in a very secure location (have to be buzzed in) as well; you can leave your bags and jackets in the "reception" area so you don't have anything hindering you from RoomEscaping! There's also a clean bathroom adjacent to the reception area. I recommend entering on the Blackstone Street side of the building; much easier to find that way (go downstairs one flight upon entering the building). read more

We've done both Pirates Booty II and Organized Chaos and found both to be some of the best rooms we've found in Boston. The atmosphere is immersive and the puzzles are challenging but logical. You'll tend towards many "ah-ha" moments when you finally get the elegant solution and kick yourself for missing it the first time around. We were able to get out of both under the time with a few supportive but not obvious clues. Overall, great experience. Highly recommend. read more

This is a one of a kind pirate themed escape room. I've played a dozen escape games and this is one of my favorite. I challenge anyone to find a pirate game with this level of amusement. I played this room with a mix of new and old friends. We all had a fantastic time solving the puzzles. Book a game with your family and friends. They're right of the historical freedom trail in Haymarket. Park at the Parcel 7 garage, they'll validate the parking fees down to only $1 an hour. read more

I called last minute to try to book a field trip because we were afraid our beach trip was going to be rained out. Jeff answered my email within 20mins with all the details I needed to know. I then called him to book it, to find out that they weren't open the times we needed to be there. Jeff told me that they would open specially for us, gave us a great school discount! A couple friends of mine were traveling in Budapest and came back with stories about the room-escape craze that is apparently super-popular there. Me, i didn't know what to expect of the whole thing; is it a secret door, a hidden room, is it sketchy or corporate? In this case, it is a clean, modern downstairs room in an old part of the city, ideally located to attract tourists from Quincy Market and the North End. It's not excessively in-character, really, and the theming of it is appropriate to the setting, but it's explicitly about the solving of the puzzle. Obviously giving things away is not going to happen, but there's seeking and finding, math problems, working out riddles, and lots of fun for a good handful of people all working at the same time. The host is very good natured and enthusiastic (and will cheerfully offer hints if you get truly stuck), and will make sure that you're having fun solving things. If you're looking for a fun rainy/snowy-day activity for adults or kids with a healthy attention span, this will suit you nicely indeed. read more

But they forgot to hide the last key, so we finished without solving the final puzzle! Also, the story could use a little work. I can't say enough about this adventure! I saw a Groupon and thought it would be a fun workplace event. Was it ever!! There were 9 of us, and I think it's definitely more fun the more people you have (max is 10). All of my coworkers loved it.
