I've never written a review before but after seeing what I saw I was disgusted, one of the customers brought it a dog and instantly every employee (even the ones working on coffee) ran over and started petting it and then right after they all went back to work, I love dogs too but its not sanitary to pet random dogs and serve food Thankfully the girl making mine didn't pet the dog but I just found that sickening and gross, they need to teach their employees better read more

Misleading signage resulted in them making a cold latte. Which I would not accept. Despite leaving a generous tip they made no offer to make a hot coffee instead. Rather they just threw their garbage in the trash. read more

Don't get me wrong, I love Rook Coffee, but during these crazy Covid and Flu times, I've noticed in every Rook I've bought coffee, the people behind the counter stick their fingers inside the cup when writing on the cup. Then they put their hand over the drinking cover. Some are also working the counter handling money while also handling the coffee. Just asking Rook to provide better hygiene training for its workers. read more

After I ordered I went to pay and apparently they don't coordinate with each other what you order, which I didn't know since this was my first time here so I pulled out my card and went to pay and the person at the counter says to me "What did you get? We have been huge advocates of Rook for years. It is hands down the best coffee. The 3 star review is specific to the customer service in Holmdel. When we lived down the shore, it was a pleasure to go to both Oakhurst locations or Little Silver. They were so friendly and fun, which is a no brainer to what that does for customer experience. Why are the employees at Holmdel so miserable? I hear this from other Rook lovers too. It's deterring us from going there, it's consistently awkward. I really hope someone looks into this issue. Also would be great if Rook comes to Aberdeen/Matawan. We love the coffee. read more

Love Rook cold brew. I would go out of my way to get it anywhere. That said, Im disappointed to say I see a change. I stopped at my local holmdel site last week mid afternoon. Not a busy day. It was organized chaos! Ordering used to be on the side of the store, away from the entrance. Made great sense. They've since moved all activities, ordering, pickup, app order pickup, purchasing to the short front counter directly in front of the entrance. As already stated.. chaos. And the entire left rear side of the space is completely unused. Customers play traffic cop to everyone that enters the store. 'Are you in line? Where is the line? Can I order here?' What were they thinking??? There were two customers there when I entered. No wait, right? Meanwhile five more piled in and my order was still never taken as others pondered what they would order while standing in front of the menu which now hangs directly over the short front counter. I left after 15 minutes disgusted without coffee. Wake up Rook... you had a good thing and you are ruining it!! read more

I am in town visiting from California, and was recommended Rook from a friend, as I'm always looking for Starbucks alternative. I was PLEASANTLY surprised! I ordered the New Orleans style cold brew, and it was delicious. They add chicory, which makes for a pleasant aftertaste and an overall mouthwatering coffee experience. Conner was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in explaining how Rook coffee works, and helped me order the best drink possible. Hope to see this coffee on the west coast soon! read more

Meh. I'll go out of my way to another location where the manager is nicer and the staff pays attention. Never a problem at Englishtown, Colts Neck, Oakhurst(big or little) to name a few. This place for some reason has stank. I've come back numerous times and each time ends with my questioning why I didn't just spend the extra time traveling to another location. read more

The lady behind the counter was so rude. It was our first time because we heard about it a lot but she gave us a terrible attitude the whole visit. She made ordering very complicated in all aspects. The coffee itself isn't that great the choices are very limited. I love coffee but I'd still recommend other places or Starbucks over this! read more

Definitely my favorite coffee place. The staff is very nice and attentive and I love the text to order option. I wish the hours were a little longer but no real complaints. Also you can get a stamp card that gets you a free coffee after 10 purchases. They've got good prices compared to Starbucks too. read more

Uninspired and expensive. This was my second trip to Rook where each cup is "hand-crafted." This means that of the 3 people working,one is actually making coffee and for 2 customers, this took 7-8 minutes. This time I asked for medium roast Colombian and it took me a few sips to realized that the flavor was flat and not the full bodied arabica i was expecting. If you want COFFEE there is no better place. The staff is amazing, friendly, prompt and efficent. None of all the other nonsense that you get from other coffee chains.. the New Orleans cold brew is phenomenal.
