Maybe I came at the wrong time of day (mid-afternoon, so certainly a possibility), but I just wasn't that impressed with this place. My Millennial Chum and I stopped by this past Saturday after a mediocre lunch down the street, hoping to redeem our palates with something sweet (and I'm always a strong proponent of drinking my calories if given the opportunity). Beyond the actual coffee, the environment within a coffeehouse to me is almost as important. And to be honest, I was a little uncomfortable in here. It was SUPER quiet when we walked in; you could literally hear a pin drop. I don't need to feel like I'm in a nightclub or anything, but some light ambience music would have helped. There were a solid handful of customers in there, and I felt like I had to whisper because it was that silent. It was like being late to a church service or something. Beyond that (and my chum disagreed with me about this, so I'd be curious about other opinions), it smelled musty, like a consignment shop. At the very least you'd expect the smell of freshly made coffee. Odd. Again, maybe it was just bad timing? I ordered a double shot toasted marshmallow latte with skim milk, and the Millennial Chum got an iced caramel macchiato. Mine was okay - it didn't have much of a kick to it, and the flavor was a little overwhelming. The flavor though is on me; ideally I like lavender in my lattes, which they didn't presently have in stock (though the guy behind the counter assured me it was on its way) so I tried something new for the first and last time. The Millennial Chum did not like her drink, claiming it wasn't actually a macchiato. To be fair though, she's a classic high maintenance Starbucks disciple and this is not the first time she's had this type of issue at a mom-and-pop coffee establishment. On the positive side, the service was excellent. The people behind the counter were very helpful/accommodating, and just super personable. My chum loved their complaint department joke display at the counter, which resulted in a conversation about its back story (and her insisting that I take a picture of it - enjoy). Very nice people, and because of that, I'd be willing to come back at a different time of day to try something else. The intangibles are there for sure. read more

Me and my coffee addiction seek out independent coffee shops and Keyport Coffee Cafe is my new love. Why? Because it hits all the notes for me. First, the coffee is fabulous, strong, smooth, and rich. The regular coffee, the espresso, the cold brew, and the nitro, you won't go wrong with any of them. Next is the food. The breakfast sandwiches are hearty and delicious. My bacon, egg, & cheese on a croissant wasn't skimpy, it was generously filled, and filling! They also offer lunch sandwiches, muffins, croissants, huge doughnuts, very large cookies, various pastries & even cake pops! It's a tough decision when all the pastries are on display, because everything is so tempting. The Cafe is comfortable with several different seating groups, from a table with chairs to a cozy sofa. Then there is the staff, friendly, welcoming, and just nice! I also like that the Cafe opens early each day at 7am so that I can get my fix early in the day, and if I need an afternoon pick-me-up, they're open until 5pm. As I'm finishing up my afternoon cold brew, I'm already contemplating my next visit and order...seriously, Keyport Coffee Cafe is the bomb! read more

The coffee was just okay. The one star was for the way they treated my friend who came in with her service dog. The conversation was so weird and aggressive that we left right away. There are plenty of coffee places that make much better coffee and allow service dogs. Sometimes an adjustment in tone and attitude make all the difference. read more

I've been here before, I guess when it was under different management/ownership? We were in the area picking up baked goods so we got some coffee from here. We ordered a 12 oz black coffee and a 16 oz oat milk latte. The latte was made by steaming the milk directly in the cup, and the espresso was poured in after. Never really seen it made that way but I'm sure it doesn't have that much of a difference on taste? Not super sure. But both of the drinks were very weak. The black coffee was almost convenience store level, though not overly roasted or burnt tasting. The oat milk latte was again weak, and the milk wasn't foamed enough to have that velvety texture you'd expect from a latte, even an oat milk one. Not the quality I would expect from a coffee shop. I wish I liked it more, as service was super friendly! read more

At first, she said that we weren't allowed to take photos, move the chairs in the store. I walked into this establishment with my husband and my service dog and the woman behind the counter, who was standing approximately 25 feet away, screamed NO DOGS, NO DOGS!!! I kindly asked, no service dogs? (Our dog is an ADA registered service dog.) The woman's reply was, "well why is this dog a service dog, for what reason"? in front of the patrons in the store and from a long distance. At that point we left the shop. I will never visit here again nor will I recommend this place to another patron. I am part of a referral business that goes to different towns and reviews coffee/cafes products and services. Sadly, I never was able to drink the coffee here and as for the service, well you can only imagine. SHAME ON YOU MAM!!! I am always looking for small local places rather than big chains to support small business owners and this place does not disappoint. Stopped in with my husband last weekend and a super nice man (think he was the owner) helped us. Told us about the items and was pleased to find out they do their own baking. Our drinks were great. We got a cookie and scone and were not disappointed. They also have hot cocoa bombs, took one to go and was happy with that as well. If you step outside and cross the street there a beautiful views.
