Fresh, delicious and absolutely worth the wait! They have a sign that says "we don't toast the bagel unless you ask" which is always a sign of a quality bagel. Got an egg, cheese and avocado (yes they have avocado) on an everything bagel untoasted and then a side of macaroni salad. Mac salad was good but very mayo forward (to be expected but more than I would have liked). The bagel was perfection! read more

Best bagels in Jersey. I know I'm from nyc and it's all in the water. Tried so many other places nearby and none compare to this literal mom and pop shop!! Owners are also so friendly and lovely to see each visit. read more

We have been on the hunt for good bagels near hazlet and have fell short every time. This place was a big no for us. Not just for taste and food but customer service as well. No one was friendly or welcoming. The whole experience was just very transactional and seemed kind of rude. It was our first time there so we wanted to take a few moments to get to know the menu. There was no one else in the entire place but we were rushed the entire time. Then we got the food. Although the menu shows one price.. we were charged another and it was more expensive than advertised with no explanation as to why. Bagels are not good or fresh at all. They are so ti y and hard. We got 4 sandwiches and all the sandwiches were so skimpy. 1 egg on each sandwich and 1 slice of cheese for almost $5 is insane to me. There was absolutely no flavor at all. We will not be coming back and I advise others to stay away. We will continue our hunt for good bagel shops!! read more

Truly amazing! We always stop here for a pork roll egg and cheese when we visit the area from Boston. The owners are also so kind. A must stop! read more

Quality bagels with your classic pleasant chew. Exterior has crisp bubbles that are as aesthetically pleasing as they are indicative of the quality. Flavorful. Shop is small and run by an old couple, service is very friendly. Highly recommended if you're near. The local small chain, Gem's, is quite good but this is a step above that. Has a good variety of classic bagels. I think their egg bagels either have more yolk than normal or a little dye (due to the color) but great regardless. read more

Stop by this morning to grab a breakfast sandwich. Ordered a sausage egg and cheese on a roll and it ended up being $7.43. Very expensive in my opinion especially considering they only provided one egg. I won't be back. read more

Old Time Bagels - sausage, egg and cheese on a roll - Bagels Near Me - Hazlet, New Jersey

Little bagel shop conveniently located on Route 35 northbound side for anyone headed in the direction of the Parkway exit. The couple who I assume were the owners were very friendly, they really seemed to enjoy running their shop and interacting with the customers. My egg bagel was delicious, great flavor. They're generous with the cream cheese too! The bagels weren't quite as huge as some other places I've been to, but it's more about quality, not quantity. This location has been several different bagel joints over the years. I really hope this one stays! read more

Family run small business, friendly and worth the wait if busy. Try their cream cheeses (walnut raisin) or their lunch sandwiches (roast beef made on premises). Great bagels and great breakfast sandwiches as well. read more

Quaint small place right off the highway with parking up front. We were in the area and decided to pop in after reading some cool Yelp reviews. We were on our way to the beach on a Saturday morning and although the parking lot and area seemed odd-somewhat deserted and/or desolate, the bagel shop/deli was pretty busy with what appeared to belie a few regulars. The staff greeted us with a friendly smile and took our order right away. They were more than pleasing and seemed to really appreciate their customers. We ordered a few bacon egg and cheese bagels and coffees. No pancakes but all was just fine. Bagels were good and tasty, however, they were smallEr than expected. I guess I'm accustomed to my local bagel shop where the bagels are huge!! Anyhow - my thighs appreciated having a lil less dough on them . I wouldn't go out of my way to return here ONLY due to the area. Odd crowd and just not my scene. Good service, good food and nice staff. read more

I was there to order something, people kept coming behind me and they would attend to them and ignore me standing first in line. I walked away. I don't want to call the term of what I felt there. You decide. I put 1 star because yelp wont allow me to do zero. read more

Old Time Bagels - Sausage egg and cheese on plain bagel, SPK - Bagels Near Me - Hazlet, New Jersey

Definitely the best bagels in my area in New Jersey. I went one Saturday around 1pm to try them however they were closed despite a lot open sign in the window. As I sat in my car in front looking for another place to go a woman came out with an apron on holding a bag. I asked if they were closed she said yea but what are you looking to get. I said just a few bagels. She hands me the bag through my car window and said "not sure what kind of bagels are in here but you can have them". Well thank you!!! I took these home and they were pretty dam good. Crispy outside and fluffy inside. I was shocked. I went next week and picked them up again in the early morning and they came out super fresh hot. I finally found a good bagel spot in jersey. Yay. These are a must try if you're in the area. read more

Stopped in to by half a dozen bagels. Bagels are made in house and have a nice soft inside and a great outside chew. I was happy to see they had a few egg bagels left. I picked all four egg bagels and two sesame, then found out they offer a baker's half dozen, and picked one more! They didn't seem to have a great selection of cream cheeses and other various spreads, but the bagels were damn good! read more

I stayed at the nearby holiday inn and wanted to see what Hazlet had to offer for bagels. I'm originally from NY so I take my bagels seriously and Old Time did not disappoint. BEC with SPK on an everything bagel: it was delicious and exactly what I was looking for. Not the best breakfast sandwich or bagel I've ever had (and I've had a lot) but it hit the spot. read more

Walking in we were greeted by the owners, lovely couple! They make their own bagels on site, and have a good selection. They are so good. Soft and chewy where you want it, they are also the perfect size. My husband suggested to my son to try the pork roll (Taylor Ham), something we can't get at home. They had egg, ham, cheese on a bagel. When my son opened his sandwich he said, oh wow! After his fist bite he asked if we could move here. A ringing endorsement! I had lox, perfectly cut, paper thin, with a smear, capers, and tomato. There is a small eat in area which we used. While sitting there we noticed how each Shriner was warmly greeted, good mornings and inquiries about family members who weren't there. One person even showed baby pics. A very friendly charming place. It isn't fancy, it's like home. read more

Excellent bagels and very nice owners. Another perk and something g that you do not see very often is that they hand slice the Nova, which is very good. Try a bagel with nova and cream cheese. Very very good. read more

Really good bagel. Had a toasted onion bagel with veggie cream cheese and lox. Was super good and fresh.

This place encourages you to order multiple bagels at a slight discount and freebies after so many. The bagels have a really good texture and the CREAM CHEESE. Fresh bagels and friendly service.... Not a lot of other requirements for success. Dinged one star for lack of the fu-fu designer bagels now common in other places (no whole wheat everything or low carb!) but they have the "standard assortment" all made in house. Love going here. Since this place outlasted a Dunkin Donuts and is now slowly and steadily competing with Tim Horton's, they are resilient for a reason. They are great! I guess they are a husband and wife team and they are nice. Why get a frozen bagel from TH when you can get one made this morning, for cheaper and tastier? It's a no brainer. Been here twice in two weeks. Can't wait to go back. They have tables and chairs for dine in. Assorted bottled drinks and your standard sandwiches. read more

The bagels here are fresh and the ladies that work there are friendly. Best bagel with cream cheese I had in awhile. We also got plain bagel with egg, cheese, and bacon. That one was good too. I've only been here a couple times in the two decades I've lived in Hazlet, but I need to come more often. The bagels are great. Have a nice crunch on the outside, yet are soft on the interior. Service was very friendly. Large coffee and a bagel came to $3. Can't go wrong. read more

Hands down my favorite bagel/ sandwich/ pastry shop. I go here every Saturday morning. The owners know me by name and pretty much know what I want when I walk in.
