We have been on the hunt for good bagels near hazlet and have fell short every time. This place was a big no for us. Not just for taste and food but customer service as well. No one was friendly or welcoming. The whole experience was just very transactional and seemed kind of rude. It was our first time there so we wanted to take a few moments to get to know the menu. There was no one else in the entire place but we were rushed the entire time. Then we got the food. Although the menu shows one price.. we were charged another and it was more expensive than advertised with no explanation as to why. Bagels are not good or fresh at all. They are so ti y and hard. We got 4 sandwiches and all the sandwiches were so skimpy. 1 egg on each sandwich and 1 slice of cheese for almost $5 is insane to me. There was absolutely no flavor at all. We will not be coming back and I advise others to stay away. We will continue our hunt for good bagel shops!! read more

Quality bagels with your classic pleasant chew. Exterior has crisp bubbles that are as aesthetically pleasing as they are indicative of the quality. Flavorful. Shop is small and run by an old couple, service is very friendly. Highly recommended if you're near. The local small chain, Gem's, is quite good but this is a step above that. Little bagel shop conveniently located on Route 35 northbound side for anyone headed in the direction of the Parkway exit. The couple who I assume were the owners were very friendly, they really seemed to enjoy running their shop and interacting with the customers. My egg bagel was delicious, great flavor. They're generous with the cream cheese too! The bagels weren't quite as huge as some other places I've been to, but it's more about quality, not quantity. Quaint small place right off the highway with parking up front. We were in the area and decided to pop in after reading some cool Yelp reviews. We were on our way to the beach on a Saturday morning and although the parking lot and area seemed odd-somewhat deserted and/or desolate, the bagel shop/deli was pretty busy with what appeared to belie a few regulars. The staff greeted us with a friendly smile and took our order right away. They were more than pleasing and seemed to really appreciate their customers. We ordered a few bacon egg and cheese bagels and coffees. No pancakes but all was just fine. Bagels were good and tasty, however, they were smallEr than expected. I guess I'm accustomed to my local bagel shop where the bagels are huge!! Anyhow - my thighs appreciated having a lil less dough on them . Definitely the best bagels in my area in New Jersey. I went one Saturday around 1pm to try them however they were closed despite a lot open sign in the window. As I sat in my car in front looking for another place to go a woman came out with an apron on holding a bag. I asked if they were closed she said yea but what are you looking to get. I said just a few bagels. She hands me the bag through my car window and said "not sure what kind of bagels are in here but you can have them". Well thank you!!! I took these home and they were pretty dam good. Crispy outside and fluffy inside. I was shocked. I went next week and picked them up again in the early morning and they came out super fresh hot. I picked all four egg bagels and two sesame, then found out they offer a baker's half dozen, and picked one more! Walking in we were greeted by the owners, lovely couple! They make their own bagels on site, and have a good selection. They are so good. Soft and chewy where you want it, they are also the perfect size. My husband suggested to my son to try the pork roll (Taylor Ham), something we can't get at home. They had egg, ham, cheese on a bagel. When my son opened his sandwich he said, oh wow! After his fist bite he asked if we could move here. A ringing endorsement! I had lox, perfectly cut, paper thin, with a smear, capers, and tomato. There is a small eat in area which we used. While sitting there we noticed how each Shriner was warmly greeted, good mornings and inquiries about family members who weren't there. One person even showed baby pics. This place encourages you to order multiple bagels at a slight discount and freebies after so many. The bagels have a really good texture and the CREAM CHEESE. Love going here. Since this place outlasted a Dunkin Donuts and is now slowly and steadily competing with Tim Horton's, they are resilient for a reason. They are great!
