Such a great bagel spot! What I appreciate the most is that when most locations close early, this bagel store is open most of the day. Bagels are delicious, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. We tried their sesame bagel with cream cheese and also a bacon egg & cheese on an everything bagel. We liked their food so much we brought some friends visiting from Cali to try it and they enjoyed it. Service is fast & friendly. Plenty of seating and parking. This spot was a great place for food and even sit to talk with another person or get some work done. I was disappointed today at the appearance of the establishment. The colors no longer cover the lack of cleanliness. As most they are also experiencing a price increase. Which is understandable. The lack of cleanliness is not. I previously ignored the irritation of the workers when I would point to an unmarked salad in their display window. They have very good options for breakfast - bagels , sandwiches , eggs , omelette etc.. .. they have many bagel choices - poppy , everything etc .. and lots of cream cheese options . It was crowded : there were 5-7 people helping all customers. Took a longggggg time to even reach to order the breakfast ! Slowwww service .. took us 30-45 mins to order and deliver our breakfast ... For all the hype bagel boy gets, it is not worth the wait for the service. I placed an order online bc they don't take phone orders. Walk in and watched prob about 15 people order and walk out with their orders. It took 30 minutes to get my order and when I received it the roll was completely BURNT AND BLACK. Are you kidding me?! We have paid extra in the past for bacon and did not receive it, but we tried this again and was sorely disappointed. Paying $20 for two sandwiches is just not worth the hype anymore. However, the avocado was burnt, and there was very little avocado, along with a heavy amount of tomatoes and onions, which were likely used to disguise how burnt it was. Upon ordering the guy was rude (short bold with tattoos on his arms) and he messed up my order and was charged for the missing items. I'm extremely disappointed I never given such a low score but today did it. First the lady at the register was short and not friendly at all. Seem stressed out because we changed one bagel request from a plain to French toast. She then turns around tells the young man to change my bagel from a plain to French toast. Well I get my order and still they gave me plain instead of the French toast. Previously to this my husband request his sandwich to be a certain way I can't recall what he requested and still they gave him what he did not request. Pls pay attention to details we are paying you for what we requested not how you want to make it. Pls fix this it's extremely frustrating. Stopped by on the way to NY. Not horrible but def had better in area. The bottoms look Fake & the Dough is pretty dense & too bread like . When thinking about the staple foods of the NY/NJ area, you think of Bagels and Pizza. While a breakfast pizza would have been a savory idea now that I think about it, I was certainly very pleased with the bagels from this cafe. The dough of the bagels we tried was very well done. They offer a wide variety of spreads for your bagels as well along with sandwiches etc for lunch as well. If you have a certain bagel in mind, I'd recommend coming early though as this is a popular establishment and some bagels may run out quickly. Unfortunately, even though we arrived around 9am, two of the bagels we wanted, French toast and Blueberry, were already out. Would have loved to try those, but was very happy with the others we got in our set. I used to live in Old Bridge but moved to upstate NY. When I lived in Old Bridge I always went to Bagel Boy. When I moved I made sure to visit Bagel Boy on my trips back home to visit my parents and other family. Then one time, I stopped at Bagel Boy and realized that the everything bagel I got was only coated on one side. What the hell was this? I then switched to Manhattan Bagel in Sayreville. Their everything bagels had toppings on both sides. This past weekend I came back to NJ for a visit. My wife asked if we're stopping for bagels before we get to my parents' house. I said yes. She asked, "Bagel Boy?" I said sure. The traffic was horrendous and I decided to forget about the bagels and just go to my parents. After the initial meet and greet my wife asked if we could go get bagels. So, off we went taking a different route this time to avoid traffic. I ordered an everything bagel with chive cream cheese. My wife ordered a few different bagels as she likes to sample a lot of different things. Well, the everything bagel was light in color. I like them dark but we came an hour before they closed so I couldn't be picky. I separated the top and bottom and took my first bite. Wow! It's been a few years since I've had a Bagel Boy bagel and I forgot what I had been missing. First, despite the light coloring of the bagel, it still had a nice little crunch to it. The chive cream cheese was phenomenal. I could actually taste the chive. Most places here in upstate NY, you might as well just get plain cream cheese. You can't taste the chive. And then the thing that sealed the deal was the chewy interior of the bagel. Again, WOW! It was like eating heaven. I enjoyed that bagel so much that I went up and got a few for home. Oh, and despite the fact that I don't think there was enough everything topping on the bagel (and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5) it still was the tastiest bagel I've had in a long time. If they didn't have everything bagels I would have been totally satisfied with a plain bagel. So there you go. From now on, when I'm in back in NJ, I'm stopping at Bagel Boy. I'm just going to make sure I get there earlier and get some dark everything bagels. read more

I first tried bagel boy because they have vegan cream cheese and bagel shops NEVER have vegan options. The restaurant is on my way to work and I stop in about once a week. The staff is incredibly friendly, they make you feel like family. I walked in one morning and a staff member recited my order before I even spoke, that meant a lot! And the food is *always* good, I've never had a bad bagel from bagel boy. They also have a large assortment of drinks to choose from. Overall, 5 stars isn't enough. The staff is wonderful, the food is wonderful, and the ambiance is wonderful. Side note: I'm super confused seeing any negative reviews. Bagels are the best around by far. However, the customer service is unfortunately lacking. There is a large staff on hand but most are, what appears to be taking care of the phone/website orders. I've been in extensive lines in which people are becoming frustrated due to the lack of movement of the line. I timed it today and there were seven people ahead of me. It took me 22 minutes to get my two bagels. I'm quickly losing my neediness for bagels. My two cents - There should be a staff to wait on the customers in side the store and a staff to prepare the phone/website orders. It's disappointing that the entire staff (owner included) is losing focus on the customers at hand since it's them who helped make the business what it is today. read more

Yes, this place is extremely over priced for a bagel, and yes the staff can be rude at times. However, if you are from the area and you know a good bagel when you taste one, you know this is the only place your spending your money on for a bagel outside of NYC. Great bagels and bialys toasted. This place is very popular and most crowded on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Their cream cheese and spreads are delicious. Their baked goods like carrot cakes and chocolate brownies are very good too. The best time to go with the least wait is in the afternoons. They are open from 5:00am to 5:00pm which is really convenient. The staff is nice and accommodating. Their hot coffee is very good too. A little bit more expensive than I expected, but worth it on special occasions when you need a quick dozen bagels. It's good to get a sandwich there to eat in at their tables or to take out. read more
