Loved the entire experience. The food is comfort food galore. The waitress was delightful and chatted with us a little. Had a shake for dessert, Papa Bear and banana, so yummy! Right next door is the owners sons taco place. They are connected so they will let you order from the taco side from here and eat it while your companion eats from Roni's menu. I used Roni's for a catering order on July 23, 2019 and it was amazing. I called and told him (David is his name) that we wanted a "nachos bar." He provided 3 proteins, rice, beans and all of the yummy toppings. Honestly, he went above and beyond with all of the toppings. There was everything from onions to black olives to jalapenos to an amazing salsa and more! While strolling down Santa Monica Boulevard in the April twilight, my friend Saroun and I stumbled upon Roni's. We were greeted warmly by the charming Romeo, the manager, and were so impressed that we came back for dinner later that night. Here's what I heartily devoured: Poggio Bosso Chianti - Not sure on the year (2006?), but this sensuous red substance enhanced by meal immaculately. Rosada with Shrimp - Penne gently boiled, then served with mushrooms and tomatoes in a pink sauce. I chose to add shrimp for an additional charge, and was so glad I did. At least ten shrimps, maybe more, waltzed among the pasta. Not a morsel was left, except for the tails. Chicken Tetrazzini- Saroun ordered it, and it was a linguine spiced with utmost care. The chicken on this was divine. Possibly free-range, it tasted that fresh. Garlic Knots - Tasty, and not too doughy or rough, but just right. The atmosphere is fun and casual, with three large flat screen TVs. Vintage black-and-white photos adorn one wall, whilst two large framed posters possess the other. Burgundy pleather seats create banquettes along the walls, ending in a booth at the bay windows on either side of the front door. Our server, Claire, was very sweet and extremely attentive. Their prices are astoundingly good for Beverly Hills. There is metered street parking up and down Santa Monica. I will be returning to try their breakfast items at some point, and I also want to try their "I Swear She's Not Drunk Mixed Berry Cake." Yes, it's really called that. read more

I'm eating a sandwich from here right now. I am working late, and until about 10 minutes ago I was so incredibly hungry. When I graciously was comped dinner, I ordered Eva's Grilled Chicken Club sandwich from Roni's. I pushed aside my documents and eagerly awaited my feast. Well, first of all, my sandwich was falling apart when I got it, and true I did order take out, but maybe wrapping it in napkins instead of a box or wax paper was a bad idea, Roni. But I quickly overlooked that in favor of my long-awaited dinner. Folks, this sandwich tastes like they slapped an $9 price tag on a Burger King chicken sandwich. I'm talking insipid, pale tomatoes, iceberg (gah) lettuce, dry chicken, and about 3 tablespoons of mayo all on a sesame seed bun. Yes, a sesame seed bun, that was on par with the 8-packs you get from Safeway where your fingers dig holes into the tops while biting your sandwich. On another note, my side salad is totally one of those bagged iceberg/shredded carrots/shredded purple cabbage deals. I don't mind that, really, but for almost $5 it's not worth it. Everything about working late sucks already (except overtime, I guess), but when dinner is a disappointment, too, the whole day is a wash. Roni is the crazy, very friendly (if you get me) older gentelman who owns Roni's Diner. He is adorable. You can usually spot him sitting infront of the diner chatting with everyone who walks in or by. He knows anything and everything about everyone on the block (prehaps all of Beverly Hills). And its because he's kinda nosey, but in that endearing, I wanna know what you're all about way. If there was a true celebrity in Beverly Hills, in my eyes, then it's gotta be Roni. (Although, word of warning, he's kinda got crazy politically incorrect view on womens lib. I think his divorce got the best of him. lol.) It just recently expanded and now has a wine selection. My favorite dish is the Lemon chicken, which is good. The Pizza's are made NY style and the place is really affordable, for BH. It was girls night out. We started at my friend's place and then decided that we were in need of nourishment so we went for a walk to see if Roni's would meet our needs -- boy, it did. Our first order of business was to order wine. We opted for a bottle, since we were walked that night. Our waiter Romeo consulted with David (Roni's son) of which to recommend. He brought us out 2 bottles and we chose the one that hadn't even made it to the menu yet. (And as a wine snob, their prices per bottle are not what I would expect in Beverly Hills, very very reasonable for excellent wine.) We had bruschetta for an appetizer. It was divine. I would come back if only for this dish (and wine), but I promise you there more to love at Roni's. The menu is big, lots of choices. We went with the Cheeseburger Meatloaf and Fish and Chips. My friend and I had decided to share dishes because we couldn't choose just one, there was always something else that popped out and said try me! The Fish and Chips were just right. Not too much bread, fried perfectly. The tartar sauce (which I must admit, I don't normally like) was incredible. It was spicy and no where near the mayonnaisey taste I usually expect when I see tartar sauce. The Cheeseburger Meatloaf was delicious. I think this is only the 2nd time in my life I have had meatloaf (Mom never cooked it because she didn't like it herself) and I think this is one that even Mom would like. Then came the dessert. It was awesome, brownie sundae. I can't remember the name and I don't have the menu with me, but I do know that they are named after David's ex-girlfriend. :) The staff is very friendly. We were able to have conversations with both David and Romeo. It was a real find to discover in BH a place, that is a neighborhood hangout. We will come back for we just found our new hangout! Seriously gross...I will never go back again. We were headed for Joss but didn't realize that it's closed on Mondays; since we were already in the area, we decided to give Roni's a try. Most of my party ordered salads, and apparently they were alright. We all shared an order of tater tots and they were stuck together in unappetizing clumps. I ordered the fish & chips (with sweet potato fries) and it was one of the worst fish & chips I've ever had. The fish batter was not light and crispy the way it should be and the fish was tough and hard to chew. I didn't particularly care for the overly seasoned sweet potato fries either. I've never been to be brick and mortar location for Roni's but I requested for them to cater for for my office. They catering option was very simple and easy. They easily took my order and brought it to the office via EatClub. My staff couldn't be more impressed with the food options. From Italian garlic roll balls to rolled ham and turkey, also green salad and hard-boiled eggs. The food was awesome. If you're looking for great healthy and Italian dining options for lunch or dinner for yourself or your office I would highly recommend this place. read more

If we were dressed better I think we would have gotten better service. Because the richer looking couple that came in after us did and did. There was not a soul there until we stumbled upon the place. I know why. My salad was awful. The lettuce was a shredded pile a la bag of lettuce from Taco Bell. I had 6 tiny cubes of chicken on top to make it a BBQ chicken salad. If anyone had the care to ask us how things were I would have sent it back. But I felt almost bad bothering them since they were socializing and pampering the other patrons. Lastly, a put a piece of the rotten avocado they had the audacity to put in the salad on my boyfriends plate to see what he would do. He had no idea what it was. Because Avocados are not supposed to be black. Roni's does not care. They serve the avocado black. Ew. They were out of both beers I wanted and we just really had an awful experience. I will never go here again and will discourage anyone from going here whether they ask about it or not. I expected so much more out of this place. It looks great inside and out, but the food was way below average. I was VERY disappointed in the fish and chips. I could've sworn it was van de camps (no joke). My friend had some soup, he wasn't too happy about that either. Roni's is a great place for a laid back lunch. It is adorable! They have outdoor seating that is perfect on a bright sunny California day. When you walk inside you see pictures of old movie stars all over the walls. It just oozes Beverly Hills. The service was good and very fast. While eating here it seems that the waiters and a guy who I think was the owner seemed to know almost everyone in the place. They had a real down to earth home like feel. That alone in a big city is amazing! They even invited the mailman to come eat! My boyfriend ordered a hamburger and I ordered a sandwich. We both left full and happy. No complaints. This isn't your fancy pants high end typical Beverly Hills place. It's real people and I love the feel of it. If I am in Beverly Hills in the near future I will be stopping by again. read more

Yes, there's still a place on the Westside-ish you can get a couple eggs, bacon, toast and coffee for what a couple eggs, bacon, toast and coffee should actually cost. Well it's difficult to give a fair and balanced critique or opinion of the place when the two times we have tried to go here for a late supper at 9 or shortly thereafter they have been closed. This when it clearly states on their YELP profile that they serve until 10pm! The response we got from the female staff member was that the owner forgot to change the hours on the website to 9pm. This may or may not be true but regardless I am certain we are not the only people who use YELP or the WEB to see if a place is open for dinner, late or otherwise. If it's 10 stay open until 10. If it is 9 then change it already. But inconsistency in this business be it with food, service or hours will surely summon the death rattle of a business that is waning and on the way out. Loved this wonderful hole-in-the-wall! Amazing chicken parmigiano sandwiches and super fresh salads. Great desserts, too! Our waiter (with a very nice Macedonian accent) was so friendly and helpful that we came back a few hours later for dessert after our friend's play a few blocks away. I love this place. Total neighborhood restaurant complete with some interesting characters and regulars. I work nearby so I go quite often. I've tried quite a few things on the menu. Favorites so far are the BMT in a wrap, the Lean Out 2X2 breakfast scramble and the cobb salad. I also love their pizza's, not too thick or thin crust, amazing sauce and fresh toppings. Burger and tuna mett are quite delicious as well. They also serve beer and wine. My favorite is the Moretti. I have gotten to know pretty much all of the day time servers and have to say it's the best part about going here. They are hilarious! Metered parking on the street. read more

First off, I wish we could do half stars. Roni's was better than a 3 but not quite a 4 for me. I visited Roni's last week with my BFF. In our time living in LA and driving past this cute looking diner numerous times we had never been. We arrived around 6PM during the week and while there were people inside eating it wasn't packed. We were immediately greeted and offered a table. The place is pretty small...a small bar area (with seating) and tables lining both walls, but it's cozy and they have 3 huge TVs mounted on all interior walls, which was great because the Orlando V. Boston game was on =) For my entree I chose their pastrami sandwich. I love pastrami and was definitely hoping for something super delish! Well....not quite. It was tasty, but not fantastic (Langers and Johnnie's remain my favorites!!!). The sandwich was served on toasted Rye with mustard and sliced dill pickles. The combination was good, but the pastrami was a bit tough/over cooked and some parts were even a bit crispy. But I don't dwell...they have a good variety on the menu and the service was quick and super friendly! The restaurant is clean and the owners/managers seemed to know everyone that came in! It really has that vibe of the neighborhood diner between regular diners and some regulars doing take out. I appreciated that they knew people by name and even made us "newbies" feel at home. While I didn't fall in love with the sandwich I did enjoy the great service and ambiance. They have a pretty vast menu so I'll definitely be back! read more

Not a fan. I worked across the street for years and this was one of the only places near by. The food is actually pretty bad (and I eat almost anything)... and the service is poor. Nothing on the menu seems to come with anything. They tell you you can "add a salad or fries" but they don't tell you that it's an extra $3 or $4 to do so. Okay, The Honor Bar may have the best chicken sandwich in town but these guys, hands-down have the best burger around! Seriously, it's kind of magical. Fairly large burger, I'm guessing a half pound patty; moist and seasoned perfectly, creamy garlic-y coleslaw, smashed avocado, house pickled red onions that melt in your mouth, cheddar cheese and served on the softest sesame seed bun. I have issues with gluten and could order it wrapped in lettuce but the bun is that good! And since I live in the neighborhood, I've been here several times and everything is pretty damn good; entrées, breakfast, salads... Big portions and great prices, especially for the area. It was delicious (the asparagus was not stiff, as many many places mess that up, so I really appreciated that) but SO SMALL!!!! Or maybe I'm just too hungover?? Incredible goat cheese. Side of mixed vegetables was sadly undercooked :( Would definitely go back because it's so FRESH and they have a lot of omelettes that I'm into. Prices would be considered pretty decent if they would give you more omelettes and not just a little puddle of eggs and stuff. EDIT: Have gone back twice to get the cajun blackened salmon for dinner - SOOOOOOOO GOOD! I lived in New Orleans for four years, and anything labeled "Cajun" really grabs my attention.
