Was trying to find a quick place to eat and came upon this place. Wasn't sure what to think as I was walking up, but I'm glad we gave it a shot. Got a club and an Italian sandwich. Portion sizes were huge and the Sammie's were just delicious! Only here for one more day, but hubby is insisting we go back so he can try the steak sandwich! All the employees were just great as well! I'm definitely adding this to my places to visit for my next return trip to Boston! Highly recommend!! read more

Rondo's is a local mom and pop shop and has been a Southie staple for decades along with good ol' Liberty Bell back in the day for those who remember those beefs and steak and cheeses!!! Rondo's has one of the best steak and cheese in Boston and it never disappoints. The service is always quick and friendly and their portions are great for the price. Whenever I crave a steak and cheese, this is my go to place due to its consistency. Get the steak bomb and add whatever fixings to your liking. Enjoy it there for the best experience, but it still keeps well if you take it to go! They have a small eating area with a few tables, but it is usually easy to get a table since many people get takeout or eat quickly. read more

Very disappointed. I decided to take a chance and order a Chicken Parm. When they presented it to me the provolone cheese was not melted on top of the sub. Instead it has been jammed into the side and had probably not received any heat whatsoever. This is the type of job I would have done 20 years ago when I worked the college late night shift. -1 star When I asked them to melt the cheese again they added more marinara for some reason. -1 star When I asked them to put it back in the oven, the got all huffy and said it was "too late". They then grudgingly did not put it in the oven but for an unexplained reason put it on the grill. -1 star By the time I received it I was so annoyed and felt that I wasted 11 dollars. I'm going to give them another chance though. read more

Bourdain never steers me wrong, even after all these years. Rondo's is the defintion of a mom and pop shop, with the charm, atmosphere, service, and prices to match. I got a large steak bomb for 12 bucks and split it with my guy. It was plenty of food for us both. The sub is made fresh right there and the flavor is out of this world. Get the steak and cheese! The people in there are so nice and it seems like it's been a family business for a long time. They make great subs, especially the steak and cheese. The number of people I saw around eating it was not surprising because it's so good. They add in lettuce, mayo, tomatoes, and peppers if you want! You can customize it however you want. OMG. This place rocks on so many levels. Totally a mom and pop/family place that does not disappoint. First off, you've got to love that the patriarch of the place was playing around and saying hi to the two young kids that were brought in by some mother. A plus with that neighborhood vibe. The lady taking my order was super nice and asked if I wanted something else besides what comes on the large steak bomb I ordered. Didn't even consider add anything. I asked for some hot peppers which is so lacking at sub shops in Los Angeles. And now for the food! Sooooo good. Cheesy, full of mushrooms and peppers and grilled onions. And the bread is a soft and thin and doesn't make a sub taste like all bread at some places. The steak and all the ingredients were wolfed down. No way was there leftovers even though I could have. The only thing better is if they were opening a Rondo's in LA. Here's to another reason to visit family in Boston during the holidays. Can't wait. Pastrami, Meatball, Italian...etc awaits. We were staying near the Southie neighborhood for business, and saw that this place was within walking distance from our hotel. It's a nice mom and pop shop with tasty steak and cheese and meatball subs. The portions are fairly generous for the price, and the bread was nice and soft but still able to hold all the fillings. As we were eating our food we saw plenty of regular local customers stop by. Would definitely come back! read more

Hidden gem in southie right down the street from Broadway T redline station. Fast, friendly service. A local favorite but also very busy lunch crowd from Transportation workers to construction workers to Police officers. Steak and Cheese sub is a crowd favorite. This place is fantastic for steak subs. $10.50 for a large Steak Combo? Yes please. Parking can be an issue so keep that in mind. Employees there are very friendly and blazingly fast when they're working. The sub itself was great. Steak was well seasoned and the size was unbeatable considering how packed with fillings it was! Lived in Boston for 5 years and just moved, I'm a flight attendant and have a layover here, never been to Rondos but holy moly I was missing out, currently devouring the steak combo (steak,cheese,mushrooms,onion,pepper) with a side of fries. Great old school vibes but the steak and cheese sub was soggy (twice)! I came here a couple of years ago for a steak & cheese sub after reading good reviews - I was not impressed as it was soggy and fairly tasteless. Happened to be in the area last week and decided to give it another shot. The older gentleman behind the counter who took my order was lovely. However, once again, the steak and cheese (this time with mushrooms, pepper, onions for added flavor) was soggy and the additions didn't help flavorwise - it was bland. I took it to go so I could eat it in my car and it the bread was falling apart from being so soggy. The kicker was when I saw the purchase on my credit card bill for $13.04 - that seems higher than the price on the in store board so it seems they added some type of fee. Best stop I made in Boston. On any trip. Ever. Family owned & operated. Made fresh in front of you. No fuss. Say what you want and make room for the next person in line. This spot is full of local, neighborhood folks, firemen & cops. If you need more than that, you definitely need to move on. Saw this driving by my first time in South Boston. Made sure to circle back as it was obvious it was gonna be good. After ordering my "don't call it a Philly" Steak Combo and my wife got a tuna sandwich, she told me this place was well reviewed. Judging by the packed lobby with standing room only I didn't need the reviews. I knew it was gonna be great. What I didn't know was it was gonna be THIS GREAT! Outstanding! I realize in Boston you should opt for regional specialties like 'chowdah' and 'lobstah.' Still, my curiosity was piqued by a "Philly" shop in the middle of downtown Boston. And I wasn't feeling any particular flavor at the time, so... here we go! The cheesesteak was surprisingly good, overfilled and tasty! My only complaint: the meat needed more seasoning. Had I known this, I would have added a little S&P on my own, but I didn't know, so I didn't grab any. Oh well, it was still decent. More cheese? Yeah, maybe, but it wasn't devoid of any. Grilled onions? If you ask, you shall receive! And I mean, a bunch of them! The roll was also good. It was close to an Amarosa's from Philly. Maybe not exact, but close. And the fries were surprisingly good, for what I assume came from a freezer directly into the fryer. They still had a nice crunchy exterior and a soft/fluffy interior. If you ask for ketchup, there is a communal bottle with the hand germs of a thousand locals and tourists. I joke, but not really. It's not a complaint, just a wistful note in case you're sensitive to germs and such. The line moved VERY quickly, so props to the team there for shepherding us all along very well! They also HAD a line, so this is what drew me to choose this place over other similar establishments. I figure if you're operating a stall in this market, you HAVE to bring your A game. I feel like this joint knows this, and they clearly showed an effort to put up a quality product. Overall, it's not Philly legit, maybe, but it's not too far from it. Probably more legit than most non-Philadelphia establishments I've tried. And for the record, a single combo with a cheesesteak, fries, and a drink (plus one extra drink) was well enough to feed two grown adults! So, you're definitely getting your money's worth here. I'd come back, honestly! I might remember to bring a little salt and pepper, but I'd definitely come back to this place!

If they provide better service this place is good . I sat and ate in the food court . I found street metered parking it was different. However they have a few parking garages close . It's located in the long wood food court . They have busses all over including on in-front of the location.
