Love the experience I had here. I brought my boyfriend here because he has longer hair but always wants to go to a barber shop which they never cut/style his hair right. So he finally gave in and listened to me and the moment we walked in we felt welcomed. Every staff member was so much fun, positive and also very professional. The Hair stylist Cameron seemed very knowledgeable and did so good with my boyfriend's hair. The salon itself is chic and is such a vibe, which totally adds to the experience. Loved coming here and can't wait to visit again!

I did not have a good experience at this Salon!! Here is the story..... I had been dying my roots with Madison reed products that was mailed to my house. I had not been to a beauty salon because I was afraid my hair was not going to turn how I wanted it to be. My hair is black and my grey pops out more in the front so I was really getting tired of doing it myself at home and at the same time I wanted a change. I sent my husband a tik tok from this girl that got her hair done by Rusty at Ron King Salon and a month later he surprised me with a "500" dollar gift card from there. Well when I tried to schedule a consultation with Rusty they told me that he is an independent contractor and he does not take gift cards I was really sad but had to schedule an appointment with the other stylist. ( I did asked my husband if they told him any rules about the gift card and he said no, he just told whoever the receptionist at the moment a brief history about my hair, what I wanted and an idea on how much he should put in the card. I ended up scheduling a consult with Lawrence. When I went for the consult I told Lawrence about my hair history and what I expected I even showed him a picture. He said that because I used box dye that we couldn't go to light because the dye might not take. (Which I wasn't trying to go blond what I wanted was an ash brunette) after looking at my hair he did reassured that we could get close and might take another touch up visit to get there) any ways he gave me a quote for 380 ( it was going to be close to 400 ) I didn't tell him how much I had in the card. Well I schedule the appointment with him since this salon had good reviews. The Day of the appointment My appointment was at 11:00 I got there at 10:40 Lawrence cut my hair first (this is the reason I gave then a one star) the haircut was not bad ) then he proceeded to do the rest. I didn't leave until close to 5:30!!! By the time he was done I was ready to leave, I was hungry my neck hurt because I had my neck on the sink for a while etc. When I saw my hair while he was blow-drying it I said to myself this looks like he just dyed my roots with the same black base I had come with, I really couldn't tell a big difference but just few highlights(which looks orange) When it was time to pay he said the total was five something but since it had the 500 dollar gift certificate that he was just going to leave it at that. I really was blown away when he said but like I said I was ready to leave so I just asked for a receipt and left. FaceTimed my husband and he couldn't tell what I had done much. We to work and they all told me that they charged me way to much for what they did because it was not what I wanted AT ALL. Which I knew but was trying to be positive. The more people I talk to they were shocked how much they charged me for not doing what I wanted to begin with. Called Ron Ling Salon and told the receptionist that I was not happy and he said that they would make it right and schedule an appointment to fix it at no cost. Well it was lie .... When I went to the salon, Lawrence took me back and just basically told me that it was going to take more visits to get the color right and that he needed removed the color if I wanted to go lighter which I showed him a picture wow. He said he could fix it but it would cost and he gave me an hourly cost (ridiculous) I told him that I'm not going to pay because my hair looked nothing like what I showed him I wanted and I wasn't happy. He proceeded to bring the two owners Ron king and Ethan King, which that is when I felt very disrespected. Especially by Ron he was very rude. At one point I was trying to showed him a piece of my hair and he yelled at me and told me to STOP. Basically they told me that it would cost me to get it fixed or done and we don't know how long it would take but I was going to pay by the hour. They told me they couldn't get it done today even thought I told him I drove 45 min and I was not going to pay anyways so I got up and told them I had leave. I had had enough and was very upset. I would not go back to this place or refer anyone here. Here is a picture of the receipt and before and after pic and what I wanted Ps: he charged me 3x for a gloss??? A balayage which from looking at videos he didn't do that he did highlights but I'm not a hair dresser all I know is that they charged me way to much to just dye the gray (roots ) and put some highlights just crazy!!!

Okay booked with Andrew after a fate sent me to the Ron King Salon. Best decision- he is incredibly talented, so very patient and ultra focused for HOURS during the massive overhaul he took on with my hair! Cannot recommend him enough because he 1) Nailed a difficult color fix 2) Killed the cut 3) Gave me the exact look I showed him from the inspo pic 4) Booked my appointment the day after I contacted the salon. Really, Thank you Andrew for everything Salon itself is clean and has great lighting with aesthetic straight lines throughout. Every staff member seemed totally present, involved and interested with their work. Both owners were in and out of the salon throughout the day

My friends to this day talk about how bad my hair was I have been wanting to get my hair dyed but I have ptsd I just think this had to be shared even though it was a while ago. I went from having blonde to purple and I Jen I tired to come back to have it go back to blonde since the purple was washed out. I walked out and cried in my car but I thought I was overreacting until I went to a fords birthday and everyone was asking me what happens to my hair they thought I did it to myself I then went to a salon and Houston and the lady did my hair and said she felt so bad for me she did a color correction for very Cheap and I just went back to my Natural hair which is very dark brown. This is a nice salon but I went because I was referred by a girl who has amazing hair and she gets it down by Andrew pretty sure! I had a girl I don't want to say her name on here but Maybe I should've gotten another person so I don't want to say bad things about the salon entirely it's so clean and pretty.

I've been to the best when it comes to salons. Ron King Salon knocks it out of the park in every category. Service, ambiance , skill, price for value. Ethan is a master. Meticulous and perfect eye for what I needed to do. And my hair is complex. I'm telling all my friends to go there!! Love y'all Ethan and Ron!!

I take my hair seriously. I know what I want in a salon experience, and I don't risk walking out of a salon with a bad haircut. Ever. In the two to three hours I spend with a professional getting me gorgeous, I want to feel like a queen, and I expect to walk out looking like one. It's a tall order, believe me. But finally, after two years of searching, (and two years of driving up to Fort Worth on the regular to get my hair did), I found a new stylist and salon conveniently located in downtown Austin that meets my highest expectations. Ron King Salon is my new happy place. Ok, so "conveniently located in downtown Austin" sounds too good to be true. But Ron King is just two blocks off I-35 and validates parking in the retail garage attached to the building. That's a big plus for me. Just be sure to allow plenty of time for traffic, and be prepared to park somewhere else if the parking garage is full. I kept Wesley waiting for 45 minutes past my scheduled time. Speaking of Wesley, my new stylist, he may look like a regular haute-T, but Wesley is a scissor wielding hair ninja, an artist. He gave me the kind of quality cut that probably grows out nicely. Not only that, he knows his products. I have dry, gray hair. I wash every day (yeah, try to stop me), and I hot curl or flat iron frequently, and, well, I'm old. I have needs. Wesley analyzed my frizz like a doctor and Rx'd the perfect combination of moisturizers. A week after using them daily, my hair feels and looks like a shampoo commercial. I was in the salon a couple of hours getting the full pampering from Wesley, wine, flattering attention, a relaxing shampoo, cut, dry, and style. I enjoyed every minute of it, not just the eye candy that is Wesley and EVERY OTHER STYLIST IN THAT PLACE, but the tasteful decor, subtle lighting, and music. I intend to return soon, even though my hair cut could probably go six weeks without a touch-up. Wesley has holiday plans for my do that may or may not include an upswept something or other for holiday parties. I don't know, yet. I'll let him surprise me.

This place is as good as it gets. Modern ambiance and also relaxing. Pleasant check in and was offered champagne upon arrival. The entire salon is green; ask them about it, the process is INSANE, mad respect for their efforts. I came here for a woman's hair cut with Dallah. Dallah is amazing... he is so passionate about his work and is also incredibly good. I left feeling so confident, and so relaxed. I can honestly say it was my best haircut. I will be back and I will go to Dallah!!

I've never been loyal to a salon until Ron King Salon! Jose Vidal is simply the best! I leave feeling beautiful every single time. Jose listens to what I want and makes it happen. I was very interested in balyage, but not wanting to go all in. Jose was totally understanding and started with just some face framing and I'm going back for more color soon. The interior of the salon is super trendy and you feel like an honored guest during every visit. I have seen some reviews complaining about the price - but this is a high-end salon in downtown Austin, so why would you expect cheap prices? In my opinion, RKS is worth every penny! UPDATE: Went back today for more color and had another excellent experience with Jose!! He just got back from a training and used some new coloring techniques on me and they turned out beautiful. I love that he takes the time to keep up with industry trends! Jose always exceeds my expectations!

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm serious about my hair! Naturally, I was a bit nervous coming into the salon but that quickly disappeared when I met Andrew! He greeted me and quickly got me set up. He explained everything so thoroughly and paid close attention to details to ensure I was happy with my hair color! He was so nice!!!!! Everything went so smoothly!! The salon overall is so beautiful and well decorated! The hair washing station has relaxing music playing and relaxing decor! I really enjoyed my experience and I'm glad that I've found a great hair dresser in Austin. I recommended this salon to anyone who is looking for a new hair dresser or is new to Austin :)

I have found MY hair stylist when I travel to Austin for Business. KATI you are AMAZING. Last month I went to Austin and I desperately needed a hair cut (haven't cut my long hair in about a year!). I've always had mediocre experiences when I went to some salons in Jersey. Most of my Asian friends say that an Asian person needs to cut their hair. I totally don't believe that anymore. Kati is super talented and super nice! I showed her a few pictures of the cut I wanted and she agreed that the pictures would look good on me. She tweaked it a little because we had cut my hair a little shorter ( I wanted to cut off as much as the split-ended hairs as we could but still maintain the long hair look ). Kati even took some awesome before and after shots for me! I LOVED the finished product and my hair still looks great. It's the first time in a long time that I have loved my hair cut. Thank you Kati :) I would have bought all the products she used to blow out my hair if I could (couldn't because of the flight home). Anytime I'm in Austin and need a haircut or blowout, I know where to go! I felt very pampered there and felt I got a lot of value from the money I spent.

As someone who has an unhealthy amount of love for her own hair and has gone to all kinds of stylists and salons, I can 100% recommend Kati at Ron King salon. We've all met many-a-bozo with a cosmetology license, but it's no easy task to find a stylist who both has the talent and is willing to put in the effort to make your hair amazing. Kati went the extra mile to make sure my cut was perfect and with the color, she absolutely knocked it out of the park. I showed her one picture and said all I wanted was for it to look natural on me - she took my request and made magic happen :) I get compliments all the time, and when I tell people my color is not natural they actually don't believe me. I'm seriously at risk of becoming (*ahem*) a tiny bit immodest. Kati's also super great to talk to, which surely is a plus during a 2-hour hair appointment. The salon itself is really incredibly nice. Modern, clean, great lighting, comfy chairs... Going there is more an experience than just a haircut. I could definitely get used to an awesome-looking salon right next to the Four Seasons, chillin under a hair dryer with a glass of wine and walking out looking like I'm famous. In here, you really do get what you pay for. SO bottom line, if you want your hair to be fantastic rather than just some thing sitting on top of your head that you do what you can with, go to RK salon and see Kati. You can thank me later.

I was utterly blown away by this salon. The decor and high quality interior would be enough to give this salon a high rating, but the stylist that I worked with Kristen Karr was FABULOUS. She gave me an amazing color job, styled my hair and gave my a quick bang trim. The stylists take their time on your hair, and you never get the sense that they are trying to rush through your appointment. I will definitely be going back for all of my hair care needs. I cannot speak highly enough for this salon! read more

Brittany Wand is an excellent hair stylist and colorist! I went to her looking for a slightly edgy, but still professional look. She custom mixed (a deep purplish-red) and did an amazing balayage color intermixed with with dark highlights. My hair has never looked this good!!! read more

I moved to Austin back in August of last year, I had tried Milk and Honey. Worked out once but after they basically butchered my hair color. It got dry and turned green. I decided to give Ron King salon a chance. I already knew I was Gana be paying a little extra than any other salon but to be honest it's totally worth it. JAI was my stylist. Not only was she super down to earth ( not what I expected from a high end salon) but I was able to comfortable tell her that I can not spend more than X amount of money. Basically I was going to a high end salon on a budget. She was totally cool with it and exceeded my expectations. She's super great with color and cuts. You can ask her any question about your hair and she will give her honest opinion. All staff are nice and smiley. They all looked like a happy team. Ron King Salon is the place to go! read more

Ron King is great! Cool, funky, and contemporary interior and really amazing staff. Jai took care of my hair and gave me some of the best haircuts I've ever had. I still got compliments on them even when they grew out. She took the time to understand the idea I was going for and applied her creative talent to give me cuts that made me feel new, free, and pretty! A good haircut can be priceless! Brad at the front desk is also an absolute sweetheart and very courteous and helpful with great style. Definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a salon in the area. read more

CARLA = AMAZING!!! I can't say enough about her!!! But hell... I'll try... She is a hair master. Everytime I go, I am more than pleased! I look forward to my 8 weeks, so I can see her and be treated with the best hair care and conversation. I leave feeling great, looking great and warm and fuzzy inside. So, I'm always changing my hair. Like, always. No matter what I try, April and everyone at Ron King Salon have always made me look so cool. I have very dark brown hair, and my hair always gets an amazing color, even if I want to be icy blonde. Trust me, you can trust any of the great colorists and stylists there. Ron King Salon is simply the best and of course, I love Ron. That said, this review is for Giacomo Yanisselli, one of the best hidden secrets (hopefully not for long!) at Ron King Salon. Giacomo is the absolute very best at Balayage color! For those of you who do not know about Balayge, you need to learn quick and I cannot recommend Giacomo more to show you first hand how stunning and natural your highlights can look. Giacomo is very easy to talk to about your vision for your hair and she works meticulously to ensure that your color is better than you have ever seen it look before. When you see Giacomo work for the first time, you will see that he is a true natural talent with hair color and her passion shines through in your time with him as well as how you will feel walking out of the salon. I truly cannot recommend him more highly! Thank you Giacomo for always making me excited to come in and see you and leave with that extra spring in my step (not I feel like a blonde hair commercial!) you're the best! read more

I have been going to Gabe at Ron King Salon for about 6 years (since I was a student at UT). Even when I lived in Chicago, I would make sure to book appointments over the holidays when I was home. Now that I live in Dallas, I still travel to Gabe for the perfect balayage. For my wedding he gave me amazing mermaid hair (extensions) and did the perfect Gatsby look with side swoop curls! I can't rave enough about the amazing service and friendship I have gained throughout the years! read more

Do you and your hair a favor and book your next hair appointment with Andrew. Coming from someone who is terrified of trusting their hair to anyone, Andrew listened to my wants and concerns and I kid you not when I say my hair has never looked, nor felt better than what it does right now. I walked out of that salon feeling ten times better about myself than when I had entered and I can't put into words how much that meant to me. The salon itself is beautiful and the complimentary glass (or two) of rosé was such a nice added bonus. Everyone at the salon was friendly and you could tell everyone just truly enjoyed what they were doing there. The whole environment/experience is just what I was hoping to find in a hair salon. I never thought I'd find myself saying this after many butchered hair jobs, but I truly cannot wait to go back to this place and get my hair done again. Thanks again Andrew! read more

I'm very disappointed with the professionalism of this salon. I was quoted $125 to have my microlinked extensions tightened. But when I arrived I was told the price would START at $500. You can't retract an already quoted amount. I moved my entire schedule around to fit this appointment in and they didn't even have the decency to call me ahead of time to let me know about the drastic price increase. If so, I could have avoided wasting my time this morning. I'm from Los Angeles and wouldn't even dare to pay that amount to have my extension tightened--such a rip-off! read more

This place is great! I have been getting my hair colored by Eddie for years and he is the absolute Best! His smile and energy are so contagious and his passion for hair really shines through in his work! He turned me on to balayage and I haven't looked back! His attention to detail is so good that I get compliments on my hair months and months after having it colored by him! My favorite part is relaxing in the shampoo area. The music is so soothing, I feel like I could stay in there all day! I highly recommend this salon to everyone! Go in and ask for Eddie and you will leave feeling like a million bucks! read more

This is my second visit to Ron King Salon for my hair. Eddie Sanchez is officially my new stylest!!! He gave me an amazing cut the first time and this time around we did color. I couldn't be happier with the results, so in love with my new look! I love the atmosphere at this salon, so classy, and lavishly chic!! As soon as I walk in, I've been greeted by thier salon manager Danny Galvan, who clearly makes everyone feel welcomed! I strongly recommend coming to Ron King Salon for all your hair treatment needs. All I can say about this place is the management is as rude as they come. I am a grad student here in Austin and purchased a livingsocial coupon for this salon and was treated like a poor piece of crap person not 'worthy' of being in the salon b/c I was using a coupon. Seriously. F-this place, and especially f- JIM the manager who works there who was so incredibly rude and condecending when he found out that I dont normally pay $80 for a trim of 1 inch of hair. really. oh, and did I mention that Jim made sure to tell me how much money the business loses by accepting clients who purchased the livingsocial coupon? OH, but wait, didn't the Ron King Salon volunteer to participate in the livingsocial deals? yeah, so shut the f. up JIM. If your in the market for a new salon, please look elsewhere, you don't want to support a salon whose owner and management are so freakin' rude read more

Do Not Go HERE!!!! Went to see Ron King for nothing more than a GLOSS, they took the towel off and my hair was FIVE shades lighter and fried to a pulp from ROOTS to ENDS!!!! At this point, after blown out and looking like I put my finger in a light socket, he decides to just start "cutting into it" I stupidly gave RON a chance to fix it TWICE!!!!!! It's so bad no one will touch it. I believe Ron King is all an act and he really pretends to know what he is doing. He talks a great story, he pretty much tells you the way he thinks it should be and does it. If you don't like it, he will try to convince you that you do. FRIED, PINK or whatever else.... Ron does little of the work himself. It's a ontinuous pass off to other employees and every employee, although friendly, is a puppet and afraid to speak up. The salon is a very first class looking place inside and out... Do NOT be fooled!!!! read more

I recently made an "emergency" appointment with Kati, a curly-hair specialist, after I got a bad haircut at another salon. I'd never been to Ron King, did not know Kati, and the haircut I'd gotten two days earlier was the first professional cut I'd gotten in over two years, because I kept getting bad haircut after bad haircut, and I was terrified to go back to a salon. Kati took a lot of time working with me and my hair. She walked me through how she thought I could best condition and dry my hair. The dry haircut, on my natural curls, was very minor, in my eyes, which was a huge relief. (I was very afraid I'd have to lose another inch or so of length to cut out the bad haircut.) After Kati's haircut, and following her advice on conditioning/drying my hair on my own (even without using any product or diffuser), my hair looks better now than it's ever looked in my life, and I'm so glad I found her (and Ron King). Kati and the staff (shout-out to Diane, who helped me make the appointment) at Ron King was very nice, were not at all snooty or stand-offish, and treated me very well. It was the most expensive haircut I've ever had, but it was worth it. (I never thought I'd say that!) My hair is now what it was meant to be, so my hair and I thank Kati. read more

Get a Ron for the price of a Carla! Ok, all fairness to Ron, he MAY be even more magical than Carla, but I'm pretty good & satisfied with my Carla. I moved here from LA five years ago. LA knows hair. If I liked only one thing about LA (and I'd say that's a fairly accurate number), it's their hair proficiency. Hearing that Ron King was a curly-haired magician, I made an appt at Bo Salon (as was) on SoCo, with no inquiry as to cost. New to Austin, I thought, "It's not Los Angeles! How much could it possibly cost!" hahahaha! Last words of the uninitiated. Ron gave me a real star cut, first snipping at seemingly air, while my hair was dry, actual curl by specificl curl, in a very Hollywood movie manner....like a preeminent gay abstract artist leaning forwards and back periodically, to take a fresh look, then splash another streak on the canvas. Even in LA, I hadn't been snipped with such exacting deliberation, posing as carelessness. I felt giddy. Then I was washed (well, only my hair) by an assistant, after which Ron returned with another assistant, and had me flip my head over to allow my long sinuous locks to dangle, inches from the ground. He patted them with *paper towels* (to avoid frizz), then applied copious amounts of curl product, then had me flip my head around wildly to get my curl on. Afterwards, my hair looked better than at any point in my life, except that one time when I was 22, and someone told me my hair was "the universe". And that he wanted to live in it. The Ron experience was $350.00. Actually $400, because I said yes to a mani-pedi while there. A cardiac-event number for me. I fearfully revealed it to my husband, trembling in fear. He looked at me and said, "Money well-spent. Maybe you could just cut your hair once a year." It was that good. When does a husband tell his wife that $350 is an acceptable amount to pay for a haircut? Ok, the once a year part would've been tough, but still! Despite that endorsement, I still couldn't return. Just not my kind of budget. UNTIL! Ron opened his own (glorious) place! Downtown! Ron King! And I called, with little belief, but a lot of hope....and YES! He had indeed trained other stylists to be like him! And YES! They cost less! Specifically, he recommended Carla to me and she has been my hair's life partner ever since. I should have stopped the first time with the hair cut. The high lights the second time was rather not what I expected or becoming. He stated he wanted me and my friend for some of his segments and I believe he used this tactic to lure us into his salon. Will not go back especially for the price. read more

Sign outside says $38 for a blow out. They don't honor that, so didn't get to visit the salon. Disappointing considering we had a ton of business to bring today, over 10 ladies were interested. Nicer staff and honoring prices as advertised would have been nice. Plus, every time we called (twice) we were quoted a different price. Too bad. read more

Love so many things about this place. Gorgeous decor, very classy and chic. They treat you really well, you're never rushed. They see you as soon as your appointment time is. I've been working with Faith and she definitely knows her stuff. At the moment I've only colored back to natural but in a couple of weeks I'll update the review with how my baby lights and bayalage come out. Lost a star because I wasn't warned of the increase in cost when they had to use an extra bottle on my hair and because it was hard to schedule an appointment - but they had to block off 3 hours for my hair so I understand the difficulty in booking an appointment that long. read more

This review is long overdue. I've had my hair cut at Ron King a couple of times, by two different hairstylists who specialize in curly hair. Both times the haircut was awesome. The second stylist, who is still there, Carla is fabulous. She gave me a great versatile curly haircut that I could also wear blown-out. Beautiful salon, service, and stylists. Highly recommend if you can afford. read more

LOVE this place! The amazing Ron King has created a beautiful elequent, and welcoming salon. It is absolutely stunning inside, and the staff makes you feel like family. Ron King himself suggested I have Lydia cut my hair. I have had long, boring blond hair for over a year now. Lydia was great! She understood that I wanted my hair to stay as long as possible, but still have a style. She made my hair look gogeous, and she styled it to perfection. She took extra time to show me a few styling tips and I was out of there in about an hour! She has styled my hair better than anyone in Austin. I recently booked a hair appt. with my usual person who moved to Aziz. When I showed up, after receiving a confirmation text, they said they had no appt. for me. I had booked it over a month ago and it was a Saturday during SXSW! They were very blasé and didn't seem to care so I decided to call trusty Ron King to get in that day! This review is a bit overdue. The truth is, I've been thinking for several weeks how to accurately express my experience with this salon. Bottom line- my wedding would not have been the same if I had selected any other place. This may come across as a dramatic statement for just hair and makeup services. However, that's the point I want to make. It was NOT just hair and makeup services they provided. Leading up to my wedding, I probably saw April (my amazing hair and makeup artist) more than I saw my own family. I was so busy and the only time I was able to sit down and escape the chaos was when I was getting my trial hair/makeup sessions, hair dyed, or styled before all the pre-wedding events. I even wrote my vows during one session! It sounds funny to say but April was almost like a therapist with her calming voice and the way she would help me stay focused on the big picture and remind me not to stress about little things (all while she created art out of my hair!) Then came my wedding day. Let me preface by saying I have AMAZING friends and family. But the truth is EVERYONE is running around like crazy trying to get ready before the ceremony. April was there, by my side, and provided the much needed support to calm my nerves. Right after she secured my wedding veil, just before I walked down the aisle, I remember looking at her and asking, "how am I going to do this??" (I was so nervous I didn't even think I could walk down the aisle!) She looked at me, smiled, and calmly said, "by only focusing on having fun." Because of those words of wisdom, I had a COMPLETELY stress free wedding. Nothing went wrong.. and if it would have.. I wouldn't have cared. Because it's not the flowers or the design of the cake you remember after your wedding. It's whether or not you had the night of your life. Which I did. And because of my carefree attitude, everyone else did as well. Well, I've already written a novel and I haven't even gotten to how amazing my hair and makeup looked! I initially came into the salon with three up-do ideas that I liked. April consulted with me and was able to identify what I liked from each of the three looks. She then created a custom up-do that blew me away. I think I received more compliments on my hair than my dress! Bottom line- prior to my wedding, I had no idea how important it was to choose the correct hair stylist. I can now say, without a doubt, it is one of the most important decisions you will make for your wedding. You WILL NOT regret your experience with this salon. I can't imagine how different my wedding would have been if I did not have April by my side. She was my rock. AND she is the most amazing, talented hair and makeup artist you will ever meet. read more

Ron King Salon opened at the Four Seasons location in the fall of 2010. Our original location was Bo Salon on South Congress. Ron King Salon specializes in extensions, curly Cuts, bridal events, and makeup. We offer free parking, and we have stylists at six different levels so every beauty budget is covered. With 20 different stylists and hours as late as 9 PM we can make it happen!

Ron began his career at an early age and has pursued his passion for gifting his clients with beauty his entire life. King is a talented master stylist and creator of the internationally renowned Invsi-Tab extension line and, in 2010 he opened the doors to the Ron King Salon in the heart of downtown Austin, TX. King's trademarked, "easy wear" philosophy has earned him accolades and an impressive clientele. He has worked with some of the most respected names in the industries spanning politics and Hollywood alike. This has pushed him to perfect the highly sought after lived in balayage, softly composed highlights, along with advanced techniques for wearable cuts and extensions for both volume and length. King believes in individually prescribing hair care for each of his guests along with education them to ensure that they can maintain and recreate their look after they leave the salon.

Joseph is *the* stylist for curly hair. Seriously. I have the worst hair. Part dry Hawaiian and part thin European, frizzy on both sides. Meaning I can't wash it more than three times a week without it getting incredibly dry but the less I wash it the more my thin hair likes to tangle and my curls like to disappear. My go-to style for years was a high pony with a crown of frizz because I just didn't know what to do about it. It was sad, really really sad. Most stylists don't seem to grasp the concept of thin *and* curly and end up giving me the most awful, high maintenance cuts that frizz up unless I know what I'm doing which I expressly make clear that I don't. And forget bangs. Even though I've always wanted them they just add to the frizz crown. Not Joseph. I don't know what he does, but he works magic. It's like he cuts every curl individually, coaxing it out of the flat, frizzy mess that is my natural hair. He even managed to find a way to give me side bangs that are incredibly low maintenance. I have wash and dry hair that is *gorgeous* and even looks great after three days of sleeping on it. For the first time in my life you can see my curls and they're fantastic. I've waited 22 years to find someone who can do this. I've gone to hair stylists all over Texas and I've had many, many, many bad cuts. I will *aways* go to Joseph at Ron King. I also saw his work after he cut and colored my friend's short, straight hair and it also looked fantastic but all I can personally speak for is his work with curly hair. The salon itself is super nice. There's parking in the back and I think they validate for the Four Seasons but I'd call ahead to make sure. The lady at the desk was great when I called last minute to make my appointment and while I was there they made me feel like I was royalty as the other reviewer mentioned. Fancy robe instead of that annoying black tarp. Great products. Lots of time spent on me. It was like getting a $150+ haircut for just over $60. I'm pretty sure the lady across from me ordered room service from the Four Seasons while she was there too, that was pretty cool. This is getting long but... go. And if you're curly go to Joseph. About a year after living here I found LAURA at Ron King Salon. She is fantastic. Finding her makes my life so much easier. I trust her with my hair! I know that sounds silly but it is a very meaningful statement. I always know that Laura is going to make my hair beautiful. I like the natural blonde look - I call it Giselle Bundchen hair. It looks so natural and when summer comes around Laura knows how to pop my blonde a little more around my face, making me feel more vibrant. She is hands down the best colorist I have ever had. I DO NOT say this lightly. I have had my hair done by the best of best from colorists from all over and she is at the very, VERY top. I am in love with the salon as well. I have seen the Owner Ron King teaching while getting my hair done and you can tell he is so innovative and knows his stuff. His blog is even a fun one to visit! :) I know Laura is always talking about new classes she has taken and is always up to date with the newest techniques. Made an appointment here and should have known not to go based on the way the receptionist spoke to me... Very condescending because he was busy... at least that's what it sounded like. But, I decided I'd better show up since I gave my credit card info over the phone and didn't want to get charged... Parking was super easy so I was like "okay, maybe this will be good", I walk in to a pretty waiting area but nobody was at the front desk... Then, the receptionist came around the corner on his cell phone and was really letting somebody have it so I assumed this was 'my guy' that made my appointment... His linen pants, low cut shirt, and curly ear rings didn't really fit with the decor of the place but it IS Austin... He abruptly asked for my name and said my stylist would be right with me... I enter the main salon and my stylist "a very pretty girl" asked me to come put on a robe which was SOOOO HOT!!!!! I asked her halfway through if I could take it off and she said that her boss would be upset because clients that get color done have to wear them! Okay... isn't it about ME??? The haircut/color were just okay to say the least, pretty salon, probably too pretty to be in austin... other stylists seemed VERY snooty, some irritating, one flashy guy kept spinning and speaking loudly like a cheerleader, and another just looked TOTALLY unhappy and pissed the whole time I was there... Maybe because his helper was just standing there... Anyways, these other reviews must be written by stylists friends since this place is new.. thought I'd share a real perspective... I have paid less for a better service... but I guess the price is high to pay for such a big expensive VEGAS like place.... read more

Monica! I'm so happy to find Ron King Salon. But I must admit the reason I'm here is because I MUST follow my Monica. After trying several salons and stylist/colorist in Austin (& a lot of frustration) I found Monica about 4 years ago. Being blonde for 10+ years, my hair has endured A LOT of damage and not always a perfect match on color. Monica has not only improved the over all health and color of my hair, but challenges herself to be more innovative each time. She is always asking, "How does your head feel?" Making sure I am comfortable. If your a blonde and not by birth, you understand. Each time she does my color, she is always making it better than the last. You know when you find your favorite pair of jeans and try to find a substitute? It's just not the same. Like your favorite pair of jeans, Monica is irreplaceable to me. I have threatened her many times, if she ever tries to leave me, I WILL find her. Not to go on and on...but Monica does what I ask for. She doesn't try to go off the beaten path and give me the newest, most modern cut, that doesn't work for anyone. She actually listens and cares about me. She truly wants me to be happy & cares about more than just filling up her books. Over the years she has become part of my trusted circle of friends. Let's face it ladies & gents, a bad cut &/or color can ruin your life!! At least for a good couple of weeks in pictures. Last but not least, I love her new home at Ron King. Craig Piatti -the best stylist at Ron King Salon! I can honestly say Craig has brought my hair back to life. On my first visit with Craig I was not quite sure what I wanted done with my hair, it was getting so difficult to manage and I was really starting to hate it. I began to attempt to give him a vague explanation about it...and he smiled, nodded, and took over magically. He completely "listened" to my non-verbal attempts of communication, and expressed verbally what he thought would be best...then sat me down at his chair to one of the fastest and best cuts I've ever gotten...he transformed my hair, and created a great thicker-looking, slightly-shagged, shorter cut that was easy to style, the perfect cut that I was after. I am in love with my hair again! I've received so many compliments on it. Craig is extremely enthusiastic about his work-which is infectious. His experience and knowledge is obvious from the moment you meet him, he takes the time to explain things. He has a style and way about him that is so genuine. Looking the part of edgy urban hip stylist from NYC or Paris, yet without any of the pretentiousness. He has the kindness, sweetness and calming personality that makes you feel completely comfortable. While making the rest of us look like super stars, Craig Piatti is THE super star at Ron King. Paul Flores, Fabulous hair stylist of Ron King Salon! In a nut shell....is amazing and an artist! Paul's profession is not just a talent, it's a gift! I have utilized Paul's Super Star services for over 11 years now and this goes without saying....I wouldn't have it any other way! The moment you sit in his chair you are his work of art! He examines your profile at every angle to determine what will most accent your features. Of course, you can tell him exactly what you want and he will do just that. However, I suggest you sit back, relax and enjoy the experience because the end result is BEAUTIFUL! Not to mention, the shampoo is not just any shampoo. Consider it the most awesome head massage you will ever receive...I guarantee you will get goose bumps! In addition, he provides knowledge for a lifetime of healthy hair. I will say during the 11 years I did attempt another hair stylist at Jose Luis, which did not even compare. I was actually quite embarrassed, so I let some odd months pass by before I went back to Paul thinking he wouldn't notice. Well, that didn't go over very well. When I went to see Paul and sat in his chair he said, "Girl who did your hair, because I know it wasn't me!" I replied, "I'm sorry, I only cheated on you once and will never do it again!" Kristi Drake sets the bar high for expectations. I did not realize how big of an impact Kristi had in the Lafayette, LA community until she decided to move her dreams to ATX! Yes, I knew she was the only stylist who could make my hair look that amazing, but I wasn't aware of how many women felt the exact same way. This girl has an eye for beauty, and she shows that in the passion she has for her work. If you want a stylist to recommend drastic changes ever 3 months then Kristi Drake is not your girl. She recognizes what makes you, as an individual, unique and beautiful, and just takes that to the next level. I think that is why so many women trust her with the one thing we know can make or break our confidence, Our Hair! Kristi is talented in so many ways, but what really sets her apart is her understanding of blondes. There are so many different tones for blondes, and once you screw it up it takes forever to get back what you wanted. Kristi is known around here for being the blonde goddess! Haha but seriously, if you want your locks to be way beyond mediocre, you should see Kristi Drake. My experience at Ron King last weekend can be explained in two words VIP Treatment!!! The Salon is located down town Austin on the Four Seasons Hotel strip. The salon has a modern decor with clean lines. It reminded me of a place you would see in New York or Hollywood, and would expect to have a run in with a celebrity. My stylist Carlos Guevara began my VIP treatment by greeting me at the door, offering me a variety of drinks while ushering me to a private room where I put on a comfy robe to make sure my clothes stayed hair free. He then gave me an amazing scalp massage during my wash. I wasn't really sure what kind of cut I wanted. I simply told Carlos "I wish my dry sun damaged hair would turn into soft, bouncy locks with some body without losing too much of the length." With those few words Carlos' hands turned into magical wands and puff...my hair became what I call AMAZING!!!! As Carlos transformed my hair he recommended ways of keeping my hair healthy and gave me some easy and fast styling tips. Carlos made me look and feel like a movie star by the time he was done with me. I couldn't stop looking at my hair in the window reflections while I was out on the town and received tons of compliments. I am now spoiled by the treatment I received, and refuse to let anyone else touch my hair, except Carlos Guevara. read more

I love to be pampered, and I always leave feeling like a model! I have had several members of the staff work on my hair and haven't had a negative experience with any of them. I have been getting my hair cut here for a year. In April, I got extensions put it and don't think I will ever be able to live without them. I got the extensions put in for my wedding at the end of April and they ended up lasting and looking beautiful for 3 months. I have since gotten them removed and put in again which was pain free and didn't damage my hair at all (very unlike some of the horror stories I had heard from people who didn't get Ron's invisi-tab hair extensions) Ron and his fabulous team did all of the make up and hair for myself, my wedding party, and the mothers and grandmothers of the bride and groom. Everyone looked stunning and our hair and makeup were perfect the whole day. My husband also get's his hair cut at Ron King, and I have to say he always looks way better than when he used to go to some walk-in shop. After spending as much time at this salon as I have, I am always amazed at the number of people leaving looking incredible with smiles on their faces. The staff is very professional and friendly. Welcome Ron King Salon! The brand spankin new Ron King Salon is the bigger, better (more amazing) sister salon of bo on SoCo. This stunning establishment is the vision of the King himself (Ron not Elvis) and has been brought to life through an obvious ton of hard work and an amazing army (aka the staff) of amazing artists he has working for him. I met the fabulous Ron King, Craig Piatti and the gal nearest and dearest to my heart, Laura, a year ago at bo. Never once have I had anything resembling an unpleasant experience and now actually look forward to having my hair pampered to pieces. The new salon is so beautiful! Words that come to mind...Artisitc, State of the Art, Well Lit, Colorful, Comfortable, Fantastic, Amaaaaaazing! Ron and his staff not only provide a modern cutting edge environment in which to be pampered in every way possible, they actually posess the talent to back up their "New York-esque" bravado. Thank you for bringing some of the big city style shenanigans to the quaint little southr'n city of Austin. Fantastic experience and overall ambiance! You can really tell that the people who work here take pride in their craft and that the brand is worthy of its luxurious reputation! Not only do the stylists go the extra distance to make you feel at home, and make your stay as relaxing as possible, but they also show confidence in their work which translates into a hair that is beautiful and easy to style for you! As a person who was used to the rent-a-booth salon types that seemed like a good bang-for-your-buck, Ron King Salon was a pleasant surprise! A friend referred me and insisted that the salon wasn't just for the uber wealthy, as there are many tiers of stylists to choose from! I personally am a fan of Sebastian for her aggressive no frills men's cut and she keeps me looking sharp! I have sent many of my close girlfriends here and they love it too!! I even have two different brides-to-be booked for their bachelorette party, dress photos and the big day itself! KRISTI DRAKE - GOD'S GIFT TO BLONDES Kristi has been doing my hair for eight years now and I can say that I have NEVER been disappointed after leaving her chair. She is particularly AMAZING with blondes! She will make your hair look and feel better than you have ever seen it! I have gone to plenty of hair dressers before finally falling into Kristi's chair, and since that day I have never looked back! I would NEVER trust anyone else with my hair besides Kristi! Even though she has moved to Austin, I still travel from Lafayette, LA to have her do my hair! (That's Loveeee people) :) On top of being the BEST hairdresser I have ever had, she also is the kindest, most easy going person you will ever meet! When you sit in her chair she will brighten your day, no doubt! Anyone who gets to have her cut, style, or color your hair is one lucky individual! i was so happy to think i found a 5 star hair salon, willing to pay 1g and my hair is not very dark dark i'm a normal dark blonde and no bleach and then this.... but nope my hair got melted off! i was there for 7 hrs no extensions just 2 inches of roots that needed to be done with out bleach or breakage and they thought i was just a guest at the four seasons hotel, traveling and they melted all my beautiful hair and my new hair growth of over two inces and the owner said did you want it that way or what???? you are an owner of a hair salon do you not know what re grow is ???? and it should never melt off!!!! also he said u need to leave and threw me out with out any produts nothing. stay away just wanna bee's!! i dont have time nor would i ever want to be a hair model i'm vauleable and this review on top of my hair damgage has wasted me tons of time but hopefully it's helped people out looking for a real hair salon~!!!! goodluck. read more

What an amazing experience I had at Ron King today! Honestly I couldn't stop smiling! My sister and I made back to back appointments with Carla today and can't wait to go back! The salon itself is stunning, and you leave looking and feeling the same! I felt like a rockstar during the entire experience. Carla really took her time getting to know what would work best for our hair. She gave awesome styling tips and was patient with our questions. I have never had such a great experience getting my hair done. It felt like I was hanging out and laughing and all of the sudden I looked awesome! If you are looking for a great experience that is with a highly educated and welcoming staff, look no further! On top of all of this, the experience was incredibly affordable. All the stars for Joseph at Ron King. I lucked out as a new client to the salon when booked with Joseph. He is the full package. My three C's: Cut, Color and Keratin. Wicked at all three. I have long thick hair I had been growing for this appointment and went from "raggedy Anne" to 100% glam. Just what I was accustomed to at Harper Paige in San Francisco. But SF was two stylists. Never have I found the full package in one. Other noteworthiness- he asked the right questions, listens, yummy massage, the right amount of chat and mesmerizing tattoos. To boot, they are running a 20%+ first-time client discount. Further the parking validation works - heck I was there free for 4hrs! I went into the Ron King Salon not really knowing what to expect but only that I've heard very good things about it there. I was at the fashion show they hosted a couple weeks back and was very very impressed, so I decided to go in for some services... 1st of all, the salon is absolutely gorgeous!!! Laura was my stylist and she did an AMAZING job with my cut and color!! The salon itself, the services and HER exceptional attitude not only made feel calm and comfortable, but I also felt like royalty when I was offered complimentary wine, hand massages, and other perks. I felt like a new person when I walked out of that door and that is how you should feel leaving any salon....but that's usually not the case (in most Austin salons). As many here have stated, Henry Graham is magic with the shears. He cut my hair for several years while he was in San Francisco. He's one of the few stylists I can take ideas from 3 different hair cuts to and he'll craft the perfect short cut that is the blend of all of them every time. AND his creations grow out beautifully and work with all the eccentricities of my hair (multiple cowlicks are no match for him). Hint: if you are willing to experiment, put yourself in his hands - you won't be sorry. We've done a bunch of different asymmetrical looks on my head over the years and they all came out fantastic. Henry also took me from dark green and black to platinum and my hair is healthier than ever after. Not often you can say that! Seriously Austin, book your appointments now before he's inundated (it won't take long). read more

Going to Ron King salon for a color/cut feels like going out for a spa day! From the gorgeous people who meet you at the counter, to the perfect interior (Ron definitely has an eye for all of the details!), to the time spent with you by each member of the staff - you feel wonderful! I went for a disastrous color issue - and Ron personally worked with me and my hair to make it look wonderful again. Added to that, I have unruly, curly, sometimes frizzy hair - something that can be a challenge for any hair professional. Thanks to Ron King - I know about and have choices I have never had - sleek shiny straight do's to defined curls that cause people to stop me in elevators and say how great it looks! I would like to recommend Craig Piatti at Ron King for any hairstyling needs. He was recommended by a friend due to my constant agonizing over the color of my hair (I have been a patron of several salons around town). Craig got it right the first time and has made some gentle enhancements that I really like. His attention to detail and expertise was exactly what I needed. The salon is just wonderful from polite staff to awesome hair massages but really just plain old interest in client's needs. It's nice to know that I have an expert looking after my hair. I highly recommend Craig and would encourage you to call for an initial consultation especially if you are not really satisfied with your current regimen but keep going back because you think it's too much trouble to CHANGE. I have been going here to Megan for a few months and continue to be impressed each time! The attmosphere here is very modern and lux, but still makes you feel comfortable, not stuffy. Megan and rest of staff are very accomodating. She always does just what you ask for. Very down to earth personality and a beautiful girl inside and out. It is in the higher price bracket, but not much more so than any other high end salon in town. Last time I was in, one room was a bit chilly, and they handed out blankets, which I had never seen anyone do in a salon, nice touch! The color bar is a bit different, but works there. Are very good about offering drinks or anything to make you feel at ease. Do not push a lot with products or add ons, which is very nice. Look forward to going back soon! read more
