I love having long hair, but I HATE when my bangs get to the same length. I'm always in need of a trim, but with the cost of cutting just a few centimeters, it's hard to justify the expense. As a result, I attempt to cut my own bags and end up back in a salon chair anyway. I booked the soonest appointment with any stylist available and got Angelica, a level 4 stylist. Given her experience (the higher the level, the more seasoned), I was a little concerned about the cost. But I knew I'd need someone skilled for what I was going for -- a wispy bang. Although the result wasn't exactly what I envisioned, it's been a few weeks and has grown out, and I am starting to like what I see! read more

I called to book a balayage and was told my previous stylist was not available (she is a lower level stylist with a lower cost on their scale of stylists). I was told I could book with a stylist who had availability, but she was more expensive since she was a top level stylist. I was in a pinch, so I booked the appointment willing to try out the highest level of stylist. When I arrived at my appointment, I was cared for by what seemed like intern stylists from the beginning all the way through the end of my hair appointment. The "high-level" stylist only came by to tell them what to do occasionally, but she never touched my hair at all until it was ready to be blow dried at the end. So what the hell did I just pay extra for? I have decided not to return to the salon based on this experience that I had. I don't mind paying more for the high-level stylist if she is the one who is in fact doing the work on my hair, but delegating it out to two other intern like girls was really NOT appropriate. Ethically speaking, I think this is bad business to do this kind of stuff to customers. So I won't be back, and I will not recommend the salon to any of my friends or coworkers. This is my second time coming here and I enjoy this place so much! I looked for something that is reasonable in price for a simple cut and this hits the mark on both price and quality of service. I only go for a simple cut (no color) and they shampoo my hair every time and give my scalp a little massage when they do. My hair smelled so great for the rest of the day! I really like their set up- they have the blowdryers hanging from the ceiling at every station. The music is just quiet enough to not be too loud, and my stylists seems to be good at gauging how talkative they should be with me. I've also never had to wait for them to be ready for me either time I've come. I went a little "brave" by my standards today and got shorter curtain bangs than usual and my stylist Alexia made sure to talk to me about the different types of maintenance if I were to do curtain bangs versus fringe. She gave me exactly what I asked for and asked the right questions to get there. I wanted to keep my hair as long as possible while getting the split ends off and she did exactly that! I came to a professional to get a professional color, cause I know if I tried this I could not do a good job. After all, I am NOT a professional. I wanted to bleach all of my hair. She took my inspiration picture and went with highlights and later blames the box dye I did (4 months ago) for the dye not lifting. I am almost 400$ in the hole. I've been a client at Salon One 12 for a little over a year and a half now. I can't believe it took me this long to write a review!!! This is easily my favorite salon that I've been to in Austin - the boutique, small town feel is exactly what I was looking for... so welcoming. Everyone in there is super nice. I've had my hair styled by both Rebecca and Kristen and they both did a fantastic job. Rebecca is the owner, so I felt "safe" having her be the first person to cut my hair when I tried Salon One 12 for the first time. Super personable, easy to talk to -- she's one of those genuine folks that you can have a conversation with while she makes you look beautiful. I had Kristen on my most recent cut a month ago and I felt exactly the same way about her -- I'm not sure what the gal below experienced, but our two trips couldn't have been more different. Another thing that I love about Salon One 12 is the location in the new Buda Mill & Grain complex. That whole part of Buda just keeps getting better and better. Salon One 12 was one of the first businesses to open up in that area. They have a whole shabby chic, super Pinterest-worthy look going on and their shop is adorable. I love it. My mom isn't very fluent in English so she definitely has the patience to understand and listen to what my mom is wanting to get done,which I really appreciate!!!....She was the first person I have trusted to touch my virgin hair and left it healthy and strong even after it was bleached!!Cant say enough good things about Dasha,I highly recommend her. I had a great experience at Salon 112. Cayli listened to exactly what I wanted and gave me a fantastic cut. In the past I've had stylists who clearly didn't know how to work with curly/wavy hair, but Cayli gave me a perfect cut and really helped my curls thrive. My hair is much healthier and I left with lots of tips and advice on how to style it. Horrendous haircut. I am left with a huge chunk of much shorter hair on one side of my face. It was styled with a round brush before I could see that it was uneven. I asked for layers that framed my face and that is most certainly not what I got. Upon contacting the salon to send photos and ask for it to be fixed no one apologized. They wanted the same stylist to fix it, which is absolutely not going to happen. I'm having it fixed tomorrow and just praying they don't have to take more length off. I will be asking for at least a partial refund. read more

Was looking for a salon closer to home since my hairstylist (at Urban Betty) moved back to Dallas. Called in my appointment was quoted $243 over phone, I was like sure cause that's about what I pay from my previous salon. Booked with a bottom tier/level stylist and show up to get my hair done. The stylist gets me an exact quote- $368!!! Mind you I have mid to short length hair and it is thin. This was to lighten my hair (my hair is light brown with a previous balayage still in, so not dark at all), cut, and some treatments. I have had this exact service at one, if not the best salons in Texas for way less than that. This girl was completely trying to take advantage of me or make rent. Do not recommend based off my experience on pricing. read more

I have lived in this area for 13 years and haven't been able to find a stylist that I liked. A friend recommended Dasha Rose so I decided to give her a try. She listened and was responsive to my questions and concerns. I have bleached hair and wanted a Brazilian Blowout but was worried about damage. Did I mention...she listened? My hair came out amazing. I have never been so happy with a stylist. The ONLY downside is that now I want her to do my color but she is booked until September. It doesn't matter though. I'm waiting.
