Extremely Disappointed - Please Read Before Booking with Nicky Alvarado…read more I booked a highlight service with Nicky Alvarado at Magnolia Beauty Bar in Buda, TX, and it turned into one of the worst salon experiences I've ever had. I paid $400 for a service that was never completed--my hair was left soaking wet, over-processed, and I walked out with chemical burns on my scalp and in tears. She left bleach on my hair for over an hour, completely forgot multiple key steps we had agreed on (like toning and root smudging), and was visibly out of it and unfocused the entire time. I gave her a chance to make it right by returning the next day, as she offered, but she no-call no-showed, ignored all my messages, and eventually blocked me. To make things worse, I witnessed her mocking a nonverbal client in the salon--someone who was likely on the autism spectrum. Her comments were cruel and unacceptable. As someone who's worked with individuals on the spectrum, I was horrified by her lack of empathy and professionalism. This was more than just a bad hair appointment. It was physically and emotionally damaging, and I don't want anyone else to experience what I did. Please take this seriously before booking with her.

Lauren is also a kind, funny, and down-to-earth person, so sitting in the chair and talking was truly a pleasure. The salon is small, cute, and personable. Highly recommend! After lots of online research, I ended up right around the corner from our new house at MC Hair Salon and in the hands of Miss Claudia. She is FANTASTIC. She's the tomato soup to my grilled cheese sandwich. She's the marshmallows to my hot chocolate. She made me instantly feel comfortable, and her skills did not disappoint one bit! I told her what I was looking for with my haircut, and it was EXACTLY what I asked for. I was nervous when she suggested to cut more than I was planning to, but TRUST IN MISS CLAUDIA! My hair is SUBSTANTIALLY healthier and happier. All the layers but not too many. She didn't thin my hair or use a razor on it. She didn't use a ton of product when giving me my simple blowout at the end and it was just naturally flowy and FUN. As I was leaving the gentleman waiting for her agreed she was THE BEST. I felt sassy and classy, and it was honestly the pep in my step that I've needed after moving here and not getting to really stop unpacking and organizing yet. She is kind, and so was the other woman there translating for her. 5/5 experience. No IG backgrounds in the salon, no floral/green leaves walls or boujee mimosa service, and it doesn't need it when you are doing quality work and really listening to your customers. Can't wait to go back again soon!
