Kim has been doing my hair ever since I moved to Austin. I wanted someone who used organic products because I worry about toxic chemicals used on my head so close to my brain. I have my roots colored every 5 weeks and get highlights every couple of months. I love how Kim listens carefully to what I want and makes awesome suggestions to achieve it. I like the organic shampoo and conditioner she got for me and she often gives me samples of things to try too. She does a great job and I love seeing her regularly. I highly recommend Kim for anyone whether you just need an occasional haircut or if you want a regular hairdresser. read more

Kim listened to what I wanted before getting started. She asked if I used a blow dryer or products and since I do not, she checked with me before she put anything in my hair which I appreciated. I went to her because she uses vegan, non toxic products and plan to go back for other services. read more

I had the most wonderful experience at Meche Organic Salon! I haven't been to a hair salon in years and Kim made me comfortable through the whole process. She was very friendly and helpful. She is also very knowledgeable and was able to give me recommendations on what would work best for me. I also get the sense that she is after caring for her clients more than the money. For example I asked her what hair color she thinks will work best for me and she suggested some options but then told me that she actually likes my current hair color and that it seems to be working fine for me. I've never experienced that! Usually professionals would like the client to have all the services they can pay for since that would mean them earning more. That just made me like Kim more. read more

Kim is so good. I always leave my appoints with her feeling great about myself. My hair always looks great. So happy that I found her and cannot image going anywhere else to get my hair done. read more

Kim has been cutting and coloring my hair with organic products for 4 years. She always does an amazing job and my hair is so healthy now. I love that I can wake up and tousle my curls and then I am good to go for the day. Thank you for helping me take care of my curly hair! read more

I had a stylist I really liked. She understood my hair and did a great job cutting it. Since she left town, I have been to several other stylists and will say I was not happy with any of them. I happened upon Meche and Kim by looking on Yelp and looking for someone nearby home that had good ratings. She fit the bill. She cut my hair several weeks ago and I am VERY HAPPY with the cut. She listened to me about my hair patterns (some straight some curly) and did a GREAT job. I usually have to do some sort of personal adjustment on my hair because something is not right, given the different hair patterns. I am very happy to say I have not taken the scissors to my own hair since my cut....AWESOME! Make an appt today. Kim and Meche are GREAT! read more

Great hair stylist who uses organic products and really takes the time to get to know you, your lifestyle, and what haircut and hair color would suit your lifestyle. I loved my hair color and cut, and my hair actually feels healthier now than it did before! read more

Meche Organic Salon - Beautiful dye job from my day at the salon! Please excuse my strange outfit. - Hair Salons Near Me

Meche Organic Salon is an excellent choice if you need to find an organic hair coloring salon. I found it by doing a google search when I moved to Austin and couldn't find an organic salon through word of mouth. Fortunately it was effortless to book an appointment the owner Kim Rua, and my hair looks fabulous with the organic coloring products Kim uses. Kim is also such a joy to be with and the whole experience was great. I will definitely be returning to Meche Organic Salon. Thanks Kim! - Claudia Mason read more

Guess I'll add my "THANKS, Kim!!!" to the mix. Thanks for fun, wonderful hair... and a really enjoyable couple hours during the transformation. Kim's Meche Organic Salon is a neat little place. In the larger Grapevine salon, Meche has its own serene, big-windowed room. Add nice music, scented towels, tons of good reading for your under-the-dryer time, and Kim, and that's a nice environment! I wanted to color my hair (for the first time in years), and have a cut with a lot more "fun" in it - take off a few inches, add swoopy side bangs, more vavoom etc. I told Kim I was interested in a darker, warmer, more vibrant color. She showed me some great options, weighed in on how each would look with my eye and skin color, and then encouraged me to choose (and stick with) the color we were both initially drawn to. Sometimes you need your stylist to weigh in like that. The color and the cut turned out gorgeous!! Since my hair is pretty fine, she used a razor instead of scissors, which added tons of texture and movement. The organic products (shampoo & conditioner, dye) are wonderful. No harsh smells, no tingly scalp, etc. Just rich color and beautiful shine. Also, I really enjoyed the time spent talking with Kim. We talked about Seattle, Austin, food, New Orleans, runaway home renovation, behavior problem dogs we adore, quirky family, etc. (I know of another Austin stylist who gives great cuts, but there is such a deep chasm between our interests I'd go in prepared for an hour of seriously awkward small talk. Boo.) Time with Kim flew by... and at the end, voila: beautiful hair, nice new stylist in my life. I give Kim / Meche my highest recommendation. read more

For years, I would go to get my hair cut and then hate the way that they styled it! I have wavy hair and enjoy letting it be a little wild and free. When I would go to get it cut, they would want to blow dry it straight and I would end up looking like a soccer mom or something (no offense to soccer moms!). I would immediately go home and redo my hair! The first time I booked with Kim, she took the time to really talk with me about what I wanted and delivered! She gives a great scalp massage while she shampoos and it's heavenly! She gives great advice on how to modify a cut and how to style your hair at home. I love that she uses organic products! Kim has a very calming and caring energy too so you not only leave looking great but you feel more relaxed. Go see Kim! read more

Kim gave me a beautiful haircut for my curly hair! It is so much healthier now and I really enjoyed her products. Her salon room is super cute and warm and she was welcoming. She introduced me to diffusing my hair and it makes my hair so much curlier! Thanks Kim!!! read more

Kim was so great! I am so happy with my haircut and with the time that Kim spent listening to what I wanted. I am going back next week for color because when we spoke on the phone for the first time and I explained my color issues from the past she wanted to see my hair first before making any recommendations. She suggested making a haircut appt first (which I did - and I really appreciated) and before she cut my hair we spent quite awhile talking through all of my concerns and came up with a great plan. I am so glad I found Kim and I would highly suggest going to see her! I will be definitely be letting all of my friends and family know about Kim! read more

I highly recommend Kim. She is easy to talk to, and I am very pleased with the haircut and color services that she provided. I have a history of being sensitive to chemical hair dye, but I did not have a reaction to the organic color used by Kim. read more

I'm the kind of girl who will go without a haircut because I struggle to find a hairstylist I trust and like. Thank you Kim for being so delightful, skilled and professional! I always feel so glamorous when I leave the salon and keep receiving many compliments. I'm so happy I found a hairstylist that is as conscious about chemicals as I am. Very few places go out of their way to offer such natural products and that makes a big difference in my everyday choices. Meche is the right place for anyone wanting a natural lifestyle, that includes your hair! I'm so happy I finally found such a gem in Kim, I highly recommend you give her a try! read more

I found Meche Organic Salon by searching on Google local organic salons, as I had just moved to the area and didn't know any of the local hairdressers. Seeing good online reviews and the salon being a reasonable driving distance, I called Kim to chat about possibly making an appointment. She immediately struck me as a caring and with-it stylist who is concerned about my happiness with any outcome. This was my first time coloring my hair from natural blonde to dark auburn, and she spent time talking on the phone with me about the approach, her products, and how we wouldn't want to rush the appointment to make sure we got it just right. I then scheduled the appointment and she was very accommodating of my busy schedule- we found the perfect Sunday evening. Upon first meeting I found Kim to be just as personable, professional and knowledgeable as I expected from our brief phone call. She took the time to pick out the right color combination and volume for my hair, and it turned out great without even a drop of coloring on my forehead or ears - all while holding great conversation, not just small talk. The color was just a little too dark since we both decided to air on the side of caution with more brown than red, and she promptly asked me to return so that she could guarantee her work (no extra charge). I came back the next week and we hit the nail on the head, since now working with the darker base we could achieve exactly what I was looking for. I am extremely happy with the results and look forward to returning time and again to Kim for both color and haircuts. Absolutely five stars - I would recommend her to everyone. read more

Over the past few years, I've been experiencing an ongoing hair identity crisis. Ushered in by the "ombre" craze, I decided that by growing out my roots, I could save money AND be fashionable. Win-win, right? Well, despite many attempts, the ombre just didn't work for me. Usually, I get dozens of compliments on my hair, but in recent years, these compliments have been noticeably absent. And I realized it was time to face facts-- I want, I NEED my blond hair back. I haven't been able to find a colorist that I love (whether or not it's due to the colorist or my unwavering commitment to the ombre is unclear), so I turned to Groupon. Usually I'm happy to pay a premium for a great haircut and color, but was sick of paying hundreds of dollars to try a new colorist. That's where i found Kim. After reading the sterling reviews, I decided to give her a shot. I tend to be an extremist, and was looking to get as far away from my tired ombre as possible. I was ready to go, like, really blond. Upon my arrival, I proudly brandished a picture of a platinum blond movie star. "I want that hair", I excitedly exclaimed. Kim quickly quelled my pipe dreams, explaining that I would need a full color plus highlights to do such a thing, and would have to get it touched up every 3-4 weeks. This working gal' ain't got time for that. We met in the middle with a partial highlight. She was very unpretentious and didn't try to up-sell me; rather she steered me away from an expensive and drastic dye job. With her guidance, I opted for a much more natural and low maintenance look that was just blond enough. Sayonara, ombre! Well, I am a happy to say, I LOVE my new hair. The color and cut are perfect-- for the first time in a long time, I am the subject of hair envy. Kim also gave me tips on how to protect my hair from the harshness of the sun, chlorine, and saltwater, ongoing threats during my Texas summers. Thanks, Kim, for giving me my beautiful locks back! I found my new go-to! read more

Kim was great - she was very honest about what my hair really needed versus what I wanted to do to it (I can be quite impatient after damaging my own hair). Putting color on hold, we decided on a cut that would remove a lot of my damage, flatter my face and maintain my length. My hair has not looked this healthy nor been this manageable in 6 months. I would highly recommend Kim!! read more

My new ombré highlights rock!! Kim is not only personable and down to earth, but she really knows her stuff :) will be back in a month or so to keep these locks jazzy read more

Kim is amazing and ever the perfectionist. Thank you for my new blonde highlights. Kim was not as happy with the initial results as she had hoped, so she had me come back for a complimentary redo. She is amazing- her salon is calming and she really listens to her clients. I love Meche! read more

Kim is overwhelmed with the groupon response. I felt that she spent more time blowing dry my hair then the actual cut. That being said, she is easy going and a joy to speak to. read more

Just got an awesome cut from Kim at Meche and have to gush a little: she took her time, made me feel completely at ease, and paid close attention to my particular requests and preferences for the haircut. And then she straightened it so purdy. Will be returning to Kim for sure, you should try 'er out! read more

I was tired of switching around with hair stylists. After reading the awesome reviews Kim had, I knew I had to get an appointment with her! I didn't have much of an idea of what I wanted to do with my hair but I told her a few things and she really worked with me to get exactly what I wanted with my hair! For the first time in many years, I have been so pleased with my hair after leaving the salon. She is also very fun to talk to and i know I will definitely go back to do anything to my hair. If you have any questions about your hair in general, she gives great advice and isn't like other salons where they push you to only buy their products. She's as real as it gets! Couldn't be more pleased! read more

Kim was amazing! Love the cut/color I received from her. My hair gets compliments all the time about the color and how shiny it is! Not only was she a great stylist but she was also there to hear me vent like sometimes we need our stylists to do! :) read more

Love the organic line, the regular stuff stings.

I came here through a deal I found on groupon and I was fortunate enough to meet such a wonderful lady in Kim. She listened to what I want done with my hair and she did it wonderfully. I showed her a picture of the cut and color that I've been wanting and she made it happen. She even styled it like how it was on the picture! :) I wouldn't mind coming back to Kim and paying full price for her services. Thank you, Kim, read more

I found Kim through Groupon and I am so glad that I did! My hair needed a little fix-up and she dyed it a dark natural brown. I have never received so many compliments in my life! I have random strangers coming up to me and saying how well the color compliments what I am wearing and my skin tone. I am so glad that I was able to find Kim, she's been a real life saver. It's been difficult for me to find a good stylist and be willing to return to them. I know I will be going back to Kim for my colorings from now on. She took her time, was very friendly and funny, and I came out happy with the entire process. read more

I highly recommend Kim. She did a wonderful job and I loved the fact that she uses gentle, more natural products. The blonde highlights I had done look very natural and the cut is awesome. I will definitely be going back and recommend her to everyone. Thank you Kim! read more

I found Kim through a Groupon she advertised. Kim is a delightfully knowledgeable and energetic stylist. She understood exactly what I expected with my hair color. She took her time to listen and paid careful attention to my wants. Not only did the color come out perfect, but I have received two compliments in the last 24 hours....at the gym. Who notices hair at the gym???? I cannot thank Kim enough!! read more

First time coloring my hair and it was perfection. Grateful to have started off with the best!

Kim is a very nice lady and I really LOVE the highlights and coloring of the roots she did on my mainly grey-silver hair. It is great that the dyes she uses are safer than normal hair coloring. We started with a head of too dark hair and she has been transitioning it to a lighter color - really appreciate her expertise and kindness - thanks Kim! read more

Here I am after my third visit to Kim - and my color and cuts continue to be exactly what I want. I also realized today that I look to Kim to be educated about color and hair. She is extremely knowledgable about her profession , and, as an educator, I appreciate the fact that I not only leave with great looking hair, I also learn a lot while I'm with her. In other words, I trust in both her skill and her knowledge - and how many women can actually say that about their hairdresser? read more

Kim is amazing and has a great eye for color and haircut styles that are suited to each person's style, face shape, and coloring. As a holistic health coach, I've wanted to find an organic salon for a while and I'm so happy that I met Kim and went to her for a color makeover! She gave me beautiful red highlights and turned me on to the Keratin conditioner which is great for my long, thick, curly hair, keeping it soft and not weighting it down. She is so much fun to talk to, and the organic hair color she used is virtually free of stinky fumes (so nice!!). I highly recommend her. read more

I don't know about y'all, but I can never make my hair look like it does after going to a salon. Kim took the time to understand what my daily ritual was and choose the cut that would help me get the look I wanted without me breaking down in hysterics. The color she put on is exactly what I wanted even though I couldn't describe it. She also gave me tips on how to keep my color vibrant. I will be back!! read more

Kim is such a nice and personable lady!! I went to her after seeing she had a Groupon available. I'm a very poor college student so I try to find the deals when I can, but I also have been looking for a regular person to do my hair for a while now. I'm so sick of bouncing around from salon to salon and being unhappy with the end result. I figured the Groupon was a good way to test the waters with someone new. Well, I think I finally found someone that I can stick with!! Kim did an awesome job... I went in with very long and VERY damaged hair and she took off the perfect amount to keep my length (I hate it when hair dressers take it too short, it happens almost every time). My hair feels and looks SO MUCH healthier now. I also got an all-over color... I went from a lighter brown to a darker brown and asked for a very, very slight reddish tint. Kim got the color perfectly (also a rarity). I also love the organic products she uses... my hair felt magically soft after leaving her salon, AND it didn't smell like hair dye!! What a plus! :) I will definitely be going back to see her again! THANK YOU KIM! read more
