The staff are always friendly and never make it feel awkward that I'm just shopping instead of booking an appointment. It's convenient, consistent, and I've come to really trust the products I get here. Nice to have a spot where I can stock up without any fuss.

However, a week later, I noticed a $37.50 no-call, no-show fee on my account. I thought this was strange, considering I had requested the cancellation in person, but I didn't think too much of it. I assumed it would be an easy issue to resolve during my next visit once I explained the situation. Unfortunately, I received far more pushback than I anticipated. The receptionist questioned my concerns in what I felt was a condescending manner. She repeatedly stated, "I don't see any notes," which was frustrating because the entire reason I was bringing this to her attention was that the previous receptionist had apparently failed to cancel my appointment. Of course there wouldn't be any notes if the cancellation was never properly processed. That was literally the issue I was trying to resolve. I then asked whether she could see that I had come in for a service seven days before my originally scheduled appointment. My point was that I had already received the service and had requested to cancel the upcoming appointment for that reason. Her response was, "People do come in that frequently." As someone who has been getting waxed for 16 years, that's not true. Seven days is not enough time for sufficient regrowth, a respectable center wouldn't allow waxing so frequent. I have been told that I didn't have enough hair for a wax service and was turned away before. She then informed me that because the charge occurred a month ago, I would not be eligible for a refund. I asked whether the amount could instead be credited toward my next appointment, and she stated that she would need to speak with the manager. I believe my request was entirely reasonable, especially considering the charge resulted from what appears to have been an administrative oversight. What bothered me most wasn't even the $37.50 fee, but rather the way my concerns were handled. I felt as though I was being questioned and treated like I was attempting to take advantage of the business instead of being treated as a customer bringing a legitimate issue to their attention. At this point, European Wax Center can keep the $37.50, and I will gladly take my business elsewhere. I initially chose this location because it was convenient and close to my home. However, convenience is not worth dealing with dismissive customer service, unnecessary pushback, or passive-aggressive interactions. I wasn't asking for special treatment. I was simply asking for a reasonable resolution to an issue that should have been handled correctly in the first place.

This girl knows her stuff. First off, Elizabeth has a degree from UT in biological sciences AND…read moreattended the Aveda Institute AND is a graduate of the prestigious Lauterstein-Conway Massage School here in Austin. Hell yes. I went to Elizabeth about once a month over the course of six months for a series of facials before I got married. In each session, she asked me how my skin had been acting, what kinds of activities I had been engaging in (good and bad, i.e., smoking), and created a personalized session for that appointment. She also educated me about the crappy face supplies that I had been using (without making me feel stupid) and got me started on an organic, gentle line of skin care that has done wonders for me. My face literally was glowing after every session. She is also EXCELLENT at waxing; my eyebrows look awesome. OH! And at about 5' 2", she totally adorable and not intimidating at all.

Yelpers have never done me wrong, so I called to book right away. My call was returned promptly and we discussed my wants/needs/options. I have never received a facial before so I wasn't sure what to expect. Orange Blossom does custom facials so Elizabeth said to come on in and we'd decide what was best. The location is in a little office park, but feels like a little old house inside. there are a couple of rooms and it is very peaceful. Elizabeth is as cute as a button, was very friendly, and instantly put me at ease. Once I wrapped up in a velvetly robe and tucked myself into the softest bed/table ever, she got to work. She decided on a deep cleanse, but did all sorts of stuff. We spoke briefly about my skin care routine and other than answer any questions I had (she was very patient, I had many, and was pretty nosy about the whole expereince), it was very relaxing. Whatever she did with paprika felt amazing, and I liked the mud mask and the facial massage. Ok, so I liked it all! I'd asked about a specific product and she introduced me to it at the end fo the session. It wasn't sale-sy at all (in fact, i'm wondering if or how she sells any product if the customer doesn't take the initative) and I got a great under eye product from Colorscience. Definitely a brand I'll look into since she gave me a sample of the Primer to try - which I did this morning - and love it! So my skin looks and feels fabulous. My pores are invisible and my face is seriously soft! This is definitely something I am going to have to save up for and do again!

My mom and I did some research, but pedicure reviews are hard to come by at nail spots. We decided to try Escape, and we weren't disappointed! We came just after opening on a Saturday and were able to sit immediately. There are so many color options and all the classic options for pedicure types. My only thing is that the services are a little on the pricier side. However, our technicians were both so friendly, listened to our individual requests, and did a fantastic job overall! I love the blue ocean-like floor and cannot wait to go back.

Nancy was assigned to do my nails and did not speak one word of English. The only reason I bring this up is because typically, when you need to get your nails removed, they soak your fingernails for a few minutes to loosen the bond, then clip them off of your natural nails piece by piece. Well, an hour and a half later, they finally removed. It was not communicated to me clearly that they did a different process to preserve the nail by slowly filing it down then soaking your nails, then slowly filing it down then soaking your hands times 11! Literally, it took over an hour and a half to get them removed. Nancy was rough with my fingers. She had sharp nails and dug them into my fingers while she was rolling them from side to side to work on my nails. It was painful and I tried to explain to her not to grip my fingers so tightly. She also cut my one of my cuticles. I know I have thin cuticles - I tried to explain that to her but she didn't understand. The manager should have stepped in and explained the process better and communicated to Nancy my complaints. They had me soak my nails for over 25 minutes with foil wraps before switching me out to have John be my new nail technician. John was wonderful. We were able to have a nice conversation and he did a great job. However, I did have an appointment I needed to go to and I was late to it because when I walked into the salon at 12:30, I had no idea it wouldn't be until 2:00 pm before that process was done. I will not be returning.
