He was very thorough with cleaning up skin around my cuticles and pushing back my nail beds. The receptionist was helpful in finding a color when I told her what I was looking for. They have a large selection of gel polish! The salon isn't that nice or new looking but they have the necessities and even had cold drinks! It's hard to see the pricing list on the wall but they do have menus with pricing and details on each service. My total for mani and polish chAnge including tip was $50! Which is a steal. Went to get a full set of acrylics made an appointment a week prior for noon when I arrived all of the nail tech were busy and the lady at the front asked me to wait a second which is fine but quickly 10 minutes turned to 45 to an hour. I was finally sat at about 1 PM. It was very frustrating and under normal circumstances I would've left, but I really needed to get my nails done. Also, when I asked to speak to a manager, I was told none were on duty. Waiting 15 minutes is one thing, but I made an appointment at noon for a reason and an hour wait with an appointment is ridiculous. Another issue is that a manicure does not come with an acrylic full set when on online It says that their acrylic set comes with a manicure. I am unhappy with my nails and at the end of the day, after such a horrible experience, I did not want to be there a second longer.. read more

I recently moved near city nails and thought I'd give it a shot. The owner is a kind lady, but the establishment itself is not the most well kept. One thing I noticed was one of the workers pouring the nail polish remover I had my nails soaking in, into a clean container of cotton swabs to soak, for the next clients - which I found very unsanitary. I also had gotten a fill on my acrylics, that began to chip and fade within 3 days. Not only that, but the lady filed under my index fingernail so bad, I was left in a lot of pain and had to remove my acrylic nails within 4 days of having them. When I went to city nails to get the acrylics removed completely, I stated to the owner my nails were in pain. It seems there was no communication between the owner and the worker because the worker began to remove my nail with that drill and she shaved the top layers of my natural nail completely. My nails were not treated with care, nor was I offered a refund for the acrylics I only had for 3 days. I was left with a lot of pain for more than a week and very weak nails. After my nails were removed, I stood at the register waiting to see what I'd be charged. They had me wait a while until they reluctantly told me it was ok and that I didn't need to pay. I will never come back to this salon again! They rush through their work and do not treat your nails with proper care. The photos show my index fingernail cut in half. My favorite nail salon here in Austin. The nail technician works hard. I like how they even offered me a free soda while I waited. I also like how my acrylics nails was only $35. The other salons that I went to charged $45. The reason for the four stars and not 5, is because I never knew that the acrylics nails from the book would be $50 and not $35. (I'm guessing because they are the ones that dry right away). Which I don't care if I set and waited to get my nails dried. I'm just choosing from the nail polish from now on. I also wish they allow my nails to dry a little longer because they got the bit messed up. But I don't care because no one would notice. read more

I went in at 4:30 on a Friday for SNS/pedi. They drew blood on both my toes and fingers. When they were removing old SNS on my hands the technician filed my nail so thin it started bleeding because my nail was raw to the skin. I wasn't even going to leave this review until I noticed today (28 hours after application) that my nails were starting to shed the top coat layer in a thin film...on all nails. This place does a great pedicure. It was an immediate upgrade on quality of the service from my former regular place. I've been here 3 times for a pedicure and each visit, they make my feet soft and the polish looks great each time. The massage chairs are superb too! Then why 3 stars? Well, I'm frustrated that today and on my 2nd visit, the lady who was giving my pedicure took a call on speaker for the majority of the time of the pedicure service. I've go to this nail salon quite a bit and usually get a solid dip color (like solid red), however I just got a sparkly black dipped nail, this I my second time doing a sparkly dip at this nail salon and because they put a base coat on top again it gets a cloudy look to it. Now I tried to tell the nail tech that I didn't like that because you can't see the black and the glitter isn't as shiny. She said they had to put it on or the glitter would come off. I showed her a section of my nail that didn't get the base coat on top (it was the back end of my thumb) I explained that that part didn't get the base coat on top and you can tell that it's black and the glitter looks shiny. She seemed to be annoyed with me so I dropped the issue, I paid and still left a tip. My suggestion is to not get sparkly dip at this salon because they don't want to take the time to make them look good. I know that sparkly dip doesn't have to look cloudy because I've had it done at other salons. I am extremely disappointed and will now have to pay another salon to remove these nails and put different ones on. **Also on a side note the ring of sample nails that they let you choose from didn't have the cloudy look meaning they didn't put the base coat back on top. That is very misleading too. (If I rated them based just off this experience I would rate them a 1) **Solid colors are totally fine and they are great at them. read more

I got Tony and at first, I did not feel comfortable with a man touching me, but he put me at ease. He took my diabetes seriously, and educated me on thing I did not know and if I did not return to him, to make sure others did certain things to keep my feet abs hands healthy. Not only is he highly knowledgeable he is extremely talented. He takes his time and he pays attention to details. I was stressing about getting a spa pedicure yesterday because I hate having to wait, but I am too fickle to actually call and make an appointment. I decided to try out City Nails and there was no wait and they began on me immediately. They also had a great selection of colors. Most places have a million shades of pink and red - but I like more wild colors than that. I decided on a Teal color from Color Club. The guy who did my spa pedicure was a great conversationalist too. After I informed him that my feet are always more rough than my boyfriend's, he said he was determined to get my feet softer than his so I could have bragging rights. Also, based on the color I chose, he recommended some more fun colors they have that I should try next time I come in. Super great service! Great pedicure! I will definitely be back! Typical Korean nail salon with cheesy 80s beauty posters on the wall. The paint job was really good and for $13 it's a great deal. It could be a little cleaner in there if they swept the floor more often but I didn't feel like it was unsanitary. The big negative for me was the bottles of polish were pretty used and abused so I could only find two bottles that I both liked the color and the top wasn't glued to the bottle by dried polish. read more

I hate to give businesses bad reviews, but ladies, let me regale you with my tale of horror! I went to City Nails to get an upper leg wax. I chose it because I was shopping at Sunflower across the street, and figured what the hell- a good cheap wax that does the trick is a great find. They waxed me in a room with two beds (no paper or new sheets between customers) AND NO CURTAIN OR PRIVACY OF ANY KIND BETWEEN THE TWO BEDS! Yes, I lay there in my underwear with my leg up in the air and my ass facing an older lady sitting right in front of me getting a moustache wax. I am not kidding. Now that we have that out of the way, if you are still interested in going to City Nails for a wax, you should know that the woman who waxed me did a very thorough job and it was comfortable, although it took almost 40 minutes. I stumbled upon City Nails a few years ago by accident, and it has been my favorite place ever since. It didn't seem that busy and certainly not crazy busy. When I walked in, I made eye contact, pointed to my brows and indicated I needed a brow wax and asked how long was the wait. No response. I stared----they stared. I waited at least 2-3 minutes. One came up to the counter to assist the customer who was waiting to pay. So I asked her how long the wait was. No response. I waited. After the customer paid, I thought the employee told me to sign in, so I did and waited, still standing. After a couple more minutes, I left in frustration. No one ever acknowledged me.
