I walked in for a brow wax. There were customers getting mani/pedi, a customer waiting to pay, and 2 others seated in waiting area (had already signed in). It didn't seem that busy and certainly not crazy busy. When I walked in, I made eye contact, pointed to my brows and indicated I needed a brow wax and asked how long was the wait. No response. I stared----they stared. I waited at least 2-3 minutes. One came up to the counter to assist the customer who was waiting to pay. So I asked her how long the wait was. No response. I waited. After the customer paid, I thought the employee told me to sign in, so I did and waited, still standing. After a couple more minutes, I left in frustration. No one ever acknowledged me. I went across the street to another nail salon where they were friendly, courteous and prompt. An added plus was the cost of the brow wax was cheaper! read more

So I've been here twice now for pedicures and I'm almost ashamed to say that... I really need to find a better place! They do a fine job but the place is almost nasty.. there were ants all over the place and the floor was dirty as hell. It makes me wonder why I am paying them to put my feet into a tub of who knows what... if they can't sweep the floor I don't believe they clean anything else which seriously grosses me out! The nail tech I had kept stopping what she was doing to sit and talk to her coworker which was annoying and also made my pedicure take forever! To make it even worse, the entire hour you have to sit there you listen to instrumental elevator music on repeat- don't know how many times I heard "A Whole New World." I'm not going back again! read more

Place is fine is you want a no fuss, no frills kinda experience. There was a nice full arm massage with the manicure, but I would recommend bring your own polish. The selection is old and doesn't the range of shades is narrow. read more

I came here to get some gel removed and regular polish put on, and the lady did a great job. Clean tools and workspace, good price, availability on a Friday afternoon, all good. My nails look nice and it didn't take too long either. read more

Nothing fancy here, but who needs that? I've been going here for pedicures for about 6 months, and I couldn't be happier. Everyone I have had has worked hard and done a really good job... and for a great price! My only complaint would be that I have had to wait a couple of times, it's a busy place. read more

My fave nail salon! The deluxe pedicure is amazing. The ladies take their time and don't rush. They used an awesome sea salt scrub, and then a mud mask which gives you a cooling sensation. Also don't forget hot stones ! I'm hooked. read more

Great pedicures, very detailed, and take their time, AND I have been there twice and not one employee has been on their cell phone while working, which to me is a huge plus. They do talk to each other a lot, but I don't mind. My biggest pet peave is someone doing my nails with one hand and talking on their cell phone on the other; this does not happen here!!! BUT the place could be cleaner. Floors seem dirty, but the chairs/tubs seem clean and I have seen them clean them after I am done. They could use some fresh polish choices, as their bottles are a bit old. But they do give a good pedi, which is what I am paying for... so.... read more

This place gives an adequate manicure.

I have been going to City Nails for years and love the service. They are friendly and do a great job.

This is probably the closest nail salon to my house (moved to this part of town about a year ago) and I've never gone here because it looks unappealing just from the window and the street sign - I mean an old 80's style poster up front? First off the place is noticeably dirty - dusty and dirty grout on the floor. Secondly, while the chairs and tables seem newer, it is painted in an old, dated peach/salmon color and has these odd mirrors on the wall. Also, the sink they send you to wash your hands at is in a back corner and is dirty - dirty sponge and there were two staff trying to get to some tools or something back there while I was waiting. BIG point is I'm not certain they sanitize their tools properly - the lady doing my nails pulled out a bag but it wasn't sealed and all the tools had little plastic safety covers on them that were dingy looking. I should have probably not gone through with the service but in order to learn all this I had to go through the experience to be able to give an honest review. My advice to the owner is to THOROUGHLY clean your establishment as a first starting point. Even just hire a cleaning company to do it off hours. Next, repaint the place with a nice chic color like a gray/blue. Hang some cute but cheap crystal chandeliers or something - make it feel like your customers are actually being pampered. There are hard working and good income earning residents in this area and if you want more business you should change these things. Cleanliness of quarters will increase income 500%. read more

This has been my go-to place for mani & pedis for about 4 years now. They are awesome at what they do, but they also are so kind! I highly recommend! read more

I got a really bad manicure a free days ago where the technician left my cuticles looking horrible so I went here while in the area. Great manicure! My nails and fingers look so much better. read more

I go here for my routine eyebrow and lip waxing! They do the best job for the cheapest price. AND they trim my brows too which I love. I've gone to other nail shops for waxings when I couldn't make it here and was disappointed in the quality and price. I have gotten my nails done here before, but I would prefer getting them done somewhere else. My nails would start to lift only a couple of days after I would get fills and I didn't like that. The pedicures are good too, but its not the reason why I go here. read more

Best manicure and pedicure I've ever had in Austin. For bargain prices, they give you the full treatment you pay extra for at other salons. I got my brows waxed as well, and it was easy and turned out great. The employees were meticulous about perfecting my screwy nails and they did a great job. read more

Four stars because this place delivers exactly what they say they deliver: manis, pedis, brow & facial waxing. Nothing fancy at all, Except for the uber comfortable massaging spa chairs. Super nice people -- Tony, Tammy, and the rest are always welcoming. (Most are Vietnamese, not Korean, by the way.) They could spiff up the interior a bit. But if they do, I hope they don't go up on their prices. I took my dad there for his first pedicure and he loved it. They are keeping South Austinites looking good! read more

There is nothing glamorous about City Nails. Everyone else is right on about the cheesy decor. In addition, the noxious fumes can be overpowering. Despite that, I come here more often than not for my manicures and pedicures. The prices are more than reasonable, and they do a pretty darn great job on my nails. I'd recommend trying to come at an off time, though; weekend afternoons are a nightmare. read more

Great job every time on my nails and almost always can get me in the day and time I call. Tammy does the best!

I got a wonderful mani pedi here. The message chairs are so comfy. The technicians do a thorough job with filing and smoothing the skin and give a very relaxing leg and foot message. Their color selection is vast and I have never picked a old or clumpy polish. Very affordable. read more

I feel like City Nails is another typical nail salon. I ended up going with a friend of mine who religiously gets his pedis and eye brows done it. Walking in, it did feel very welcoming. All the ladies new him by name and you can tell they were in love with him (maybe its because he tipped them very high!). I ended up getting a pedicure as well as he did. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary or special about it. The woman who did my friends feet of course gave him the special treatment! I expect it but the lady who did my feet...just did a half ass job. 1) If I have nail polish on my toes, please actually take the time to remove it. 2) Actually take the time to scrub my feet. I know its feet and its not the best part of it but come on. My feet are upkept so don't act like its nasty. 3) Don't just do one thing to one leg or foot and not to the other. It makes me feel unbalance, its weird, and it makes me feel like you do not care about my feet. $23 is not to bad of a price if I felt like I got that much out of it. I can go to other places and get a deluxe medi for that with the mud paste on my legs and hot towels.... Nothing is out of the ordinary when it comes to this salon. read more

Not the best place to go if you're a walk-in. I asked how long of a wait to get a face wax and was told 30 minutes. I waited over an hour and never heard another word from an employee - not even when I got up to leave. Nice to know they are doing well and don't need business. But they shouldn't lie and waste customer's time. I could have gone elsewhere, but ended up wasting the time I had allotted for the service here. Just a bit if communication probably would have made all the difference in the world. Won't be back. read more

Love this place. Not fancy, put they care, work hard, equipment always works, in & out quickly and your toes always look awesome!

Great nail place. Quick. Convenient and affordable. Bear massage chair in town. My girl took her time and did a great job! $23 for pedicure

Been going to this nailshop for almost 10 years and i use to love it, however its been under new management and the service is crap. You walk in and its like nobody sees you or cares what you need. If you call to make an appointment nobody answers the phone. I've been there getting a service and watch everyone sit there as the phone rings and ring. Never returning read more

I love this place. I started coming here when I lived down the road to get my eyebrows waxed. They always do an amazing job and take their time. I now live on the East side, but travel across town every month or so to get a wax. Prices are great too! read more

This salon is awesome! Although it may not look like much at first glance, a man named Tony gave me the best manicure I've ever received. Definitely my new favorite place read more

DONT EVER EVER COME HERE!!!! READ ALL THE WAY THROUGH. I've been going to city nails for about a month now and have never had any real problems until today. I went in to get a fill and one of my nails had completely broken off so the man who helped me replaced it. I pointed out to him later that it was shaped crooked. At first he said no that it wasn't crooked it was just the way I was looking at it. He tried to tell me my finger is what's crooked, basically. Anywho a woman came over to the table to paint a design on my nail (I guess his skills weren't adequate) and I pointed it out to her too. She agreed it was crooked and told me that the man that helped me "cut too much on 1 side" (admitting his mistake). She fixed it for me the best she could. When I went to pay he said I owe him $19. I asked why since a fill is $15. He said because I had a broken nail. When I told him I didn't feel as if I should have to pay for it since it was crooked he tilted his head back and laughed. He walked away shaking his head and talking smack in Korean to the other workers. I was shocked and said "wow you're really rude. You think you can just laugh at your paying customers?" He told me my nails were screwed up when I walked in and he fixed it for me and I have to pay for it...of course they were messed up when I walked in I haven't had a manicure in 2 weeks! The one he was SUPPOSED to fix (and charged me to fix) was the only 1 messed up. He basically pushed me out the door and said "okay, whatever, bye, have a nice day". Still in a state of shock and anger I left and said "wow, f*** you dude.." and as I was leaving I heard him say to me "f*** you too!" I turned around and asked him if he really just said that and he ACTUALLY told me this: "yeah I did because you said f*** me first so f*** you too!" While ill admit, the snide remark I made might've been unnecessary, I never would've acted that way if it hadn't been treated so rudely in the first place. Bottom line, there's nothing that makes it okay to talk to or treat a PAYING CUSTOMER that way. I was completely disgusted and shocked by what happened to me. I will never return here in my life. With the abuse I received aside, its a rinky dink rundown little place. Lots of polishes are dried out, not a very good selection of colors, and its dirty in there. Dirt and dust in top of the nail drying station, nail polish all over it and lotion all dried up and caked onto the container its held in like they've never wiped or cleaned it, ever. The prices are good, but the work is mediocre at best. They don't care about their customers at all and it shows. read more

The staff are really nice, but the three times I've been there I felt like they weren't prepared (even if I made an appointment), and I think only one person knows (or is at least comfortable doing pink and whites). They say they offer a beverage (but I've only been offered one once), and it is very no frills (which is totally fine with me if the quality of the work is good), and have had two nails break two separate times. That being said, I really wanted to like this place, but today I had a pedicure scheduled with a friend and neither of us were happy. Despite having appointments, again, they weren't prepared, seemed to have a million other tasks to complete besides our pedicures, and the man who did mine was awful. He cut my nails so short on the corners they hurt, and the nail polish was looked terrible and was applied so thick that it would never dry no matter how long I sat under that dryer! When I pointed this out to him he was visibly annoyed and tried to tell me I was wrong and that it would dry. When I insisted by demonstrating the way it was smudging, he looked at me and said "whatever you say" about 5 times before eventually asking me if I wanted my polish redone. (No thanks). I spent two hours in the salon and paid full price for a pedicure that I had to go home and redo myself. read more

Great service and prices. Linda does a great job on manicures, pedicures and waxing. I have gone other places and paid more but have not been as satisfied. The new spa chairs are very nice. read more

Good pedicures, great prices and a variety of 'levels' of pedicures clearly described in a price sheet. What more do you need?

I've been a regular at City Nails for the past four years, with good reason. They do excellent work for a competitive price. It's a small, privately owned salon so if you're looking for marble floors, tubs, scented candles & complimentary Evian, drive on. If you're looking for a clean, professional atmosphere, beautiful nails & a relaxing pedicure resulting in lovely bubble gum toes in a myriad of available colors, you'll want to give these folks a try. I wasn't always faithful. The first couple of years I would randomly visit other salons mistakenly believing they were all the same; same price, same people, same workmanship. Not so. Those other places cut up my cuticles & overheated my nail beds in their overzealous attempt to make my chair time as brief as possible, focused more on customers walking in rather than the one's already sitting before them. One nail tech (Walmart) even argued with me when I asked her to soak off the old solar acrylic before applying a new set as this would be time consuming. She insisted on prying it off with nail clippers and a cuticle stick, which was not only painful but resulted in a fungal infection! That was the last straw! I took my fungi nails back to City Nails, embarrassed that I had strayed. My City Nails tech, Tony, was very sweet & nonjudgmental when I told him what had happened. He soaked the acrylic off to get a better look at my natural nails & confirmed it was an infection. He cleaned them up for me & treated them, then recommended an over the counter fungal treatment to use at home. After my nail beds were healed & healthy again, I went back for a new set & have been returning every 2-3 weeks for fills & maintenance ever since. He & his coworkers are true professionals, attentive to my comfort without sacrificing the quality of their work. People often compliment me on my nails & inquire about where I get them done, & I'm happy to tell them it's City Nails. read more

I have been going to this nail salon since I moved to Austin almost 13 years ago. However my recent visit has me wanting to go to a new salon. I got a manicure and pedicure which is $30. The young lady who did my services ran my debit card for $330.00!!! I asked her why she had done that and she couldn't explain it to me. The owner quickly voided the transaction. This was on a Friday over a holiday weekend. So come Tuesday morning, my debit card was still frozen with a $294.50 hold from City Nails. So I contacted my bank and they gave me instructions on what City Nails had to do to release my card. I went to see the manager that after talking to my bank. She reassured me that the credit cards had been released. On Wednesday morning, I checked my bank account again and there was still a hold on my card. Wednesday afternoon I went back to the City Nails to talk to the manager/owner again. I got there and I had just "missed" her. The nail tech that was there was giggling like the situation was funny. I'm so flustered and upset with this place that it has taken almost a week to get my card hold released and everyone there has not helped. They are making it sound like it was my fault for getting charged $330.00 instead of $30. After this whole ordeal, I don't think I will ever go back to City Nails. I have never had this happen at any place I go. read more
