Film/top layer coming off nails within 24 hours of application
Taylor D.

I went in at 4:30 on a Friday for SNS/pedi. They drew blood on both my toes and fingers. When they were removing old SNS on my hands the technician filed my nail so thin it started bleeding because my nail was raw to the skin. I wasn't even going to leave this review until I noticed today (28 hours after application) that my nails were starting to shed the top coat layer in a thin film...on all nails. Photo below shows right side nails having film start to generate and shed and left shows nail with film/top coat removed to where it looks rough and un even. Never going back.

The nail I picked VS the one I got.

I've go to this nail salon quite a bit and usually get a solid dip color (like solid red), however I just got a sparkly black dipped nail, this I my second time doing a sparkly dip at this nail salon and because they put a base coat on top again it gets a cloudy look to it. Now I tried to tell the nail tech that I didn't like that because you can't see the black and the glitter isn't as shiny. She said they had to put it on or the glitter would come off. I showed her a section of my nail that didn't get the base coat on top (it was the back end of my thumb) I explained that that part didn't get the base coat on top and you can tell that it's black and the glitter looks shiny. She seemed to be annoyed with me so I dropped the issue, I paid and still left a tip. My suggestion is to not get sparkly dip at this salon because they don't want to take the time to make them look good. I know that sparkly dip doesn't have to look cloudy because I've had it done at other salons. I am extremely disappointed and will now have to pay another salon to remove these nails and put different ones on. **Also on a side note the ring of sample nails that they let you choose from didn't have the cloudy look meaning they didn't put the base coat back on top. That is very misleading too. (If I rated them based just off this experience I would rate them a 1) **Solid colors are totally fine and they are great at them.

Good pedicures, great prices and a variety of 'levels' of pedicures clearly described in a price sheet. What more do you need?

Although it may not look like much at first glance, a man named Tony gave me the best manicure I've ever received.

Literally hundreds of dollars spent there for over a decade, and I was blown off today. Because I had the audacity to try to call them, not once, but THREE different times, and they never answered the phone. Desperately trying to let them know that I was running 4 minutes late. Four. They refused to go beyond a five minute grace period. When this place changed to one location, off William Cannon, I was not the only one impacted. There were many of us who were loyal to the 47th St. location, but who kept coming down south, even though it's over a 40 minute drive, because we like the brand. It's this sort of customer loyalty that businesses should be grateful for! Instead? I got no phone call, no follow up email, no attempt to touch base with me to try to work this out, and come to a better understanding. Nothing. So thank you for using me for my money! Way to go. It's not about the money. It's not about not being allowed to be four minutes late. It's about being blown off, when local businesses tout building relationships" with clients. My going there for 12 years, was that not proving that I was loyal? Fuck You, Waxing Studio. Those of you who want to go there still, that's on you. Beware of being blown off, and treated like you are a cog in the machine, just like anybody else. It's that sort of corporate BS I was hoping to avoid in the first place. Period.

First off, Elizabeth has a degree from UT in biological sciences AND…read moreattended the Aveda Institute AND is a graduate of the prestigious Lauterstein-Conway Massage School here in Austin. Hell yes. I went to Elizabeth about once a month over the course of six months for a series of facials before I got married. In each session, she asked me how my skin had been acting, what kinds of activities I had been engaging in (good and bad, i.e., smoking), and created a personalized session for that appointment. She also educated me about the crappy face supplies that I had been using (without making me feel stupid) and got me started on an organic, gentle line of skin care that has done wonders for me. My face literally was glowing after every session. She is also EXCELLENT at waxing; my eyebrows look awesome. OH! And at about 5' 2", she totally adorable and not intimidating at all.

Orange blossom has a new fan!…read more I had a Spa Finder gift certificate I was eager to take advantage of, and OB popped up in my search and had stellar reviews. Yelpers have never done me wrong, so I called to book right away. My call was returned promptly and we discussed my wants/needs/options. I have never received a facial before so I wasn't sure what to expect. Orange Blossom does custom facials so Elizabeth said to come on in and we'd decide what was best. The location is in a little office park, but feels like a little old house inside. there are a couple of rooms and it is very peaceful. Elizabeth is as cute as a button, was very friendly, and instantly put me at ease. Once I wrapped up in a velvetly robe and tucked myself into the softest bed/table ever, she got to work. She decided on a deep cleanse, but did all sorts of stuff. We spoke briefly about my skin care routine and other than answer any questions I had (she was very patient, I had many, and was pretty nosy about the whole expereince), it was very relaxing. Whatever she did with paprika felt amazing, and I liked the mud mask and the facial massage. Ok, so I liked it all! I'd asked about a specific product and she introduced me to it at the end fo the session. It wasn't sale-sy at all (in fact, i'm wondering if or how she sells any product if the customer doesn't take the initative) and I got a great under eye product from Colorscience. Definitely a brand I'll look into since she gave me a sample of the Primer to try - which I did this morning - and love it! So my skin looks and feels fabulous. My pores are invisible and my face is seriously soft! This is definitely something I am going to have to save up for and do again!

The waxing itself is great; I prefer hard wax and appreciate how efficient the appointments are. I've worked with several, more senior specialists over the years, and they've all been great, friendly aestheticians. I've also had great service booking by phone or online. That said, I'm pretty sure I just had my last appointment, and the reasons have nothing to do with the quality of the service (hence why I'm still giving 5 stars). The reasons are more about how the business is run: 1. High Turnover. It's not a good sign that these facilities run through aestheticians. If you find someone you like and trust, it's highly likely that person will leave within about 2 years. Find another person, same thing. Rinse and repeat. 2. Treatment of Women. For this to be a place that primarily serves women, I've continued to hear about European Wax Center's less-than-ideal arrangements for female staff. No maternity leave? No flexible work schedules for new moms? I'll take my business elsewhere for the time being, but I do hope the owners/managers of these locations will take this feedback to heart and make some improvements.
