What a place! I absolutely loved it! After months of researching hair salons I decided on this one, so glad I did! I made an appointment and went in with not very high expectations just because it is so difficult to find a good hairdresser. I scheduled my appointment with Vanessa, I initially made an appointment for a cut but once there I asked about color since I've been wanting to correct my brassy orange locks. She offer some options so I decided to go ahead with it and man oh man I am so glad I did! We decided to go with a cut and toner, The orange in my hair is completely gone, she really took her time with the cut, which it's probably the best cut I have ever received. My hair now looks so flowy and so soft. Although I have a lot of hair she was patient and had the best attitude. I've tried many other stylist's that have complained about all the hair I have and have done rushed work but not here, This place is legit. I have to say, most hair salons are usually intimidating due to the fact that they charge an arm and a leg, this place however is reasonably priced and the work they do is pretty outstanding and worth it. I really have a hard time finding people who can cut my hair. It's dirty blonde and I have a lot of it. If the person doesn't know what they're doing, you can see every cut. I had to find another person to do my hair after my last stylist of over 14 years had some personal life challenges. My wife and daughter recommended Amy and I have gone to her 5 times now; every cut has been better than the last. Amy does a great job remembering the idiosyncrasies of my hair. I told her once about the issues I've had in the past and she's never forgot. Amy is super easy to talk with which is a big deal when you go to stylists as long as I do. Being the daughter of a hairstylist, it's been hard for me to get brave enough to allow someone else to do my hair now that Mom isn't doing hair anymore. I have a bad habit of waiting many months to get my hair cut and highlighted (yes, I tolerate the dreaded root-rot!). The first time I went to Marianne Martinez at V. Clay Salon in Kyle, I probably put way too much pressure on her by telling her how I get nervous when anyone but my mom does my hair, but she took it in stride. She did exactly what I wanted and I felt like I looked great. That first visit was about 2 years ago-I moved away from the area and then back again, and thankfully held on to her number. I waited until the last minute again (and of course it had been about 5 months since the last time I had my hair done, which happened to be by my mom before my wedding!), and needed highlights and a cut before SXSW next week! She got me on the schedule (today) even on Saturday. (whew!) I came in wanting to cut a lot of the length off (simply out of boredom with my long hair), but after a few questions and conversation about what I wanted, she somehow convinced me to keep it long but layer it and add highlights and low lights-I am SO glad she did! I love my new style and my husband is glad I kept it longer, too. I've already gotten so many great compliments! Not only that, I now realize that I need to get a straight iron! I LOVE the way she styled my hair, and am ordering a new straightener tonight! Even if you live in Austin like I do, save some money, make the drive to Kyle and go see Marianne. I was staying with my in-laws for a month and I couldn't get a hold of my old hair stylist. I have long hair that a lot of stylist like to chop off more then I requested, so I am very afraid of meeting other stylist just from previous experiences. It was a Saturday and I was 100% sure I couldn't get in but I called anyways. I spoke with Sarah and she was able to fit me in the same day. As soon as I met her I felt like she really listened to my needs. Even though my hair cut is very basic, it gets ruined 50% of the time. She understood that I wanted to keep my length and wanted just to trim off my split ends. She did exactly what I wanted and I still had room to get my eye brows waxed. My hair started out in a boring bob and 2 years later, she has styled me into gorgeous, multiple-faceted colored long curls. Okay guys! I've been seeing Sarah for several years now. Last October I made the mistake in going to great clips bc they were having a $5 haircut special, it has taken me until now (April) for my hair to grow back out. I cried for several days after bc of how horrible job great clips did (which I should have known). So I went back to Sarah today and asked for 1/2 in off with some layers. She told me you won't be able to notice much of a difference in length and I said that's perfect! The end result is beautiful, she never fails todo a awesome job. Made an appointment 2 weeks in advance to get my daughter's hair french braided for prom. Almost an hour later and numerous attempts it looked like she had a cowlick on each side of her head (she never has). We took it down when we got home and she did a much better job herself. First off, everyone at V Clay seems to be very inviting and friendly. The shop is clean and very organized. Kellee Wayne has got to be one of the best hair dressers this earth has to offer. I love the cut, color, and service I receive at V. Clay from Sarah Heath. She is great! One of the things I like most about Sarah is she does not do anything that is unnecessary. The first time I visited her I asked for a full highlight. She began asking me questions about the color I was trying to achieve and recommended only doing a partial highlight instead, which is a lot less expensive. She also has extended my highlights by touching up my roots twice instead of another partial highlight. She is confident, professional and knows what she is doing. I have complete confidence in her skills and know that if I were dissatisfied for any reason she would fix it. My hair looks the best it ever has and I attribute that to Sarah's skills. Was looking for a new salon that was more convenient for me to go to. I've always been very hesitant to try a new hairstylist which is why I stuck with my girl for 8 years. As much as I voided looking for a new salon due to my original stylist location, I found this one. Looked nice, had good reviews... I called twice and no one answered, the voicemail states to call or txt the number they provide. So I txt and I was told the next available was April 23 which was pretty much almost a month out. I said ok sounds good, I was willing try it. Then she asked me what I wanted done, so I sent pics( just a trim and add bangs). Sent her pics of my hair as well. So, she tells me, "just so you know I don't have you down in the book yet" Not sure what she was waiting for... considering I would've waited a month to get a haircut and NOTHING ELSE. The day I txt her was the ONLY day we conversated, she never put me down for an appointment, never txt me or called me back to tell me anything as to when she could fit me in or if she ever did end up putting me down...... guess you don't want new clientele Vanessa. I attended V-Clay salon to have my hair trimmed and colored by, Sara. I asked for subtle highlights and a trim. A TRIM!!! Although we did not consult on what exactly I wanted, I felt confident that she would do a fantastic job. Since I'd taken my daughters in for haircuts and love the outcome. After it was all set and done we walked outside to check the end result with outdoor lighting (due to poor lighting in the salon- said Sara). I looked great!!!! LOVE IT!!! Until, I washed it a few days later. =( I noticed it was very choppy!!! After I blew it dry, I straighten it and curled it but nothing help. All it did was flip out. My hair had been layered drastically but not blended at all. You could defiantly see the uneven and jagged ends. Keep in mind I just wanted a trim!! So I decided to contact Sara and let her know about the issues I was having and she kindly responded with "Come on in and let's blend it". I reminded her that I could not get back in until after 515 pm due to my work scheduled and she gave me a time she had available (4 days later) She also mentioned it was very important that when I come in my hair is styled. That way she can see the problem because when I left there the last it looked fine (not great/ FINE), so it could be a styling issue (meaning I wasn't styling it correctly?). A styling issue, I thought??? WOW, I explained to her again that I styled it 3 different ways and nothing seemed to work. I also mentioned that it might be due to the fact that I don't slather it with oil as she had!!! After going back and forth we set a time for 4 days later but she tried to change my time to a later time (accommodating her schedule). She also told me it would be a quick 20 minute fix. (That right there told me that she was not going to take her time to correct the issues at hand nor to educate me on how to style it; since she thought it was a styling issue.) After much thought and 155.00 down the drain... I decided not to go back and give her the opportunity to make it worse. The way the situation was handled it made me feel as though I did something wrong. I must not be styling it properly and I must have not been clear enough when I told her I just wanted a trim!!!! Very disappointed!!!!! Not to mention, we had discussed and scheduled several other appointments for the future. Most importantly my wedding day appointment. Very unhappy with the treatment and outcome of my hair!!!! read more

When I got married and moved to Kyle in 2011 I was in serious need of a new hair dresser/stylist. Thank goodness I found Sarah! Girls got some skills. Sarah is very flexible and always works with my schedule. I send Sarah pictures of hair colors, and styles that I like, and I appreciate that she is always honest with me. If she doesn't think a certain style will flatter me she makes sure to tell me. I have always been very happy with the way my hair turns out after I go see Sarah. Not to mention her conversation alone is worth going for; she is to die for hilarious and very sweet. I would recommend going to see Sarah to all my friends and family.
