Definitely ask for a quote on every single service before they begin. My teenage daughter went in with her adult cousin for a girls day and showed the salon a picture of the nails she wanted. She was quoted $65 before the service started. When she went to pay, the total was suddenly different with several unexplained upcharges. No one told her during the appointment that there would be additional charges or an upcharge added. When she questioned the price, the manager was very snarky and dismissive. My daughter paid and left upset. When my fiancé later called to discuss the situation, the manager was argumentative and rude, saying things like, "Well, she looks like she gets her nails done, she should know," and "If she's old enough to get her nails done alone..." even though she wasn't alone and was there with her older cousin. The issue was never the final price itself -- it was the lack of communication and the way the situation was handled afterward. A simple explanation or apology would have gone a long way, but instead the conversation felt defensive and disrespectful. read more

The next time I called and told them if they could not get me in at my appointed time, I would leave. They did get me in. Tony did them again. Did a good job, just too thick! Followed my favorite nail tech, Kyana, to this salon after she left Forever Polished. She's the only person I let do my nails now and I'm so glad I found her again. Upon first visit I'm so impressed. The aesthetic is clean and the chairs are so comfortable and relaxing. The pedicure massage chairs are also next level. But, the reason to come here is Kyana! She can do any design, she takes her time and is a perfectionist. Her pedicures are also amazing, the massage alone was worth it. She also remembers what we've talked about. I lost someone right before my last manicure and she checked in on me during this one. So thoughtful and caring. I had 4 nails chip in the span of less than 2 weeks. 2 chipped within a week, so they fixed them, and again today, 2 more chipped. As you can see, the tips are a lot thinner than the rest of my nail, hence why the acrylic is breaking off. I paid $65 for a fill (and they wanted to charge an extra $10 for cuticles which is ridiculous and should be included) just to be left with this right before the holidays. This is controversial because I'm giving this place five stars because my pedi was fine and is in line with most of the monopolized nail salon experiences. By that I mean I think a lot of people are used to the language barriers or differences in polish brands (sometimes unrecognizable and possibly not free of toxins) or inconsistency of encountering a different nail tech each visit with various skill level and tenure. It all comes down to the price you are willing to pay and your expectations. Unfortunately I think the nail salon space has trained consumers to have low expectations for a minimal price. It was what I expected and the service was decent. There are some things that I think were different ( and for me personally unnecessary) like rubbing my legs with orange slices or putting a mask and lotion on my legs only to rub it off with a hot towel that now leaves my pores open and ashy but the people were polite and professional and quick and my pedi looks fine. I got the essentials pedi for $55 and it took an hour. this did not feel rushed for a Sunday 11am opening despite a wait at the entrance. Ive never been here before and was seated within 10 minutes of entering. I liked the music, the massage chairs were fine and a young lady offered me a drink menu which had a variety of things to choose from but I didn't partake. The TV did not have anything interesting on but it did have captions but I preferred the 90s r&b they played. The guy who did my pedi was great. I won't be back, I'm going to give Lacquer and Cure Studios a try. They offer $60 for a polish pedi ($70 for gel) but are known to use non toxic polish and Lacquer has a waterless (if sustainability and water waste is a concern) pedi and both places do not have fumes nor offer powders/acrylics services. Just going to try what a place who seems to be different from the majority is like. I do love Austin for having options. read more

Kyana is a straight up magician. I usually do dip, but she convinced me to try this new type of gel that is easier on your nail bed. It can be sculpted and filled, similar to acrylic nails (although it looks way more natural). I chose gold/bronze ombré, which I was really pleased with. The whole place is really clean, fresh, and pleasant, although I think they could lower the music a little. Bonus points: she gives an amazing foot massage, and she removed 100% of my calluses. I have NEVER had a nail tech go to the trouble of doing that! read more

The pedicure I received did not meet my expectations. The technician had a shaky hand while painting my toes, leading to a subpar result. I felt like I could have done a better job at home and saved my money. After requesting a redo, my toenails were filed down shorter than I would have liked. I've gone to this place 4 times since they had a re-opening. 2/4 times, I've had someone who was on their phone a lot and the nails only lasted 1-1/2 weeks. Today I went and it wasn't the best experience. It took almost 2 hours, I got French tip and my original nail person was having so much trouble not doing it crooked that someone else had to step in and fix it. I left with a bleeding thumb and a very irritated index finger. I was also confused because I've never been charged extra money for the shape I suggested (was charged $5 for "special shape"), and on top of that I was charged a random $5 that I have no idea what it was for. I'm not sure how their pricing works, because the first time I got French tip it was only $5 extra, today it was $10 extra. I ended up paying an extra $20. I have been going to this nail salon for the past six years and it has changed drastically in the last year. The place itself is remodeled, and the decor has been a nice upgrade. However, the prices have gone up, and there are nitpicky charges for things that did not used to be there. For example, more than one color of nails on a manicure and charging to remove gel polish; I don't seem to recall all of the nitpicky charges a year or two ago. I was also frustrated with the time quote I got when I called ahead and showed up and waited an additional 30 minutes for a manicure and then was rushed through my service and hardly got the full experience. It was very disappointing compared to what it used to be. I didn't even get lotion on my arms or anything in particular that would resemble special treatment for a manicure. It was just dip manicure and done. I hope things change but there isn't any acknowledgment of customer loyalty either. read more

I got a pedi with poly gel on my toes and I loved my service. My nail technician was Kyana she is the best ! Everything was great.

Called ahead to schedule an appointment with Lyla after seeing the photos posted. I was informed that Lyla no longer works there but other people were equally as talented with acrylics. This is false. I needed my set removed and replaced with a new set. They don't soak your nails off, they pry them off which is always painful. She started off with the shaping which was exactly what I wanted until the started laying the actual acrylic. She laid it on super thick, I asked for coffins and got these gross looking things that don't have a shape at all. At the end I was clearly upset with them and I'm not the type to just let things go unsaid. I asked her to make the edges sharp which she couldn't do because they're thick. She got excess paint on my hands and didn't clean it off. Polish was thick and sloppy. Black flakes in my white polish. I asked her to fix it, she ignored me. In the end I got charged extra for length and shape. My nails are SHORT with z. Do not come here unless you enjoy disappointment. read more

Also told me to use rubbing alcohol which I tried and didn't work. The man that did my mani pedi and was extremely rough. I don't think the clippers, etc were sterile. This one is refreshing because (1) it's new with no strong acetone smell at walk in, (2) it is spacious and (3) have genuine personable service. It's clean and spacious with lots of breathing room. The ambience is more contemporary and luxurious than other places, not cheesy, crowded and worrisome of being unsanitary. Those at the front, greet you immediately and overtime make meaningful conversations. They ask questions to learn exactly what you are looking for and construct your acrylic or SNS to exactly what you like which I very much appreciate when I did Baby Boomer Ombre Nails. Antonio, who works there most of the time, ensures that all customers are being tended to and are feeling comfortable. The service and personality of the salon makes you feel more important than a cash flow opportunity as most nail salon do. He and his staff will make special accommodations and the tone of it seems genuine. The pedicure typically takes longer than expected, perhaps with less experience staff members doing it but I rather have them take their time than carelessly rush through. Highly recommend to go.
