Working with Dallas Romney and Corina Nixon has been nothing short of a nightmare. I'm not sure if it's because I'm a young female, or if they think I have "sucker" written on my forehead.
This company was recommended by my realtor, and their crews replaced the lining and broken tiles on my roof in 2025. Nothing was extraordinarily wrong when THEY did the work, although despite the name, Romney doesn't actually do the roofing. Don't let the Yelp bio fool you. He's essentially a project manager with his name on the door.
The crew was not clean or professional. Not one crew member spoke English or even attempted to say hello or tell me they were there. They simply showed up and started working. They napped on my lawn after about an hour, left rusty nails and trash all over my property that I had to personally sweep with a magnet before moving my dogs in, and trampled multiple plants. Still, I was happy when the job was finally over.
Fast forward to this year. A tree in my courtyard had to be removed, and within days I received a letter from my HOA saying the tiles on my roof were the wrong color. I thought it was a mistake because I had verbally confirmed with Dallas during installation that the color would be matched as closely as possible based on available materials. Dallas even sent me photos of the completed roof, and nothing appeared wrong.
Nope. My HOA was right.
There was a roughly 5' x 5' patch of incorrectly colored tile that had been concealed behind the mature tree. Conveniently, the photos Dallas sent did not show that area.
I contacted Dallas and Corina, who tried to give me the runaround. Dallas said color matching was not in my contract and therefore they didn't have to replace it, but he'd be "generous" and send someone out anyway. He offered to paint over the tiles. I declined and asked for the red tile we had previously agreed upon.
They sent a crew who claimed to fix it. No apology. Instead, I was made to feel like I was the problem for having an issue with it.
At that point, I no longer trusted Dallas, his crews, or their work, so I contacted the Arizona ROC. I was required to pay for an independent inspection and file a claim based on the findings. The inspector found that the incorrect tile was STILL on the roof, had been moved to another location, and that dozens of broken tiles had been reused instead of replaced.
At the official ROC inspection, Dallas argued with the inspector over the definition of a broken tile and claimed straight lines were impossible because of my roof pitch. My neighbors' roofs would beg to differ. He also admitted that despite 12 years in the roofing industry, he was unfamiliar with Arizona's minimum roofing standards. There were so many issues that he and the one crew member with him could not fix everything that day. The ROC gave him two weeks to complete the repairs.
I had to contact Romney Roofing myself to schedule them. I specifically requested Dallas be present. He was not.
After their repair attempt, I paid for another inspection. The incorrect tiles were STILL there. The inspector said it looked like they hadn't touched a thing. In fact, they completed repairs the ROC said were unnecessary and failed to address the areas the ROC actually required them to repair. There were still numerous broken tiles.
I contacted the ROC again. Our inspector was leaving the state, so I was given the choice of going to court with a new inspector who had never seen my property, or giving Romney Roofing one final opportunity to fix the roof. I chose the latter.
When scheduling the final crew, Corina said, "I'll send a crew with better eyes this time."
Like this was all some big joke.
Their crew came out, and I once again paid for an independent inspection. Finally, nearly six months after discovering the incorrect tiles, hundreds of dollars in inspection costs, and countless emails and phone calls, my roof is finally the correct color with minimal broken or incorrectly installed tiles.
Not once did I receive an apology. I requested a partial refund due to the incorrect materials and breach of contract and was denied.
The utter lack of professionalism, customer service, accountability, and compassion was astounding. Never in my life have I spent so much money on something and received such horrendous attitudes and service in return.
I strongly recommend getting multiple opinions before hiring Romney Roofing and, if you do hire them, document EVERYTHING. read more
