This was one of the magical places I remember frequenting in my childhood that I don't often go back to but have agreed to make a habit this summer of going to often. I got to enjoy this with some folks that are part of my adulthood crew and boy did it bring back memories. I used to come with my entire family and we'd order a few lemonades, fries, burgers, chicken strips, onion wrings and mozerrella sticks and share them with the table. I ordered the fries and wings and honey mustard. Boy was it all delicious and tastes just the same as I remember is from growing up in the early 90s coming here after going to the aquarium on the weekends! I got the corn fritters and wings when here with a coworker and washed it all down with an orangeaide (like lemonade but with oranges, try it ) For any SoCal folks who may read this review, the vibe is similar to The Hat. I been coming here as a teenager and the cheese fries are amazing!!!! The mozzarella sticks are great bit on the pricier side but very delicious. I honestly don't like their burgers here as the meat tends to be very dry and feels like it gets caught in your throat because of how dry it is. The roast beef is decent. Been going to this place for decades and things have always been on point. I moved out of state but when stuck in Belt Pkwy traffic I shoot over to Roll-N-Roaster. I always enjoyed the spend $35 and get the free pizza deal. I recently spent $49 dollars and when I asked for the pizza I was told you now have to spend $50 to get the free pizza. Really? A $15 jump? Ridiculous. Nearly $10 just for a Roast Beef sandwich alone is pricey but jacking up the free pizza deal is pretty petty to me. A Brooklyn staple! I have been going here since I was a kid. Everything you try here is delicious and prices are great. We spent $65 for dinner (there were 4 of us and we over indulged...) the cashier told us we got a free pizza for spending over $40! The pizza was good and cheesy, super thin crust. A nice touch. You obviously can't skip the cheese fries (and yes the OG fries are back). We got the cheese whiz roast beef and it was good. I wish i remembered to put onions in it. I finally made a trip to Roll-N-Roaster today and I have to say, I liked it better than Brennan and Carr's. For one, they focus on the freshness of their ingredients-- all their breads are made from scratch and baked daily without preservatives, their roast beef is roasted, trimmed, and sliced daily, and their gravy is made from pan drippings. I ordered the roast beef sandwich ($7.45) and the cottage fries with cheese ($4.95) and while it was a bit of a wait, my food arrived fresh and well packaged for the ride home. Although I did not order gravy on the side ($0.65) I did find that the sandwich itself was juicy enough to do without. The roast beef was really tender and the caramelized onions added the perfect sweetness. The housemade kaiser roll was also great too. Their cottage fries, while charmingly nostalgic, were a little soft and oily when I was expecting something crispier. They also offer French fries with or without cheese as well as corn on the cob and a number of other options for lunch or dinner but the roast beef sandwiches have been their staple for time immemorial. We ordered a cheeseburger, NY strip steak, regular and cheesy fries, onion rings, chicken tenders and lemonade. We received a free 12inch pizza pie since we spent over $40. The chicken tenders had way too much breading, over fried and dried. The onion rings were amazing, and the cheeseburger was somewhat decent. They have been a staple in Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn for over 52 years. It's clean, good prices, there is no wait service although the counter people are always friendly and efficient. There good for groups, they emphasis on cleaning. The food is "ok" not what it use to be. Usually eat very healthy and decided to make an exception because I was looking for a quick dinner. I had the roast beef sandwich and sweet potato fries. The fries were the best part. I would say they are good for a quick, inexpensive meal where you know the food will be safe to eat. I'm from Brooklyn and had Roll-N-Roaster for the first time in 28 years a few weeks ago. Maybe it's cause I didn't grow up in the area but I was genuinely ashamed. That being said, after finally having it, I'm proud to say it wasn't bad! When my friend said she was getting chicken wings, I sort of looked at her like she was crazy. Chicken wings from fast food spots that aren't chicken focused aren't exactly super trustworthy in my opinion. We got a lb of those to share, fries with cheese sauce on the side, sweet potato fries, an ice cream float and a chocolate milkshake. The fries were okay, nothing crazy to rave about. The chicken wings thoughhhhhhhh. So good. They tasted exactly like the chicken wings from the bowling alley on the Fort Hamilton Army base, lol, very nostalgic for me. I love their roast beef sandwiche which is what they're famous for. You can get it with cheese or without. This is Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn establishment has been in existence for 53 years, they do things right. As a kid growing up in the 80s the 4 AM commercial that I used to see is now a restaurant that I frequent in the 2020's. My experience has always been positive with their roast beef with cheez, roast beef is always rare and has a great flavor. As also had a good experience with the shrimp cup, sweet potato fries. It's definitely a fast food icon but it's not so fast just like their ad says way back in the 80s. They call your number and you pick it up. Ask for condiments at the counter the pump disappeared for safety. Parking is tight but I always seen to get a spot off season, different in the summer. First timer though I have known about Roll-N-Roaster for years. I spontaneously decided to check out Roll-N-Roaster tonight (March 16) and have no regrets. I came for one menu item and one menu item only -- the corn fritters. Based on the photos, the corn fritters looked identical to the corn fritters I remembered eating as a kid at Goodness Steak Restaurant on the Junction. And one bite tonight filled me with so much nostalgia. The corn fritters oozed with cream corn and it's so, so good. The four star rating is solely for the corn fritters I also ordered fries, which weren't anything special and needed salt. I'd skip and that says a lot because I LOVE fries. The onion rings are nicely crisped and would substitute the fries with this. Nothing fancy and very much feels like you've walked into a time machine but that gives RnR its charm. Prices are reasonable and there is plenty of seating. There is a small parking lot that has a one hour time limit. read more
