Munchinette has been my south Brooklyn staple for health food for years! I discovered it a while ago whilst working in the neighborhood, and have been a fan of this family owned business ever since. From healthy workout plates, to wraps, to protein shakes, to even protein brownies- this place offers it all. The staff is so exceptional and friendly and they really make you feel like a neighborhood friend, and I love ordering the chicken plate or sometimes mixing it up and getting the half and half steak and chicken. You can get potatoes or salad or rice as your sides, and it tastes like a home cooked meal. No preservatives, whole ingredients and food, clean eating, and not too heavy that you're full of grease and bogged down. The munchi sauce is also such an excellent topper, and a must! I've passed by here so many times and always smelled the aroma of grilled steak. But I always thought it was more for gym rats. Having lived in Sheepshead Bay for years, I thought it would be time that I visit this little shop on the corner of Sheepshead Bay Road and Shore Parkway. On my way to work everyday, I would smell the delicious aromas of food thru it's side vent and it's a wonder that I avoided coming in here for so long ... until this past weekend. Most of Muchinette's clientele is young and, from what I've noticed, most of them are gym rats coming straight from the 24 Hour Fitness. However, just because you don't go to the gym, it doesn't mean you can't have a Muchinette power plate. The shop is very small and only has a few bar stools along the window, which makes for very good people watching, if you're into that while eating. The menu is just as small, with just 10 power plates/sandwiches. Beverages consist of freshly squeezed juices and smoothies with whatever fruits you want in 16, 24 or 36 oz sizes. On our visit, my fiance and I went with The Power Plate and Extreme Salmon. The Power Plate consisted of grilled chicken, grilled peppers, onions and our choice of grilled potatoes or yellow rice, with which I went with the rice. The Extreme Salmon contained salmon, grilled vegetables and our choice of grilled potatoes or yellow rice, with which she went with the potatoes. To sum it up, both plates were good and filling, but not anything mindblowing. Your expectations should be set to exactly what you're ordering, rice, veggies, and meat. The grilled chicken and salmon were pretty tasty and the vegetables right on. The rice and potatoes were also good too. Even though I'm showering this meal with the word "good" written all over it, nothing really stood out about either power plates. It was a typical local meal that was OK. The only complaint we would have had was the pricing of the meal, but then again, where can you really find a meal these days for cheaper than $8-$9 an entree? I order from this place all the time I've given them several chances in the past with little screwups such as serving tough and non tender meat , giving me the wrong order, even serving food w dam tinfoil on it and anyone who has ate or ordered from this place, will know that their stove has tinfoil on it and that's how they cook the food. This is one of my favorite places to eat in the area. It's good, solid, clean food. It's perfect after the gym, but a lot of times I just come here with my girlfriend for dinner. I know Yelp is important to owners for feedback, which is why I'm writing this review. This place definitely deserves 5 stars, but I wanted to give some comments. The last few times I've come, they were always running out of A1. I like A1 with my steak, so it sucks when they run out. Also, the music doesn't usually fit. It might be a personal preference, but I think it's often too loud and too hard. People might prefer something a little more chill. It's not a club. Also, hooks under the tables for people to hang bags and free up seats would help. Otherwise though, I high recommend everyone try this place out. Try to order ahead.
